Chapter 42 Trollan Cradle
Things were going smoothly right now on Eternia. Orko was still getting the hang of being named Azron's successor. Azron was helping him learn some of what he needs to know. As were the other ringbearers. But they told him most of it he has to figure out for himself. Orko was going to do his best.
Orko and Dree Elle had also gotten married a short time ago. Everyone was happy for them.
Today both him and Dree Elle had a surprise for everyone. They were all sitting together at lunch. "Okay that's when my machine blew up and my hair looked like porcupine and ice everywhere," Damien said. "So much for my chill cooler that would help picnic items cool longer for very long trips so you won't need so many ice packs or keep replacing the ice," he said.
"Don't worry Damien you can try again," Andra said.
"It's okay Damien I have had my own share of failures that happen several times for one invention," Man at arms said. "Just keep trying and you will get it," he said.
"I know so it is back to the drawing board," Damien said.
Orko and Dree Elle were eager to tell everyone their big news. "Dree Elle and I have something to tell you all of you," Orko said.
"Oh? What is it?" Teela asked.
"Are you two headed to Trolla for a while?" Andra asked.
"No," Orko said.
"Are you two headed to Etheryia for a while to help the great rebellion?" Roboto asked.
"No," Dree Elle said.
"Are you two going to go out somewhere to have few days to yourselves?" Man at arms asked.
"No," Orko said.
"Are any members of your family coming to visit?" Damien asked.
"No," Dree Elle said.
"Then what is it?" Hannah asked.
"Yes what is it?" Yuka said. "Tell us!" he said.
"We're going to have a baby," Dree Elle said.
"A baby?" Adam asked.
"Dree Elle you're pregnant?" Queen Marlena asked.
"Yes," Dree Elle said.
"This is so exciting," Teela said.
"Congratulations Orko and Dree Elle," King Randor said.
"Yes Congratulations little friend," Man at arms said. "I can see it now a miniature Orko in the palace, now I will end up getting more egg on me," he said.
"I am more careful than before," Orko said. "I have gotten better at controlling my magic here," he said.
"I know you have but there are still those slip ups," Man at arms said.
"I know," Orko said.
"So how long until the baby gets here?" Hannah asked.
"Trollans are pregnant for six months, and I am only about a month along," Dree Elle said. "So we have five months to get ready," she said.
"That's really good news," Damien said.
"We are so happy for you both," Andra said.
"I am going to be uncle?" Yuka asked looking at his sister and Orko.
"You sure are Yuka," Dree Elle said.
"But I haven't even turned 13 yet," Yuka said.
"True but sometimes that is how it works out," Orko said.
"Well it is exciting and I hope I am going to a good uncle," Yuka said.
"You will," Dree Elle said. "We still have to tell the rest of the family," she told Orko.
They called their families after lunch. Boy were all of them excited about this, a new baby in the family. "I going to be grandpa!" Unzo said getting all excited.
"I am going to be grandma," Ilyne said.
"I am going to be great uncle," Montork said.
"I am going to be great aunt," Esso said.
"I am going to have new cousin." Snoob said.
Dree Elle's parents were pretty excited too. "I am going to be a grandpa," Seagg said.
"I am going to be a grandma," Kyren said.
The other former defenders got the news to that Orko was going to become a father. "Hard believe Orko is going to be a father," Devero said.
"It seems just like yesterday he was just born," Malek said.
"Yes and now he's all grown up, married and going to have his first child with his wife," Zelmra said. "Things like that sure do happen in the blink of an eye," he said.
"Yes it does," Xana said. "It is a happy thing that has happened." she said.
Adam called his sister and the rebellion and told them the news.
"Orko is going to be a father how exciting," Perfuma said.
"Yes it is very nice news," Flutterina said.
"Yes a little baby Trollan," Madame Razz said. "I bet Orko is looking forward to teaching the baby magic tricks once it gets a little older," she said. "Maybe I can help teach some magic too if he ever brings the little one over," she said.
"It would be nice to meet Orko's child sometime after it is born," Adora said. "But Adam said the birth is five months away so we need to be patient to see if the baby is going to be brought here sometime after it is born," she said.
"Well it is still exciting to say the least," Bow said. "I am happy for them," he said.
"I am glad they are having a baby, but I fear if that unnamed order, Orko told us about finds out about this they might try to harm the baby," Kowl said.
"I am sure Orko has already thought of that," Peek a blue said.
Back on Eternia many of the other masters and heroic warriors heard the news. "Congratulations Orko," Mekkaneck said. "I remember how happy I was when my son was born," he said.
"Thanks," Orko said.
"I heard the big news Orko, I am happy for you," Ram man said.
"Thank you Ram man," Orko said.
"I heard the news from Adam Orko, Congrats," Man E Faces said.
"Thank you," Orko said.
Orko and Dree Elle got many congratulations and other nice words from the heroic warriors and people of Eternos. Even the sorceress congratulated them.
Man at arms was drawing something up and he was going to put it together. But he felt he was going to need some help. He saw Orko and knew he was the one to ask.
"Orko mind helping me with something?" Man at arms asked.
"Sure," Orko said. "Does an invention need testing?" he asked.
"No I want your advice and help with something," Man at arms asked.
"My advice?" Orko asked surprised.
"Here let me show you what I have been drawing up," Man at arms said. Orko came over and took a look. It was plans for a baby cradle. "After you and Dree Elle announced the pregnancy I thought I would make plans to make your baby a cradle," he said. "But I want to get the size and dimensions just right so the baby can sleep in it safely and have room to grow as I plan out the crib too, and I also need the size and dimensions right for that too," he said. "You know more about the size of babies of your kind," he said. "I only know how big human babies are usually," he said. "I don't want to make it too big or too small," he said. "That is what I am worried about," he said.
"Well Trollan babies are smaller than human babies." Orko said. "It is because we are smaller than humans," he said. "A baby Trollan weighs anywhere from 1.5 to 2 pounds when it is born," he said. "Also a baby Trollan is anywhere from 8 to 10 inches long when born." he said. "So in other words not very big by humans standards, but by Trollan standards it is good size," he said. "But we are smaller than humans so are babies are naturally smaller than yours," he said.
"Well that does make sense," Man at arms said. "Now I can more easily get the size and dimensions right for the cradle and crib," he said. "Then I can put them both together," he said.
"I am surprised you are making a cradle and a crib for Dree Elle and I's baby," Orko said.
"Well little friend, you are a big part of the palace and you help out in many ways and come through in many ways," Man at arms said. "To everyone in the palace you are practically family," he said. "So I thought I would put this together for you," he said.
"Thank you I really appreciate it," Orko said.
A bit later, King Randor and Queen Marlena had a room next to Orko and Dree Elle's room cleared out. "This room you can use for your baby's nursery," Queen Marlena said. "It will be the little one's room," she said.
"Thank you so much," Dree Elle said.
"Yes thank you," Orko said.
Even though the birth was going to be months away things were going to get even more exciting at the palace.
"Hi in today's story you read about a couple of things that were great," Teela said. "First it is how Orko and Dree Elle told everyone they were going to have a baby and how everyone was happy for them." she said. "Another thing is when my father wasn't to sure about something, for something he was going to do he asked someone who did know and might be able to help," she said. "Sometimes we all tried to do something or want to find out about something we don't know about, so it helps to talk to someone who might know," she said. "Once you talk about it you will get the information you need and it will make things easier." she said. "Until next time," she said.
