(Chapter 1: Psychic Beginnings)
What it in the far-flung future of the 41st Millenium that there could be one small change that could grant hope in this bleak age in the Time of Ending, what it that change came in the form of a young man awakening a strength that has yet since been seen during the era of the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy. A strength where the Ruinous Powers feared the Anathema, where the Corpse Emperor stood proud in golden splendor, and fought alongside his 18 sons in glorious conquest…what if that young man soon came into a strength such as this and so much more?
This is that tale, as the hidden strength within this young man, may just spark a new hope for the Imperium in the fight against the Ruinous Powers and all of her enemies.
(M41. 997, November 27th, Musutafu, Japan, Zenthon, 11:14 Pm)
It would be the midst of November as Izuku stood atop the rooftop of one of the tallest buildings in Musutafu, the dejected young man who had been constantly bullied, harassed and belittled by Kaachan and his peers and now his idol after risking his life to safe his friend telling him would never be able make it as a hero…Had at this point decided to do something that would just stop his life from being one failure after the other in his dream to be a great hero, like All-Might, which was to take Bakugou's advice of doing the only thing that someone without a Quirk could when compared to him.
"I'm sorry that I couldn't be born with a good quirk, or even a horrible one that I could work really hard to make something great. I'm sorry that I can't even be strong enough, or fast enough or anything else to be a good hero, and most of all I am just sorry that you birthed mistake that even All-Might thinks isn't worth his time." Izuku lamented as he looked on his phone at a picture of himself and his mom celebrating his graduating from middle school
"Maybe…Maybe in another life I could have been more with a really great quirk like Kaachan. Then you wouldn't have to above and beyond for me, when I can't even measure up to people whose quirks give them cactus-hands, have X-ray vision, or shoot peanut-butter out of their hands. I guess that Kaachan really is right that the best and most heroic thing I can do is to take a leap, so no one has to hear me ramble about how some day I'll be the number 1 hero." Izuku further spoke as his bloodshot and puffy-red eyes could no longer shed tears after having cried for so many hours over his decision
"But at least, I can do one thing right and make sure that my mother doesn't have to continue to raise a disappoint any longer…It is the most heroic thing I can do for her, after having failed so abysmally at life." Izuku said as he stood to his feet his emerald eyes drained of their usual boundless optimism and only empty at having his dreams repeatedly dashed and now finally crushed by reality in part to his idol
And so without a moments hesitation as he looked into the black abyss below of the chilling November night, Izuku Midoriya left off the stories-high building without warning; having put cinderblocks in his winter-coat in order to make sure that his descent would be a quick and immeasurably swift one. The descent from having been 100s' of feet in the air was a quick, bloody, but magnanimous affair, as the moment Izuku's body hit the ground with a morbid and horrific thud; that shattered his skull, crushed his ribs, shoulders, and neck, and broke his pelvis did he lay on the ground.
His body unmoving as blood began to leak from his body from his ribs, and shards of cinderblock and metal having crushed and ripped into his internal organs; from having done the worlds' gnarliest belly-flop into a solid metal dumpster, as it slid off unceremoniously onto the now bloodied ground. The young mans' eyes wide open and blood shot as viscera and crimson leaked out of his eyes, ears, nose and mouth, as his body lay lifeless and unmoving as a statue, with not a sound to be made or a person to witness his suicide.
However, as his body lay broken with the majority of his bones shattered, broken and crushed, his lungs after hours of his breathing stilled and filled with his own crimson, his neck shattered to the point that his skull had turned at an sickening 140 degrees after bouncing off the brick walls in his rapid descent, and his limbs twisted at degrees no corpse should ever make. That something began to shift and change as in the passing of the hours that would begin to give way to a still star-covered morning did his body begin to spasm, warp and shake as though life and power were being forced into, his corpse beginning to arc out in bolts of Warp energy.
