Chapter 57: Wizard Gamble Pt 2
Every major city is under attack by Naugus's Badnik forces with Shadow, Whisper, and Ace getting reports across the world about this. "This is bad, he is going for that army huh?" Ace asked.
"Yes, and there is no way we can go after him with all this chaos all over the world like this. This is planned out to fine detail," Whisper said as Shadow is holding the Time Stone he rip out of Infinite's chest before he turned him to dust.
"We have to rely on Sonic and Mina for this one," Shadow inserts a healing gel via a medical needle to see his wounds are healing faster than normal. "They are our final hope to defeating this powerful wizard," Shadow is shocked to see Naugus has knocked him down pretty hard with his spell. "Even in my Chaos form, I got completely overwhelmed by that wizard. He is nothing like we faced before, good luck you two. You will need it," Shadow thought.
The wizard teleport within the ancient city to place the remaining Chaos Emeralds into the vault slots to see the door beginning to power up. "Yes, yes. I am going to leave this planet and claim my destiny," Naugus said as he can sense two powers flying towards his location. "I think the Egg Carrier MK2 will be useful as a distraction," Naugus said as he summons a dark tower to pierce the top of the airship with a weird-looking hive infesting the ship.
Sonic and Mina are flying through the sky to see the area is getting covered in a snowstorm which seems to be out of place here. "Where did this snowstorm come from?" Mina wondered.
"Must be greybeard, be ready for anything," Sonic said as they see a looming shadow appearing in the thickening snowstorm. "What's that?" he wondered as they see the Egg Carrier MK2 which now has a dark twisted wasp nest covering the whole ship.
"Eww; those wasp nests completely covered the ship," Mina can sense dark Wasps popping out of the entrances to swarm towards them. "Mutant Wasps, the work of Naugus no doubt," she said as the black wasp as big as cars are heading for them and swarming around them.
"Gee, they are everywhere," Sonic is blasting away the mutant wasps with fireballs to set them on fire and they fall onto the ground below. Mina is shooting fireballs as well to burn away the evil insects.
"Let's combine our flames," Mina said as she takes his hand for them to spin into a circle wot unleash several rings of flames to burn away tons of dark creatures. They fall onto the snowy ground with Sonic and Mina lighting up their auras on fire to fly through the monster to burn them all in their path. Both of them twisted into twin fire drills to cut down several groups of bugs with them.
The Egg Carrier MK2 is firing its weapons to fire onto them with them flying away from the laser turrets and missiles. Mina uses Hover to stun some missiles with Sonic launching them back with precise kicks to blow holes in the hulls and sections of the huge wasp nest broke off the infected ship.
"We need to take out the defense systems on this thing," Mina said as Sonic nods his head for them to split up to target sections of the ships with more mutant Wasps targeting them.
The insects spit out sticky goo to hit Mina to bind her hands and feet making her vulnerable in the air. A dark wasp tackles her to knock her backward. She stops herself in the air as she uses Burst to burn off the sticky goo off her body and let loose lightning bolts and fireballs to pepper the incoming horde of insects to drop them out of the sky. Several lasers strike her to knock her backward but she keeps going to unleash Plasma orbs to pepper the hull with several columns of laser turrets and missile launchers getting destroyed.
Mystic Sonic is using his spells to blast away the fireballs and flare lasers to crave a pattern with bugs falling out of the sky. He flies over the hull to get hit by missiles and lasers but kept going to tear through the horde's mutant bugs and destroy the defenses.
Sonic kicks the incoming wasps to aim them towards the turrets to knock them out of the commission. "Diamond Rush," he curls into a ball to dash onto the surface of the ship to rip apart the turrets to clear out the ship's defense.
Mina looks at the nest to detect activity for something breaks out of the nest. "Here comes the Queen," Mina said as the Dark Wasp Queen summons dark energy to twist the snowstorm around them making it even worse. "Gee, this is getting worse," Mina said as the Wasp Queen fires beams of dark energy to knock Mina away.
