Itachi stepped through the front door of his family home, greeted by the warm, familiar smell of home-cooked food and the comforting sight of his family. Yana, his mother, was the first to greet him with a bright smile, her eyes filled with pride. Momo, his little sister, sat on the couch, grinning wide, while Takashi, their father, leaned back in his chair, his usual composed demeanor giving way to a pleased expression.
"Welcome back, Itachi!" Yana exclaimed, walking over to him with open arms. "We saw the news. You've officially been ranked the No. 2 hero! And the truth about Kaina... it's all out now."
Itachi, though usually reserved, couldn't help the small, genuine smile that tugged at the corner of his lips. It wasn't just the ranking that made him feel lighter; it was the fact that Kaina's story had been revealed to the world. The burden of secrecy had been lifted, and though the path ahead was still difficult, there was a sense of relief.
"It's good to be home," he said softly, letting his guard down just a little in the comfort of his family's presence.
Yana, ever perceptive, tilted her head, her eyes studying her son. "How's Kaina? I heard about her sentence... What's going to happen to her?"
Itachi's expression darkened slightly, his smile fading as he sighed. "She was sentenced to two years in prison."
"Two years?!" Momo's voice rose in disbelief, her brows furrowing. "That's not fair. She was manipulated. She didn't choose any of this!"
"I know," Itachi replied, his voice calm but weighted with frustration. "But the law is the law. She still has to face the consequences, even if she wasn't in control."
Yana crossed her arms, looking thoughtfully at her son. "But she can recover, right? After the two years, she can start over... maybe even become a hero again?"
Itachi nodded. "Yes. She'll have the chance to return. It's not the end for her."
Momo, sensing the serious tone, decided to lighten the mood. She exchanged a sly look with Yana before grinning mischievously. "Oh, I see what's going on here," she teased, nudging their mother with her elbow. "Big brother's worried about his girlfriend. Isn't that right, Mom?"
Yana's eyes sparkled with amusement as she joined in. "Of course. He was always so protective of Kaina. I remember when he always called her . Isn't that true, Itachi?"
Itachi, usually stoic, felt a slight blush creep up his neck. His expression didn't change much, but there was a hint of exasperation in his eyes as he tried to hide the small smile threatening to break through. "Mom, Momo... enough," he muttered, though the fondness in his tone betrayed his words.
"Oh, come on!" Momo said with a laugh. "You're always so serious. It's nice to see you care about someone."
"It's true," Yana added with a playful grin. "You may not say much, Itachi, but we can tell. Kaina's lucky to have someone like you."
Itachi shook his head, trying to brush off the teasing, but the small smile stayed on his lips. His family's light-heartedness was a welcome break from the weight of everything he had been carrying. He felt a warmth in his chest, knowing that they understood him, even if he wasn't one to express his emotions openly.
"Alright, alright," he finally said, giving in just a little. "But don't push your luck."
Momo giggled, and Yana smiled proudly at her son. Takashi, who had been quietly watching the interaction, finally spoke up, his voice calm but supportive. "Kaina's strong, Itachi. She'll get through this. And with you by her side, she'll find her way back."
Itachi glanced at his father, nodding in agreement. "I hope so," he said softly.
As the evening went on, the weight of the world outside their home seemed to fade. In this moment, surrounded by his family's love and teasing, Itachi allowed himself to hope—for Kaina, for their future, and for the strength to face whatever came next.
As the night settled in and Itachi relaxed with his family, the peaceful atmosphere was interrupted by the subtle hum of his phone vibrating in his pocket. Glancing at the screen, he saw a familiar name—one that still commanded both respect and a deep sense of responsibility. Star, the world's strongest woman and his mentor, was calling.
Itachi stood up from the couch, giving a slight nod to his family as he excused himself. He stepped out onto the porch, feeling the cool night air wash over him, and answered the call.
"Itachi," came Star's confident and booming voice from the other end, her tone carrying a mix of pride and expectation. "Congratulations, kid. You've officially made it to No. 2. Not bad for someone who used to say they didn't care about rankings."
Itachi allowed a faint smile to appear, though she couldn't see it. "Thank you, master," he replied. "But it's not the ranking that matters. I'm just relieved the truth about Kaina is finally out."
Star's voice softened slightly, but there was still that unmistakable strength behind her words. "You did well, boy. You stood tall when it mattered most. That's what being a hero is all about—not just fighting villains, but standing for the people who need you. You showed everyone what you're made of."
Itachi's gaze wandered to the night sky, taking in the stars above. "I just did what needed to be done."
"Modest as always," Star chuckled on the other end. "But remember this, Itachi. Being at the top comes with its own set of challenges. People will look to you for guidance, for strength. And with that comes pressure—pressure you'll have to carry whether you want it or not."
He nodded to himself, understanding her words well. He had faced this kind of pressure before, in another life. And yet, no matter the world or the time, the burden of leadership remained the same.
"I understand, master."
"Good," Star replied, her voice shifting slightly. "And do you remember what I told you? Your spot in America!"
Itachi remembered her offer, and he had a smile on his face."Yes, I remember," he said quietly. "But I think I'll be here for a while. There's a lot happening, and Kaina… she needs me."
There was a brief pause on the other end before Star's voice came through, reassuring and strong. "I figured as much. Take the time you need, kid. No rush. Just know that if anything comes up, and you need me... I'll be there. You're not alone in this, Itachi. Your master will stand with you, always."
Itachi's grip on the phone tightened, a small wave of gratitude washing over him. Star was many things—strong, relentless, sometimes a bit brash—but she had always been there for him, supporting him when he needed it most.
"I appreciate that," Itachi said softly. "Thank you, master."
With that, the call ended, and Itachi stood in silence for a moment, letting Star's words sink in. The future still held many uncertainties, but for the first time in a long while, he felt like he wasn't carrying the weight alone. He had his family, his mentor, and most importantly, he had something worth fighting for.
Time skip for few months
Over the past few months, Itachi found himself increasingly busy. Balancing his duties as a hero with the management of his own agency left little room for rest. On top of that, he was constantly searching for people—whether it was for investigations or helping those in need. But no matter how busy his day was, every evening, without fail, Itachi would visit Kaina at the police station. Despite the glass barrier between them, their time together brought them both happiness. The warmth in her eyes and the small smiles they shared were enough to make the long days feel worth it.
Itachi had quickly come to understand that being a hero wasn't just about helping people; it also meant dealing with the intense spotlight and constant attention. He sighed as he sat in his room, feeling the weight of that reality. "It's a lot of attention," he muttered, his voice barely above a whisper. His phone rang, interrupting his thoughts.
Answering the call, he heard his manager's chipper voice on the other end. "Good morning, Aegis!"
"Morning," Itachi replied, his tone neutral.
