2012

"One out! Runner on 1st!" Echoed through the field.

It was a nice day at the Rainbow Warrior Softball Stadium. A solid 78 degrees, sun shining overhead. Rachel winded up, heaving the ball towards Santana who was patiently waiting for the pitch.

It was a nice slider on the outside of the plate, and the batter swung- a hard grounder to third.

Quinn slid, stopping the ball. She got up and threw to second and in turn, threw to first for the double play.

The girls cheered, Brittany running in from center field.

It was mid-season for the Wahine Warriors, their record being the best it had been in a few years.

The game was now over and they had won 2-1 against UNLV.

"Good game ladies." Their coach told them.

After a pep talk from their coach, they went to shake hands with the other team before heading their separate ways.

The quadruplets, as named by their team during their freshman season - headed back to their apartment together.

"What's for dinner tonight?" Quinn asked as she opened the front door.

"You guys are on your own, remember? San and I are going out to dinner." Brittany said as she followed her girlfriend into their room. "Our first date in God knows how long." She said as she turned to Santana who was hanging their jerseys by the window.

They were now juniors, and excelling at every part of college. Santana had won tons of awards over the years, but Player of the Year sophomore year was the highlight of it all so far.

Rachel had gotten Pitcher of the Week a few times while Quinn and Brittany got Field Player of the Week once or twice.

"It's been a few months baby. Especially since season started." Santana said, turning around to kiss her girlfriend.

In all aspects, their relationship was flourishing. Moving to Oahu was amazing, and they found that it felt like they belonged.

Lani had Santana's brother a few months after graduation, and eventually moved up to the mainland to be with her dad at Fort Drum in New York. She hated it there, but loved every second of it with Santana's dad and her brother KJ.

A part of her felt like they were being a family without her - but her parents constantly reminded her that they missed her and that they were proud of her playing at UH Manoa.

She was missing out on a lot of her brother growing up but every summer and whenever there was breaks, she'd fly up to see them. Brittany would tag along sometimes but did make trips home to see her parents as well.

In the other bedroom, Quinn was icing Rachel's shoulder with a bag of ice they had in the freezer from the kitchen. Whilst Brittany and Santana were doing great, their relationship hardly compared. It wasn't horrible, but they had been fighting alot over the fact that Rachel's ego would get in the way of things. But they always made it through, and persevered through all the fights and arguments.

Each bedroom had its own bathroom (thankfully) and Santana and Brittany went to shower before getting ready for their date night. It wasn't anything spectacular, but something that was needed with all the practices and traveling they did for softball.

"What do you think they're going to end up eating for dinner?" Brittany asked.

"I don't know, probably the usual- McDonalds since they both can't cook to save their lives." Santana laughed. "Probably starve if it wasn't for us."

Life in the apartment went really smooth regardless. There was a set routine, and as student athletes - that was needed.

Their date night was nothing fancy, just dinner together at their favorite restaurant. There was live music, good vibes. And more importantly - Brittany's favorite loco moco on the entire island.

"Babe, can I ask you something?" Santana asked.

"Anything my love. You know this."

"After college, what are we going to do?"

Brittany looked up from her plate. "What brought this on?"

"I don't know, I mean - we're juniors now. And I just wasn't sure what you had planned after college."

"Baby, what I have planned is whatever and wherever with you." Brittany answered. "I know I crossed my mind to get my masters."

"I like that."

Over the years, Santana and Brittany only grew closer together. The original softball team from Honoka'a bred more elite softball players, and most of them made their way to UH Manoa following Santana's footsteps. So now there were about 6 players from their original team there with them. Santana, Brittany, Rachel, Angel, Kalei and Kama.

Not a bad turn out, because the Wahine Softball team was stronger than ever with the new additions.

The summer before their freshman year had been one for the books. Not only was the girls' combination graduation party the party of the summer, the softball team had gotten together to play in a summer slow pitch league. It was a change of pace, but the girls had fun regardless. They thought that they'd be winning every game but boy were they wrong. Mountain pitches were difficult to get used to, especially playing with older people who had been playing for years. It taught the girls to never take anything for granted, especially age.

"San?"

Santana turned to see Kehau walking towards their table. The girls had hung out with her a few times since high school, she was dating a boy she met her first year of college and they hit it off. A few double dates here and there, but nothing crazy. They were all older now and had gotten past what happened senior year.

While they were talking, Brittany got a call from her mom. She excused herself and walked over to the balcony overlooking the water.

"Hey mom." Brittany said. "Whats up?"

"Hey baby. I just wanted to call and see how you were doing. Dad and I watched the game today, a triple huh?"

"I'd say i'm getting the hang of hitting it outfield." Brittany joked. "I'm glad you guys got to see it."