Sonic rushes at the Queen to roll up and slam into the side of it to shake it up a bit. The Wasp Queen unleashes a big blast of energy to knock Sonic away as the Queen is morphing the snow around herself to form ice needles to home in on her targets.
"Oh shoot," Mina is flying away from the homing ice icicles with her blasting them with fireballs. Some of the icicles strike Mina several times to freeze her. The Wasp Queen rushes in and tackles Mina to stun her. The monster insect whacks her back onto the ship to fire beams of dark energy.
Mina lands on a broken turret to avoid the incoming dark blasts with Mina launching herself to boost into the beast to push it forward. Sonic comes in from above to Spin Dash into the Wasp Queen's back to weaken the monster further.
The Wasp Queen twist the snowstorm around it to form an ice shield to protect against their attacks. Mina and Sonic use their energy attacks but none got through the shield.
"Time to break that eggshell," Sonic and Mina both using Flame Boost to clash into the ice shield to melt it away and smash into its head. Mina uses flaming disc blades to slice off the wings to make it crash onto the barely functioning Egg Carrier MK2.
Both Sonic and Mina unleash huge barrages of fireballs to pepper the monster and ship with fiery explosions. "Take this," the couple lets out twin beams of fiery death to punch through the big bug and the ship causing it to explode vaporizing the monster and clearing up the way.
"We did it," Mina said as they gave each other high fives.
"Yep, come on. This snowstorm is getting worse," Sonic said as they fly through the snowy skies with the winds getting bad forcing them back.
"Gee, as we fly forward. I can feel us getting forced," Mina said as Sonic holds her back. "What's wrong baby?" she asked.
"I think I can clear this up," Sonic said as he focuses his power into his palm to outstretch it to feel a surge of power. "Dispel," Sonic cast a spell to get rid of the spell cast onto the area to see the snowstorm has cleared up leaving the sky blue and clear.
"Oh honey, that was amazing," Mina said to be very impressed by this.
"Yeah, the mountain where the city is located just up ahead," Sonic said as they go fly towards the mountain with their mission just in view.
Elsewhere Naugus can see the vault door is at 50% power as he feels his monster has been defeated by the couple. "So looks like I have to get my hands dirty. If anything, bad happens to be. I always have a backup plan," Naugus said as he remembers St John locked up in a secure location. "That young man will come in handy if something happens to me," Naugus said with a cruel smile to teleport outside to meet with the couple.
Sonic and Mina are flying above the mountain where the hidden city is to find all the Badniks have been turned off. 'Seems like the Egg Carrier was broadcasting orders and now they have been shut off now," Mina said.
'Good, no more distractions to get in our way," Sonic said as Naugus appears on top of a mountain to look over the heroic couple.
"I am very impressed with what you have done so far," Naugus said as they look over at the old wizard who seems very condiment despite everyone and everything in his forces having been destroyed. "Taking out my snowstorm with a spell is very good. I am surprised Quickster, you managed to gain such skills with the mystic arts," Naugus said.
"I am quite the fast learner Greybeard," Sonic said.
"Your army and minions have been defeated. You have nothing left here; you better surrender," Mina said as Naugus laughs at them. Naugus shows no fear for he has a backup plan even if they stop his first plan.
"It doesn't matter, they all served their purpose. I will gain the ultimate power regardless and you can't stop me," Naugus said.
"We will see about that," Sonic and Mina rush in with the old wizard grinning widely.
"Flash," Naugus unleashes a bright light to blind Mina and Sonic in the eyes at once. "Tornado," he entraps them into a big twister to be ripped apart by the sharp winds. He made the tornado implode for Sonic to manage to protect them at the minute with a wind barrier.
"Take this," Sonic said as he fires volleys of explosive bubbles with Mina coming in for a close-range hit using lightning energy wrist blades.
