The day that Viserys stumbled upon some of his grandchildren along the riverbank was the day that Alicent finally discovered where Rhaenyra lived. Since arriving in the village, she'd been seeking out the residence due to a conversation she'd had with her father before leaving on the journey.
Flashback:
"Father, I don't see why you insist that I join my husband on this foolish journey of his! Surely its better for me to stay here and let the people see that their Queen has not abandoned them like their idiot King!"
"If you had been successful in doing your duty Daughter, then absolutely! We might even be able to launch a successful coup to overthrow Viserys and name your son King! However, in the many years you've been wed, you've scarcely even had your belly quicken with child despite how often you've been in your husband's bed. The forced taking of Rhaenyra's maidenhood was supposed to guarantee that you quickly bore a son to the King so that the realm would not long be without an heir. The sacrifice was not great enough to appease the favor of the Gods so more must be done!"
"What do you mean father? What new sacrifice must be made?"
"I know its very distasteful, my girl, but sacrifices must be made for the greater good of our House, the Faith and the Realm. You must sacrifice Rhaenyra and her entire family. Every child, her husband and Rhaenyra herself must die. If you can successfully end them all, I do believe the Gods will finally find favor with you and you will soon be the mother of several fine Princes. However, do be sure that you find a way to end them without their deaths being able to be pinned on you. Otherwise, this will all be for naught as Viserys still cares far too much for that wicked girl. Not to mention what those filthy heathens might do to you for ending that family. Do you understand me, Daughter?"
"I do, Father and I will do as you ask. Nothing is more important than seizing total power away from these incesteous dragons and restoring House Hightower and the Faith to complete power in the Realm. Plus, to know I've rid the world of the spoiled rotten, good-for-nothing wretch and her bastards, will be a pleasure."
End Flashback
Present time:
Fourteen nights after arriving in the Seven Forsaken place, and after Viserys, Corlys, Rhaenys and their retinue had all retired to their beds in the Inn, Alicent donned a thick black hooded cloak and snuck out of the building. After exiting the structure, she lit a small torch in a bazaar and headed towards the place where she knew her former mistress and family dwelt.
As she approached the simple home made of stone, thatch, wattle and daub, sticks, and simple wooden poles, Alicent could not help but curl her lip in disgust. How the mighty, spoiled Princess had fallen to have to live in such a ruin. Clearly such a suitable place for such a self-centered, heathenous, whore to have to spend the remainder of her wretched life. Thankfully, soon the whore, her bastard lover and her bastard children would soon be gone to the Seven Hells for their abundant sins while she, the ever dutiful and pious Queen would soon swell with the first of her numerous sons. Sons the Gods would bless her with, for ridding the world of such great evil.
Checking to ensure she was all alone, she decided to use the weather to her advantage as it was a particularly windy night. First, she found some loose debris that seemed like it could possibly just happen to block the doorway of the home and then she tipped over the closest bazaar to the house. Since that didn't manage to set the structure alight, she found some loose tinder and set it before the flames still coming from the bazaar and let them first get fire and then fly toward the thatched roof of the house. Once she saw that the thatched roof looked like it was starting to burn, she realized that she needed to topple more bazaars in order to cover up her crime. This made her realize that more people could die other than her intended targets. However, since the people of the village were not devoted followers of the Seven, she figured that their deaths were inconsequential.
Following her toppling of over a dozen bazaars throughout the village, she returned to Rhaenyra's home as she wanted to ensure none escaped and if any did, well, she had a torch in hand and could set the individuals alight on her own.