Be it small at first, as the bolts of psychic might began to raise and form out of him like kindling flames from a fire, that within moments immediately after did they begin to grow an intensify, to the point that what was once mere sparks began bolts of Warp energy that began to arc and tear out of Izuku's corpse with a vengeance. The wind soon beginning to howl as the bolts of Warp energy began to further erupt out of him to the point that it looked more like a storm of psionic lightning had soon erupted, shredding the ground and scorching anything in sight, as a vibrant almost painfully deep emerald light began to emit from the young mans' spasming and seizing corpse.
His eyes pits of psionic energy as lightning, fire, psionic might, and gravity itself swirled and warped around him, as the Warp itself seemed to heave and focus itself into Izuku's form, as shattered skull, grey matter, bones, torn flesh, punctured organs, mangled nerves and muscle began to SNAP and RIP and STITCH themselves back together. Almost as though the Immaterium itself were some macabre with doctor using Izuku's body that distorted, stretched, heaved, warbled and seized in ways that would look cartoonish if not for him erupting into so much psychic power that Musutafu began to shake as though a massive earthquake were ripped into it.
The force of the tremors caused as fire and lightning that spewed from his body reconnecting itself was such that nearby buildings were not only scorched, but seemed to melt as well as whirlwinds of psychic fire scorched and immolated anything in its warpath, the skies erupting into storms of neon-green lightning that began to belch forth ran and hail the size of a grown-mans' fist. The deafening thunder and lightning being such that buildings, cars, and other structures alike heaved shook to the point of cracking apart, as the world itself continued to stretch and warble from the immense psychic output.
Gravity itself intensifying to the point that cars, villains, and others in random areas across the city wre outright flattened, slammed so hard their bones broke on impact or found themselves suspended in the air dozens if not hundreds of feet, helpless as the skies groaned and almost shrieked as though straining agains the weight of things that should not exist….Space itself stretching and almost malforming to the point that if one were to look closely, as concrete, brick, and mortar warped between solid, and liquid that many eyes were staring before being slammed and crushed out of existence at the sight of Izuku's terrifying resurrection.
Wherein the young mans' body that was within the cocoon of blasphemous psychic might and warp Energy continued to warble, distort and stretch and compress like molten clay, as every ligament, muscle, nerve and tear in his body was stitched together, as the world witnessed within the span of 8 minutes his revival. As it would be once the 9th minute of revival came to a close as his body would finishing its resurrection that his consciousness would be forced back into his body, with the force of a dozen Volcanno Cannons at point-blank; before faster than he form a singular thought was his body sent who-knows where across Japan.
All the while, Northern, half of Western and Southern Musutafu would look as though a cataclysm that would look ripped out of a science fiction or cosmic horror story due to how warped, melted, scorched, or even frostbitten and near-cartoonishly stretched out or destroyed everything was. And while the structures themselves were destroyed, oddly enough those within would survive injured yes, but far from at deaths' door at what had been witnessed.
And yet as the sun would rise in the hours to follow, numerous entities across the Warp and beyond from Vashtorr in his forges, to Magnus the Red and his Legion that continued to study blasphemous arcane lore, to Fulgrim who even amidst the countless debaucheries of Slaanesh's realm who took notice at the violent distortions of the Warp as roaring cries of genuine pain echoed through Slaanesh's halls. To the many Librarians of the the Adeptus Astartes who found themselves sweating profusely, knocked unconscious outright, or their Astropaths having spontaneously combust and burst like overfilled water-balloons.
That one thing could be clear as even Aeldari; Craftworld, Drukhari or otherwise felt a disturbance within the Immaterium so violent and echoed with such a ferocious presence that it brought even there greatest farseers to their knees; that one thing was for certain…That as of now something new in the Immaterium had been born, a psychic presence having unknowingly broadcasted itself to all, yet hidden from those who wished to view in full, that as of this moment a 2nd Anathema had been born with strength unchecked and unbound.