"You can't get close to me, my power can make your magic will go wacky," Mina said as she swings her blades. Naugus uses a magic barrier to deflect the water spells back at Sonic to knock them out of the air. He encases Sonic in a sphere of energy to fling him against a tree with magic.
"That can't happen if I keep my distance little Mongoose," Naugus said as Mina fires a point-blank fireball but Naugus teleports out of the way to smash a flying rock into her head to knock Mina onto a mountain top.
Sonic falls toward the old wizard to bash him with several kicks. Naugus uses a magic barrier to block his strikes to make him recoil backward as he counterattacks to swiftly stab at Sonic's body with wind blades.
"Don't get cocky Quickster," Naugus said as he unleashes a gust of wind to blow Sonic away with Mina using Laser to go at Naugus at the speed of light. She connects with her just passing through Naugus as he becomes smoke. "Aqua Laser," Naugus gathers water at the tip of his staff and release a huge beam of water.
Sonic summons a barrier of water to deflect the spell away but the sheer power of the spell knocks him back. "Bloody Lance," Naugus rains down dark energy spears from the sky with Sonic trying to avoid them but getting overwhelmed by them taking some serious damage.
"Sonic, eat this," Mina mixed Rocket Bomb to lob cluster energy rockets with Naugus teleporting across the mountains with Mina's attacks bombing sections of the mountains leaving behind several craters in their wake. She flies toward Naugus to let out a burst of power which makes Naugus feel weak for a moment.
She scores a few hits and kicks him into a tree. "Spike Burst," Mina tosses fiery discs with Naugus regaining his composure to teleport out of their way. The discs slice up columns of trees leaving burned husk in their path.
"Shit," Mina said as she got hit by Aqua Laser behind her sending her crashing onto the grass.
"You got to do better than that," Naugus waits for the vault door to open with 75% power. "Soon my army will be here and I can leave this rock," he thought as Sonic uses Cyclone to gather winds around Naugus with Mina superheating the twister causing some damage.
"We need to combo out attacks to keep him on his toes," Mina said as they power up to head for Naugus.
The wizard uses Dispel to get rid of the flaming twister to see the couple flying at him. He launches more dark energy spears as Mina uses Asteroid to summon a lot of clones to make a distraction. Naugus is blasting away the clones with Sonic curling up into a ball to harden like a diamond.
"Take this," Mina kicks Sonic to spike him directly into Naugus's chest to knock the wind out of him. Sonic smirks for he uncurls to deliver a swift combo of kicks with the wizard unable to fight back due to lacking physical combat abilities.
"Aero Slasher," Sonic spin kicks several times to leash out tons of wind crescents to hit the old wizard multiple times. Mina comes in to kick Naugus in the head and unleash several fireballs to damage him further.
"Double Boost," Mina and Sonic launch themselves like projectiles to slam into the wizard's chest to send him flying through several trees.
"Well, that was not bad," Naugus said as he teleports back onto a mountain top to loom over them. "You have not won yet," Naugus said as he begins to power up to 100 percent for him to spam tons of spells to overwhelm the duo,
Mina has a big thought come up in her mind. "Sonic, I think he is holding us up to get his golem army here reactivated," Mina said as Sonic nods his head.
"You are right. You will distract him while I go after the Chaos Emeralds," Sonic said as he flies towards the cave entrance for Naugus to notice this.
"Oh no, you don't," Naugus casts Aqua Laser to head for Sonic but Mina kicks it away. She creates more clones to draw away Sonic as she pushes back Naugus. "I must say Mongoose. You are far more dangerous than in my world. She was nothing more than a useless musician and yet you are here able to put up a decent fight against me," Naugus said.
"It is all thanks to Sonic and his love and friendship. With that support, I can be here at the right place and the right time to stop a dirty bag like you from hurting anyone else," Mina said as she causes her clones to explode electric blasts to stun the evil wizard.
Mina lets out a burst of Hyper-Go-On energy to weaken Naugus as she uses Laser to slam into him hard enough to launch him into a cliff. "Spike Laser," Mina turns into a pink spike ball to launch at Naugus. He manages to let her fade through him as he releases a blast of flames to knock Mina onto the ground.
