To Prince Daemon, Princess Rhaenys, Lord Laenor and Lady Leana,

It is with heavy hearts that we, the Ruling Council of the Seven Kingdoms, must inform you that King Viserys has died. He had been suffering from physical and mental ailments for many years that no Maester, healer or religious person could fix.

He leaves behind 70 Queens, 42 Concubines, 56 Mistresses, and 112 lesser mistresses, all of whom he had previously made arrangements for. In his life, he only sired one child who survived to adulthood, the now Countess of Dunham of England who was formerly known as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen.

The Countess has 16 living children and more than 56 grandchildren in which she shares with her husband of 34 years, the Earl Sihtric of Dunham. None of them were present at the time of his death.

With no dragons or dragon riders available to light his pier, Viserys was sent to the Gods' through torches carried by his living Queens. This was done in the outer bailey of the Red Keep. His ashes were buried in the floor beneath the skull of his dragon.

In his final days, he spoke of his jealousy he has for you, Princess, in the bond you have with your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and how he knows its his fault he did not have the same with his own.

As for you, Prince Daemon, he admitted you were right about all of the vipers surrounding him and seemed to truly feel bad about how he used and discarded you. He wished he could have been the uncle to yours and Lady Laena's children as you had once been to his own daughter.

We all stand with your family in your time of grief and if you need anything, don't hesitate to let us know.

Sincerely,

Ruling Council of the Seven Kingdoms

The letter was first read by Princess Rhaenys before she passed it on to your younger cousin and good son.

"Viserys has finally died. Apparently, the Gods' refused to grant him more children despite having a host of women in his bed and Keep. Nyra has a new title and has at least 22 more grandchildren than her uncle, despite being 20 years younger than him."

"Yes, but the little minx also has 10 more children and was a mere 17 when her first was born compared to my 37 and Laena's 23. She also didn't birth her last until she was 37 while Laena was only 31 when the birth of our second set of twins caused issues that stopped us from having more."

"And Nyra had two sets of triplets in addition to two sets of twins. The Gods' truly blessed her womb, possibly in spite of her sire."

Daemon laughed, "I can imagine the Gods' doing that. Making Viserys see everything he could have had but pushed away because of his pet vipers. I wish I knew of a way I could have protected him like father had wished for me to do."

"I doubt even the Spring Prince himself could have protected Viserys from himself, Daemon. I remember when we were youths, Viserys was always very entitled and easily manipulated. He always thought he deserved the best of everything without having to work for any of it. I knew that I faced an uphill battle due to my sex, even if my father had lived to become King and I, being his only child, had been his heir. That's one of the reasons I chose to marry Corlys. He was a very rich man of Valyrian descent and he had his own navy plus he wasn't a follower of the Faith. Ultimately when my father died and Viserys wound up inheriting the throne, I, at least, was still able to claim a great deal of comfort as the wife of the richest man in the realm and that was something Otto and his cronies did not have success taking from me.

You were the second son of a second son. You always knew that you would have to fight for a place in the world as inheritances weren't just given to someone like you. So you got good at fighting and became an accomplished scholar and dragonrider. You rode to Battle and acquired your own wealth and glory. You've made your own way and have built a good life on your own.

Viserys, on the other hand, always felt like the world and the Gods' owed him everything. He was never content with what he had. He had a beautiful and kind wife who gave him a beautiful, strong and intelligent daughter but it was never enough. He had to have a son. His pets insisted that he needed a son. He killed Aemma for a son. He had a devoted brother but he pushed you away. He let his vipers destroy his precious daughter and allowed them to insist that she be thrown away.

Ultimately, what did it give him? He died alone. His daughter and only child refused to visit him on his deathbed as she's far too busy with her own life in England along with her husband, children and grandchildren. His 'beloved' first wife was butchered on his orders. His second wife attempted to murder his daughter and her family and ultimately died a traitor's death by losing her head after her crimes were exposed to the point even he could no longer make excuses for them. I've had no desire to return to the cesspit Viserys made of the Red Keep to see my dying cousin. You refused to return to see your dying brother, preferring to attempt to prevent your own second son from siring even more bastards, something you managed to successfully avoid doing. None of your children or grandchildren have ever expressed a desire to meet their Uncle nor have any of Saera's living descendants desired to meet their cousin, not even to see him die.

As for all of his other women, what have any of them ever managed to achieve? It would be a different story if even a fraction of them had even managed to birth girls, let alone boys. Yet not one of his nearly 300 women managed that.

Viserys destroyed and doomed himself and he cannot blame anyone else for that."

"I completely agree with you. I would have loved to have stood at my brother's side to his dying day but, there's only so many times he was able to push me away before I just couldn't keep doing that to myself. It wasn't worth it. He wasn't worth it. Only Rhaenyra was worth it and once she was gone, there was nothing left for me there. Volantis is my home as England is hers. I'm glad you, Corlys and Laenor saw the light and relocated here. Laena and I have truly loved having all of you around and, cousin, I do truly miss Old Corlys. He was a wonderful man and I'm glad that you had him."

Rhaenys had to wipe tears from her eyes at the mention of her late husband, "I really was blessed by the Gods to have him, wasn't I?"

"You were, and together you brought forth my own blessing in the form of Laena. She further blessed all of us with the six children she gave me who have since provided us with even more blessings, even if I do wish my youngest wasn't quite so eager to make them."