"I-I'm alive, but I-I should have…how am I?" Izuku wondered as he tried to stand up on les that felt as though they were of the consistency of slush
"Wait, why am I still alive, I should have died, I made sure that the height of the building, and the mass of all objects I had gathered; that I would make my death…the one thing that would be able to not have my mother live with me as a failure, and my…my inability to be born good enogh to be a hero. Why couldn't I do this right, why couldn't I be a hero and save myself from my own weakness!' Izuku further lamented in a mix of anger, loathing, and self-disgust as he used what strength he could to smash his hands into the ground
Only to in his surprise a wave of pure force, and Warp lightning the color of emeralds launched from his hands and in doing so as he took sight of the junkyard he had mysteriously found himself in, had flash incinerated a pile of junk the size of a small apartment complex with such force; that he was flung bag a full 20 feet from the sheer force of his own power. However, even as he landed groaning, his ever nerve feeling as though white-hot barbed wire that had been covered in salt, to stitch together his every broken bone, torn muscle, lightament and mangled nerve in his body; that he could only lay in stunned silence.
His face a myriad of emotions that ran through his very being as he saw his hands that arced with pure psychic energy, albeit now covered in a metallic greenish black that ran from the tips of his fingers to the edges of his triceps; was a mixture of rage, hate, self-loathing, but also calculative thought, joy, excitement, and curiosity. As he looked in disbelief, bewilderment, and so much more that made his brain race with white hot mind-fire that somehow, by means he could not understand; that he had through his own self-inflicted death awakened a Quirk all on his own, a strange one yes, but one that had an unmitigated amount of potential.
(8 hours later, 3:32 Pm, Esuha City, Japan, M41. 997, November 28th)
It would be hours later into the afternoon of the new day as a still disoriented, confused, but very much excited Izuku was walking with a staggered step in his feet, as Izuku was now figuring out how to get back home given that his death and subsequent ressurection had left in 2 cities away from Musutafu.
'The great news is that I finally have a Quirk, and mom won't have to think that I'm a Quirkless loser who disappoints her everytime she looks at me. I can also get into U.A, become a Hero, and showing All-Might and Kaachan that I'm worthy to be a hero….And it's all thanks to Kaachan, telling me to that leap!' Were Izuku's frenzied thoughts of the green-haired Psyker
"Now all I have to do is find out even more of what my new Quirk is capable of." Izuku spoke as he saw an ongoing robbery in progress
"And I now have the opportunity to do that." Izuku said to himself as he saw a costumed Hero fly out of the window unconscious as 5 robbers carrying bags of money quickly ran out
All the while said bank-robbers after having made a clean getaway after defeating the 2 heroes sent to stop them, were just a few blocks away from there getaway van, with literal millions in cash the quintet were almost grinning ear-to-ear at their haul. At least until they were bore witness to a blood splattered young man in a red and silver winter-coat and jeans, with messy green hair, wild and unnervingly wide and ecstatic bloodshot green eyes, and a curious look upon himself as he Spartan kicked his victim so hard he as sent through a wall with bone-cracking force.
Meanwhile, Izuku turned towards his newfound opposition with a look upon himself that was a mix of excitement, and ever-calculating thought as he stared down at the surprised quartet unblinkingly, his eyes rapidly moving in analyizing there every movement with rapid calculations akin to a super-computer; before making his next move. Wherein Izuku raised his hand that had cracked with raw psychic energy before swinging it outwards as a dense lash of concussive force lanced out with the speed akin to the crack of a bullwhip, that carried enough psychic might to briefly distort the space around it.
Wherein those in exception with a bank-robber who tried to defend against it by erecting a wall of earth and stone; were quick to dive out of the way of the strange attack, but instead of the stone wall holding true as it had against bullet-fire, flames and more…it was quickly sliced through. Not only did it continue to slice through the barrier and the subsequent one s he backed away to try and escape, but his right arm had been shorn away at the elbow; leaving a bubbling stump; before Izuku on instinct wrenched the lash back with what he assumed was minimal force.
Only for the moment that it seemingly went through his head that the man went stock still one it continued its path exiting his skull, and subsequently slumped to the ground as unintentionally did Izuku quite literally melt his mind to the point he was left a twitching, slobbering mess; his voice heavily slurred and gargled while his body continued to seize as though hit by a high-powered taser. Those that watched the act of their comrade having fallen in such a bizarre manner put them on both the defensive and outright shook in horror, as Izuku showed no reaction except further curiosity and thought over the expression of his powers.