"Did you see the email?" his manager asked, his voice buzzing with excitement.
"Yes, I saw it," Itachi said flatly.
"Great! So, are you ready?" the manager asked eagerly.
Itachi let out a deep sigh, his frustration clear. "Do I really have to be part of this nonsense? And who gave you the authority to schedule an interview without my permission?"
"Sir… It's a huge opportunity! A lot of people are eager to see you, and the interview will be broadcast worldwide. You might even gain international recognition!" the manager explained, clearly trying to convince him.
Itachi rubbed his temples in frustration. He wasn't a fan of the attention that came with his work, but before he could object further, his manager added, "And… if you're still unsure, I can always give your mother a call."
That was the final push. Itachi sighed in defeat. "Fine, I'll do it."
"Great! Then come in your hero costume to the film center on [XX] Street," his manager said, clearly pleased with himself.
"Yes," Itachi replied before hanging up, feeling a mixture of annoyance and resignation. He thought to himself, Why do I even have a manager? Oh, right… that was my mother's idea.
Standing up, he stretched slightly before heading to his wardrobe. Pulling out his hero costume, he quickly got changed and made his way to the living room. His parents, Yana and Takashi, were already there, smiling as they saw him.
"Good morning, Itachi," Yana greeted him warmly, her eyes shining with pride.
"Good morning, mother," he replied as he sat down on the sofa with a heavy sigh.
Takashi raised an eyebrow, sensing something was bothering his son. "What's the matter?"
Itachi leaned back in the sofa. "I have an interview today. With All Might."
Yana's face lit up. "That's wonderful! You should be happy."
Itachi sighed again. "It's just… too much attention. They'll ask a bunch of stupid questions, and it's going to be exhausting."
Yana laughed softly. "But I get to see my baby on television, and that makes me proud."
A small smile tugged at Itachi's lips. "It's fine, but the manager…" he trailed off, his frustration returning.
Takashi gave him a knowing look. "What about him?"
"He approved this interview without even asking me. That's the problem," Itachi replied, rubbing his forehead. "I think it's time I found a different manager."
Yana nodded thoughtfully. "If that's what you want, I can arrange for you to meet with some other potential managers."
Itachi nodded back, appreciative of his mother's support. "For now, I'll just get through this interview."
He stood up, ready to leave. "I'll be back late tonight," he said as he prepared to head out.
Yana and Takashi exchanged a smile before Yana spoke up, her voice filled with motherly concern. "Make sure you take something to eat with you—if they allow it, of course."
Itachi nodded, grateful for their care. "I will."
Itachi stepped into his garage and made his way toward his car. The sleek, polished vehicle reflected his no-nonsense style—efficient, subtle, and built for speed. He slid inside, the engine roaring to life with a low hum, and began his drive to the Agency location. As the cityscape passed him by, his mind wandered to the conversation ahead. He sighed. An interview... more attention.
Itachi entered his agency, a modern building with sleek glass facades and minimalist architecture that embodied his calm demeanor. The Uchiha symbol, subtly woven into the branding, greeted him at every corner, a reminder of his heritage and the legacy he carried into this new world. The clean lines and neutral tones of the interior gave off a professional and composed atmosphere, much like the man himself.
As he stepped into the lobby, the receptionist stood up immediately. "Good morning, sir," she greeted, her tone respectful.
"Good morning," Itachi replied with a nod as he continued walking toward his office, the receptionist falling into step beside him.
"Sir," she started, her voice cautious, "we need more sidekicks."
Itachi, walking with his usual composed stride, gave a brief nod. "I know. Let's see what today brings." He kept his tone neutral but reassuring.
She continued, "We also need more staff, and I'm sorry to say... the manager isn't doing his job."
Itachi sighed quietly, already aware of the issue. "I know," he said, pulling out his phone as they walked. He dialed the number, and after a moment, his manager picked up.
"Yes, sir?" the manager answered.
"From this moment on," Itachi said calmly but with finality, "you are no longer my manager."
The manager sounded shocked. "Sir, what happened? I didn't do anything—"
Itachi cut him off smoothly. "I told you to hire staff and pass the information to the receptionist, but you didn't. And without my permission, you arranged an interview. You're fired." Without waiting for a response, Itachi hung up, slipping the phone back into his pocket.
He turned to the receptionist. "Do me a favor—draft an advertisement for the new staff members we need."
She nodded, already pulling out a file. "Yes, sir. Currently, we're in need of Administrative Staff: 5, Public Relations/Marketing: 3, Legal Advisors: 2, Finance/Accounting: 2, Trainers/Teachers: 3, Pro Heroes: 5-10—that's up to you—and for sidekicks or interns, 3-4. We also need one manager and another receptionist."
Itachi exhaled, glancing over the details. "Circulate the job openings," he instructed.
"Yes, sir," she responded, bowing her head slightly before hurrying off to carry out his orders.
As she left, Itachi stood for a moment, feeling the weight of his responsibilities growing. This agency was part of his life now—a symbol of his efforts to help this world in a new way, but with that came leadership, management, and decisions he hadn't expected. He sighed, silently reflecting on the complexity of balancing everything before he turned and continued toward his office to prepare for the day ahead.
Itachi sighed, feeling the weight of his responsibilities. "This is exhausting," he muttered to himself. Glancing at the clock, he realized he still had time before the interview at 8 PM. "I can meet her before that," he thought, a small smile tugging at his lips. Itachi stood up, deciding that a patrol would clear his mind.
After spending three hours patrolling the city, ensuring the streets were safe and peaceful, Itachi made his way to the police station. Upon entering, one of the officers looked up and greeted him, "Aegis, here to see her again?"
Itachi nodded silently and proceeded inside. He approached the familiar desk and called Kaina's name through the mic. After a brief wait, Kaina appeared, escorted by a female officer. She had a smile on her face as soon as she saw him.
"Hi, Itachi," she greeted warmly, her eyes lighting up.
Itachi couldn't help but soften at her presence. "Kaina," he replied, his voice steady but laced with warmth. Despite the glass barrier between them, these moments together always brought them a sense of peace.
"It's been a busy few months," Itachi began, his gaze briefly shifting to the floor before returning to her. "You already know about my agency… things have been moving fast, but I'm still short on staff."
Kaina tilted her head slightly, her soft smile never fading. "I figured you'd be handling a lot on your own. You've always been the type to take everything on yourself," she teased gently, her tone playful yet understanding.
He allowed a faint smile to form, knowing she was right. "It's not by choice," he admitted. "I fired my manager today. He wasn't pulling his weight, and I'm in the middle of looking for new staff… administrative, PR, trainers, and sidekicks. It's… a lot."
Kaina chuckled softly. "Sounds like you need someone to whip things into shape over there."
