Warriors of a Feather, Stick Together

The Rarest Shell

=~;~=

He found himself at a loss as he arrived in Zora's domain, the guards all pointed him toward the throne room. He wondered if they knew why he was here, probably not. He closed his eyes breifly before heading to the throne room. He was surprised they allowed him to have an audience with King Dorephan so easily. Was this because he is a rito? Thier security could use an update, if they just let every rito in to see the king.

"Hmm? You are not the usual delivery rito," King Dorephan pointed out as he arrived.

"I am here to speak with Princess Mipha," he replied.

"Ah did Link by chance send you?" King Dorephan asked. He didn't want to lie to the king but if it would grant him an audience with the princess and get him that shell then he would. He nodded but did not explain anything. "I see, she is at the sacred pools spending time with my son Prince Sidon." He nodded, then he made his way out of throne room. He then flew up to the sacred pools where he found two zora, he assumed one was Mipha and the other Sidon. He landed and walked up to the pair, she noticed him first. She stood and greeted him politely.

"Link told me you could help me find a rare shell," he said as he approached. She seemed surprised at this, then a sad look crossed her face before she nodded.

"I can but why is it you are searching for a rare shell?" she asked, looking at him puzzled.

"I want to give it as a gift to someone that I love very much," Munsezo explained. "I just hope that he will accept my feelings, when I give it to him." The last part he said rather quietly, a bit embarrassed by it in fact.

"We have to help him!" Sidon piped up before diving into the water.

"Sidon!" Mipha chided but it was too late. She sighed and smiled before shaking her head. "I can help you get the rarest shell, would you mind keeping an eye on Sidon while go and find it?"

"Sure," he replied. A splash drew their attention, Sidon had surfaced holding up a shell for inspection.

"Is this a rare shell?" he asked his sister.

"It is, but I think I will find him one better," she said. "I need you to keep this.. Rito.."

"Munsezo," he replied, a bit nervously. Was she going out of her way because he had mentioned Link?

"Can you keep Munsezo company while I go and find it?" she asked Sidon.

"Oh course!" He replied pulling himself up out of the water, the zora boy looked like he was all headfin and very little else. She dove into the water and disappeared as Sidon walked over to him.

"Here you can give him this one too!" Sidon said, handing over the shell.

"Thank you," he replied. The boy grinned at him before heading back to the water.

"There are a few more rare shells in here I think," Sidon said. "Sis will be a while, so I'll grab a couple just in case!" the prince then dove back into the water, he wondered where exactly she was going to find the rarest shell. He placed the first shell into his bag, it didn't look like any of the shells that Nysh already had and therefore it was a good candidate. Sidon brought him another shell and he placed that in his bag as well, he did make sure to wrap each one in a cloth to protect it. Sidon managed to get him two more shells after that before sitting next to him and waiting. "She's taking a really long time."

"Mm," Munsezo hmmed, there was nothing he could say to reassure the boy.

"Oh I know, why don't you tell me about Link," Sidon suggested. "I haven't seen him since his last visit, did he do anything fun in Rito village?" He thought a moment, the young zora looked so hopeful that he couldn't help it.

"I suppose.. it could be considered fun," he mentioned, before explaining how Link taught him some new hunting techniques and he taught Link a few things as well. The young prince was super captivated by his story and he couldn't help but smile a bit, as he told every detail that he could recall.

"Amazing, I hope he'll teach me some new hunting techniques," Sidon said, he looked so excited but Munsezo doubted the young zora would find it useful to learn the techniques. Then again he wasn't too familiar with the zora, maybe the hatchling would find a use for such knowledge. A splash caught his attention and he stood as Princess Mipha pulled herself out of the water, he was stunned by what she was carrying. It was an iridescent conch shell, it was bigger and shinier then any shell he had ever seen. Surely this was the shell he needed to give his mate-to-be.

"Nysh will love this," he said, as he accepted the shell. "How far did you have to go for this shell."

"The sea but it was no trouble," she said, that sad expression was back. "I am happy as long as I can help out a friend of Links." He wondered if that were true, she still looked very sad despite her wording. "Oh you should take these with you as well, I caught a few for your journey." He accepted the fish in a bag shaped net or was it netted bag? He wasn't sure but it would come in handy for bringing along the fish, he would smoke them later with some rock salt.

"Thank you for this," he thanked her. He wasn't really sure if he should have troubled her at all, he certainly didn't want to bring up his observations either.

"You should probably begin your journey, unless you wish to remain in the domain until the morning," she said softly.

"Right," he replied. If he left now, he might just make it back to Rito village before nightfall.

"Could you remind Link to come visit sometimes?" Prince Sidon asked. He smiled then nodded before heading back and taking a leap off of the massive wall, that held the waters in the sacred pool. He wondered if he would be as sad as she was if Nysh chose another instead, he probably would. He pushed himself to his limits, he couldn't allow himself to be to lost in his own thoughts during flight. No, he needed to get home as quickly as possible.

He made a stop at a stable to smoke all of the fish with some rock salt, that he had brought along for his trip and once more when he need to rest to eat once again. Each rest was as short as he could afford before flying once again. He didn't allow himself to slow by even a feather, until the stables just outside of his village appeared before him. He smiled, he had made it home just as dark was falling but he wouldn't risk trying to fly into the village. He would walk from the stable as it would be the safer option, he allowed himself a bit of a rest at the stables before heading to Nysh's roost. He smiled as he spotted Nysh busy at work, cooking away before the other noticed him and walked over. Munsezo steeled his reserve before pulling out the shell, Nysh smiled but hesitated.

"Wait, you're.. choosing me?" Nysh asked, finally understaning. He nodded, watching the other male intently. "But.. you could mate with any eligible female in the village."

"I do not want another rito," he replied, softly. He desperatly wanted Nysh to understand, he wanted this stubborn male as his mate but it wasn't his decision. He waited with baited breath, as his beloved rito seemed stunted into silence.

"I-I.. accept your f-feelings," Nysh said, after many moments and accepting the beautiful shell. Munsezo was incredibly happy in that moment, he could finally begin courting his mate-to-be.

"I will see you tomorrow," Munsezo murmured, Nysh nodded with a huge grin as he lightly dusted the beautiful shell. He made his way back to his own roost before eating the last of the rations he had brought back with him. The cold had helped preserve it just as well as the smoking had, keeping it edible for longer than the norm. Tommorrow he would dance and begin the courtship, he smiled before falling asleep.