The seeming indifference to their comrade dying and instead being looked at with the impunity one would look at a test dummy, caused one of them whose Quirk caused them become that of a literal black-furred Minotaur with a heavy-set build; saw red and charged full tilt at Izuku intent on goring him with his nearly 2-foot-long horns. But to Izuku's purview in seeing the nearly 7 foot tall furred behemoth charge towards him, he jumped out of the way with uncanny strength and force enough to distort the ground beneath him, as he subsequently landed back to the ground, but not before focusing on his arms to harden them against his enemy.
Wherein by the time he had crashed back down his to rabbit punching his opposition in the back of the head, his hands had taken on a more armored appearance; looking not only more metallic, but also growing chain-mail like masses of armored skin over-top of his arms as blunted 4-inch spikes formed from his knuckles. As such after raising a shield of pure force to block a chunk of hail the size of his chest from crashing into him, did he engage the minotaur-like robber in close-quarters, where despite Izuku being at disadvantage due to his smaller size; that the power he called upon from the raw Warp itself was enough to negate this.
Given that as he ducked under a massive right hook, did he swing his fist out at the behemoths' stomach hoping for the best in not knowing if his new 'Quirk' would translate into physical prowess, but much to his surprise and that of his opposition and on-lookers gathered did he not only stop the minotaur in question with te brutal gut-punch. So much was it in its strength that he caused him to fold in half, as he felt as though his organs had become flush with his spine, all as he was lifted 10 feet off the ground, but Izuku continued this with a series of punches that sounded like shotgun-blasts from the sheer concussive power of each strike landed.
With the last strike being a fierce overhand to his upper abdomen that sent him crashing into the ground with such force that he quite literally bounced off the concrete, landing in a crumpled heap as the minotaur-like robber felt his inside become almost pulp from the blows that left him shaking and seizing. All the while Izuku landed onto the ground or rather floated like a feather in the wind down to meet the stunned remaining robbers, who looked at the teenager who in barely a minute had dismantled the majority of there group with little if any difficulty.
"First of all, I would like to thank you and your friends for allowing me to test out my powers. I just received them this morning, and as you can see I am still working out what I can do with them…Also, I do apologize for what I did to your friend I put through a wall earlier, and your other friend whose brain I have accidentally melted." Izuku said in an unnervingly polite and apologetic voice that was made worse by each footstep he took creaking and groaning under the weight of his psychic might
"That being said, I would very much appreciate it if you two would surrender and…" Izuku said as the two through their bags full of money to the ground and put their hands above their head in defeat
"No you got it, man. We give up, we are not going to fight you at all." Was the response of an auburn-haired robber who had earlier shot him with hail
"Really?...I was expecting more, as this is my very 1st day using my powers. If you want I could hold back even further?" Izuku questioned in being surprised at how easy this was
"You literally took us down in a minute flat…we may be criminials but we are not stupid. Take whatever money is in there, and we will turn ourselves in. I am not trying to die today, after what you did to Shinji, Megumi, Lyoto." The auburn-haired individual spoke as he threw his backpack full of money to Izuku who caught it with ease
"Thank you, and if that is the case. I will leave you two to the authorities, I do need to buy new clothes and call my mother…So have a nice day and again, I am so sorry for what happened." Izuku said before focusing his newfound Psychic powers to run away in an inpercievable blur of motion
'Of all the things that happened today, getting our asses handed to us by a kid wasn't one of them. But fuck me, if I'm getting obliterated like that.' Were the criminals thoughts as heroes assisted by the police arrived to arrest him and his defeated allies
"...I wonder what other powers I can discover within myself. This is going to be a very eventful week." Were Izuku's thoughts as he raced through the city at subsonic speeds
(5 days later, December 3rd, M41. 997. M41, Esuha City, Japan, 2:10 Pm)
That said in the following set of days after Izuku's otherworldly revival, was he at a payphone calling his mother to tell her the good news of what had happened after he stopped his string of defeating villains and criminals to call her and let her know how he was doing.