"Maybe," Itachi replied, shaking his head lightly. "But that's not all. I've got an interview tonight. With All Might."
Kaina's eyebrows rose slightly, her eyes brightening with curiosity. "The All Might?" she asked, leaning forward a bit, still maintaining her soft smile. "That's big, Itachi."
"It's unnecessary," he responded, though there was no real annoyance in his voice. "I don't like the attention, and I'm not sure what's so important about this interview. My manager set it up without asking. He wanted to boost the agency's reputation, but now it's just another thing on my plate."
Kaina chuckled again, this time with a little more empathy. "It's a part of the job, Itachi. People want to know more about the hero they admire. It's not just about saving lives; it's about inspiring them too."
Itachi sighed, leaning back in his chair. "I know. It's just… not what I wanted. I'm more comfortable working behind the scenes. But this interview is going to be broadcasted worldwide."
Kaina gave him a reassuring smile. "I think you'll do great. People will see you for who you are, not just the hero on the streets. You'll inspire them, even if you don't think you will."
Itachi looked at her for a moment, appreciating her unwavering support. "Maybe you're right," he said quietly, though he still had his doubts. "I just wish I had more control over things like this."
"Well," Kaina said softly, her smile turning slightly mischievous, "if it gets too overwhelming, you know where to find me."
Itachi allowed himself a rare, genuine smile in return. "I'll keep that in mind," he said, his tone carrying a rare warmth.
After a brief silence, Itachi's gaze softened as he leaned forward slightly, his voice low and calm. "And how have you been, Kaina?" he asked, genuine concern in his tone. "It can't be easy in here."
Kaina's smile faltered slightly, and for the first time since they started talking, there was a hint of sadness in her eyes. She glanced down for a moment, as if gathering her thoughts, before looking back up at him.
"I'm managing," she said softly, her voice steady but with an underlying melancholy. "It's… not easy, but I've learned to live with it. Some days are better than others." She hesitated for a second, then continued, "I can't say it doesn't get lonely, though."
Itachi's expression didn't change much outwardly, but there was a flicker of empathy in his eyes. He understood isolation better than most, the weight of decisions, the solitude that came with being in difficult situations.
"I'm sorry you have to go through this," he said, his voice almost a whisper. "If there was anything I could do to change things…"
Kaina shook her head gently, cutting him off with a sad smile. "You've done more than enough, Itachi. You visit me, and that means more than you know. It's something I look forward to every day." Her eyes softened as she added, "But you don't need to carry my burden too."
Itachi stayed silent for a moment, his mind turning over her words. It was true that he couldn't change her circumstances, but that didn't make it easier to watch her endure them. "You're not a burden, Kaina," he said quietly, his gaze steady. "I come because I want to. Because you matter to me."
Her eyes widened slightly, and for a moment, the sadness seemed to lift. "You always know what to say," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "Itachi Yaoyorozu, the calm and 'The Most Handsome hero' with a heart." She chuckled softly, though there was still a tinge of sadness lingering in her expression.
"I'm just being honest," he replied, his tone as even as ever, but the sincerity in his words was unmistakable.
Kaina held his gaze, and for a brief moment, the sadness in her eyes was replaced by something warmer—gratitude, maybe even hope. "Thank you, Itachi," she said softly. "For always being here. It means a lot."
He nodded slowly, understanding that sometimes just being present was the best thing he could offer. "I'll always be here," he promised quietly, his eyes never leaving hers.
The sound of a door creaking open broke the moment of quiet between them. A policeman stepped into the room, his presence a reminder of the inevitable. He stood by the entrance, hands clasped in front of him as he nodded toward Itachi. "It's time now," he said gently, though there was an unspoken urgency in his voice.
Itachi exhaled slowly, not surprised but feeling the weight of the moment press down on him. He glanced back at Kaina, who offered him a soft smile, though it was tinged with a quiet sadness.
"All the best, Itachi," she said, her voice steady but subdued. "I'll see your interview from here. It'll be strange, watching from the other side of the bars, but I'll be cheering you on, as always."
Itachi's lips curved into a small, almost imperceptible smile—one that only Kaina would notice. "I'll hold you to that," he replied softly, standing up from his seat. He gazed at her for a few moments longer, as though silently conveying all the things he wished he could say but couldn't find the words for.
Kaina rose to her feet as well, her hands resting on the table between them, her expression calm but with the undeniable trace of melancholy in her eyes. She nodded, her unspoken understanding filling the space between them. "Take care of yourself, Itachi," she murmured. "And don't let them wear you down out there. The world needs you, even more now."
He nodded, his gaze still fixed on her, though the weight of responsibility and unspoken promises hung in the air. "You too, Kaina. I'll come back again soon," he promised, his voice low but resolute.
With a final look, he turned and began walking toward the door, his long coat trailing behind him as he moved with his signature composed grace. Kaina stood by the table, watching him go, her heart heavy but still grateful for the moments they shared.
As he stepped out of the room, the door closed behind him with a soft thud, sealing the separation between them once again. The hallway beyond the door was stark and cold, a stark contrast to the quiet warmth he had just left behind.
Outside the police station, the world continued as normal. Itachi paused for a moment on the steps, the weight of the recent conversation settling on his shoulders. He looked up at the sky, the clouds drifting lazily overhead, as if unaware of the heaviness inside him. The interview, the questions, the public—all of that would come soon enough, but in this moment, his thoughts remained with Kaina.
She was strong, he reminded himself. Stronger than most would ever know. And as much as it pained him to leave her in that cold, lonely cell, he knew she would find her way through this darkness.
Taking a deep breath, Itachi squared his shoulders and began walking away from the station, the sound of his footsteps echoing in the stillness of the Evening. The world would soon see him as the calm, collected hero they always did, but for now, there was a shadow of sadness lingering in his eyes—a reflection of the pain he wished he could take away from the woman he cared for.
With one last glance back at the building, he whispered to himself, "Until next time, Kaina."
He went to his vehicle, got inside, and thought about the interview. He sighed, started his engine, and headed to the film center.
When he arrived at the film center, the large lights and the hustle of the production crew caught his eye. He parked his car, stepped out, and entered the building. Almost immediately, he spotted All Might in his iconic hero costume, standing confidently in the center of the room. His bright smile beamed toward Itachi as he greeted him loudly, "Hello, Aegis! It's good to see you!"
Always so loud, Itachi thought, suppressing a sigh, but he bowed politely and responded, "It's good to see you too, All Might."
Itachi glanced around the room, noticing the crew bustling about, setting up cameras and adjusting the lighting. A group of young women from the crew stood off to the side, their eyes flickering in his direction, some of them blushing as they whispered amongst themselves. Itachi ignored the attention, staying focused on the task at hand.
