Special OVA: Chapter 91 - One Became Two
[Berlin, Germany - One Year After Graduation]
(It has been 12 months and 2 weeks since Gero flew to Germany together with Erika to receive treatments for his brain injury. They have been living together ever since in their own apartment and go to college together everyday. Their morning starts by Gero doing his best to wake Erika up)
"Erika..hey Erika..time to wake up my love.."
"Hmmm..? Five more minutes.."
"You said that 5 minutes ago..come on or else we're going to be late.."
(Erika then slowly sits on the bed while still being covered with a blanket. She looks at Gero with angry eyes for her sleep being interrupted)
"I hate you Bakatora..being a little late wouldn't be so bad.."
"Yes yes..here I made breakfast in bed..let's eat together.."
(As the amazing and delicious scent of the food that Gero made entered Erika's nose her angry face immediately turned into a smile and a blush)
"I love you so much my Bakatora.."
"I love you too my Kommandant.."
"Nyaa~!" Weiss greeted both of them
"We love you too Weiss!" Erika smiled
(Both of them ate peacefully together, got dressed and then eventually headed for the university they are studying in. For safety purposes Gero had enrolled himself under the name of "Tsukasa Gero" using the last name of his previous identity but his real given name. This is to avoid any possibility of Pandora targeting the university and locating him. Nobody else except for Erika and Alonso knows his true identity as the Nishizumi Heir or the White Tiger. Because of this their first year of university life was very peaceful and they are now in their second year of college. They went to school by day and commanded special forces units by night at the command and control center. Walking side by side not worrying about a thing as they arrive at the front gate of their university and they were greeted by two German girls that was their classmates)
"Guten Morgen Erika-sama!" said the girl on the left
"Erika-sama! A great morning to you!" said the girl on the left
"Guten Morgen Ilse! Ingrid!" Erika smiled as she greeted them both
"I'm also here you know.."
"Oh sorry I didn't notice you were here.." Ilse teased
"I'm pretty sure you just ignored me!"
"Erika-sama, why are you always with this old guy? You should hang out with us more often!" Ingrid said
"I'm her boyfriend that's why!"
(These two feisty girls are Ilse and Ingrid the twin daughters of Alonso and also the Kommandants of the German Tankery Team. They knew about Erika since they saw her video during the Joint Senshado Tournament. They were admired by her skills as a Kommandant and have been big fans of her ever since. Both of them are the same age as Alice Shimada who is 15 years old this year and they are geniuses that skipped grades just like her. Not to mention they hate Gero because he is Erika's boyfriend as well)
"I see the twins are giving you hell as always.." a third German girl said behind them
"Beatrisa-senpai! Guten Morgen!" Erika greeted
"Guten Morgen Erika-sama and to you also Gero-san!" Beatrisa greeted
(This third girl is Beatrisa the Vize Kommandant of the German Tankery Team. She's a year above Gero and the rest so she is their senpai)
"Good morning to you too, senpai!"
"Come on you two, stop being so hard on him.." Beatrisa teased
(During this time of day it is still peaceful and was something both Erika and Gero cherished. The schedule of their classes was pretty relaxing and convenient. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday are academic classes and normal subjects while Tuesday and Thursday will be their Tankery Training days. Since both Gero and Erika applied to this University with a Tankery Scholarship they obviously partake in their activities as well under the guidance of Colonel Alonso who is their Instructor)
"Come on ladies and gents! I want to see those legs running, not walking!" Alonso shouted
"We already ran 10 laps Instructor!"
"Then run 10 more! You're not going to last during the tournaments if your stamina can't take it!"