"Hi Mom, I have really great news to tell you!" Came Izuku's excited voice
"I-Izuku is that you?" Came the worried voice of his mother
"Yes, and I'm doing wonderful, I have a Quirk, and its really strong, and I've defeated a lot of criminals and a few minor villains too. I can't wait to tell you once I finish coming home." Izuku told his mother semi-unbothered by the worry
"By the way is everything ok back home? After my Quirk activated; I woke up in Esuha City, and so far I'm doing great. I have some money to take care of myself and…" Izuku began to say
All before Inko launched into a worried filled rant of him just disappearing in the middle of the night for days on end, his being in the middle of a city out of nowhere, her being worried sick after not having seen him for nearly a week straight. With Izuku feeling guilt and his heart breaking throughout her sobs, the immense worry in her voice, and the sadness of something having happened to him, with the young yet powerful Psyker deciding it was best to omit the part of his awakening his 'Quirk' through suicide…at least until he had a bit more time to understand it.
However, it was also followed by relief, joy, and happiness for her son, relief that he was alive and doing well despite being 2 cities away, joy for her son having a Quirk and what was described as a very potent one at that, and happiness that he was alive and not hurt or worse yet killed by one of the villains that ran rampant throughout.
"Look at it this way, Mom. Now I can finally go to U.A and be a hero like I always wanted. Isn't that great, I actually have a chance like everyone else!" Izuku spoke in elation of having a chance to attend one of the most prestigious Hero universities in the country
"That's all wonderful news, sweetheart, but are you sure your going to be ok out there?...I know that you have your new Quirk, and I am happy for you. But once you get home, I would like to have you properly tested to see what your Quirk can do." Inko replied but with underlying concern for what exactly else there was with her sons' new powers
"That actually is a great idea, it would save me so much time on figuring out what more my Quirk can do." Izuku said on-board for doing so
'Not to mention, it would help with seeing how much I have to train in utilizing it properly…I have amassed a surprisingly high body count, due to not knowing the full mechanics of my powers.' Were Izuku's more private thoughts due to the fact that he had underestimated the lethality of his powers
"I will get started on making an appointment with our doctor in a few weeks…I-I am just glad to hear from you again, Izuku. I was so worried that something had happened to you, especially after what happened while you were away." Inko said much to Izuku's confusion
"What happened, are you ok?!" Izuku asked as in his worry sparks of Warp energy began to crack at the possibility of something wrong happening to his mother
"I'm fine, Izuku. Its just that we had a really bad storm that affected a large portion of the area. Luckily our home wasn't hit, but there was a lot of people that were injured and are being treated for injuries and damages…It was a good thing that you were away when it happened otherwise, you could have gotten seriously injured." Inko answered back glad that her son wasn't caught in the strange storm that had rocked Musutafu
"Yeah…I'm glad nothing happened to me either when that storm hit." Izuku said with a small sniffle
"Is everything ok?" Inko asked her only son
"I'm ok, just wondering what my superhero costume and my hero name is going to be…Now that I have an awesome Quirk, I have to get started on thinking about what I'm going to do when I get to U.A next year." Izuku told his mother in quickly shifting subjects
"Whatever you want, sweetheart. I will do what I can to help have your hero costume made, but it will take some time to have it done…The hospitals have been rather busy since the storm, and as one of the best surgeons in the city, my work is never done." Inko spoke as she was due to go back on shift in roughly 40 minutes
"How has that gone…I'm going to guess that its been pretty hectic?" Izuku asked knowing his mothers' job as a trauma surgeon was never easy
"As well as you would think, on the plus side I'm going to have a lot of overtime pay. So that's going to be nice, for Christmas. But hopefully things will calm down soon, at this point with so many back-to-back operations I've been a part of, that perhaps a vacation would be a good idea…There is only so many surgeries I can handle, and I am already at my limit." Inko answered back having been utterly spent by her exhaustive work schedule