Stepping closer to All Might, Itachi lowered his voice to a whisper. "How's your health?"
All Might smiled warmly, his usual jovial spirit undimmed. "I'm good, don't worry, young Yaoyorozu. I can still hold my own."
Itachi nodded, though concern lingered in his eyes. Before he could respond, he noticed a commotion as the female interviewer was preparing herself in another room. The cameras were almost ready to roll, and the set was buzzing with activity. But for now, Itachi's focus remained on All Might.
Leaning closer again, Itachi whispered, "If you don't mind me asking, sir… what have you decided about your Quirk?"
All Might chuckled softly, keeping his voice low to match Itachi's. "Ah, I'm still looking for my successor. There's still time, Aegis—you could be the one."
Itachi shook his head, his expression resolute. "My answer hasn't changed, sir. I can't."
All Might regarded him for a moment before nodding in understanding, though a hint of disappointment flickered across his features. Itachi hesitated briefly, then spoke again, this time with a thoughtful tone. "May I offer a suggestion?"
All Might raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Of course, I'm always open to wisdom from you, young Yaoyorozu."
Itachi leaned in slightly, his voice barely above a whisper. "You should give your Quirk to someone who's quirkless."
All Might blinked, surprised by the suggestion. "And why do you say that?"
Itachi's gaze became distant for a moment, as if he were recalling a lesson long learned. Then, he spoke softly but with a conviction that resonated deeply. "Because power is best understood by those who have lived without it. Someone who has struggled, who knows what it's like to be powerless, will appreciate that strength—and use it with wisdom and restraint. They'll understand the responsibility better than anyone who's always had power."
All Might's smile softened, a glimmer of admiration in his eyes as he considered Itachi's words. "That's... an insightful perspective. I'll take it to heart. Thank you, Aegis."
Itachi nodded, feeling a sense of closure to the conversation. Though he respected All Might's decision-making, he wanted to plant the idea in his mind, knowing how much of an impact it could have on someone quirkless receiving such a powerful gift.
The interviewer stepped outside, her gaze immediately locking onto Itachi. She stared for a moment longer than expected, seemingly surprised by his presence, before shaking her head with a slight smile. She moved toward the set and sat down at the table, preparing for the show. Itachi sighed quietly to himself, feeling the familiar weight of attention settle on his shoulders. He glanced over at the director, who gave him a nod, signaling it was time to begin.
The director spoke, "Alright, we're rolling. Start the show."
The lights dimmed slightly, and a soft jingle played as the camera panned toward the interviewer. She smiled brightly, the energy in the room lifting as she introduced the evening's segment.
"Good evening, everyone, and welcome to another exciting episode of The Evening Show with Yumi Takahashi—where we dive deep into the lives of the people shaping our world today. I'm your host, Yumi Takahashi, and tonight, we have not just one, but two of the most powerful and inspiring heroes joining us!"
Her voice carried a sense of anticipation, as the audience leaned in closer to their screens.
"That's right, folks. Brace yourselves, because tonight's guests are nothing short of legends. First up, a name that has become synonymous with justice and hope, the man who is known as the Symbol of Peace and who inspired an entire generation to believe in the power of good. Please join me in welcoming... the one and only, All Might!"
The sound of applause filled the studio as All Might entered, his iconic booming laugh immediately bringing a sense of familiarity and excitement. He waved at the camera and the small audience present.
"Ha ha ha! Thank you, thank you! It's a pleasure to be here, Young Takahashi!" His voice filled the room, larger-than-life, just like the hero himself.
Yumi beamed up at him as he took his seat. "It's an honor to have you, All Might. I think the energy in the room just went up by a hundred percent!"
All Might chuckled, nodding graciously as he settled into his chair.
"But that's not all!" Yumi continued, her voice taking on an even more excited edge. "As if having All Might wasn't enough, we have another incredible guest with us tonight. He's calm, tactical, and has risen to the No. 2 hero spot with precision and grace. Known for his stoic resolve and unshakable sense of duty, please give a warm welcome to Aegis, also known as the world's most handsome man!"
There was a ripple of applause, and a few excited murmurs spread through the crowd as Itachi, wearing his hero costume, stepped forward into the light. His expression remained impassive, though there was a slight acknowledgment of the compliment as he nodded briefly.
Yumi smiled warmly as she gestured to the seat beside All Might. "Aegis, thank you for joining us tonight."
Itachi took his seat with calm precision, his gaze briefly meeting hers before returning to the camera, his usual air of composed authority unwavering. "Thank you for having me," he said, his voice soft but firm, carrying a weight that commanded attention.
The audience was silent for a beat, captivated by the stark contrast between All Might's boisterous energy and Itachi's cool, collected demeanor. Yumi, ever the professional, seamlessly continued.
"With two such incredible heroes here tonight, I know our viewers are in for a real treat. We have so much to talk about—your journeys, your challenges, and what it means to stand at the forefront of hero society. But first, how does it feel to be here tonight, All Might?"
All Might let out another hearty laugh, "Ha ha! It feels fantastic! Always a pleasure to be in the spotlight, especially when I get to sit next to such esteemed company as Aegis here!"
He patted Itachi on the shoulder, the force of his good-natured gesture barely acknowledged by Itachi, who remained composed.
Yumi turned her attention to Itachi, her eyes glinting with curiosity. "Aegis, how do you feel? I believe this is your first interview, am I right? How are you feeling?"
Itachi glanced at her calmly, his gaze steady. "I'm feeling good," he replied with his usual composed tone. "I'm not particularly fond of interviews, but it's a necessary part of the job. So, it's great."
Yumi nodded, a smile lighting up her face. "Well, we're glad to have you here. And there's so much to talk about today! Let me start with something interesting. You once worked under the world's strongest woman, Star and Stripe, am I correct?"
Itachi nodded once, acknowledging the truth of her statement.
She continued, her voice laced with admiration, "I want to know—how was that experience for you?"
Itachi paused for a moment, reflecting on his time in America. "It was a great experience for me. Being a sidekick under the No. 1 hero in America was both challenging and rewarding. I also trained under her guidance, which was a lot of fun, and I learned a great deal. Star and Stripe is not just a powerful hero, but an excellent mentor."
Yumi beamed at his response, clearly thrilled. "Yes, I can only imagine how incredible that must have been! Honestly, sitting here in front of two of the most popular heroes... My legs are shaking a little!"
All Might laughed heartily at her confession, while Itachi allowed himself a faint smile, amused by her genuine enthusiasm.
She quickly regained her composure, smiling brightly at the two heroes. "There are a lot of questions I want to ask, but let's start with you, All Might. Now, I know you've been asked the same questions over and over, but I want to try something a little different. I think the audience will love to hear your thoughts on this one."
