Centuries ago, in Raikanrando, there were two lycans who were gifted with special powers from the goddess herself. Powers to heal, bless the land with victories in wars, shape shift into any creature, speak directly to the goddess and most importantly prepare the sacrifice for the peace of the world. They served the King and Queen and the lycans and werewolves and made sure everything flourished in the land as their goddess had commanded them.
The other beings were envious of them. Jealousy clouded their judgement every time they saw them because they were the only ones, in all of Isekai, who possessed such power.
There was a slight problem though. The male, a vibrant redhead was an Omega. According to the hierarchy of lycans and werewolves, Omegas are the lowest in rank. They are spat on and treated like slaves, technically because they are.
But the Omega was not only given special power, he also played an important role in protecting the pack. He'd scour the lands they thread on and made sure it was conducive and beneficial to the pack.
The Supreme Alpha and Luna must've recognised it because they were the only ones who acknowledged his presence. The Supreme Alpha was fond of the Omega and had even allowed his children to play with his own. He partnered him up with the other and called them the Priests. He gifted them a place in the shrine and showed them outstanding respect.
Some of the lords were not happy. Infact, many tried to convince him that trusting an Omega brought calamities and treating him like royalty brought bad luck, but the King was unshakable.
Then, on the day of the third royal child's birth, something happened.
Mikoto was half sleeping in her chambers, tired and in pains, when an horrified maid barged into her room and started wailing.
"The princess is gone."
Mikoto opened her eyes and rose quickly from the bed when she heard that. Her second move was to check the cot beside her bed, where the child she'd just given birth to was supposed to be laying peacefully.
She wasn't there.
Ignoring the aches and throbs all over her body, she got up speedily and walked out of her chambers, shouting at the maids that gathered outside. "Where is she?!" She approached one. "Where is my daughter?!!" The maids could only cower in fright and stuttered as they tried to speak.
Mikoto was feral. Her hair was in a mess and her eyes were wide. She stared at everyone around and shouted maniacally. "Where is MY DAUGHTER?!!"
Guards ran towards her from the other side of the hall. "Supreme Luna."
When they got near, she pulled out one of the guard's sword and swung it around, pointing it at them. "Were you not supposed to watch this door?" She asked lowly.
The guards hung their heads. "Yes, but we were given orders to switch with the new ones."
One of the most foolish things she's hearing today. She narrowed her eyes. "Who gave such orders?"
"One of the priests did, my Lady." The guard stuttered. "T-the Omega."
The Omega?? Mikoto's hand tightened over the blade she was directly holding, ignoring the blood that dripped down. Rasa won't do that.
The maids saw the blood and gasped, rushing forward. "My Lady, your hand!"
"Leave me!" Mikoto flung her hand away before they could touch her, her icy gaze never leaving the guards. "Where is the King?"
"The Supreme Alpha has gone after the perpetrators, my Lady."
"What about Itachi and Sasuke?"
"They're in the west wing of the castle, securely guarded."
She turned around and started walking out of the hallway, with the guards following. "Search the whole castle, they might still be lingering around." Then she added before disappearing from her maids. "And prepare a horse for me."
The colour drained from their faces. "But my Lady..."
She turned her head and shot them a glare. "I said PREPARE a horse for me."
"Y-yes my Lady." They succumbed even though they knew how the Supreme Alpha would react to his mate's choice and deal with them for agreeing when they knew she'd just given birth.
Two nights later, they caught the criminals, but the princess was dead. They had killed the pup even before she could be weaned.
They also found out that the criminals were Omegas. The Supreme Alpha was furious. He had killed them on the spot, and then decided to wipe out all the omegas in the land, including the Omega priest, Rasa.
When the Omega priest heard about what happened from his partner, Masashi, he knew he had to flee. There was no convincing the King, or the Queen because she'd almost lost her daughter on the day of the delivery and if he went to the King's court to plead his innocence, especially before the lords who were against him, he would be beheaded without consideration.
He took his three children and wife and made a break for it. All the Omegas were dead and if going rogue could protect his family, he was ready to give it all. But unfortunately, his life had been marked that day.
Before he knew it, guards were chasing him. He gasped when he saw them behind him. Someone had been watching him. The tension rose and he sped up his lycan speed. Shifting into his beast form was a necessity.