"Is there anything that I can do to help out?" Izuku questioned once more
"Just check in with me when you have a chance…I worry about you, and how things are at Aldera." Inko told her son
"...I know that things have been rough for you, but I still want you to know that if anything happens to you. That if you ever get hurt, that I am always here to talk to you. You know that, right?...There is nothing that happens to you, or that is done to you that you cannot tell me. I am your mother and I will always love you no matter what." Inko further spoke while she continued to get ready for her night shift
"I know mom, and don't worry I know that I can tell you anything. You have always been there for me no matter what happens. So if anything happens, I will be sure to tell you as soon as possible." Izuku told his mother who despite her tears and worry smiled in relief
"That is so good to hear…Are you sure that you will be ok; in Esuha? I can take a few days off to come and get you." Inko asked of her son
"No, I should be fine to be honest. In fact, I'm pretty sure that with the strength of my Quirk, I should be able to make it home relatively safely. So no need to worry about me getting back home in one piece." Izuku said back to his mother
"Alright…I will trust you to come home. But the moment you get there, you call me, young man. I have been worried sick, and I want to see my sweet boy the first chance I get!" Inko said to her powerful Psyker of a son who smiled amidst the December chill
"Don't worry, I will call you the first chance that I get…Anywho, I'm going to hang up, I don't want you to be late for work." Izuku replied
"Ok, take care and remember…no matter where you go, or what happens. I will always love you, Izuku…my little hero." Inko said to her son whose smile widened further
"I love you too, mom." Izuku said back as he hung up the pay-phone
However, as he was about to go on his way to find somewhere to sleep for the night, he soon found himself assailed by a vision that flashed through his mind with an uncanny amount of clarity and accuracy as it played before him like a high-definition movie. He saw himself in a city of ruined majesty; fighting strange 7 to almost 9 foot tall men in futuristic armor, himself in a green and silver Hero costume splitting clones of himself to fight and help aid civilians and the injured to safety.
All the while, he himself was fighting alongside a titan of a man with blonde hair, brilliant blue armor with a scowl on his face, and a large two-handed broadsword that burned with cosmic flames in his hands; that held a studious yet determined energy about himself. On the other side of him was a man with golden-hair streaked in silver, his armor golden although worn was streaked with blood-red with multiple-eye like gems across its surface with angelic wings of metallic reddish gold fluttering vengefully behind him, as he wielded an elaborate spear and arming sword in either hand.
With their opposition being something that confused and even terrified Izuku, which was a towering one-eyed demon of a man with crimson-colored skin, wings of kalidescopic colors that almost hurt to look at it, as he wore Egyptian-style armor that once commanded great majestic; but now had been twisted by runious arcane powers. Where in one hand one a massive spear with a Khopesh-like blade that vibrated with immense eldritch powers beyond comprehension, and in his free-hand were quickly weaving spells that made reality around in heave and weep from the strength of what he commanded.
All the while Izuku who bore witness to this sight and battle as he and the two giants, that he soon enlarged himself to stand in similar height too in crackling arcs of psychic power; promptly raced forwards to combat the cyclopean giant in epic fashion. With the young Psyker viewing the images of epic battle that waged onwards in the great 3V1 before as fast as the vision came, he was shunted from it in confusion of what he had just witnessed.; but knew that whatever this vision was that it was of massive importance as he headed off to find a motel to stay at for the night.
'D-Did I just see the future?' Izuku wondered as he headed off in the chilling afternoon
(2 weeks later, December 21st, M41. 997 Baal, Arx Angelicum ,4:48 Pm)
Meanwhile, on the home-planet of the Blood Angels Legion, Lord Commander Dante had been summoned by one of the Apothecary and by his Chief Librarian who told him to make haste for the news that they had witnessed since the powerful yet violent distortion in the Warp weeks ago.
