The Chase
It had been four years. Four years since that dreadful time he spent on that mountain. He had spent four years evading the goddess and her minions. Every time they got close to finding him, he would slip into the nearest city and hide in plain sight, blending in with the other people on the street.
He knew that he looked extremely different to when she had last seem him so the description her Hunters had would be inaccurate and he used that to his advantage. Even walking right past them unnoticed sometimes. He recognized the two girls that always seemed to by in charge, they had also been on that mountain with him. The girls both had black hair, but that's where the comparisons ended. The one had long black hair, she was tall and lean and had an olive complexion just like the goddess she served. The other girl had choppy, short black hair, she was short and a little less lean than the other. Her skin was pale and she had striking lightning eyes.
William enjoyed teasing these two huntresses the most knowing that he recognized them but they had no idea what he looked like. His brown hair was now a short dirty blonde, after it had been washed and cut, removing the dirt from it. His skin was still nice and tanned. He was now almost nineteen and was six foot three. His body was quite muscular now from fighting monsters, living in the forest and running from the Hunters for almost four years straight. After holding the sky, it almost seemed as though his muscles had held some memory of how heavy it was because he was far stronger than his ripped body showed.
The Hunters only took breaks when they were needed for the two wars that had happened. But as soon as they were over they were back to chasing him around the country. Probably the biggest change about him was his eyes, Artemis had only seen his dark blue, Atlantic ocean eyes that were filled with anger, hate and pain. Now his eyes were back to their original bright Caribbean water blue, they were so bright they almost glowed, which was sometimes a pain when trying to stay discrete, luckily there were sunglasses.
This time however he wasn't running from the Hunters. This time it was Artemis chasing him through the forest. She had finally found him and boy was she pissed.
Flashback
William had noticed the lack of monsters in the recent months, and figured there must have been another war on the horizon, his contact on Olympus had confirmed this and told him to head towards Camp Half-Blood as the campers may need his help.
He had set up shop outside the camps borders and watched as the Roman's set up camp with extreme efficiency. He watched as the events before him unfolded, never stepping in knowing there was nothing his presence would solve. He watched as the Roman's attacked the Greeks. He watched as a boy carried a massive statue of Athena and a girl on his back as they popped out of a shadow.
The most shocking event though was when a greek warship suddenly flew through the air out of no where, he recognized Annabeth and Percy as they climbed out of the ship. Still he stayed in his tree, waiting for the moment that he felt they would need help with. That came soon after, when a giant lady made of dirt appeared out of the ground. 'Yeah that's probably it' William thought to himself.
He dropped out of his tree and headed towards the dirt face, summoning his sword. He had just stepped into the camp boundaries for the first time when a massive fireball carried the dirt face up into the sky. Neither the lady or the fireball ever came back down and the campers began to cheer. 'Well I guess I've been sitting in that tree for no reason' He thought to himself. William turned around to pack up his camp but came face to face with the most gorgeous woman in the world, he knew who she was immediately but her beautiful silver eyes only confirmed it.
He was face to face with the goddess Artemis and she looked pissed. 'Gods dam it Hestia is this why you sent me here?' He mentally question the goddess. "Language" He heard back. William rolled his eyes as he looked for his best path for escape. He figured that running through the camp and the campers would be his best way to lose her enough to at least gain some separation from the angry goddess.
She was about to say something when he took off towards the group of campers. Artemis let out a growl, she would not let this boy escape her this time. She chased him into the crowd of campers following closely behind every move he made. The demigods looked around in confusion as two human shaped blurs sped through their groups but thought nothing of it when nothing happened. Artemis was gaining on him when she ran into a body. Both people were sent tumbling to the ground. "Lady Artemis?" The body's girlfriend asked. "Not now Annabeth" Artemis answered as she sped off following William as best she could.
Annabeth pulled Percy to his feet "What the heck was that?" He asked. "Lady Artemis appeared to be chasing something" Annabeth answered as they walked back towards their friends.
End Flashback
Artemis had been chasing him for six days, he hoped that he could lose her in the city but she was determined this time and saw through all his regular tricks. He tried to cross the rivers, use public transportation, blend in. Everything he tried, she was right behind him the whole time. And now he was getting tired, he had barely eaten anything and he hadn't gotten any sleep.
He knew she was closing in and tried one last trick, figuring he could hide inside a building. It would take her forever to search the whole thing, especially one of the huge ones, and just his luck he found himself in front of the Empire State Building. 'There's no way she'll find me in here' He thought smiling to himself.
He walked calmly into the atrium so as to not draw attention to himself. He walked over to the elevator and pressed a random floor. The doors slid closed. "Haha! I got you!" The only other person in the elevator exclaimed. William turned to see Artemis in a business suit, she had been holding a newspaper in front of her face. "L-lady Artemis, it's good to see you" William said. His face heating up.