He didn't think, he didn't say anything, he just kept his focus ahead. That was until he heard a scream from behind him just as they were getting close to the border.
His wife's scream.
He turned slowly, only to lay eyes on a dismantled brown limb and a lycan fighting off some guards who'd appeared. She told him to escape with the children while she held them back, and he listened but not without those tears. He controlled himself from going feral so as not to hurt his children, who had just awaken from their slumber but those tears, he couldn't stop them from flowing.
Sasuke wasn't even past the hunting stage as a pup when he'd heard that his sister had been assassinated. He hadn't even seen her face. His mother had locked herself up and mourned for weeks without end and his father had grown more reserved. The Council of elders he kept around him did not help matters too.
He was past the hunting stage when his mother sat him and his brother down to tell them what happened herself. She'd also said that she strongly believed that the Omega, whom she called Rasa, was not the instigator of the crime and had made mention of how he had more powers than Masashi, meaning he could be able to locate the girl in the prophecy even without her activating the seal, but now he's dead. Another thing that bothered him was how and why Shikai Kyuuseki had the power of the priests. Only Selene could grant such powers but why would she give them to a vampire?
He was seated in the hospital room, where Sakura had been brought into, with Gaara, Kankuro, Naruto and Shikamaru. He looked at Gaara. Memories of him and Gaara arguing about something on the grass and a loud Naruto running across the field with a lazy Shikamaru sprawled out on the ground like a starfish and sleeping flashed in his mind.
At the dining hall, Naruto and Shikamaru had to intervene, telling them about the humans gathered around and cautioning them. It was a hassle but they got them to reduce that death glare they were sending each other's way and had taken Sakura to the hospital.
"How did Rasa die?" He asked.
Gaara took his eyes off Sakura and faced the Alpha. "The deadly sins."
Naruto's eyes widened in shock and Shikamaru raised a curious brow, but Sasuke remained unfazed. "What did they want with him?"
Kankuro shrugged. "We don't know that but they had brought their demons with them, so you can be sure that they were too much for one lycan."
"He was in the forest searching for herbs. He treats sick children in the neighbourhood without using his abilities." Gaara added. "They had attacked him there, possessing the human hunters around and killing him."
"I see, they decided to go after one of the priests since he was in the human world." Sasuke turned his attention to his unconscious mate on the hospital bed. "What happened to her?"
"She suffers from a trauma. She lost her parents when she was young. That's all I can tell you because you are her mate." Gaara answered.
"Understood but you don't have my thanks whatsoever."
"Wasn't expecting one."
"Why did you call her your sister?" Naruto asked. "She doesn't have the scent of a Lycan."
"Our father adopted her when she was younger." Kankuro said. "So she's family," he turned to Sasuke, "and just because you're her mate doesn't mean that we'll hand her over to you so easily."
Sasuke's eyes flickered to him. "What's that supposed to mean?"
"Gaara." Shikamaru spoke up. "What were you doing at the University?"
The redhead sighed and leaned back into his chair. "We knew how Sakura would react to the news of our father's death so we had to come. We're holding his funeral tomorrow."
Sasuke's mind became plagued with thoughts. It was rumoured that Rasa had planned his sister's death but his mother firmly believed that he wasn't the one. He didn't know how to feel about it because he hadn't seen his sister's face before she was abducted but seeing his mother cry day and night made him seek for revenge. He still doesn't know how to feel but he wanted to believe his mother.
The door opened and the men turned to see three women standing before them. One was that blonde Sasuke had to face. He thought she was obnoxious. The other was a sandy blonde whom he recognised as Temari while the other was an unfamiliar bluenette.
"Huh? Hinata?" He heard Naruto say.
So, she is his mate. He eyed her suspiciously. He didn't trust her.
"Mate." Two voices resounded in the room and everywhere went silent.
Sasuke looked at Shikamaru and saw him staring at Temari, who was opening and closing her mouth, staring back at him.
They're mates. Sasuke realised. They probably couldn't discern it when they were pups.
"You..you are my mate?" Temari said, eyeing him.
"I could say the same thing." Shikamaru sighed. What is this Goddess Selene? I have a mate bond with ugly legs?