All Might leaned forward slightly, still smiling. "Well, I'm all ears! Go ahead and ask away."
Yumi leaned in as well, her voice softer but filled with reverence. "You've been such an inspiring figure to people all over the world. Your courage, your unwavering optimism—it's something that heroes, both young and old, look up to. I have to ask, though, was there a specific moment in your life when you knew this was your path? What shaped your heroic motto, your drive to always smile in the face of danger?"
All Might's expression softened as he considered the question, his usual booming voice quieting into something more reflective. "Ah, Young Takahashi, that's a wonderful question. You know, like many heroes, I've faced my fair share of challenges and seen a lot of darkness. But early on, I realized that if I couldn't smile, if I couldn't maintain that symbol of peace, then others wouldn't feel safe."
He paused, his eyes filled with a mixture of nostalgia and wisdom. "That's always been my driving force—being the pillar that people can depend on, no matter how tough the fight or how dire the situation. A hero's job isn't just to fight villains, it's to give people hope. And that's what keeps me going."
The room was silent for a moment as his words resonated with the audience. Yumi looked at him with deep admiration, clearly moved by his response.
She nodded slowly, almost in awe. "I think that's what makes you so special, All Might. Your ability to inspire hope, even in the darkest times. Thank you for sharing that with us."
All Might smiled warmly, his eyes twinkling as he gave her a small nod. "Ha ha! It's my Yumi turned her attention back to Itachi, her eyes twinkling with curiosity. "How about you, Aegis? Recently, you've been all over social media. People can't stop talking about you. And, it seems like you have a massive female fan following. In fact, many have crowned you as the world's most handsome hero! How does that feel?"
Itachi, always composed, gave a small nod. "I'm not fond of attention," he said in his usual calm tone. "But thank you for the compliment."
Yumi giggled, leaning forward with a teasing grin. "I have to confess—I'm one of those people. I'm a big fan of yours, and, to be honest, I had a bit of a crush on you."
Itachi blinked, slightly caught off guard. "Oh..."
She laughed, waving it off. "Yes, but I know that's not going to happen, so don't worry." Then, with a playful wink, she added, "Anyway, back to the show. I've got some more questions for you. You're currently the No. 2 hero. How does that feel? What's your take on being in such a high position?"
Itachi remained unfazed, his answer direct. "For me, rankings don't matter. What's important is how I perform my duties. That's all that counts."
Yumi smiled at his stoic response. "That's cool to hear. You're focused on your work and staying grounded."
At that point, All Might chimed in, his voice booming with pride. "This kid's going to go even further. Mark my words, he'll surpass expectations!"
Itachi offered a rare, small smile. "It's an honor to hear that coming from you, All Might."
Yumi beamed at their interaction before steering the conversation in a more serious direction. "Aegis, if you don't mind, I'd like to ask you a personal question."
Itachi glanced at her and nodded for her to continue.
"Recently, the case with the Hero Public Safety Commission (HPSC) shocked the nation, especially the Lady Nagant incident. It was initially painted in a very one-sided manner, making her appear as a villain. But then you stepped in. During your speech, you even went so far as to remove her name from the villain registry. What prompted you to make that decision? One of the criminals even confessed to his crimes afterward."
Itachi's expression turned solemn. "I'm sorry, but I can't reveal specific details about that case. However, I can say this—those responsible for the injustice Lady Nagant faced have already been dealt with. I made sure that the truth came to light, and that what happened to her would not happen again. She didn't deserve to suffer the way she did."
The room fell quiet for a moment as the weight of his words sank in. Yumi's smile faded slightly, replaced by a look of respect and understanding.
"Thank you for sharing that," she said softly, her voice filled with sincerity. "Your dedication to justice is clear."
All Might nodded in agreement, his usual joviality giving way to a more serious expression as well. "Indeed, Aegis here has a strong sense of what's right. That's why I have no doubt he'll continue to be a beacon of hope in this world."
Yumi leaned forward, her eyes twinkling with curiosity. "Aegis, there are a lot of pictures circulating online of you and Lady Nagant walking together. The speculation is that the two of you might be in a relationship. And given how you cleared her name, those suspicions only grew stronger. What do you have to say about that?"
Itachi paused for a moment, thinking it over before allowing a small smile to appear on his face. "We do have a strong relationship," he began. "We respect each other as heroes, and I admire her strength. She's a very good friend."
Yumi, sensing the need to dig a little deeper, grinned. "So, she's just a friend?"
Itachi chuckled softly. "Well, she's my closest friend. How about that?"
In the cozy warmth of their living room, Yana sat on the couch, eyes glued to the screen, watching Itachi—now known as Aegis—navigate his interview with calm precision. She sighed and shook her head, her voice filled with motherly concern. "He's not answering the questions properly..." she muttered under her breath.
Beside her, Momo nodded in agreement, arms crossed. "Right? He should've just said it—'she's my girlfriend.' Is that really so hard?" Her tone carried a mix of frustration and playful exasperation.
Takashi, sitting in his armchair, exhaled deeply, his voice calm and understanding. "He just doesn't want to reveal it too soon. Give him time. He's careful, you know how he is."
Yana smiled, her eyes softening as they lingered on the screen. "Still, look at him... my boy looks so handsome up there."
Momo smiled, the annoyance melting away. "Yes... he does."
As the warmth of the family's conversation filled their home, elsewhere, in the depths of a shadowy room far from the light, a sinister presence stirred.
A dark, twisted voice broke the silence, dripping with malice. "Aegis... Ahh, yes. His quirk is unique and powerful." The figure smirked in the gloom,"How delicious it would be to get my hands on it."
He chuckled softly, the sound low and menacing. "Just a little longer. I'll wait until my host is ready... and after that, the world will be mine to rule."
The dark room was filled with his sinister laughter as he plotted in the shadows, waiting for his moment to strike.
She raised an eyebrow, clearly enjoying the moment. "Alright, if you say that... then how about Hawks? We've seen plenty of pictures of you two talking."
Itachi's expression shifted to a lighthearted smile. "Hawks? He's like a nuisance sometimes," he said, and the room filled with laughter. "But he's also my best friend. It's thanks to him that I was able to help Lady Nagant and understand her case better. I'm grateful for him. I have a lot of respect for Hawks."
Yumi chuckled. "Well, you should know Hawks told me to ask you those questions!"
Itachi sighed knowingly. "I had a feeling. Hawks loves attention—he's the complete opposite of me." He paused, smiling a little more sincerely. "But he has a big heart."
Yumi grinned, clearly enjoying the interaction. "That's great to hear," she said, before shifting her focus. She then looked at All Might and asked, "What fuels your power, your resolve? Can you share a bit more about your quirk? I'm sure everyone listening is eager to know how someone like you handles the weight of such immense ability."
