"What is this!" Bella yelled, finally reaching him.

"Bella I can explain," Charlie stated.

"Explain what!?" She continued yelling. "Explain how you have been lying to me for my entire life!"

Jasper was pulled out of his thoughts by his phone ringing. When he looked down, he was shocked to see who it was.

"Peter what's up?" Jasper questioned answering the phone. It was weird for Peter to be calling Jasper. He generally just showed up out of nowhere. He only called in an emergency.

"Are you guys still in Forks?"

Now

"No, we left a couple months ago," Jasper explained to his longtime friend. Jasper could hear his friend give a short sigh over the phone. "What's going on Peter?" He questioned his friend.

"I was hunting with Char when I got the sudden feeling that something bad was going to happen and I was needed in Forks," Peter explained to his friend and brother. "I thought maybe something had happened."

"I can't imagine why something would draw you to Forks since we are no longer there," Jasper mused.

"Maybe I will check it out," Peter replied back. "Your brother did have a human mate from Forks, did she join you guys?"

"Unfortunately, Edward forced us to leave her behind," he explained. He did not like that they had chosen to leave Bella behind especially with Victoria still out there.

"Maybe I will go to Forks and see how she is doing." Peter stated. He did not like the idea of them leaving a human behind with the knowledge of their world, especially after Jasper informed them of what happened with the nomad coven. "Just curious," He continued "Have you heard anything from Klaus recently?" He was beginning to think that his feelings were about Bella and that they were somehow related to Klaus.

"Last I heard Klaus was living in some small town in Virginia," Jasper told his friend. He was shocked that Peter asked about Klaus. What did Klaus have to do with Bella? He put that thought aside. He did not want to think about Bella and Klaus being in the same place. Sure Klaus was Jasper's friend, but Klaus could also be rash and impulsive. "Whatever you do, just be careful." He finally told Peter. Jasper knew once Peter set his mind on something there was nothing he could do to persuade him otherwise.

Back in Forks, Renee had just pulled up to Charlie's house. Renee looked at the house remembering all the memories she had with Charlie and the moment she decided to leave. Renee loved Charlie, but it was too dangerous for them to be around the supernatural. Too many things drew them in and Renee could no longer put Bella at risk. If anyone found out she was still alive they would come after. She took a deep breath before knocking on the door.

"Renee," Charlie breathed as he answered the door. A wave of relief flowed through him seeing his ex-wife standing at the door. "How is Phil?" Charlie asked, trying to be polite.

"He's doing good, confused by my sudden departure. But that is to be suspected." She told her ex-husband. "How is Bella?"

"She's confused and angry," Charlie told his ex-wife. She could see her look of concern. "I asked Billy and Old Quil to come as well. I figured" at Renee's confused look she continued. "I figured it might be easier to explain with them here."

Renee nodded her head and followed Charlie into the house. In the living room waiting for them was Billy and Old Quil. Billy was in his wheelchair next to the couch, with Old Quil sitting in the rocking chair next to him. "Where's Bella?" Renee asked when she noticed her daughter wasn't in the room.

"She's upstairs in her room," Charlie told her, nodding his head to the stairs. "She has only come down for food since she went up there last night."

Renee nodded her head before going upstairs to get her daughter with Charlie following closely behind her. She paused before knocking on her daughter's bedroom door. "Bella," Renee said softly. She heard no response on the other end of the door. "Bella, can I come in?" She questioned in silence.

When she received no response, Renee turned the knob and opened the door to her daughter's room. "Charlie!" She gasped in shock.

Charlie looked in his daughter's room to find the window open and Bella missing. Charlie immediately thought something bad happened to his daughter, but when his cop and wolf instinct took over it told him something else. Charlie could make out his daughter's scent and the faint leftover scent of his daughter's cold one ex-boyfriend. The dresser drawers were open, and clothes were missing and the bag that was normally under his daughter's bed was also missing. Bella's truck was still in the driveway, so Charlie concluded that she must have called one of her friends or took that bike that she and Jacob were working on.

