Even as his parents, the King and Queen, made their preparations to return to Westeros, Laenor was finishing his own preparations. Before his parents set out on their journey to Mercia, they had decided that it was about time for them to abandon High Tide and Driftmark and make their home with Daemon, Laena and their children in Volantis. There just wasn't anything left for them in Westeros and none of them was eager to witness the complete fall of the House of the Dragon and the chaos that was inevitable to befall the kingdoms in the ensuing years and decades.

This meant that Laenor had been tasked with packing up all of the families' remaining valuables and wealth, including the Driftwood throne, and sending them via ship to Volantis to his beloved sister and her family who would get everything arranged in the home his father had purchased there years earlier after finding out the truth about his cousin's true fate.

Even as High Tide was emptied, Laenor couldn't help but feel a bit sad. Driftmark had been the home to many generations of his family since even before the Doom of Valyria and now, while it was completely understandable why, his family had to abandon their ancestral home. However, he also knew his good brother, Daemon, fully understood that as he had rarely even come to Driftmark since Rhaenyra had been banished from Westeros. He had not stepped foot on Dragonstone since he had chosen to take all of the dragon eggs and hatchlings that resided on the island to his home beyond the Black Walls of Volantis as well as as many Targaryen relics and texts as he could, leaving the ancient fortress bare. Somehow, taking all of these away triggered all of the other dragons on the island to follow him and within months of the dragons settling in Volantis, Dragonstone's volcano erupted. The ancient outpost belonging to the Targaryen's was no more.

It seemed as though the only dragon left in Westeros would soon be Dreamfyre, and that was only because she was chained in the Dragonpit. However, his mother did plan to have the Dragon Keepers remove her chains right before Rhaenys departed Westeros on her own dragon so that, at least, Dreamfyre would have a choice to leave.

Now, this decision to leave had not been shared with his entire family as his very greedy uncle, Vaemond, had definitely not been informed nor had anyone else. They would find out soon enough though when their funds ran dry and they couldn't get any from his father anymore. They could keep the castle though.
