Chapter 5: First Day of School

"Alright!" Said the teachers of Classes 1-A and 1-B, "Now that you're all introduced, it is time for us to test your abilities. Please head for the locker rooms and change into your school training uniforms so we may test your abilities." All forty students headed for their respective locker rooms and got changed, but as soon as they were outside is when things became…complicated. Neither Creati or Vine had expected that the other would have the same idea, and as a result both classes ended up meeting on the athletic field. "Well now, this is awkward," Creati-sensei said when she saw her fellow teacher. "I do not see a problem here," Vine-sensei said, "I'd say this is a good thing for our students. Creati, why don't we use this as an opportunity to truly push our students to Go Beyond."

Creati had a small smirk on her face as the teachers talked to each other, giving Kaoru and Hana time to find Josuke and Mysa and talk to them. "How's it going so far?" Josuke asked them when they spotted each other. "We got some hybrids in our class," Hana said, referring to those who had two Quirks like Mysa. "Same here," Mysa said, "And a few legacies like us as well. I'm pretty sure one of our boys is Vine-sensei's son." "There's also the Ojiro Twins, Haruno and Haru," Hana pointed Haruno out and Kaoru pointed out Haru. "Yep, this will be interesting for sure…this may be harder than I thought," Josuke said as everyone heard their teachers call them.

Vine-sensei announced, "Alright everyone, Creati-sensei and I have decided that today your physical tests shall also be a competition between classes. Think of it as extra motivation for you to go Plus Ultra, Further Beyond your abilities. You will be competing in a series of tests and use your Quirks to the best of your abilities. Use all of your strengths and imagination to show us your abilities! The Class with the overall best scores shall receive automatic 100's on their first written exams!" Everyone cheered at the thought that they would receive automatic 100's, on their first written exam to boot! Creati then spoke up, "Alright then everyone, your first test shall be throwing a ball," she then showed the ball in question, "This ball here is equipped to measure how far it is thrown. Now, line up, and get ready!"

There was some pushing and shoving, but nothing too serious as everyone got lined up and ready to do their best. By dumb luck, Kaoru was the first one in line. "Here you are," Creati-sensei said as she gave him the ball, "Show us what you can do." Kaoru swallowed, his Quirk would be useless on these tests, but he wanted to give it everything he had. He focused his mind and reached his arm back, raised one leg high, and threw it with all his considerable strength.

A minute later his result came in, and Creati-sensei said, "400.3 meters, well done." By dumb luck, the next student up was Bakugo Nao, and she had a broad smile as she wound back her arm, and from her hand some kind of steel object wrapped around the ball, and then she threw it. The ball didn't seem to go too far, then someone said, "Is that a rocket on the ball?" and then suddenly the rocket went off, and the ball went flying, further and further away, quickly going much further than Kaoru's throw before it puttered out. "I thought you could only make explosives," Samerya Hisa the shark girl said. The rocket then blew up with a soft POP! The daughter of Bakugo Katsuki smiled smugly and said, "Anything is an explosive if you're smart enough. Rockets go boom too." Creati-sensei then announced, "973.6 meters. Very good, there's a lot of potential this year."

More students went by next, everyone getting their turn. Almost no one was able to beat Nao's score, and when Hana tried to use her electricity to make her fast twitch muscles move harder, she only got a sore arm and sent the ball 400.9 meters. As luck would have it, the last two to throw the ball were Mysa and Josuke. Mysa transformed and focused all of her strength into her throw and used her electricity just like Hana had. The ball flew far, and when it finally landed, Creati-sensei said, "974.0 meters!" Mysa smiled smugly at Nao, and the explosive girl looked like she wanted to launch missiles at Mysa, but she didn't do anything. Josuke stepped up and with a loud howl sent the ball flying far. His distance was 767.7 meters.