All Might wiped a bead of sweat from his brow, his smile turning a bit more contemplative. "Ah, my quirk... Well, I've always believed that it's not the quirk itself that matters, but how you choose to use the strength you have. Whether that's physical strength or strength of character, it's what you do with it that really makes a difference. My focus has always been on how I can serve people—quirk or no quirk."
Itachi, listening intently, nodded in agreement. "Well said, All Might. True strength isn't measured by power, but by the choices we make to use it for others." He paused before adding, "'The weight of power is light when carried for the sake of others, but crushing when borne for the sake of oneself.'"
Yumi smiled warmly. "Beautifully said, Aegis."
She then addressed them both. "One last question for both of you: You've always been about the heart behind heroism, not just the power. It's the legacy you leave through your actions. Is that the message you hope the next generation of heroes will carry forward?"
All Might's face softened as he answered, "Absolutely! Heroism is about more than flashy powers or fighting villains. It's about compassion, kindness, and doing what's right, even when it's difficult. That's the legacy I want to leave—not about what I could do with my quirk, but what I could give to others. That's where true strength lies."
Itachi nodded thoughtfully. "I agree. Power fades, but the impact of your actions lives on. The greatest heroes aren't remembered for how strong they were, but for how they made the world a better place." He then added, "'A hero's true legacy isn't the battles they win, but the lives they change.'"
Yumi, visibly moved by their words, smiled warmly. "Beautifully said, both of you. You've certainly left an impression on all of us with that message."
As the cameras rolled to a stop and the director called "Cut," Yumi let out a small sigh of relief, her professional smile giving way to genuine admiration. "Thank you both so much for joining us today," she said warmly, looking at All Might and Itachi.
All Might chuckled, his voice as booming as ever. "Not a problem at all, Young Takahashi. It was a pleasure."
Itachi gave a simple nod in acknowledgment, his expression calm as always, but with a hint of weariness in his eyes.
Yumi, still beaming, hesitated for a moment before speaking again. "Ahh, if you don't mind... could I take a selfie with you both?" Her voice was excited, but polite.
All Might and Itachi exchanged glances before nodding. "Of course," All Might said with his trademark grin. Itachi, though less enthusiastic, nodded again, his stoic demeanor never fading.
With her phone in hand, Yumi quickly moved between them, and together they all smiled for the camera, capturing the moment. "I'm truly honored to meet you both," she said, her voice filled with gratitude.
All Might gave her a thumbs-up, while Itachi offered a small, polite smile. "It's no problem," Itachi responded softly. "Thank you for having us."
As the evening wound down, Itachi glanced at the clock and realized it was time for him to go. "I should take my leave now," he said, bowing slightly to All Might before heading for the exit.
After walking to his car, he slid into the driver's seat and leaned back, letting out a long, tired sigh. "I'm exhausted," he muttered to himself, closing his eyes for a brief moment to gather his thoughts before starting the engine.
As Itachi reached his mansion, the quiet stillness of the night greeted him. He parked his car, stepping out and moving toward the door with a sense of weariness. The night had dragged on longer than he anticipated. As he slowly opened the door, he thought, They're all probably asleep by now. With a gentle sigh, he closed the door behind him quietly, making his way toward his room.
But before he could go further, a familiar voice called his name. "Itachi..."
He turned and saw Yana standing there, her expression a mix of concern and warmth. "You're pretty late," she said softly.
"I know," Itachi responded. "I already mentioned it earlier."
Yana gave him a small smile and shook her head. "I know. But have you eaten something?"
Itachi hesitated, then shook his head. "No."
"Come sit down," she said, gesturing to the table. "You need to eat something."
"It's late," Itachi protested gently.
"Sit," Yana insisted, her tone firm but loving.
With a nod, Itachi obeyed, sitting down as Yana began plating some food for him. She sat across from him, watching quietly as he began to eat.
"I knew you hadn't eaten," Yana said after a moment. "I know you too well."
As Itachi ate, he glanced at her. Yana's gaze was soft but observant, clearly worried for him in her own quiet way.
"Have you met her?" she asked, breaking the silence.
Itachi nodded. "Yes, I have."
Yana's voice softened further. "How is she?"
"She's doing fine," Itachi said, his tone thoughtful. "But... she feels lonely."
Yana nodded slowly. "I understand," she said gently. "Loneliness can weigh on people more than they realize." After a brief pause, she added, "You need to take care of yourself too, Itachi."
Itachi offered her a small, appreciative smile. "I will, Mother."
Yana sighed softly, watching him finish his meal. When he stood up to leave, she stopped him again, her voice tender. "Now go and get some rest."
He nodded. "I will."
As he turned to leave, Yana called after him, "I've arranged for some managers to visit your agency tomorrow. They'll be there to help you."
Itachi paused, looking back at her. "Thank you, Mother," he said, his voice filled with quiet gratitude before heading upstairs to rest.
As he entered his room, he felt the weight of the day lifting slightly. His mother's care, as subtle as it was, always brought him a sense of peace. He undressed, preparing for bed, knowing that tomorrow held more responsibilities—but for now, he could finally close his eyes and rest.
Timeskip 1 year.
One year later, Itachi, now 20, walked calmly through the streets, drawing attention as he often did. People turned their heads, some whispered among themselves, and many approached him, eager for pictures or a quick greeting.
Politely, Itachi responded, "I don't take pictures when I'm on duty… please understand. After work, I'll gladly take some if you'd like." His respectful demeanor and calm voice caused some to blush while others simply nodded in understanding before moving aside.
As he continued down the road, his sharp gaze scanned every detail, constantly aware of his surroundings. Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, he caught sight of a girl running, with a group of people chasing after her. He glanced again, but they were gone, as if they'd vanished into thin air. I know I saw something, he thought. Trusting his instincts, Itachi quietly turned into a nearby alley, moving silently as he pursued the trail.
As Itachi advanced deeper into the alley, the sudden, sharp sound of a scream pierced the silence. His eyes widened, instincts immediately kicking in. He rushed toward the source, his movements swift yet eerily silent, like a shadow passing through the darkness.
When he reached the scene, his gaze fell upon three men in black suits sprawled lifeless on the ground. His sharp eyes quickly honed in on the deep stab wounds marking their bodies, blood still fresh. They had only just been killed. Kneeling beside one of the bodies, Itachi's eyes narrowed, his mind working through every detail. His fingers hovered near the neck of one victim, where a strange, distinct bite mark stood out against the skin.
"A bite mark?" he thought, his brows furrowing in suspicion. Something more was at play here.