"Why is Papa so strict now?!" Ingrid complained
"It's because of those two over there!" Ilse said
(As they were all desperately running around the course in front of them was Erika and Gero breezing through 10 laps like it was a walk in the park)
"Is this what you call giving it your all?! You all are being left behind by two of our newest members! How disgraceful!" Alonso shouted once more
"I expected nothing less from Erika-sama..but that guy is something else.." Ingrid said
"He keeps on creeping me out..I hate it.." Ilse said
"ILSE! INGRID! STOP THE CHATTER AND RUN!" Alonso shouted
"YES SIR!" both girls replied
(After running another 10 laps everyone was dead tired except for Gero and Erika. As they were taking a break the twins then noticed that Gero had waved goodbye to Erika and looked like he was done with training even though they still haven't trained with the tanks yet)
"Erika-sama, where is he going?" Ilse asked
"Oh he won't be participating in the tank training..but don't worry I'll be joining you as always!" Erika smiled
"Again? Why does he get to slack off every time?!" Ingrid angrily said
"I'm sorry both of you..but there's a perfectly reasonable explanation why he can't join us..I'm really sorry!" Erika pleaded
(The twins saw Erika bow as she apologized and they felt bad seeing her like that)
"Please Erika-sama don't do that! No need to apologize!" Ingrid said
"That's right! We also apologize for saying things like that!" Ilse said
"Thank you both for understanding!" Erika smiled
(As their training continued Gero and Alonso sat up top the observation tower to have a little chat)
"As always your strength never ceases to amaze me sir Gero!" Alonso praised
"Thanks colonel, your team is really solid! I can already see what they can reach after their training!"
"We're still a long way from there unfortunately but having you train here with us gives me a lot of relief."
"Yeah well I still wanted to train with them in tanks but I made a promise to my crew.."
"It is better if you stay away from tanks during this time of your treatment. There's no telling what might happen if you go into that state again.." Alonso worryingly said
"I know..but it's just too hard you know..being away from my crew and from a tank..it just doesn't feel right for me.."
"I understand what you mean sir Gero, trust me I know the feeling..there's nothing I'd like more than to hop into my Leopard and just go in guns blazing in a match..but here I am watching over my cute daughters ride their tanks.."
"Those two are really something..the Terrific Twins of Germany..Ilse and Ingrid.."
"Don't you mean Terrible Twins?" Alonso chuckled
"Yeah that too..after watching and knowing about Erika they are glued to her always!"
"Miss Erika gave those two girls the spark they needed to have heart in tankery once again..for that I am thankful.." Alonso smiled
"Erika is also happy with meeting them and the others so it's not a problem.."
"Are you sure you don't want them to know who you are? I think they'll all be surprised that the great White Tiger is training with them.."
"If they know it'll just create unnecessary rumors and expectations..it's alright for now, there's no need for them to know.."
"As you wish sir Gero.."
"Besides, if they found out I'm responsible for their current training menu, I think your daughters will run me over with their tanks!"
"You have a point."
"Well then I have to get going before I get scolded by my doctor.."
"Of course sir Gero. Have a safe trip and see you again tomorrow!" Alonso smiled
(As both of them said their goodbyes, Ingrid noticed it from down below and grew suspicious of their relationship and decided to confront their father about it)
[Alonso Residence]
"Father! Can we have a word with you?" Ingrid said
"What is it? I hope it's not about me being strict during training this afternoon cause I won't stop being strict with you or the team." Alonso replied
"We don't mind the strictness."
"Then what?"
"It's about that guy that's always glued to Erika-sama!" Ingrid shouted
"Funny, he said the exact same thing about you two being glued to Miss Erika.."
"What's his deal? Why is he on our team?"
"Like I've said before, he applied to the university with a scholarship in tankery so he has every right to join the team." Alonso explained
"Not once have I seen him ride or even get close to a tank! He has only joined us during our stamina training and after that he leaves to who knows where just to slack off!"
"Okay first of all, he has a very good reason why he doesn't ride a tank and that's none of your business. Secondly I can assure you that he is definitely not slacking off. Sir Gero is the last person in this world that I would see slacking off."
"That's pretty hard to believe after seeing you having a lovely chat with him up at the observation tower. Also what is it with you calling him 'sir'?! You're the Instructor so why are you addressing him like that?!"
"It's not about who has the higher authority, it's about respect! He is one of the few people that has earned my respect!" Alonso argued
"Well he hasn't earned mine and Ilse's so that doesn't change our opinion of him. To us he's a nobody and an embarrassment to our way of Tankery!" Ingrid shouted
(Alonso couldn't take it anymore and slammed the desk with his hand making a loud noise. This clearly startled Ingrid for this was the very first time she had seen her father get very angry. Ilse came running to the room after hearing the noise and was worried)
"Hey what's going on?! What's with all the yelling?!" Ilse asked
"You can insult me all you want and question my decisions but I will not tolerate any insults to sir Gero!" Alonso shouted
"This is the first time I have seen you defend a person this much.." Ingrid said
"That man has been through hell and is still going through it as we speak. Even after experiencing different kinds of hardships he never lost his love for Senshado! Take back what you said now!"