"It'll be okay Renee," Charlie quickly reassured his ex-wife.

"How? Our daughter is missing!" Renee exclaimed.

In another part of Forks, Bella was currently at the meadow Edward had taken her to. She knew she should have stayed at the house to talk to her parents, but she was so upset that they lied to her that she needed to get away. The only place she felt safe right now was their meadow. She had come to terms with him leaving and was getting better. Now she went to their meadow for the peace and quiet. It was her place away from reality and away from the world. The place she could hide and pretend of a better world. Of a time where everything was simple and easy.

She could not believe that her parents would lie to her about her real identity. Why was making her believe that she was Bella Swan so important? Why was it necessary to create fake death certificates? Nothing made sense, and although Bella knew deep down that her parents were probably trying to protect her. She just didn't want to admit it.

Bella took in the view remembering everything that had happened, despite the pain in her chest as she did so. It was so peaceful being back that she almost didn't notice the surprised red eyed vampire stepped out from the tree line in front of her.

"Laurent," Bella exclaimed in shock, not expecting to find the vampire in the meadow. Laurent ran with James's coven when they had first met. Last she heard he had headed up to Alaska to live with The Cullen's cousins. A sense of comfort ran through her at the thought of seeing some she knew. Someone who might have information about The Cullens.

"Bella?" Laurent asked, surprised to see the young girl in front of him.

"You remember," she said with a smile. She started to move towards him, but finally took a good look at him and noticed bright red irises. A sense of fear and dread filled her..

"I didn't expect to see you here," Laurent informed her.

"Isn't it the other way around?" Bella asked, trying to divert the vampire's attention. She had a bad feeling about his sudden appearance. "I do live here. I thought you'd gone to Alaska?"

"You're right," he stated, sauntering forward a little. "I did go to Alaska. Still, I didn't expect…," He paused almost like he was confused or thinking about something. "When I found the Cullen place empty, I thought they'd moved on."

"Oh." Bella stated. She took a step back taking in the seriousness of the situation. She was out in the woods all alone with no one to protect her. She took a deep breath trying to stay calm herself down. "They did move on," She finally stated, hoping that Laurent didn't catch the fear in her voice.

"Hmm, I'm surprised they left you behind," he mused, clicking his teeth together a little as he did so. "Weren't you sort of a pet of theirs?" He finished with faux innocence almost like he had more information than he was letting on.

Bella smiled cautiously, "Something like that."

"Hmm," he said, thoughtful again. He began swaying, taking a few steps as he did so. Bella took another step back trying to prevent him from blocking her way out. "Do they visit often?" He questioned mockingly like he already knew the answer.

"Now and again." Bella responded, trying to keep her voice light and friendly. She did not want to give him any reason to doubt her. "The time seems longer to me, I imagine. You know how they get distracted…" she babbled on, as she tried to force her mouth to agree with her inner thoughts.

"Hmm," he said again. "The house smelled like it had been vacant for a while..."

Bella caught Laurent's tone. She knew he was trying to catch her in a lie. "They don't like to stay at the house anymore," She rattled off trying to think of any excuse to explain the absence of their scent. "I'll have to mention to Carlisle that you stopped by. He'll be sorry they missed your visit." she continued on trying to insinuate that the Cullens would know he was here if something happened to her. Her mind drifted to him."But I probably shouldn't mention it to...Edward, I suppose he has such a temper...well, I'm sure you remember. He's still touchy about the whole James thing." Bella knew she had to emphasize Edward's dislike of James and the situation. She needed him to believe what she was saying. Even thinking about him tore through her heart sending a crippling wave of pain that on most days would have her holding her stomach in response. But she could not show Laurent how much his words hurt her.

"Is he really?" Laurent asked skeptically.

Bella tried to keep the panic out of her voice as she replied. "Mm-hmm." She paused, taking in Laurent's movement. "So how are things working out in Denali? Carlisle said you were staying with Tanya?" Bella flinched at how high pitched her voice sounded.