"You and the Quickster will die here together, Genocide Orb," Naugus summons a huge ball of dark energy which is surging with power shaking the whole area. Mina's body stiffened from the raw power this spell is emitting.
"This isn't good," Mina said as she prepares her attack to counter this.
"Block this," Naugus tosses the dark orb as big as a 5 story building with Mina combing her Color powers.
"Laser Burst," Mina releases a powerful flare laser to clash with the huge dark ball but the spell is pushing her energy attack back. "Oh no," Mina breaks away as she dodges the dark orb.
The Genocide Orb hits a mountain and the blast reduces it to dust leaving behind a 50-foot crater. "Oh boy, that was awful if I didn't dodge it," Mina feels worried to see Naugus is nowhere to be found. "Crap, he is going after Sonic," she flies into the caverns below to swiftly enter into a huge underground space to see the hidden Echidna city of Albion before her. "Oh my, this is Albion. This place has been lost for thousands. Too bad it might get destroyed due to this crazy wizard," Mina flies off to sense Sonic has been founded by Naugus.
Sonic is dodging green crystals for they hit the side of buildings grow and spread out like a virus. "Gee greybeard, can you calm your horn down," Sonic said as he is running the side of a building with crystals trying to impale him.
Naugus warps on top of a building to summon a stone wall to block Sonic's path. The wall shoots tons of rocky spikes to aim at Sonic with him casting an Earth shield to protect himself but crystals crash into his shield to break it leaving him vulnerable. Mystic Sonic gets blasted by the stone shards to knock him through a window.
He summons walls of stone trying to crush Sonic but he manages to harden his body like a diamond to get pressed by the stone walls but craves through them with ease.
"Sonic," Mina is peppering Naugus with Plasma orbs as the wizard blocks her shots with a mystic barrier with the vault door at 85% "Go after the Chaos Emeralds," Mina said as Sonic speeds toward the vault with Mina holding him off.
Sonic manages to find the vault door to use his magic to rip the Chaos Emeralds off the door to depower the door. He charges up a spell to unleash a huge fireball to vaporize the vault along with the building to destroy it along with the Onyx Horde Naugus was seeking for so long.
"No!" Naugus shouted to see his first plan has failed.
"Sonic, you did it," Mina said feeling proud of him. Naugus tosses a Genocide Orb to slam into Sonic. He creates a shield but the spell takes out the shield and damage Sonic enough to knock him out of his Mystic form. "Oh crap," she said as Naugus regains his calm to smile at this.
"Not so fast Naugus," Sonic said as he now has all seven Chaos Emeralds. "Time to fit into something more comfortable," Sonic absorbs the emeralds to unleash waves of Chaos energy to shake the whole area. Sonic becomes Super Sonic to swiftly knock Naugus into a building.
"Yes, Sonic got his Super form. This is going to be over soon," Mina said to join beside Sonic.
"Well, you both managed to get rid of the Onyx Horde but I have something just as valuable," Naugus shows them the Planet Egg in his hands. Mina and Sonic noted this instantly for they got very worried.
"Where did you get that?" Mina demanded.
"I found it within a valley in an unknown location. I learned about the fate of the Metarex and the Seedrians. Through that, I heard about Planet Eggs and the insane power they hold. This one is very special, it holds all the life forces of this planet along with Light Gaia's powers and Dark Gaia's powers as well," Naugus said as he grins to see the couple are getting worried by this.
"This isn't good," Mina said as Naugus absorb the power of the Planet Egg for tons of energy is empowering his body which is shaking the entire area and even the entire landmass with Shadow and the others feeling this from Empire City.
"What is that?" Shadow wondered as Whisper and Ace cleaned up the Badniks within the city.
"Gee, what is that earthquake?" Ace asked.
"This isn't natural, I feel a massive amount of power in the north. I can feel Sonic's power become similar to Super Sonic. This is bad," Shadow said.