"If you want me to take back my insults then help me understand father.."
"Help us understand his situation because clearly you are hiding something.." Ilse added
(Alonso then took a deep breath to calm himself down. He agreed that it was unfair of him to expect his daughters to understand without knowing the truth.)
"Alright..I'll tell you. Not for your sake but for sir Gero's." Alonso said
"That's fine with us." Ilse said
"Whatever you hear from me tonight stays in this room and will never leave this room. If I find out that you told others of this there will be SERIOUS consequences."
(After Alonso warned the twins they quickly sensed a little bit of fear from their father's words)
"I'm also telling you this because you're my daughters and I trust you. So listen carefully because I will never repeat this ever again."
"Tell us father.." Ingrid said
"Oh boy this is going to be a long night.." Alonso said as he rubbed his head in pain
(Alonso then proceeded to tell his daughters about Gero and who he really is. At first Ingrid and Ilse did not believe their father's words until he showed them the videos of the Senshado matches and tournaments that Gero participated in. They were speechless as they saw the person they were always bullying was this strong)
"W-What the hell is this strength?! It's inhuman!" Ingrid reacted
"That's one way of putting it..but hear this my daughter. Out of all creatures in this world of ours, sir Gero is the most humane of all." Alonso said
"The way their tank moves..it's both beautiful and frightening.." Ilse commented
"Sir Gero and his crew are called the White Tiger of Japan.." Alonso smiled
"Why are we just seeing this now?! How come the world hasn't known about him?!" Ilse asked
"That's because sir Gero had all videos and photos of him either deleted or hidden from the world just before he left Japan.." Alonso answered
"Why?"
"Because in two years sir Gero and Ms. Erika will lead Japan's National Senshado Team at the International Tournament. It's called an ace up one's sleeve."
(Both Ingrid and Ilse were shocked by this sudden news because Japan has never participated in the past international tournaments.)
"What? You thought this year's tournament was going to be easy?" Alonso chuckled
"We're going to fight Erika-sama?" Ingrid worryingly said
"Also the White Tiger.." Ilse added
"Don't worry, with the training menu you and the team is going through you should be able to hold your own against sir Gero's team."
"Why do you say that?"
"Because sir Gero is the one that created and devised that training menu for you."
"Ha?! Why would he do that?!" Ingrid angrily shouted
"He's definitely mocking and underestimating us!" Ilse shouted as well
"Oh but that's where you are wrong my daughters. Sir Gero is most definitely not underestimating you."
"So why is he doing all of this?!"
"Sir Gero didn't choose to be born the way he is but he was gifted by the Gods of strength and intelligence. You could say he's one step away from being a Tank Meister and he may even go beyond that as he grows older!"
"No way, so he's the same level as the Conquering Princess?"
"I don't know, but I think he's capable of going head to head with her. I'm sure the princess would want a blood boiling fight since she looked very bored last tournament." Alonso chuckled
"So what? He makes us stronger for his amusement?" Ingrid asked
"No. He has respect for his opponents and always wants a fun and fair fight, that's why he's doing this! Instead of kicking the butts of my prideful daughters to a bloody pulp without any chances of winning he wants you to get stronger and fight him as equals!" Alonso proudly said
(Even though Alonso explained as best as he could to his daughters they still couldn't understand fully Gero's intentions behind his actions)
"I have told you everything I could. The rest I have no right to say." Alonso said
"You still haven't told us why he wouldn't ride a tank!" Ingrid said
"If you still want to know more about sir Gero then you can ask him yourself tomorrow. Go to this place and you'll meet him there."
