Chapter 19

(Open Area-LaPush Forest)

Deja Vu! Deja Vu! Tonya and two teenage girls have gone missing. I stand in the back of the organized search parties amongst teens and adults listening to Sam go over the rules when searching through the forests up front near a forest opening. Paul and his friends are here to assist for the search. His tribal friends know the inside and outside of the forest.

With at least eighty people showing up, they'll hope to cover more ground. If I know what I know, the three girls will not be found. Bzzz! I frown as the sound of a bee swarms near my ears. I choose not to swap my arms. I'm sure Jacob has already told Sam about me. I would especially in a two-day span. "Question?" Sam asks looking around. "Are witches real?" A teenage boy asks raising his hand.

"Do you feel as though that was the reason these young girls went into the forest?" "Just rumors. Just stories." He softly says. Bzzzzz. "Witches are not real. The forest is a very dangerous place to go looking. Charlie, words."

Charlie is the Police Chief of Forks. He goes over a few rules for some minutes. After a while the search party begin, and people migrate into the forest. I look up at the cloudy grey sky. Deja Vu to the finest.

I make my move to walk to my car when Cliff walks over toting a flashlight. We greet each other. "The world is coming to an end." He says looking around the trees. Do I repeat what I spoke or not? I choose not to. "The world is not coming to an end."

"She heard buzzing." "What type of buzzing? In her mind or something?" "In her mind. Sounded like a bee." I look pass him to see Paul heading in our direction. "Claire. Tonya. You might be next, Mary." "I hope not. I haven't been hearing buzzing. Have you?" "No." "Right. I gotta go to my car. Forgot my phone." I touch on my pants. I really did leave my phone in the car.

I walk off to my car. Soon as I reach it, I sit in the driver's seat. Grabbing the water bottle, I drink. Clyde wants me because I'm his singer. As a singer, I can see the future. If Tonya's disappearance is because of him, he's proven that he can get to my parents. He can get to Cliff. He can get to Paul. The car door swings open scaring me. Paul squats down to my height.

"Tonya is missing." "She is." "A vampire?" "I'm starting to believe that it might be some truth to my words." He grabs my arm and slide the left long sleeve up to reveal my bandaged arm. "Sam wants to talk to you." I grab for his face, only for him to grab my hands. "I have a girlfriend." His words cause my words to heart into my chest. "Right. Sorry." I whisper taking my hands back.

Seated on the trunk of my car still in open area, I'm talking to Jacob about Tonya. It's been three hours since the search. From the radius of what has been covered, there is no trace of any of those teenage girls. "Do you think they're still alive?" I ask. The sun is starting to set. Most of everyone has left besides a few. Paul is gone. "I don't know. The temperature of the forest drops. If they are still alive, it is best that they huddle together."

They can be dead. I nervously put my hair behind my ears. "I gotta do something. Get in contact and as-" "A serial killer is a serial killer. There would be no need to keep them alive." "Let's go look for them. We can tag team." "And do what?" Sam asks walking up behind me. I turn to see him and Jared. "Find them. If there is truth to seeing the future as everyone has claimed, I can find them."

This guilt is eating inside of me. It makes me feel disgusting. "Be bait." Jacob tells him. "Be bait! That's a good idea, Sam. Lead him out. The police can arrest him after they have been brutally murdered, Jacob." "Do you want to be a vampire?" "I don't want to be a vampire. I'll get in contac-" "So, you are admitting that you do have contact with him?" "It's complicated."

The warm water from the showerhead pours on my brittle skin. I needed this shower. It's not quite hot nor cold. Washing all over my body, I can't help but imagine Paul's touch. I miss him. I miss him so much. I put my face under the water. I wish it would wash this ache away. I give at least twenty more minutes in the shower until I step out. After drying out of the room, I step out of the bathroom and into the hallway.

"She's been cutting herself. She's depressed. She's not herself." I hear Mom says downstairs in the living room. "She's been through a car crash. She's not going to be the same." Dad, you don't know how much your words are truthful. I walk into my room and close the door behind me. I change into my night clothes and take a seat at my dresser.

Grabbing the calendar, I notice Christmas is two weeks ago. Rather than shopping in stores, I've been ordering gifts online. I even brought Paul a gift. I got him a picture of his Quileute tattoo. I gag as my cellphone rings on my bed. That might be Tonya. I rush over to it and answer it. "Hello." "Mary-Ann Jenkins. This is Alice Cullen."