'What do we do?" Whisper asked.
"We need to have faith in Sonic and Mina to deal with this. If they can't stop this, we are in big trouble," Shadow said.
"Come on Shadow, you are pretty strong as well," Ace said as Shadow isn't back at 100 percent since Naugus gravely injure him with a powerful spell that knocked him out of his Chaos State.
"Not in my current state," Shadow said as he stares into the distance feeling a dark presence getting even stronger than Super Sonic. "Come on, you two can do this. We believe in you," Shadow said to continue watching the situation from afar.
Elsewhere Tails and Nicole are detecting huge energy surges to the far north. "Miles, we have found three powerful energy signals. The two being Super Sonic and Rainbow Mina but the third one is vastly stronger than they are," Nicole said as she is very worried about this.
"Sonic and Mina if anyone can beat that wizard is those two. They have been through some crazy stuff in the past. We can count on them," Tails said to have faith in those two.
"I do as well, I hope they have the strength to go through this," Nicole said as they both monitor the battle.
Back with Super Sonic and Rainbow Mina who witness the old wizard gain more power with his body becoming youthful while maintaining his muscular build. "Oh, this is impressive and then some," Naugus said as he becomes Ultra Naugus to surge with dark magical power.
"Unreal, he has taken in the Planet Egg," Sonic said.
"Sonic, we need to take it away from him," Mina said as they rush at him. Naugus smirks at them for he grabs their arms to send waves of electricity to zap them causing them a ton of pain. He tosses them aside with Super Sonic kicking Naugus multiple times with Naugus taking his blows like they were nothing.
"Pathetic," Naugus unleashes a gust of wind to blow Super Sonic away as he summons waves of crystals to entrap Sonic in one. "Aqua Laser," he fires a massive beam of water to slam into Sonic to send him flying into several buildings sending them crashing into the streets below.
"I have become too powerful for you now. Once I leave this planet, without the Planet Egg. Your Mobius will wither and die very soon, becoming a lifeless rock in space," Naugus acting very mighty with Sonic slamming into a rocky wall.
"Don't count on it, Mina," Sonic said as both went at light speed but Naugus is easily using his magic to negate their attacks. Mina flares up her powers but Naugus is unfazed by this.
"That trick doesn't work anymore," Naugus said as he blows them away with them both crashing into buildings.
"Gee, he has become too powerful. He can even bypass my invulnerability, this isn't good. Chaos Control," Super Sonic teleports to get behind Ultra Naugus but becomes smoke to easily let his attacks hit empty air.
"Too slow, Quickster," he taps his staff to encase Sonic and Mina in crystals to make them explode causing even more damage to them. "I think it's time we wrap this up," Naugus teleports out of the underground city to float above the mountains. "Genocide Orb," he raises his staff above his head to gather dark energy into a ball but makes it even more massive than before.
The couple flies out of the underground city to go outside to see Naugus's spell get so large that it's taller than skyscrapers. "This is insane, there is enough power to flatten the entire mountain range here," Mina said.
"Prepare to die Quickster," Naugus tosses the dark orb to speed toward the duo.
"Sonic, what now. That spell is too strong to block," Mina said as Sonic looks at his future wife to make a tough decision. He pushes Mina out of the way to prepare to hold back the orb himself. "Sonic, what are you doing?" she questioned as Super Sonic braces himself to raise his hands.
The orb slams into Sonic with him trying to hold it back but the spell is too powerful with him digging his heels into the ground and constantly getting pushed back by it. Super Sonic is struggling to push it back as Mina looks over to see Sonic getting overwhelmed by the spell. Sonic is slowly fading away into the light as the spell is engulfing him. "Sonic!" Mina screamed as she is getting blown away by the force of the spell.
"Die," Naugus triggers the Genocide Orb for it unleashes a giant explosion so bright it can be seen in space and its power strong enough to be felt across the entire world. After the spell ends, the mountain range has been completely destroyed and reduced to a crater as big as three Station Squares. Mina still in her Rainbow State gets out of the rubble to see the terrorizing power of Ultra Naugus's mystical might on full display.