"Na-naruto kun." Hinata said, bowing shyly.
Naruto nodded, utterly shocked from what was happening. "Ano...what are you doing here, Hinata?"
"Ah." She gestured to Sakura's bed and replied softly. "We're Sakura's friends."
"Am I the only one who doesn't know what's going on here?" Someone interrupted and everybody turned to see the blonde giving them questioning looks.
Hinata's eyes went wide and she brought a hand to her mouth. "Ino."
She's not supposed to know anything.
A small whimper was heard and everyone looked towards the hospital bed, realising the pinkette had woken up and was now holding her head.
Sakura's head hurt and her eyes were blurry but she was aware of the diverse colour merges infront of her and the beeping noise beside her. When her dizziness cleared, she noticed the tubes that stuck out from her skin and the people in the room.
She froze as she studied the different faces. Gaara and Kankuro were staring at her, which was strange because she was sure they weren't near her before. Temari was standing next to a man with a pineapple for a haircut. Funny. Hinata was beside an unfamiliar man with yellow spiky hair and blue eyes. Ino had her arms crossed and she looked like she was sizing everyone up. And that Sasuke dude was sitting next to her bed, staring intently at her like a specimen about to be studied in a lab.
Her eyes widened. That Sasuke dude?
That's when she realised that she was in a hospital room.
"Sakura, you're awake!" The girls chorused in happiness as they surrounded her, absent mindedly pushing Sasuke away.
Overwhelmed by the sudden energy of the girls, Sakura stuttered. "What... what are you guys doing here?"
"You passed out." Ino answered, looking relieved. "We're so glad you're okay."
Sakura frowned. "Why did I..." She paused, remembering. She lowered her head, noticing the sting in her tear ducts. "Oh."
Temari dropped a hand on hers and squeezed it as Hinata rubbed her shoulders and Ino wiped the tears that streamed down her face. "We're holding the funeral tomorrow." She said, her voice slow and emotionless.
Sakura tried to control her tears but couldn't. "When?"
"Noon."
At noon, everyone gathered at the Hakaba in Suna, bowing their heads to the picture of Sabaku no Rasa, which stood over his grave, hanging their heads in silence to honour the old man as the Buddhist prayed.
Sakura and the siblings had on black kimonos while the people behind them wore black dresses and suits. Few minutes later and Sakura and her siblings were still thanking the people who had come to honour their father.
When Sakura got to Sasuke and his men, she looked at them in surprise. "Did you know him?"
Sasuke looked away, glancing at the grave. "Hn."
Sakura frowned. What's that? "Hn?"
"Y...yes, we did." She turned to the blonde who'd answered.
"I'm sorry, are you with him?" She asked the two unfamiliar men.
"Yes." The blonde answered again. "We apologize for... him. I'm Naruto." He pointed to the one with the pineapple haircut. "And he's Shikamaru."
"Oh." Sakura nodded before bowing. "Kite kurete arigatou gozaimasu."
"Aha mondai arimasendeshita" Naruto said, waving his hands infront of him.
Few minutes later and Sakura was still before the grave. Her friends and come to stay with her for awhile before joining the siblings.
Sasuke stood behind her and watched her. He'd told his Beta and Gamma to go back to Konoha without him because he had something to discuss with Gaara.
Few minutes later and he saw her nodding, indicating that she was probably dozing off but was fighting it.
Tch. How much longer is she going to keep this up? He moved closer to her, picked her up in bridal style as her eyes finally closed and turned around, only to come face to face with Gaara.
They shared a silent stare down before he spoke up."I'm taking her."
Gaara looked from him to Sakura's face. "You haven't told her?"
"I'm planning to."
"She's still in mourning."
"The sooner I tell her, the better."
Gaara looked away. As much as he wanted to object, he couldn't do anything because they were mates, and it infuriated him. "You don't have my blessing."
"I don't need it." Sasuke answered as he walked past him.
Gaara turned around and faced his back. "You better take care of her."
"Hurting her would be the last thing I do."
Gaara sighed as he watched his back retreat.
You don't know who she is.
...
Hakaba- graveyard.
Kite kurete arigatou gozaimasu- thank you for coming.
Mondai arimasendeshita- there's no problem.
