It was October 10th in Konoha, a night that would soon become a mix of joy and tragedy. The village was peaceful, but within a secluded room, Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki were on the brink of a life-changing moment. Kushina was in labor, the birth of their child imminent.
"Push, Kushina! I can see the head," urged Biwiko, the wife of the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi.
"Minato, I'll kill you for the pain you're causing me right now!" Kushina cried out through gritted teeth.
Minato, focused on ensuring that the seal on Kushina wouldn't break, looked at her with concern. "Kushina, are you okay?" he asked, anxiety evident in his voice.
"Calm down, Minato. You're the Fourth Hokage. Make sure the seal doesn't break," Biwiko instructed. "Kushina, push!"
With a final, powerful push, the room was filled with the first cries of their newborn baby. After a few moments, Biwiko declared, "It's a boy." She cut the umbilical cord and wrapped the baby in a soft blanket.
"Can I hold him?" Minato asked eagerly.
"Mother's first. You'll hold him in a minute," Biwiko replied. She handed the baby boy to Kushina. Tears of joy welled up in Kushina's eyes as she cradled her son. Minato stood beside her, his eyes glued to the tiny bundle of joy.
"What should we name him? I was thinking maybe Menma," Minato suggested.
"We'll name him Naruto," Kushina decided firmly.
"Naruto? You're naming our son after a ramen topping?" Minato questioned, half-jokingly.
"It means 'maelstrom'," Kushina explained.
"Then Naruto it is. Hi, Naruto, I'm your dad, and this is your mom, Kushina," Minato said softly. He reached out for the baby, but just as Kushina was about to hand Naruto to him, a masked man appeared out of nowhere.
In a swift, brutal move, the masked man snatched Naruto from Kushina's arms and slashed Biwiko's throat, killing her instantly. Minato, caught off guard, struggled to react in time. The masked man held a kunai inches from Naruto's neck.
"Hand over the jinchuriki, Fourth Hokage, or I will kill your son," the masked man threatened.
Desperation filled Minato's mind as he tried to figure out how to save his family. He wondered how this intruder had bypassed all the ANBU guards. "Naruto!" Kushina screamed, her voice filled with terror.
Suddenly, the masked man threw Naruto into the air. Minato caught his son just in time, noticing that explosive tags had been placed on Naruto's blanket. Acting quickly, he discarded the blanket, saving Naruto from the explosion. Minato teleported to his house, placing Naruto safely on the bed before grabbing his kunai and preparing to return to the battlefield.
"I'll be back soon with your mother. Don't worry, everything is okay," Minato promised Naruto before teleporting to a nearby treetop close to Kushina's location.
Meanwhile, the masked man had chained Kushina to two rocks and was breaking the seal that contained the Kyubi. He placed the Kyubi under a genjutsu to control it. "What better way for you to die than by the very creature you were meant to contain?" the masked man taunted. He then forced the Kyubi to attack Kushina.
Just as the Kyubi's massive hand was about to crush Kushina, Minato arrived, teleporting her to safety and then back home. He laid her down next to Naruto, who was safe and unharmed.
Outside, the village was in chaos. The Kyubi rampaged through Konoha, destroying one-third of the village and causing massive casualties. Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage, tried to fend off the beast with the help of countless shinobi, but their efforts seemed to only enrage the Kyubi further.
"Where is the Fourth Hokage?" one of the ANBU asked.
"I don't know, but we have to hold the Kyubi back until he gets here," Hiruzen replied, trying to remain calm amidst the destruction.
Minato stood atop the Hokage Monument, surveying the devastation. When the Kyubi noticed him, it charged a Bijuudama, preparing to fire at the monument. Minato quickly formed hand signs, teleporting the attack away just in time. However, the masked man struck from behind, catching Minato's wrist and preventing him from counterattacking.
"I'm your enemy," the masked man declared as he began swirling Minato into his eye.
