Viserys was now 75 years old and despite the realm's great abundance of Queen's, they lacked any princes or princesses. By this point, the council had completely realized that their now crippled King was never going to sire another child. He was not going to have another heir of his blood.

Even the most staunch council members who most strongly upheld the idea that women were not fit to rule, had sent countless letters to Nyra, begging her to return to Westeros to become the land's first Queen regent. They figured that a Queen regent who already had great success in the child bed and had many sons, some who were already grown with offspring of their own, would provide the realm with much needed stability after decades of the realm lacking heirs. The former Princess Rhaenyra had plenty of them.

However, despite all of their desperate pleas, Nyra held steadfast in her refusal.

The council sent messages to her sons and daughters, promising them the crown if they would come to Westeros but even her children refused. They all knew about the extreme harshness of their mother's betrayal and banishment and, as such, had no desire to take any part of that. Plus, they hated the Faith of the Seven and proudly held their own beliefs which they knew would not be readily accepted by the people of Westeros.

When the council finally had to admit that they would not get a positive response from Nyra, they turned East.

They tried to coerce Daemon, Rhaenys, Laena and the children of Daemon and Laena to return to take the crown but, again, they were harshly refused.

As a last resort, they recalled that, at the Great Council, some of Princess Saera's children had put their names forward to inherit. They decided to reach out to them, asking if they or any of their in was interested in the Iron Throne and, yet again, they were rejected.

It seemed like all those of Targaryen blood had decided that the Iron Throne was not something they wanted or needed.

The council was absolutely lost as to what they could do.
