Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter.

"Boy, I sure love Halloween!" Harry said cheerfully. "There's always lots of fun to have at this time of the year!"

"Yeah," Ron agreed, "and there's lots of treats to eat, too!"

"Don't you ever think of anything other than food, Ronald?" Hermione sighed.

"Hey, if you can't enjoy goodies at this time of the year, when can you?" Ron answered - before shoving into his mouth some of the treats he'd just snagged from the feast in the Great Hall.

"Potter! Weasley! Granger!"

The iconic trio froze upon hearing their last names being burst out. There was no mistaking who was calling to them in that cold tone. Harry, Ron and Hermione reluctantly turned around, their hearts sinking who was heading intently through the school corridor towards them.

"Oh, great," Harry muttered sarcastically. "Here comes trouble..."

"Play it cool, boys," Hermione whispered. "Play it cool."

The tall figure stopped before the young students, standing before them in the moonlight which crept through the nearby windows to reveal he was staring down at then in his ever-icy way.

"And just what do the three of you think you're up to?" Snape demanded.

"We're just making our way through the school, sir," Hermione answered calmly.

"That's not a problem," Harry added, "is it, Professor?"

"It is when you're going through the school wearing such ridiculous outfits!"

Snape pointed at the trio - who had switched their Hogwarts uniforms for Halloween costumes. Harry and Hermione were in flowing dark cloaks with pointed hats on their heads and their wands in their hands - whereas Ron had a furry pink onesie along with headband with a pair of ears and a carrot in place of his wand. With his parents being unable to afford to buy him a decent Halloween costume, he had to make do with the embarrassing one his mother had knitted for him, much his humiliation and his siblings' amusement.

"This is a school for serious wizards and witches, not for the silly caricatures Muggles portray us as which you two are masquerading as..." Snape fixed his hard stare onto Harry and Hermione, stiffly observing their outfits - before directly it sharply at Ron in his bunny costume. "Nor does this school allow vermin..."

Ron's face turned as red as his hair. He felt like he could explode at Snape for the insulting comment he'd made towards him. It was only thanks to the goodies he'd overfilled his mouth with that he couldn't say a word.

"It's Halloween, Professor," Harry pointed out. "This is the time of year for children like us to go around in outfits like this!"

"Then I suggest you take your silly little dressing up game to the Gryffindor Common Room. Don't let me catch you in these corridors in your silly little outfits again. I won't have little troublemakers like yourselves making a mockery of Hogwarts."

With that, Snape swung around, his black hair and cloak wiping through the air. He began to march his way back down the corridor, leaving behind three indignant students.

Harry and Hermione silently exchanged bemused gazes at one another - before Ron swallowed all the treats in his mouth before letting out what he had to say to his friends.

"There's no need for Snape to dress up for Halloween. He's scary enough as he is. Just one look at him is enough to freak anyone out this time for the year."

Snape stopped upon hearing Ron's comment, instantly swinging around to shoot one last fearsome look directly towards the redhead.

"I heard that, Weasley! Five points from Gryffindor!"

"Oh, nice going, Ronald!" Hermione snapped.

"Oh shut up, Hermione," Ron muttered.

Harry said nothing. He said nothing as he led his bickering best friends down the dark corridor. He was eager to get to the common room and join them for the celebrating they were to enjoy at this time of the year.

The Boy Who Lived was determined to have a Happy Halloween - without Snape around to spoil the fun!