(Alonso gave Ingrid a piece of paper containing an address where they could meet Gero. The next day they went to the address and were surprised that it led to a hospital)
[Martin Luther Hospital - Berlin, Germany]
"A hospital? Why would we meet him here?" Ingrid wondered
"Let's take a look inside for now." Ilse suggested
(After asking the nurse about a patient named Gero they were guided to a room where certain tests were being done to him. They saw him inside a CT Scanning machine which made them wonder if he had an injury. After sneaking around for a couple of hours and watching Gero get tested numerous times they still don't know what was happening)
"Just how many tests is he going to take?!" Ingrid complained
"Don't worry, that's the last one!" a voice came from behind them
"I see, thank you very much!" Ilse said
"You're welcome!" Erika smiled
"Eh~?" both Ingrid and Ilse reacted
(They were so immersed in watching Gero they didn't notice Erika was already looking at both of them)
"E-E-Erika-sama?!" the twins reacted again
"Shhh! You shouldn't shout here! We're in a hospital!" Erika chuckled
"S-Sorry! We didn't mean to.." Ingrid said
"Alonso-san informed us that you'd be here to ask Gero some questions." Erika said
"Y-Yes, so you already knew.."
(After a few minutes of waiting Gero's tests were done and he was allowed to go home. He met up with Erika and the twins outside the hospital)
"Gero!" Erika called out
"Sorry for the wait Erika.."
"It's fine! How were the tests?"
"Same as always but getting better everyday.."
(Gero then noticed the twins hiding behind Erika)
"You know if you wanted to know more about me you could've just asked."
"Shut up! It's not like we wanted to know more about you!" Ingrid shouted
"Sure you don't, well now that you know who I am. What now?"
"Are you injured? What's with all the tests?" Ilse asked
"Straight to the point huh, well I guess I don't need to sugarcoat it either. I have a brain injury and if I exert too much effort I'm going to die."
(Naturally this shocked the twins for they didn't think it would be that serious)
"W-What do you mean by that?" Ingrid asked
"The blood in my veins is a little special and it gives me the ability to process information a lot better than most humans which puts a strain on my brain. Normally I'd have no problem using it and I'd just get super tired after but in an accident during the Senshado Tournament last year I incurred brain damage."
"An accident? What happened?" Ilse asked
"Col. Alonso didn't tell you everything huh, I guess that's for the best."
"We can't tell you everything now for your own safety but Gero almost died last year, his heart stopped for a few minutes. I thought he was really going to die.." Erika said
"But you saved me, I could never thank you enough for that Erika.."
(The twins didn't ask further about what happened and had one last question for Gero)
"Father said that there was a personal reason why you don't want to ride a tank. Is it because of your injury or something else?" Ilse asked
"The injury is only a small part of it. The main reason is because I left my crew back in Japan. We made a promise to each other that we won't ride a tank unless it was our crew in it."
"That's it?" Ingrid reacted
"I've been through hell with my crew, overcame everything that was thrown at us and I wouldn't fight with anybody else except with them."
(Somehow the twins understood Gero's point since they too have a crew of their own in tankery)
"We have no more questions. Thank you for answering honestly Nishizumi Gero-san." Ingrid bowed
"Please don't change the way you talk to me now that you know who I am, alright? I don't want to make things awkward or anything.."
"Don't worry we don't have any plans on changing!" Ilse smiled
"Then all is good.."
"Alright then let's go and eat somewhere Erika-sama!"
(Ingrid and Ilse quickly jumped onto Erika's arms and hugged her)
"Sounds like a great idea!" Erika smiled
"I have a nice place in mind where we could have lunch!"
"Huh? Who said you were invited?" Ingrid teased
"HEY! I TAKE BACK WHAT I SAID! SHOW ME SOME RESPECT NOW!"
"Too late!" Ilse teased
"GOD I HATE YOU TWINS SO MUCH.."
"For your information, White Tiger of Japan, the feeling is mutual!" Ingrid smiled
[Dortmund, Germany - The Next Day]
(Gero and Erika then visited the Sanctuary in Dortmund where the children they saved a year ago were living peacefully. Also Gero is fulfilling his promise to Kin and is teaching him everything about Senshado. Kin was now driving a Panzer I which they borrowed from Alonso's team and was practicing in a makeshift training course they created)
"Alright Kin, be careful now! If you treat the tank with respect it will also respect you!"
