"I don't want to play this game anymore!" Mistykit wailed.
Stonekit didn't try to change her mind. He just crouched beside her, shivering so much that Bluefur could hear his teeth rattling. Bluefur realized how tiny they were out there beneath the trees, how thin their pelts were. They should be snuggling beside the warmth of her belly, not trekking through the forest on a journey that no warrior would try in this weather.
"Okay," she sighed. "We'll go back. But, you have to keep this game a secret or Sunstar will make you wait longer to be apprentices."
"I promise," Stonekit said immediately.
"Me, too," Mistykit joined in.
"Yeah, I want to be an apprentice too," Mosskit mewed between shivers.
"Then let's hurry back before someone sends a patrol looking for us." She urged as they turned around and headed back towards camp.
And I'll deal with Thistleclaw when I get back. She thought to herself, trying to come up with different ways to keep him from taking control of the Clan.
They made it back to the camp and into the nursery when all three kits collapsed into the nest and snuggled together for warmth. She was happy to see that they were now safe and would grow up to live in ThunderClan, unaware of their father, just like she'd originally planned.
When they became apprentices at six moons old, Lionheart was chosen to mentor Mosspaw, Windflight was chosen to mentor Stonepaw, and Mistypaw was mentored by Rosetail. Mosspaw gained an attraction to the river between RiverClan and ThunderClan and Lionheart saw this curiosity only grow. Bluefur accepted Thrushpelt as her mate and they watched as her kits got older, though she still thought of Oakheart from time to time, she learned to be content with her life in ThunderClan.
Mosspaw grew into a strong and respected warrior in the Clan under Lionheart's mentorship. But, he couldn't help but notice her growing curiosity of the river. And the Clan on the other side of it. Stonepaw, under Windflight's mentorship, becomes well-respected amongst his Clanmates, though he shows no interest in having a mate or kits, he cares for the kits of the Clan as if they're his own. Mistypaw knows her Clanmates well, but is guarded most of the time. She hopes to one day be a queen, but shows no interest in the toms of ThunderClan.
Bluefur convinces Sunstar to not pick Thistleclaw as a deputy, so he chooses Thrushpelt to be temporary deputy until Bluefur can leave her kits in the nursery and handle the Clan's responsibilities as well. Once her kits become apprentices, Sunstar appoints her deputy. She gets to watch her kits grow into strong and respected ThunderClan warriors.
