~Flashback~
My head whipped around looking for an out, my eyes landed on the doorway of an abandoned building and I slipped inside tucking myself into a corner as I checked my gun. "Shit! Three bullets in the mag and one in the chamber...Fine mess you've gotten yourself into this time." I said as I caught my breath and let my head fall quietly against the wall behind me. I sucked in a deep breath and pushed myself up and slid my gun into the holster on my hip, and pulled out the knife that was strapped to my shoulder. Cautiously I stepped to the doorway and slowly peeked out.
The infected were milling about aimlessly and there weren't too many, about 10 spread out. If I was careful, I could slip up behind them and dispose of them with my knife and be on my way. I had killed 4 of them when I heard a loud roaring coming from my right. Jerking my head that way I saw the unmistakable form of the giant B.O.W. that I'd been running from and lost, and it was charging at me. I dove out of the way and took off running hoping to lose it once again, however Neo-Umbrella had set up an ambush and the B.O.W. chased me right into. I slid to a stop as I stared at the more than 50 guns aimed at me and then looked behind me to see the B.O.W. blocking my exit. I slowly let out the breath I had been holding and gently lay my weapons on the ground raising my hands to my head I secretly pushed the comms button and HQ answered.
I heard the voice of Emily, the most annoying receptionist as she asked what I needed help with, she sounded excited. It wasn't every day that one of the two top agents in the world called for assistance and you answered. I gave a wicked glare at the men slowly making their way to me. They had learned that when I was cornered there was no telling what I would do, and boy did I have a ringer this time. "Do you see a red button beside you?"
"Um..yes I see it."
"Excellent...Push it." I said.
"What's it do?"
"Not your place to know...Now push the fucking button."
"Right...of course I'm sorry...Okay. I pushed it." She said and I disconnected from the comms.
"Boys...we all know this is not going to go the way you want it. If I was you, I would turn and go back." I said stalling for time. Less than a minute later I saw the smoke in the sky that told me time was up, the missile was here. The Neo-Umbrella soldiers, and the B.O.W. looked up at the sound of the approaching missile and I used that time to duck into an alley and jump into a dumpster before they noticed, the shadows around seemed to swirl and jump to life surrounding me as I pressed the comms button once more.
"This Shadow...signing off for the last time." I said as the missile blew and everything went black.