"In my many decades as the Chapter Master of the 9th Legion, this borders on the most outlandish report I have had brought to my attention." Were the dreary and irritated words of Dante
"With all due respect, Dante. Myself and Corbulo can both coorboarte on the fact The Great Angel has begun to resurrect himself after 10,000 years of being long since dead." Mephiston told his Chapter Master in part to the startling news
"The distortion in the Warp were such that they have apparently allowed the Emperor's light to shine on our Chapter. In doing so it has begun to bring Lord Sanguinius back to life, albeit slowly." Mephiston spoke in having felt the massive ripples in the Immaterium to the point that it would borderline on overwhelming even him
"If this is true, then I want an explanation on how this happened and his status if this is to be true…If this is some macabre prank you two are planning, then I will have both punished for such heresy." Dante spoke as he turned to Corbulo expectant on a damned good explanation
"...Very well. After the distortions in the Warp had begun to subside. One of the Sanguinary Guard reported to me that something began stirring with the Golden Sarcophagus. As such I went to see what it was with one of the Libarians, and when I looked within it; I had witnessed the body of our Primarch restoring itself to what it once was." Corbulo told the wizened Chapter Master as they began to head towards the medical facilities of their stronghold
"Not only that in the days that followed after this revelation, but I had also witnessed it begun to move and twitch on it's own. As though it were trying to reclaim memories of what his life once was, when he could move with power and grace beyond that of our mightiest Astartes. Which was why, I had our best medics with my oversight alongside that of our Librarians to keep note of what has begun." Corbulo further spoke
"And you are both certain that this is not a trick of the Immaterium or Chaos? This seems as though it would be something the followers of Tzeentch and the Thousand Sons would pull, to give us false hope. Only to tear it away at their convenience as a cruel sick joke, as though we have not suffered enough." Dante questioned with skepticism heavy in his voice
"Once I was notified of this by Corbulo, I immediately rushed to see it for myself, and after many extensive hours of checking and scanning for any signs of trickery from the Warp or the Ruinous Powers. I can confirm in full confidence, that our Primarch has not been nor is he still corrupted by the powers of Chaos. That what we are witnessing is the oncoming rebirth of our Primarch from his vast centuries long death at the hands of the arch-traitor." Mephiston answered back his often dour visage betraying no signs of deception but hope and measured caution at what could be their Primarchs' return
"If you do not believe me, then see it for yourself and know that once again the Blood Angels may have their father returning to them soon enough." Corbulo spoke as they soon rounded the heavily guarded room in question
Where the trio of senior Blood Angels entered and much to Dante's shock, surprise and restrained optimism did he see Sanguinius's form laying in an almost unearthly sleep, no longer pale as a corpse, and broke and battered beyond repair. Instead, he was now in deep slumber, his chest rising and falling as though caught in the throes of a near-bottomless dream, his wings fluttering ever softly as though straining to take flight once more in their unconscious state, his limbs moving sluggishly but with a growing purpose; as though trying to remember their former glory.
The Chapter Master standing with mouth nearly agape as he saw his Primarch in a comatose state his form despite its peaceful appearance, looked to be fighting as hard as it could to restore itself, as wounds thousands of years old continued to knit themselves back together at a purposeful pace; that while not instantaneous was still visible to see. As all he could do as he saw Sanguinius's body trying to move and restore itself with great purpose in order to rise once more, was stand and look with a hope that had long since been lost to him, a hope that perhaps the return of their father would help repair things in the Imperium to its once greatness.