"Yes Aniki!" Kin replied
"Look at him go! That kid's a genius!" Erika said
"Yeah, he learns quickly and has a natural talent for adapting to any situation. The other children are also learning pretty quickly."
"I'm happy for you that you got another disciple and a little brother.." Erika said while hugging Gero from behind
"I've always wanted a little brother, but okaa-chan and the old man won't give me one!"
"I'm sure okaa-sama and otou-sama are trying their best in their own way. It gets harder when we age, you know!"
"So we better start making one at a young age huh?"
"Eh?"
(Erika's face quickly turned bright red as she heard Gero's subtle invite to make a baby. She was embarrassed and happy at the same time so she started hitting Gero gently as she gets flustered)
"W-W-What the hell are you saying Bakatora?!"
"Ow ow ow stop hitting me! You were the one that said you wanted a boy and a girl right?"
"I did but saying it like that is a little.."
"Ahaha sorry my love, I didn't mean to tease you this much but you are just so cute when flustered.."
"Shut up Bakatora.."
(Erika started burying her blushing face on Gero's back in an attempt to hide it. After finishing the training course Kin then parked the Panzer I in front of them)
"How did I do aniki?" Kin asked
"You were great as always! How about we rest and let the other kids have a go?"
"Roger that!"
(Gero, Erika and Kin then sat together while eating some lunch together. While eating, Kin noticed that Gero's expression was brighter and full of joy, For that he was very happy as well seeing him like that)
"Excuse me sir Gero! We need some help over here!" one of the caretakers said
"Alright I'll be there in a second! Be right back you two, enjoy the meal!"
"Ok!" Kin smiled
(After Gero walked away Kin wanted to express his gratitude to Erika)
"Erika nee-chan!"
"Hmm?"
"Thank you very much!"
"Eh? What's with that all of a sudden?"
"Ever since you and Aniki came back here his expression has been a lot better. It's all thanks to you!" Kin said
"Oh please it's not just me! You and the kids here have also brought joy to him!"
"Maybe so but you are the main reason for his joy. At first there was only one person that I'm happy to have met and that was Aniki. Now there's two and that second person is you!"
"Thank you Kin, hearing that means a lot to me." Erika smiled
"You're welcome!"
"Now that you mentioned it, may I ask when did you see Gero sad?"
"It was a year ago, when Aniki and his friends saved us from that mountain."
(Erika immediately knew it was the time Gero left a month before the Finals. There were parts of the operation that wasn't mentioned in their meeting and this was one of them so it made Erika wonder about the other events that night)
"What happened?"
"He looked like he was in so much pain and it was like his heart was going to burst."
"Was he crying?" Erika asked
"That was the weird part! He wasn't crying even though he was in so much pain! Then he brought us kids to a big and beautiful lake just below the mountain. It was the very first time we saw that big of a lake and Aniki let us all play in it!" Kin smiled
"I'm sure he knew that all of you wanted to experience swimming.."
"Do you want to know what Aniki said as he watched us play?"
"What?"
"I wish I could show Erika this lake..he said!"
(Erika then started to get teary eyed as soon as she heard that from Kin.)
"Even after all that had happened that night he was thinking of you the whole time. That gave him the strength he needed to pull through! That was the first time that I heard your name and after that I really wanted to meet you!"
"I see, well it's nice to meet you too Kin-kun!"
"Me too! Oh yeah since we've talked about it, let's ask Aniki if we can go to the lake I mentioned!"
"Eh? Would that be alright?" Erika wondered
"Sounds great!"
(Erika and Kin were startled when Gero suddenly joined in on their conversation)
"Geez don't do that Bakatora! Stop hiding your presence just to scare me!" Erika shouted
"Ahaha! Sorry about that! You two looked like you were having a great conversation so I didn't want to interrupt.."
"Well Aniki? Can we go now?" Kin asked
"Sure!"
"Is it really ok Gero? I mean if it'll make you uncomfortable then.."
"Don't worry Erika, I'll be alright. Also Kin is right. I really want to show you that lake.."
"Then I'll be happy to go.." Erika blushed
(After the agreement the three of them then headed to Berlin where the Teufelssee "Devil's Lake" was so that Gero could show it to Erika. They then arrived without problems to the place and Erika was surprised that there was no mountain)
"I thought this was a mountain?" Erika asked
"It was until we blew it up.."