After this, there were nine more tests to go, and everyone gave it their all as they ran, jumped, or flew the 50-meter dash, tested their grip strength, long jump, repeated side steps, sit-ups, seated toe touches, and a distance run. In most of these physical tests, the Kaminari Quadruplets excelled thanks to their parents' training. By the time the tests were all finished, everyone was sweating hard, and all of the students were anxious to see which class was going to win the competition. After everyone was rested and rehydrated, Vine-sensei and Creati-sensei stood in front of the forty students and Vine-sensei announced, "All of you have more than proven your valor and strength. This year will produce some of the greatest Heroes to ever bless the Earth. However, unfortunately, for the purposes of our competition, only half of you shall be given your reward for your valiant efforts."

Creati-sensei lifted her arms and announced, "The winner of the Quirk Apprehension Test and Competition is: CLASS 1-A!" As she loudly announced this, two banners erupted from her arms to announce the results. The students of Class 1-A erupted into cheers as they pounded each other's backs and congratulated each other. "Automatic 100! Hell Yeah! We did it!" and many cheers of a similar nature were said. Vine-sensei went to her students and patted all her students. "All of you were splendid, truly," she assured Class 1-B, "It was a close competition; however, the truth is, we have lost, this time. Let that fill you with determination, to push yourselves even harder from here on out."

Class 1-B was still sore over losing, but their teacher's words helped make them feel better as they returned to school. After some quick showers, everyone returned to their regular school uniforms and had the rest of their classes for the day. After the competition, everything else just was not as exciting, it was like a normal school after this first lesson. Eventually, lunch came, and all the Hero Course students headed to the cafeteria. The Kaminari Quadruplets found each other and sat down together and were soon joined by their Grandma. "So," Nemuri asked them, "How do you like your first day?"

"It's pretty great so far," Kaoru told her, "Except…it looks like Mysa's already got a rival." Nemuri laughed at this as Mysa elbowed her brother, and said, "Nothing wrong with a healthy rivalry. It gets that youthful blood pumping and pushes one to new heights. When done in a healthy way of course. What about…something more personal, anybody you kids are interested in?" "Oh come on, Grandma, we hardly know anyone," Hana complained. Nemuri nodded, "Yes, but, first impressions are everything as well." Josuke spoke up then, "I think I want to go meet that shark girl from 1-A. She looks kind of cute." Everyone stared at him, and Josuke said, "What?"

Nemuri got a blank look on her face as she pictured what kind of child the union between a person with a shark Quirk and werewolf Quirk might produce, and most of them were…strange to say the least. Josuke just kept on talking after no one spoke up. "What can I say, I prefer a girl who is unique. I've never seen a girl with a shark Quirk before, it could be…interesting," he said, and that was when Mysa spoke up, "Is this related to that comic I caught you reading on your phone?" Josuke quickly turned away and said, "Of course not…and look at that, there she is. Wish me luck fam." Josuke nearly tripped on his cafeteria seat quickly getting up and headed for Samerya Hisa.

Everyone watched as he walked up to her, with Mysa listening intently enough for her to give her siblings and Grandmother a play-by-play. "Well, he's cocksure of himself, as usual. And she seems kind of nervous," Mysa said as they watched him interact with Hisa. She was nervously playing with her hair and was chowing down on a large piece of salmon as he talked to her. Hisa took a large bite of her salmon and talked after swallowing. "She's asking if he's serious about meeting each other, and he's saying they could go swimming in the pool sometime, he says that you might be able to arrange something, Grandma," Mysa informed the family. "Oh brother," Hana sighed as she watched Hisa smile a little at that, showing off her sharp teeth. Josuke's tail was wagging as he headed back to sit down.

"So, how'd it go?" Nemuri asked him. Josuke happily said, "We'll be hanging out this weekend, if you can see that it's open for us, Grandma." Nemuri seemed ot stop and think about it for a moment, and said, "And you're only going for a swim?" Josuke stopped looking smug and said, "Uh, yeah. I mean, I hope we can talk some too, you know, get to know each other better." Nemuri smugly said, "Oh, I know all about that. Very well, I'll see what I can do." Josuke smiled big and got up and hugged her, "Thanks, Grandma," then headed off as the bell rang for the next class. It was an eventful first day for sure.