Minato managed to teleport himself to a nearby clearing just before being trapped. The masked man followed, and Minato struggled to identify his foe. There's only been one other shinobi who could control the Kyubi, but he's dead... Who is this? Minato thought.
"Why have you attacked the village?" Minato demanded.
"I have my own reasons, but I won't be telling you," the masked man replied cryptically.
The masked man equip a chain tht connected to his wrists, then they charged at each other but Minato phases past him, narrowly avoiding capture. He can materialize himself, so direct attacks won't work. I need to strike when he's about to touch me, Minato reasoned.
The two charged at each other again. Minato threw a kunai, but it phased through the masked man. The man was about to touch Minato when Minato teleported to the kunai above him, creating a swirling blue ball of chakra. He struck the masked man with the Rasengan, causing a massive explosion that created a dust cloud.
When the dust cleared, the masked man was severely injured. Before he could escape, Minato teleported to him, stabbed him, and placed a contract seal to break his control over the Kyubi. The masked man disappeared with a swirl, vowing to return and reclaim the Kyubi.
Minato quickly teleported back to the village, summoning Gamabunta, the giant toad, to help. "Hold down the Kyubi, Gamabunta," Minato instructed. He then returned home, grabbing Kushina and Naruto before teleporting back to the battlefield.
"Minato, what are you doing?" Kushina asked.
"I'm going to seal the Kyubi into Naruto. It's the only way," Minato explained.
"No, I'm not going to subject our son to being hated by the village for what he contains. Seal it into me, and I'll die with it!" Kushina protested angrily.
"No, that won't work. The beast will just reform. A biju cannot truly die. Sealing it into Naruto is the only way," Minato insisted. "Please, we don't have much time."
Gamabunta roared in frustration "hurry up i wont be able to hold it down". "At least let me help with the little chakra I have left." Kushina summoned her adamantine chains to restrain the Kyubi, while Gamabunta prepared to return to his summoning world.
Minato performed the Reaper Death Seal, summoning the Shinigami and sealing half of the Kyubi's chakra into himself. Using the Eight Trigrams Seal, he sealed the remaining half into Naruto. The Kyubi, realizing what was happening, tried to attack Naruto, but Minato and Kushina leaped in front of him, sacrificing themselves to protect their son.
With their last breaths, Kushina and Minato imparted their final words to Naruto. "Naruto, don't be picky. Eat lots and grow strong. Make sure you bathe every day and stay warm. Don't stay up late. You need lots of sleep and make friends. You don't need a lot of friends, just a few ones you can really trust. I wasn't very good at it, but keep up with your studies and practice your ninjutsu hard. Remember that everyone has strengths and weaknesses, so don't get too depressed if you can't do something well. Respect your teachers and upperclassmen at the Academy. Oh, and this is important... It's about the Three Prohibitions for a shinobi. Be extra careful about lending and borrowing money. Put your mission wages into your savings account. No alcohol until you're twenty. Too much can ruin your health, so drink in moderation. Another Prohibition is women. I'm a woman, so I don't know too much about this, but all you need to remember is that this world is made up of men and women. So it's only natural to take an interest in girls. But just don't get hooked on bad women. Find someone just like me. Speaking of the Three Prohibitions, be wary of Jiraiya-sensei. You know, Naruto, from now on, you're going to face lots of pain and hardship. Be true to yourself. Have a dream and the confidence to make that dream come true. There's so much, oh so much more that I want to pass on to you. I wish I could stay with you longer. I love you. I'm sorry, Minato, for taking up your time," Kushina said tearfully.
"Listen, Naruto, to what your mother says," Minato added with his final words before he passed away.
When Hiruzen arrived, he found Kushina clinging to life, holding Naruto close. "Kushina, what happened here?" Hiruzen asked.
"Hiruzen, listen. The Kyubi is sealed inside Naruto. Please, make sure they treat him like a hero. That is our last wish.