"Oh..that makes sense.."
(The three of them then walked towards the center of what was once called Devil's Mountain and Erika was surprised to see it was now turned into a garden of flowers, dozens of playgrounds, and there were a lot of people and children playing around)
"Wow..this place looks so amazing!" Erika smiled
"Aniki! I saw my friends over there! Can I go there and play with them?" Kin asked
"Of course! Go ahead and have fun!"
"Thank you Aniki!"
(Kin now ran off to play with his friends leaving Gero and Erika to enjoy their time together)
"After a year of rebuilding this is the result. What was once a mountain known for terrifying supernatural experiences is now a place where you can hear the joy and laughter of children."
"What is it called now?"
"Hügel der Erinnerungen "Hill of Memories" is now what it's called. It is a place where children can have happy and memorable experiences with their families. It is also a place to remember those that we lost that night."
"It's a beautiful name. I'm sure that the kids love what you have done to this place." Erika said
"I really hope so. There is not a day that goes by that I don't pray for them to rest in peace. But that day is still so far away."
"Hey, that's why we're working hard everyday to make that happen right?"
"Right, come on, let me show you the lake that Kin told you about."
(Both of them then took a walk together down the lake while holding hands. The original pathway was dirty and rough but now it is a clean stairway with trees and flowers which was a sight to see. They arrived at the lake and it was as beautiful as Gero saw it a year ago.)
"Here we are! What was once called Devil's Lake is now called See der Seelen!"
"Lake of Souls?" Erika reacted
"Yeah, it was renamed to match the Hill of Memories. In this lake the souls of those that passed away will peacefully cross over into the next life."
(Erika then felt Gero's hands hold hers harder as he got emotional. Being there again made him remember everything that happened that night. Erika felt his sorrow got very emotional as well)
"That night..we learned from Kin that he learned to speak Russian because two kids taught him while they were imprisoned. The next they we found out that those two kids were experimented on and died on the table, then finally cremated like they weren't fucking human!"
"That's so horrible.."
"We couldn't save them in time..I couldn't save them in time.."
"Hey hey..shhh..it's not your fault! You did everything you could here! You saved hundreds of kids and you are still saving them right now as we speak!" Erika said
"It's not enough Erika, not enough.."
"Don't worry my love, because we'll make things right! Mark my words, WE WILL DESTROY PANDORA!"
"I thought I was never going to see you again. I ran out of time and all I could think of was your face. I keep on thinking about what would've happened to everybody if I didn't return that day."
"But you did return Gero, you returned to me alive and that's what's important!"
(Gero then hugged Erika tight for her warmth always calms him down no matter what.)
"Thank you Erika..for everything..I no longer can live without you!"
"Me too Bakatora.."
(After their warm hug Gero's phone started to ring. He then quickly answers it and it was Sergeant Sakurai, a member of RYOBU.)
"Yo Sakurai what's up?"
"I'm sorry for the sudden call, young master! Is Erika-sama with you?" Sakurai asked
"Yes she is."
"Then you might want to put this call on speaker so she could hear."
(Gero then quickly placed the call on loud speaker as told)
"Hello Sakurai-san!" Erika greeted
"Good day to you Erika-sama!"
"You too! What did you want me to hear?" Erika asked
"We found Phantom."
(Those three words were enough to flip a switch onto Gero and Erika's mood. From a very warm and happy feeling into a very serious and motivated one)
"We're on our way.."
[KSK Headquarters - Calw, Baden - Württemberg, Germany]
(Both Erika and Gero then traveled as fast as they could to KSK headquarters to be briefed of Phantom's location. As they entered the war room they were greeted by the military personnel along with Sgt. Sakurai, PFC. Nana, and Colonel Alonso)
"Young master! Erika-sama!" Sakurai greeted
"It's so great to see you both again Gero-sama! Erika-sama!" Nana said
"You too Nana-sana! Sakurai-san!" Erika greeted
"Well that was quick sir Gero!" Alonso said

"As always you have a knack for making amazing speeches.." Alonso chuckled
"It is quite necessary at times in our line of work.."
"So where is he?" Erika asked