"I like Tanya very much," Laurent told Bella with a sly smile. He knew at this point she was just trying to make conversation and distract him. He moved slightly closer to the teen.. "And her sister Irina even more...I've never stayed in one place for so long before, and I enjoy the advantages, the novelty of it. But, the restrictions are difficult...I'm surprised that any of them can keep it up for long." He gave a short pause.. "Sometimes I cheat." He smirked evilly.

Bella took notice of his stance and tried to move backwards. "Oh," she said quietly. "Jasper has problems with that, too."

"Really? Is that why they left?" Laurent asked, taunting the young human.

"No," Bella answered sharply yet honestly. "Jasper is more careful at home."

"Yes," Laurent agreed. "I am, too." He took another step forward like he was about to pounce.

"Did Victoria ever find you?" Bella asked, trying to distract him. It probably wasn't the smartest idea but it was the first thing that came to the forefront of her mind.

"Yes," he said, taking a hesitant step forward. "I actually came here as a favor to her. She won't be happy about this." he finished smirking evilly.

"About what?" She continued to question him, trying to divert his attention. "About me killing you," he answered with a seductive purr almost trying to lure her to him. Bella staggered back knowing what would happen next. "She wanted to save that part for herself. She's sort of...put out with you, Bella." he continued to explain.

"Me?" Bella squeaked in fear.

Laurent chuckled at the fear in Bella's voice. "I know, it seems a little backward to me, too. But James was her mate, and your Edward killed him." he told her. "She thought it more appropriate to kill you than Edward …fair turnabout, mate for mate…" He continued emphasizing every word. "She asked me to get the lay of the land for her, so to speak. I didn't imagine you would be so easy to get to…" Laurent took another step forward, Bella matched his step with taking one backwards. It was almost like a game of cat and mouse. "So maybe her plan was flawed—apparently it wouldn't be the revenge she imagined."

Laurent took another pause. He took a moment to survey Bella, taking in the changes in her scent. "I mean since you must not mean very much to him if he left you here … unprotected." Laurent stated emphasizing every word like he knew how much they affected her. Like he knew how Edward's absence had taken a toll on her life. Almost like he had been watching everything unfold right in front of his eyes.

He frowned slightly almost like he remembered something important. "I suppose she'll be angry, all the same."But then a mischievous grin showed on his face "But don't worry, you won't feel a thing, I promise." He lied to her. Bella stumbled back in fear, catching a branch and falling backwards and cutting her hand on something. "Mouthwatering," he purred, taking in her scent.

Bella closed her eyes and raised her hands in front of her preparing for Laurent to pounce on her, like doing it would protect her in some way. When nothing happened after a couple seconds she opened her eyes to find Laurent frozen like a statue. Bella could not believe what she was seeing. Slowly she lowered her arms afraid and started to stand up that the slightest movement might undo whatever froze him.

Bella was pulled out of her thoughts by loud growling, causing her to whip her head in the direction of the noise. A huge black shape of a wolf sauntered its way out of the forest line. The distraction must have caused Laurent to unfreeze because she heard a shocked "I don't believe it," from behind her. A grisly snarl ripped from its mouth before taking off after Laurent followed by two more wolves behind it.

Bella forced herself out of her shocked state turning around to bolt in the direction she came from but collided with a hard object. Bella looked up at the thing she ran into and gasped.

Alright here is the long awaited chapter 5. This one definitely took longer because I have so many ideas, but had a hard time coming up with a good way to implement them. So I did use the Laurent scene from Twilight. I tried to change it, so it would lead up to future events in the story. Let me know what you thought.

P.S.A. For anyone who has read any of my other stories, I do have a poll up on my profile for anyone who wants to vote on which story should be rewritten next. I have started on all of the and even posted the prologue for The Potter Twins in honor of Maggie Smith, so if you want to voice you opinion vote on the poll