Just as the realization hit him, a faint rustle behind him cut through the stillness. Before he could fully react, a knife sliced through the air, hurtling straight toward him. In an instant, Itachi's body moved on reflex, dodging the blade with precise agility, his hand shooting out to catch the wrist of the assailant.
"Who...?" He caught sight of the attacker—a girl, barely more than a teenager, her eyes wild, a sadistic smile tugging at her he observes her he wide his eyes in shock.
The girl before him had inward-tilting yellow eyes with thin slit-like irises, resembling a cat's. Her wide mouth had elongated canines, giving her a vampiric appearance. Pale ash-blonde hair styled into messy buns framed her face, with wild strands sticking out.
She's just a kid... Itachi thought, his grip slightly loosening.
She struggled beneath him, snarling, "Hey! Get off me, you creep!"
He released her, standing up calmly as she scrambled backward, grabbing her knife again and falling into a ready stance. Her eyes gleamed with a dangerous light as she grinned, showing her sharp teeth.
"I don't want to fight you," Itachi said, his voice calm and measured. "But tell me one thing... why did you kill them?"
Her grin widened, taking on a sadistic edge as she answered, "Because they were after me. And also... I'm really hungry." Her voice was almost teasing, but there was something unsettling about it.
"Hungry?" Itachi asked, his eyes narrowing as he pieced it together. "Why were they after you?"
"Why should I tell you that?" she replied, laughing lightly, her tone disturbingly playful. "But I do feel pretty happy. Killing gives me a nice kick... you know?"
Itachi's eyes darkened slightly as he observed her. She was dangerous, no doubt, but also young. Too young. "You shouldn't do this," he said quietly, watching her carefully. "You're still a kid."
Her stance faltered momentarily, and for the first time, a flicker of seriousness passed through her eyes. "You don't know anything…" she said, her voice filled with bitterness. "Stay quiet... and die!" With that, she lunged at him with her knife.
Itachi didn't want to hurt her. In an instant, he activated his Sharingan, casting a simple genjutsu. The girl's movements slowed, and before she could reach him, she collapsed to the ground, falling into a deep sleep. Itachi stared down at her small frame, a sadness settling in his eyes.
She's lost…
With a heavy sigh, he pulled out his phone and contacted the police, giving them the location of the thugs but not saying anything about her. As he waited for them to arrive, he couldn't shake the thought of what had driven her to this point—what kind of world she had been thrust into to turn out like this.
As Itachi stood beside the sleeping girl, a police officer arrived at the scene and surveyed the lifeless bodies. "They're dead," the officer said, glancing at Itachi.
Itachi nodded solemnly, responding, "They were after this kid." The officer looked down at the sleeping girl, understanding the situation.
"Don't worry, sir. I'll take care of this," the policeman assured him. He picked the girl up carefully and said, "I'll take her to the hospital."
Itachi nodded again and watched as they left. He followed them to the hospital to ensure she would be looked after. When they arrived, the doctor examined the girl and remarked, "She's fine, but she needs to eat. She's severely undernourished for her age."
Itachi nodded thoughtfully. "I'll make sure she gets what she needs."
After the check-up, Itachi carried her out and grabbed some food for her, taking her to a high rooftop where it was quiet and open. He set her down gently. After a while, the girl opened her eyes, blinking as she saw Itachi sitting beside her. Her eyes widened in surprise, and she immediately moved back, getting into a defensive stance.
"Don't worry," Itachi said in a calm, soft voice. "I don't want to fight. Sit down. I brought you something to eat." He motioned to a bag of burgers beside him, watching her with an unreadable expression.
The girl eyed the food warily. "What if you added something to it?" she asked, suspicion lacing her voice.
Itachi sighed. "Why would I do that?" he asked patiently.
"I don't know..." she muttered, still not lowering her guard. "There are people who do that. Society is full of scum."
Itachi looked at her, his gaze steady and thoughtful. "I can tell you've had a hard life," he said softly.
Her eyes flashed with anger. "What do you know, huh? What I feel? No one understands me. I grew up faster than everyone else. I just wanted friends, family... love. But I got nothing. All I get is being called a demon."
Itachi's gaze softened, his expression full of sympathy. Seeing this, the girl scowled even more. "Don't look at me like that!" she snapped, frustrated by his concern.
Without a word, Itachi extended the food toward her again. "First, take this. Eat something."
"I'm not hungry," she muttered, though the rumble of her stomach betrayed her. Embarrassed, she snatched the food and moved a bit farther away. Before long, she devoured three burgers, eating so quickly that Itachi couldn't help but smile slightly.
After finishing, she wiped her mouth and turned back to him, her guard still up. "So, what now? You gonna call the police and throw me in jail?"
Itachi shook his head. "You're still a child. I'm not going to turn you in. But how about you tell me something about yourself?"
She glared at him suspiciously. "Why do you even care to hear my story?"
"I might be able to help," he replied, his voice calm and sincere.
Her eyes widened slightly in disbelief. "Help me? You?"
"Yes," Itachi said, his tone unwavering. "I'm a hero, after all. But even if I weren't, I would still want to help you."
She stared at him, trying to figure out if he was being genuine. "Really?" she asked quietly, her voice betraying a sliver of hope.
He nodded, meeting her gaze. "Really."
Himiko's eyes darkened as she listened to Itachi's words. "I don't trust you… or anyone," she muttered, her voice low but defiant. "I know how this goes. You find out about my quirk, and you'll hate me too. Call me a demon, just like everyone else."
Itachi looked at her calmly, his voice steady. "People aren't defined by their powers. It's what they do with those powers that matters."
She narrowed her eyes. "You don't get it. My quirk… it's a villain's quirk."
"Like I said," Itachi replied, "a quirk doesn't make you a villain. Your intentions do."
Himiko paused, staring at him. Then, with a small nod, she hesitated before admitting, "Yeah, I guess… it's like a vampire's quirk, kinda." She glanced away, avoiding his gaze. "I can transform into people… but only after drinking their blood."
Itachi's eyes widened slightly, realizing the gravity of her ability. "You can copy their appearance perfectly?"
She nodded, fidgeting with the hem of her shirt. "Yeah... every little detail. Their voice too. I don't know if I can use their quirks though. I've never tried."
He was silent for a moment, absorbing what she'd told him. Then he offered a gentle smile. "Let's start with introductions. My name is—"
"Aegis," Himiko interrupted. "I know who you are. No. 2 hero, right?"
Itachi nodded, impressed. "And you?"
"I'm Himiko Toga. I'm... well, I was a middle school student." She hesitated again, her voice dropping as she added, "I don't go to school anymore."
Itachi's expression softened. "Why not?"
She looked down, unsure if she should continue, but something in Itachi's calm, understanding presence encouraged her. "For that, I have to tell you… about my past," she muttered. Itachi nodded, giving her the space to speak.