"You know we won't miss it if we have the opportunity to watch. It'd be much better in person that's for sure. We still talk about your last freshman home game with anyone that's willing to listen."

Brittany laughed, thinking back to the time that her parents surprised her before her last season home game. They were dressed to the nines, sporting UH Manoa shirts, and her dad- proudly wearing a foam finger. They were ecstatic, not only to be there but to have been able to surprise their daughter. Santana was just as excited, being that her parents lived all the way across the continental United States with a newborn. So having familiar faces in the stands just boosted her confidence even more. That home game was a big one, and ended up leading them to one of the biggest seasons that the Rainbow Wahine Warriors had seen in school history.

"We miss you Britt. But we are over the moon proud of the things you have been doing and achieving. How are you and Santana?"

"I appreciate you guys so much. And I miss you guys even more than that. Me and San are good, we're actually out to dinner right now. It's been a while since we had a date night."

"Oh I'm so sorry! You should've told me, I would've let you go."

Britany laughed a bit. "You're fine mom. We actually ran into a friend here at the restaurant, so San is talking to her right now."

"That's great honey. I'm glad that you guys got more friends there especially after the two of you left Honoka'a. How's Quinn? She still with Rachel?"

"She is." Brittany answered. "They're doing better than the last time you called." Brittany looked over at the table and saw that their food had come out. "The food just got here mom. I'll call you tomorrow?"

"Sounds good baby. I love you. Talk to you later."

"Love you more."

And with that the phone call had finished. Kehau was still talking to Santana when Brittany walked back over.

"Hey Britt. Sorry I didn't mean to intrude like this." Kehau apologized.

"You're all good Kehau. My mom called anyway. How are you doing?"

"Good!" She replied, rubbing her stomach. "Kekoa and I are expecting."

Brittany hugged her new friend. "I'm so excited for you. I know you guys have been trying. And knowing you, everything is already planned huh?"

Kehau laughed. "Sure do. But i'll let you guys get back to dinner. This food smells good as fuck. I better go order before Kekoa wonders where I been. Love you guys. See you later."

"Love you." Santana called back.

Brittany had trouble at first, understanding the whole love you thing between her girlfriend and her ex. But the more time spent with her, she understood. Santana never held grudges, she never let the past bad experiences affect them. They were best friend before dating so that was still something.

"Kehau having a baby? That's exciting." Brittany said as started to dig into her loco moco.

"It is. I know she's told me before that she wanted to have kids." Santana paused. "Babe?"

Brittany finished chewing and swallowed before answering, "Yeah?"

"Kehau asked if we'd be godparents. And I totally understand if you say no. But that's what she told me when you were talking to mom on the phone."

"Absolutely." Brittany's face was nearly glowing, the thought of being a godparent to one of her friends babies is exciting. "How are you feeling about it?"

"I mean I'm excited. But being a godparent is work you know? We'll be in charge if something happens to her and Kekoa."

"C'mon now, you know we'd make good parents." Brittany answered.

"You think so?"

"Babe, I see how you are with kids. Especially with your brother and I think you'd make a great mother." Brittany reached across the table to hold Santana's hand.

"Thanks baby. I mean yeah I see it. I just wanna make sure that we'll be ready for that responsibility if it were to ever come up."

"You know that we won't be alone. We'd have a village like you always say." Brittany smiled before taking another scoop of her meal with her spoon.

"Enough of this let's eat." Santana said. She grabbed her fork and began eating her chicken katsu.

2014

Graduation had just finished, and the girls were ready to begin the next chapter of their lives.

"You guys coming out to dinner tonight?" Santana asked as the girls walked out to the parking lot.

Everyone was in attendance for their college graduation. Santana's parents and her little brother, Brittany's parents, Rachel's dads and Quinn's mom. Her dad was away on a work trip and couldn't get out of it.

At the end of Junior year, the girls split from their shared apartment. Both relationships were getting more serious so their own space was important. They regularly hung out on weekends and still saw each other at school and practice of course.

Senior season of softball, ended up being career ending for Rachel. She threw her shoulder out during the 3rd game of the season and never fully recovered. Quinn remained at third base, Santana at catcher and Brittany at center. The team made it far, but didn't make it to post season.

"We will. My dads are going to be in town and wanted to know if we wanted to join them at the bar? Still weird to say that." Rachel said as she took off a few of her leis.

"Maybe we'll meet you there after? We're just having dinner." Santana added.

"Just let us know then!" Rachel said as she shut her car door. Her and Quinn waved as they drove off.

Brittany and Santana headed home and got ready to go out to dinner.

Brittany was taking her time doing her make up when the doorbell rang.