"This is insane, Sonic. Sonic!" Mina shouted as she looms over the deep crater to see Sonic lying in the middle of it who is knocked out of his super form and the Chaos Emeralds scattered across the crater. She flies over and lands beside him to see he is gravely injured covered in bloody wounds which are nearly fatal.
"Mina, thank goodness you are okay," Sonic said as he is coughing blood on the ground. "Shit, I am not in a good position right now," Sonic said as Mina is quite angry with him.
"Why, why did you do that. We could have stopped it together," Mina said as they both know she would be in the same condition as him if she joined in.
"You know that is not true Mina besides I would be a bad husband if I can't protect my wife," Sonic said with a weak smile for Mina is shocked by this.
'Wife?!" she is beyond confused as Sonic pulls out a box from his backpack.
"Yes, I wanted to surprise you earlier but here we are now," Sonic hands her small box to see it's an emerald engagement ring.
Mina is on the verge of tears at this. "Are you kidding me, now are all times," Mina is crying to look at the beautiful ring in front of her.
"I saved up just to pick up this baby for you. Mina, you make my life so interesting and even at this point. I don't regret it one bit," Sonic said as Mina isn't holding back tears anymore mixed with sorrow and happiness.
"Sonic, you mean everything to me. You inspire me to be the best I can be and you were the hero who help me from a shy girl to a strong woman," Mina said.
"So what do you say?" Sonic asked weakly for Mina put the ring on her ring finger.
"Yes, I always dreamed of this but not like this," Mina said as Sonic's eyes are getting heavy with a big smile on his face.
"Good, I love you. Mina," Sonic said as Mina gives him a big kiss for she feels Sonic's time is almost up.
"I love you too Sonic, always have," she said.
"I need to take a nap, wake me up when Naugus is dead," Sonic said as he closes his eyes as his body goes limp.
"Sonic, Sonic!" Mina screamed as Sonic is slowly dying from his injuries.
"Mina, what's happening out there. I detected a massive energy surge, the whole planet felt it too," Tails said on the radio.
"Tails," Mina wept as she is holding onto Sonic's dying body to lie his head on her chest.
"What wrong Mina?" Tails asked.
"Sonic is dying," Mina said in a weak tone as Tails is in disbelief. He felt his knees get weak and collapse onto the floor.
"No, it can't be. This is Sonic we are talking about, he would get back up, crack a smile, and keep fighting," Tails said trying to find a light at the end of this tunnel but Mina knows this is a pipe dream.
"Tails if he doesn't get help soon. He is going to die," Mina said softly with Naugus watching this from afar to be amused by her sorrow.
"How touching, you can be husband and wife in the afterlife Mongoose," Naugus said as Mina lies Sonic's head on the dirt to face the evil wizard.
"You evil monster. You seek power in exchange for wiping out this whole planet," Mina's anger is rising with her power beginning to surge.
"Yes, this isn't my Mobius anyway. I will rule over my world while this version will die and become a lifeless husk," Naugus said.
"I will stop you for the sake of my husband, my friends, my family, my fans, and this world. I will not let you get away with this, Frenzy!" Mina empowers her body to push it well beyond her limits.
"Where did this come from?" Naugus questioned with her rainbow aura becoming even brighter and her face etched with righteous anger and rage at him. He noticed her power did increase but it was very unstable due to her swirling emotions. "Only a matter of time before she burns herself out," Naugus thought to remain calm and focused.
Mina looks at the emerald engagement ring her dying husband gave her to feel a new resolve to put an end to Naugus for good. "Sonic, Mama, and everyone. Give me the strength to fight back or our world is doomed," Mina makes her final stand against Ultra Naugus with Sonic holding onto life by a thread and the world's fate hangs in the balance within these last moments of this final battle against the evil wizard.
