Confession

In the quiet town of modern-day Tokyo, the moon hung high in the sky, casting silver light through the curtains of Kagome Higurashi's bedroom. She lay nestled beneath her covers, a peaceful expression on her face, but in the depths of her dreams, her heart held a different story—one filled with a certain half-demon who had captured her thoughts more than she'd like to admit.

Outside by the Goshinboku, Inuyasha stood silently at the base of the Higurashi shrine, gazing up at the one place where he felt most at home. The breeze tousled his silver hair, and the stars twinkled above, but all he could focus on was the longing that gnawed at him. The realization of how deeply he cared for Kagome had been like a jolt of lightning, igniting a warmth within him that he had never experienced before.

He took a deep breath, summoned his courage, and leaped gracefully up to her window, landing silently on the ledge. He pushed the window open carefully, the familiar creak making him wince, but it was too late—he was inside. The room was dimly lit by the moon's glow, illuminating the soft features of Kagome's face. She stirred slightly, and in an instant, his heart raced.

"Inuyasha?" she mumbled, still half-asleep, but her voice brought him back to reality. There was no turning back now.

"Yeah, it's me," he replied softly, his heart pounding in his chest. He stepped inside, the familiar scent of her shampoo enveloping him, making him feel both at ease and wildly restless.

Kagome blinked awake, the sleep fading from her eyes as she processed his presence. "What are you doing here?" she asked, her voice a mix of surprise and warmth. "It's the middle of the night!"

"I know, but I… I needed to see you," he admitted, his eyes locking onto hers. The urgency in his voice conveyed everything he couldn't articulate.

Before she could respond, he moved closer, drawn to her like a magnet. The air thickened with tension, and without thinking, he closed the distance, capturing her lips in a fervent kiss. After only a second of shock, Kagome closed her eyes and allowed herself to melt against him. The kiss escalated, igniting a fire deep within them that had been building ever since they had met.

As they broke apart, breathless and wide-eyed, an unspoken understanding took hold. They were not just companions; they were something deeper, something neither of them had dared to acknowledge until now. "I've wanted to tell you for so long," Kagome whispered, her cheeks flushed.

"Me too," Inuyasha admitted, his voice low and earnest. "I love you, Kagome. I don't want to hide it anymore."

"I love you too, Inuyasha," she replied, her heart swelling with joy. "But… what does this mean for us?"

The half-demon took a step back, searching her eyes for the answer. "It means we fight together, for each other. No more running. No more doubt."

Kagome's heart raced at the weight of his words, and the truth in them left no room for fear. This moment was theirs, a culmination of every battle and every tear shed, of every time they had nearly lost each other. She took his hand, intertwining their fingers, and pulled him closer again.

Inuyasha leaned down, capturing her lips once more, this time with a gentleness that spoke volumes. The kiss deepened, filled with passion and longing, as if they were finally reclaiming all the time spent apart. The world outside faded away, leaving only the two of them floating in their own bubble of love and yearning.

They moved together, guided by a blend of nervousness and eagerness, exploring each other's bodies with reverence. As they finally surrendered to one another, the rhythm of their hearts synchronizing, the night enveloped them, wrapping them in a cocoon of warmth and trust.

In those moments, they became each other's sanctuary, a refuge from the trials they faced. It was the beginning of something new—intimacy that solidified their bond, fraught with the promise of challenges yet to come but faced together.

As the moonlight cast ethereal patterns on their entwined forms, they drifted into a realm beyond the confines of their past battles—a future filled with shared moments, laughter, and unwavering love.

Inuyasha and Kagome knew that together, they would face whatever came next, their hearts forever locked, a bond unbreakable, as bright as the stars that twinkled above on that fateful night.

A/N: Thanks for reading! This was definitely my shortest fiction I've ever written, lol. Don't forget to leave a comment if you enjoyed it!