With a deep breath, Himiko began, her voice sounding smaller now, like a child reliving painful memories.
"I was born the eldest daughter in the Toga family. When I was little… I don't know, I guess because of my quirk, I liked blood." Her lips twisted into a sad smile. "I once found a bird, all bloody and dead, and I brought it to my parents. I thought it was pretty, you know?" Her voice faltered, and she clenched her fists. "But they freaked out. They said I killed it. That I was drinking its blood and smiling about it." She laughed bitterly. "But I didn't kill it. I just found it like that."
Itachi listened carefully, his expression empathetic but serious.
"My parents… they were so disgusted. They said I was weird. That I had to stop… being like that. They sent me to quirk counseling, tried to make me 'normal.'" Her voice wavered slightly. "They wanted to fix me."
Itachi's eyes narrowed in thought. He could see the weight of her past in every word she spoke.
"I tried to be good, you know? I really did," Himiko continued, her voice growing quieter. "I acted like the perfect girl, the one everyone wanted me to be. My classmates thought I was cheerful, normal. I even made friends." She let out a sad laugh. "But inside, I still didn't feel right."
Her eyes darkened again as she went on. "One day, I saw this boy at my school. His name was Saito. He'd been in a fight, and he was all bruised and bloody." Her lips curled into a twisted smile, though there was sadness behind it. "I liked him. I wanted to… confess my feelings, but not like everyone else. I wanted to drink his blood."
Itachi's eyes flickered with surprise, but he remained silent, letting her continue.
"I knew I couldn't tell him that. I knew he'd think I was a freak. So I hid it. I hid everything. But it got too much, and one day… I just couldn't control it anymore." Her voice trembled as she spoke. "I attacked him with a box cutter. I... I stuck a straw in his wound and started sucking his blood."
She was trembling now, her fists clenched tightly. "I was crying the whole time. I didn't want to hurt him. I just wanted to feel… close to him."
Itachi's expression was unreadable, but there was a deep sadness in his eyes as he listened to her.
"After that, I ran away. I became a suspect, and everyone found out about what I did. The media showed up at my parents' house, and you know what they said?" She gritted her teeth, her voice bitter. "They said I was always rotten. A lost cause. They called me a demon and cut me off. Just like that. They didn't want anything to do with me."
She fell silent, her chest rising and falling with the weight of her confession. "Since then, I've been hiding. Running. Everyone calls me a murderer, a monster."
Itachi didn't speak for a long moment, allowing her words to sink in. Then, in a calm, steady voice, he said, "You're not a monster, Himiko. You're a person—a person who's been through a lot of pain."
She looked at him, her eyes wide with disbelief. "But... I hurt people. I drank their blood."
"You're not defined by what you've done in the past," Itachi replied gently. "You were trying to understand yourself in a world that didn't accept you. That doesn't make you a villain. It makes you human."
Himiko's lip quivered, as if she wasn't sure whether to cry or lash out.
"I can't change what happened," Itachi continued, his voice low but firm. "But I can help you move forward, if you let me."
Himiko stared at him for a long time, her eyes searching his for any sign of deception. But there was none. All she saw was kindness.
After what felt like forever, she whispered, "You'd really help me?"
Itachi nodded. "I will. You deserve a chance to find your own path, not the one others forced upon you."
Himiko's hardened expression softened, and a glimmer of hope flickered in her teary eyes. She was on the verge of breaking down, and as Itachi looked at her with a gentle smile, he said softly, "You don't have to hide who you are."
Himiko blinked, her tears threatening to fall as she listened.
"As your quirk urges you to drink blood, am I right?" he asked gently.
She nodded, her voice barely above a whisper, "Yes."
Itachi's smile didn't waver. "Well, in my agency, we have a group of tutors who can help you with your studies. And I'll help you control your quirk. Does that sound okay?"
Himiko's eyes widened in surprise. A huge smile broke across her face as she stood up, rushing toward him with tears still streaming down her cheeks. She threw her arms around him, hugging him tightly.
Itachi, still smiling, returned the embrace. "I'll also look into your parents," he said softly.
Himiko pulled back slightly, shaking her head. "That's not going to happen... They're already gone. And a lot of people destroyed my home. There's nothing left."
Itachi's expression became thoughtful, and he quietly mused, Villains are often those who aren't accepted by society. Sometimes, villains are created... by society itself.
He sighed gently before speaking again. "Alright. I'll arrange something for you." He paused, then added, "I can't let you stay alone."
Looking into her eyes, he made a decision. "Toga, you'll need to stay at my agency for a while, if you don't mind."
Himiko smiled faintly, wiping her tears. "It doesn't matter where I stay as long as I have food and a roof over my head. That's more than enough."
Itachi studied her for a moment, seeing a maturity in her far beyond her age. It saddened him. She's had to grow up too fast, he thought.
"Okay then," he said, his voice calm.
Just then, Himiko moved closer, and before he could react, she bit into his shoulder and gently sucked some of his blood. He wicks in pain and She pulled back with a bright, innocent smile on her face. "Your blood is delicious," she said sweetly, her voice light and childlike despite the act.
Itachi looked at her, his expression calm as ever. "Alright, now let's go."
Himiko nodded happily, walking beside him with a noticeable bounce in her step. As she walked, her earlier darkness seemed to lift, replaced by a sense of contentment. Itachi glanced at her, smiling softly as they headed toward his agency, a silent understanding forming between them.
As they walked, Itachi glanced at Himiko, noticing how she was still processing everything. He broke the silence gently. "Next time you feel that urge for blood, you need to try and control it. I know it's hard—really hard—but we'll work on it together." His voice was calm, understanding.
Himiko looked at him, unsure but listening. "But… what if I can't? What if it gets too strong?"
Itachi smiled softly. "I'll help with that too. I'll try to get some blood bottles for you. If the urge becomes too much, you can use those instead. It's not the same as attacking someone, right?"
She blinked, surprised by his offer, and then nodded slowly. "Yeah... I think that could work. Thank you, Aegis."
His smile widened slightly, and he reached out, gently placing a hand on her head. "You're welcome, Toga."
As they neared their destination, Itachi glanced down at her again. "From tomorrow, you'll start schooling at my agency," he said. "We have resources, people who can help you with your quirk and give you a fresh start."
Her eyes widened in surprise. "Schooling... at your agency?" she repeated, still processing what he had just said.
He nodded. "Yes. It's important for you to keep learning, both about yourself and the world. You'll be safe there, and you won't have to hide anymore."
For the first time in a long while, a small, genuine smile crept across Himiko's face. "Okay..." she said softly. "I'll try."
Itachi smiled back at her, the warmth in his eyes reassuring. "Good," he said, walking beside her. "You're on the right path, Toga. One step at a time."