"San?" Brittany called out. "Can you get that?"

She got back to singing to her music when she heard the doorbell ring again.

Brittany walked out of the bathroom and realized that Santana wasn't around. She grabbed her phone out of her pocket to check if she had any recent texts to only find a blank notification center. After locking her phone, the doorbell rang once again.

"Coming!" She called out. When she opened the door, she found Quinn standing there in a yellow sundress, holding a single rose. "Q? What are you doing here?"

"Don't worry. Just come on. We got somewhere to be." Quinn smiled as she held her hand out.

Confused, Brittany grabbed her purse from the table near the door and followed her friend to her car. "Wait, San is home I think and-"

"Don't worry about it. Please." The girls walk out to Quinn's car and get in.

They begin driving and Brittany still has no clue what's happening.

"Quinn-"

"Don't ask B. We're almost there, I promise you'll know soon."

Quinn looked nervous, a single bead of sweat was dripping down from her temple.

"At least open a window Q." Brittany laughed to break the tension.

"I can't it'll ruin my hair." Quinn said as she brushed her golden blonde lock behind her ear before she started laughing.

About ten minutes into the drive, Quinn finally takes a turn into a parking lot and Brittany finally realized where they were.

"Q.." Brittany says.

"Here. Take this." Quinn says as she hands her a second rose.

As the girls walked towards the building, the name Plumeria Beach House shined on the sign. As they turned the corner, there stood Rachel with another rose.

"For you, m'lady." Rachel said playfully as she bowed and handed her friend the rose.

"What the fuck is going on?" Brittany questioned. She turned back to see that Quinn was recording her.

This isn't what I think it is she thought to herself.

Once she headed closer to the beach there were her parents, all dressed up standing next to Santana's parents. The group smiled as Brittany's mom was near tears. KJ stepped forward, holding a half bouquet of flowers. He was smiling from ear to ear, wearing a little button up collared shirt with a bow tie. Brittany's eyes began to water as she squatted down to take the flowers from him, pulling him in for a hug. That's when she realized what she was about to walk up upon.

Once she took the last corner, there stood Santana, flowers in hand. Smiling, and crying already. She was in a cute little suit, waiting anxiously for Brittany to walk up towards her.

There were flower petals covered the walkway towards the shore where the big words 'marry me' were illuminated by candles and torches.

Brittany walked up to Santana, who handed her the rest of the flowers to create a full bouquet. There was soft music playing in the background, an instrumental version of rude.

"Brittany," Santana began. "Everything up until this point has been, fantastic. Everything I could've ever dreamed of and more. And I know I tell you this all the time, and you're probably sick of it but it's the truth. And I tell you all the time because sometimes I forget this is real life. We've done it all together. We've fought, we've laughed. We've celebrated life goals and I can't imagine having anyone else by my side through it all." Santana knelt down slowly, and pulled the ring out of her pocket. "Brittany Susan Pierce, will you marry me?"

It took a few seconds for Brittany to truly comprehend what was happening. Between the tears and the sound of her own heartbeat did it finally register that Santana was proposing to her. That she would be spending the rest of her life with the woman that has made her heart so full.

"Yes. Yes. Absolutely. I would love to marry you." Brittany said through the tears. "Yes yes yes."

Santana stood up and slipped the ring onto Brittany's finger. And once they kissed, everyone cheered. Brittany turned to see that not only were they surrounded by family, nearly everyone that meant something to them was there in attendance. There, at the restaurant and the second floor balcony was their friends, old and new. Some teammates from college, the entire Honoka'a team, and even Kehau, her fiance and their son.

A beautiful day surrounded by the people who meant the most to them.

Everyone was mingling now, talking stories and sipping on the celebratory champagne that the restaurant provided for everyone.

Santana turned to Brittany. "Now, was this all that you could've imagined it to be?"

"Everyday, Santana Lopez, you surprise me. That day you told me you'd show me everything Hawai'i has to offer and you've kept your word." Brittany leaned over and kissed her fiance. "I love you."

Santana tapped Brittany's glass lightly. "I love you, Brittany. And I can't wait to see where this life takes us."

AN: Sheesh. 11 years later, and I've finally finished the fic that has been the upmost pleasure to write. This journey has been nothing but wonderful, and all the people that I've met along the way.

If you've been here since the beginning, thank you. I'm sure that most of you figured that this was how the story was going to end.

Looking back through the chapters, I've went through some MAJOR life things in here. Got married, (getting divorced btw, please don't apologize. It has been a really big life lesson there lol), deployed, worked, I've gotten promoted in the Army twice since it has started and that's not even half of it.

I just want to say thank you to everyone. For the comments, the shares, the reads. The support over the years. Thank you for everything.
