The following day, after school, Andy said, "Rick and Jack want to hang out with you today."
"Not really, I have plans," I said.
I remember I had plans to hang out with the Willis girls after school.
"How about this weekend?" asked Andy.
"That's out for me, too," I said.
"Maybe some other time," said Andy.
"Maybe," I said.
I wasn't going to let him make me late for anything. Kayla was waiting for me.
"Sorry for making you wait," I said.
"No worries. Kaylee can't make it with us anyway. She had to stay after school for a test she missed yesterday from class cycle. She'll meet us at the mall," said Kayla.
"No problem. Jeff's coming down this weekend and Sharon asked me to watch him on Saturday. She and Dad have plans for lunch and movies," I said.
"Oh, good, can we come over? We love seeing him," said Kayla. "We have no one to watch. They have a birthday party."
We were halfway home.
"I'm just collecting the mail," I said.
I collected the mail and went inside to drop it off. I came back out when Kaylee arrived.
"That didn't take long," said Kayla.
"No," said Kaylee.
"Good timing. I just needed to stop by to collect the mail," I said.
"Oh, good," said Kaylee.
"I'm glad I'm here because I haven't seen Dad since moved here," I said
"At least you have us," said Kaylee.
"Thank god for you girls," I said.
"When is he going back to his normal hours?" asked Kayla.
"Monday. We're due for a father-daughter day that day," I said.
"So what was the problem with Andy?" asked Kayla.
"His friends want to hang out with me, but I told him I can't," I said.
"Oh. Are you talking about those jerks?" asked Kayla.
"Yes, why?" I asked.
"They're bad news," said Kayla.
"I didn't hear that part," I said.
"I haven't, either," said Kaylee.
"Dad just met them and he seemed to be fine," I said.
"That's how guys are. They act cool when they meet anyone's parents for the first time," said Kayla.
"I'll just have to keep tabs on them," I said.
"Good idea," agreed Kaylee.
"That explains why Andy acts the way he is," I said.
"Yes," said Kayla.
"I can't stand him anyway. He doesn't respect Dad's rule with no boys in the house when no adults are home," I said.
"I know," said Kayla.
"He wants me to help one of the guys study and I said no. I follow the rules," I said.
"Good for you," said Kaylee.
"Have you told your father about what was going on yet?" asked Kayla.
"I haven't seen him like I said," I said. "But here's a little issue: I was forced to keep quiet."
"Why?" asked Kayla.
"Andy threatened to kill me if I say anything," I said.
"That's crazy. In my opinion, that's not a friendship," said Kaylee.
"Don't forget you have Sharon," said Kaylee.
"True, but I never told her any of the issues before," I said.
"I thought you did," said Kayla.
"No. I was afraid she'd mad at me if I didn't say anything," I said.
"I think she'd be proud of making good choices. She'd be mad at Andy, not you," said Kaylee.
"Same with your dad," said Kaylee.
After we went to a few stores, Kayla said, "Does anyone want to eat in food court for dinner?"
"Sure, I'm in," I said.
We went over to the food court and decided to share a large pizza. That was when Andy and his guy friends spotted us.
"Oh, boy," said Kayla.
"Rick have a favor to ask," said Andy.
"I have Math homework and it's not my best subject, so can you help me?" asked Rick.
"I need to make sure Sharon's home first," I said.
"Why?" asked Rick.
"She's responsible for me and I can not bring any boys in the house if she or Dad aren't home," I said.
I excused myself so I can call Sharon to ask her and luckily, she was fine with it. She had just gotten home after Jeff flew in. After dinner, at home, I helped Rick with Math until he got the hung of it. He stayed until he was done. After he left, I realized I forgot to do my own homework all because of him. It was just Math and English, but I wasn't let him make me miss anything or let my grades go down. To my luck, I was done just before I got ready for bed.
