Alas, Viserys would valiantly hold on for another two years before finally accepting that his family was not coming to see him off to the afterlife.
His beautiful daughter, now a woman of 50 was the proud grandmother of 56 grandchildren, and counting, since her youngest five children were still unwed and the others were still growing their families. Viserys fully expected her to have at least 100 grandchildren between her 16 offspring. While he wished he could meet all of them, he was at least grateful to the Gods' for allowing him to see them in his dreams. Perhaps one day, they would come to forgive him.
Viserys knew and could understand that his only child had decided to put her family before him since he was the one who pushed her away. In another life, perhaps all of them would live either in the Red Keep or Dragonstone and they would all come to gather around his deathbed. Yet, due to his own foolishness, they weren't there.
Viserys also knew that his baby brother was a proud grandsire to 34 grandchildren and counting. However, this was largely due to Daemon's youngest son enjoying the cunt too much and having sired 12 bastards so far in addition to the eight he had gotten on his twin-wife. The eldest girls, another set of twins, did not seem eager to expand their broods with six and four children respectively and the middle two, a brother-sister couple, only currently having four, though Viserys expected that they were likely to have at least a couple more in the years to come.
If only he had not pushed his brother away so that, perhaps, he could have been as much of a loving uncle to his brother's children as his brother had been to sweet Rhaenyra.
He also envied his cousin Rhaenys, who despite being 82 years of age was still quite spry. She knew each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved them well. However, Viserys also knew that the loss of her Lord husband four years previous weighed heavy on her and she longed for the day when the two would reunite. Corlys had been 94 at the time of his passing and had seen many of his great grandchildren come into the world and had been able to introduce them to the wonders the world had to offer.
Viserys could not blame his aging cousin for not coming to see him on his deathbed either due to this.
Why had he pushed them all away?
Everyone of Viserys' kin had closer kin that they wanted to be with rather than him.
In his final days, Viserys refused to see any of his other wives or mistresses but instead drafted a message setting them all free and ensuring that they would have enough money to survive without him.
