Chapter 3

The House of Dustin party immediately to Harrenhal to join the tourney. Lady Barbrey and Avelina started to talk among themselves with two of their lady friends from the House of Ryswell. They enjoy their time as they gossip about eligible bachelors being there, sometimes play cards inside the carriage, and take short naps as if it was a long journey.

Barbrey watched as her daughter laughed and giggled with her friends from her household. They are distant cousins who need to update their stations from the lower branch of the family and if by chance her daughter aims for a good status and wealth. Her daughter had already planned to marry her ladies while waiting to be high-rank and make good trading and alliances.

Seventeen-year-old, Lyarra Ryswell and her little sister, eleven-year-old, Ciara Ryswell. Both sisters came from the lower branch of the Ryswell family and their mother, Lady Jacklyn Ryswell happens to be a former lady companion to Lady Barbrey from her youth.

They came upon the show of color tents and Harrenhal castle itself.

Avelina heard and read about this castle. Harrenhal, once the greatest castle in the Seven Kingdoms, was built ~300 years ago by the House of Hoare, which ruled the Iron Islands and conquered the rest of the Riverlands. The fortress, made of black stone, took shape over three generations. It was later burned by dragonfire during Aegon's Conquest and has since become a dark and fateful place.

Avelina could imagine that this castle was once a magnificent site and could be the source of envy throughout the kingdoms.

However, that is not the problem with the castle's state. After Aegon's Conquest, it was given to House Qoherys, whose line ended tragically. The castle was burned by Dragonfire, and since then, every house or individual that has held Harrenhal has faced misfortune, leading to the belief in the curse.

Now the fellow lady and ruler of this castle is Shella Whent of the Whent family. They have ties with the House of Tully through the marriage of Minisa Whent who wedded to Hoster Tully.

They pulled to a stop in front as their knight opened their door Lady Barbrey Dustin stepped out first then Lady Avelina followed behind her daughter Lyarra and Ciara.

They enter the main room to greet the mistress and ruler of her castle. Shelia Whent had seen better days and lost most of her family more than years to combine. Now Shelia is the only Whent left to rule the cursed castle.

Barbrey walked forward as they were announced, "The Lady of Barrowton, Lady Barbrey Dustin from House of Dustin and daughter of House of Ryswell. Lord Willaim Dustin's only heir, Lady Avelina of the house of Dustin. Her companions are the Ladies Lyarra and Ciara from House of Ryswell."

"I welcome ladies from Barrowton." Lady Whent greeted them with a smile. "I see your daughter has grown beautifully. No doubt she will do you proud."

"We thank you for your kind words." Barbrey Dustin answered.

Avelina smiled as she followed her mother. She discreetly looked around the lords and their squires. She needs to find the right husband with swords, gold, and a family background.

They enter their tent with able people from Barrowton.

They unpacked their things as her companions pulled out their best ones.

"Do you think there will be a feast there?" Ciara pulled out her things as she questioned her sister.

Lyarra spoke affirm, "Of course, there will be a feast! Remember as Mother said, "Dressing our best and figure will capture men into their interest." She pulled her golden yellow dress with black patterns of their leaves and trees.

Ciara looked confused, "What?"

Avelina then gestured to Ciara to take a seat while she was doing her hair. "What they mean is that we, as women are beautiful yet untamed as wildflowers. And that will capture the men's curiosity to gain our interest in return."

Ciara nodded then still had a queer face. "I don't get it."

The girls laughed.

Barbrey entered and made the announcement.

"Girls." They straightened their backs and looked at Lady Dustin like soldiers ready to march into battle. "I have recently received word that the King is coming here. No doubt House of Starks will follow the Stags like pets to come to Harrenhal." Barbrey sneered at the thought of Starks.

"Now, remember we must show these southern that the people of the North are no fools." Barbrey looked at her daughter, Avelina.

"My dear Avelina, you are a grown woman now. It is time to put your skills to good use."

In other words, All will be lost if you fail.

Avelina nodded firmly.

She cannot fail.

Dorne, Sunspear

Silvery blonde hair and amethyst eyes looked ahead at the Prince of Dorne. Doran looked upon this weapon of his.

Aenar Dayne has been training all his life for this moment. However, his name may be to the world, but in reality, his true name is Aegon Targaryen son of Elia Martell and Crown Prince Rhaegar Targaryen.

He had escaped from the siege of Kingslanding, by Ashara Dayne claiming him as her son. However, Ashara's death became a mystery.

No one knows why, but a letter has been confirmed that someone is targeting anyone who is related to Elia Martell and Rhaegar Targaryen. Ashara sent this letter to them along with Aegon confirming that she will be dead soon.

Oberyn wanted to find that perpetrator, Doran calm his brother down.

Wait, Doran said to Oberyn. That is all Dorne must do. Wait for the moment to strike them down with a thousand acts of vengeance.

Doran believes someone is playing the game. Only this one seemed to be a monster hiding behind a friendly mask.

"It is time, Aenor." Doran gestured to Oberyn as he stepped forward. "You will go to Kingslanding and gain allies. The first step is finding a maiden with a house to hold hostage to force them to join the cause."

"Yes, uncle." Aenar bowed his head. Finally, the time has come.

To get revenge.

For his mother, Elia Martell.

For his sister, Rhaenys.

For his foster mother, Ashara Dayne.

But most of all….

"For my conquest." Aenar firmly reminded himself.

Harrenhal was the first place that caused the downfall of Elia Martell, but it will be the first place, Aegon found his queen of love and beauty.

Avelina Dustin became the queen.