"I…I almost cannot believe it, he does live. The Great Angel himself lives once more." Were the almost unbelieving words of the Chapter Master who saw Sanguinius deep within his death no-more turned comatose slumber
"Indeed, he does brother. Granted he is comatose for the time being, but our best and brightest are doing what is possible to hasten his awakening. It will take some time before he finally his brought from the depths of his slumber into the waking world once more." Corbulo told Dante as he walked over to the massive comatose form of the Great Angel
"How much longer do either of you wager before he will awaken from his comatose state?" Dante questioned
"It could be anywhere from a full solar year, perhaps 2 or more we cannot say for certain. The fact that he has been brought back from the jaws of death, but also his form healing itself after being sundered during the Heresy…it is unprecedented. But what we do know is that soon enough if we continue at our current pace, Lord Dante, that the Great Angel will be fully healed. That not only our Legion will have the strength of our Primarch to support of once again, but the Imperium will have one of its lost sons returned from the dead to lead it in these dark times." Corbulo informed the Chapter Master of the timetable in which Sanguinius could fully resurrect himself in full to lead the 9th Legion
"Good, now then onto my second question…Does anyone else, within the Legion beyond those within this room; know about what has happened?" Dante queried in wanting to know how many knew of this startling revelation
"As of this moment only myself, Corbulo, you, and the senior members of our Apothecary, a few of my chosen Libraians, and those of the Sanguinary Guard know of this. The moment I was made aware of this, I made sure to limit all knowledge of to those who could be trusted with it…The last thing we need is to send the Legion into an uproar in the hopes that our Primarch may soon return, and in doing so have word spread to our enemies; who may rob us of this great fortune." Mephiston answered back regarding the number of those who knew this information
"Good, and I want for it to stay this way. If word were to get out that a Primarch has returned from the dead, before he is fully healed and ready. Then disaster and peril would soon follow in its aftermath, and that is the last thing this Legion needs." Dante instructed of all in the room proper
"As of now this information is not to be spread to anyone who is not of the rank of Captain or higher. Even then it is not to be told without either mine, Mephiston's, or Corbulo's explicit approval. Doing so, will be grounds for punishment of my personal choosing, and I will make it an unforgettable one, am I made clear?!" Dante ordered as the collective reply of 'As you wish, Lord Dante was heard'
"Good, until then I wish to be updated as to any further progress that comes with Lord Sangunius's health." Dante spoke as he exited the room with Mephiston in tow while Corbulo stayed behind
"I have one prevailing question for you, Dante?" Mephiston spoke as he walked alongside the elder Blood Angel
"What would that be, Mephiston?" Dante questioned back
"When Lord Sanguinius awakens, what will we tell him about what has become of not only our Legion. But of the Imperium at large? His death for over 10,000 years is not something that cannot be glossed over, without having to cover the sweeping changes that were to be made since his murder. As such, what are we to do once he is informed of what the Imperium has become?" The Chief Librarian of the Blood Angels questioned knowing that informing their Primarch of what had happened in 10 millenia was going to be difficult as an understatement
"I doubt that he will take well towards knowing that many refer to the God-Emperor as a living corpse. Among other such things, from the forces of Chaos, the Orks, and then their are those blasted Tyrannids who continue to swarm us at every opportunity." Mephiston added as Dante let out a sigh that was one born from centuries of having seen more than what any man should ever have the displeasure of witnessing
"...When our Primarch awakens from his centuries long slumber. I will inform him of what has become of our Legion and the Imperium of man. I doubt it will be a grand affair, given the state we are in. However, as the leading Chapter Master and Commander of our Legion; doing this falls to me more than anyone else." Dante replied knowing that this was a duty that fell too him and him alone
"Then I wish you the very best in that regard." Were the only words of comfort that Mephiston could think to muster in this moment
"Thank you, brother. I will need those well wishes and good fortune when that times comes." Dante spoke before composing himself once more
"In the meantime, I will return to my duties as needed. The planet's defenses need to be fortified should the worst happen, now that Lord Sanguinius will soon return to us. I need to prepare Baal for the worst should something happen, be it the forces of Chaos become brazen enough to invade us wholesale, or the Tyrranids come to devour our home. Then our home will stand ready to defend from whatever horrors soon await us." Dante added knowing that now more than ever would Baal need to stand ready
"Understood, and should you need any assistance. I stand ever vigilant to defend our Legion, our home, and moreover our Primarch…Be it our fallen brethren, the Aeldari, the greenskins, or even the Tyranids, I will sooner die than let our planet fall." Mephiston swore to his Chapter Master who let a small smile cross his wizened face
"And it is with that vigilance that the 9th Legion continues to be in good hands. So until matters are brought to our attention once more, then I will depart until further called upon…May the Emperor's Light shine on you, brother." Dante spoke as he departed to continue his duties as Chapter Master of the 9th
"You as well, Lord Dante." Came the reply from the Lord of Death as he went on his way as well
"Emperor help us all, as we may have a chance yet to turn the tides in this bleak future; that seeks to drive us into eternal oblivion.' Were the grim yet hopeful thoughts of the commander of the Blood Angels
