The return to Westeros was nothing like Viserys had imagined. He thought he would return almost like a conqueror with his wayward daughter and several of her bastards in tow to ensure the greatness of his reign. Yet in reality, his beloved baby girl had openly scorned him at every turn, preferring her bastard lover to spending quality time with her King and had absolutely refused to let him take even one of her many children home with him.
Not just that, but his dearest wife had lost both her hands and had been permanently scared by those barbarians and a previously unknown cruel streak in his little treasure. The only good thing he was returning home with is a possible way to ensure Alicent finally did give him a son. That is if she was not broken and unable to do her duty like her father had promised him.
As for Alicent, she was returning home shamed. She had failed in the task her father had commanded her and had been punished for doing the right thing by those wicked pagans. Oh, she could only hope that soon the Seven would visit them with the same fury as they had shown Dragonstone and wipe their iniquity off the face of the world for all that they had done to her. She especially hoped Rhaenyra faced the most cruel and agonizing punishments for all of her horrible and wicked deeds.
Upon their arrival home, their greeting was also not what either the King or Queen expected. Everywhere they went, it seemed as though people were whispering about them, including among the small folk.
"My Love, you must order everyone on punishment of death that they cannot mock me!" Alicent cried once safely ensconced in the King's chambers. "I was victimized by the cruelty of your savage daughter and her new people. You know that I did nothing to deserve that which was done to me!"
"I know, my dear and they will be punished, especially once you give me my son. I know you have no love for those people, but I truly believe that the Holy Man wanted to help bless us and so soon we will try his methods and motherhood will soon brighten your countenance with joy! Our precious prince will be with us in less than a sun's turn from now. As for now, I will make a decree that we had been attacked by savages who decided to harm you in a ritual to their Gods and that it was them that stole your hands."
"And what of your daughter's part in all of it?!" Alicent shrieked shrilly. "The people deserve to know how far Aemma's daughter has truly fallen so that none may whisper her name with any degree of honor or respect."
"Now dearest, I will not shame my daughter's name right now, but once our son is born, then I will reveal the full truth to the people."
With that, Viserys summoned the Maester to take his wife to her chambers and tend to her there.
