High upon at the icy peak of the central valley in Icecrown Glacier in the arctic wastes of Northrend lies a lone king that sits upon a frozen throne and looks upon the land below. A young mighty king that was once a noble prince of his kingdom and a hero of righteousness but has fallen from grace, and is now nothing but a shadow of his former glory. A king who now holds the powers of darkness and commands the foul living dead to his will. A king who shall unleash all his wrath and evil, and plans to rule over the world. His name is King Arthas Menethil, and his dark reign of terror begins.

After defeating Illidan Stormrage, Arthas made his way to the top of the Frozen Throne and merged himself with his dark master, the Lich King, who is none other than the evil restless soul of the orc Ner'zhul. By putting on the helm of domination where the soul of Ner'zhul has been placed by the demonlord Kil'Jaeden, Arthas and Ner'zhul became one entity that of which Ner'zhul now directly controls the vile soulless and ruthless body of his own champion. Arthas has now become the Lich King himself, and he now intends to proceed on his dark schemes of taking over Azeroth by ending all life and raising them as his eternal undead slaves. Freed from the controls of their former demon masters of the Legion, the Lich King and his undead now stand as the biggest evil threat in Azeroth.

Eight days have passed since Arthas and Ner'zhul merge into one, the Lich King uses his telepathic powers to commune with his powerful agents around the world to command them on carrying out his evil plans. Using his powerful psychic ability, the Lich King showed himself upon a vision and spoke with the Crypt Lord Anub'arak, the Lich Kel'Thuzad who is on the fallen elven kingdom of Quel'thalas ever since Arthas went back to Northrend, and a death knight follower of Arthas called Baron Titus Rivendare who rules over the ruined city of Stratholme. Directly speaking with all of his lieutenants, the Lich King tells them of his dark evil plans and assigns each of them upon a dire mission of waging war, death, and domination against the various enemies of the Undead Scourge.

Lich King: "Hear me, Commanders of the Scourge, my trusted servants! Your master calls to you!"

Kel'Thuzad: "King Arthas! It is you! At long last, you have fulfilled your true destiny, my lord!"

Anub'arak: "Glory to the Lich King, Arthas! Even there, up at the peak, I see you clearly, master!"

Titus: "It has been a long time since we have spoken, my king. Now you have returned to us in all your great powers as the newly reborn and united Lich King. How may I serve you, King Arthas?"

Lich King: "I call upon you, my faithful servants, for a new age has begun for the Scourge! A new age where we shall rule over this world, and bring only death upon all the wretched foolish mortals! No one shall be safe from my wrath, and no one shall be spared from the onslaught of the Scourge!"

Kel'Thuzad: "Command, and we shall obey! What of your plans would you have us do, my king?"

Lich King: "All of our previous wars against our enemies have cost us greatly. We will rebuild our armies of the dead. I will begin by raising the fallen troops of our enemies to be part of the Scourge! Their corpses shall serve me as my undead minions with their hapless souls fed to the Frostmourne. Then, we shall wage war against our old foes once again, and put an end to them once and for all!"

Anub'arak: "A brilliant ploy, master. We shall bolster our armies and strengthen up our stronghold here on Icecrown. Our enemies, Illidan and his lackeys, have fled and are all gone from these lands. Fortunately for us, we can raise the remains of the corpses of the naga and blood elves that we had fought during our war against Illidan, and they will become part of the Scourge to serve your will."

Lich King: "Very well, Anub'arak. Illidan have cost us greatly, but he failed to defeat us! He made a mistake of challenging us. Now, his fallen warriors here shall become my own undead minions!"

Kel'Thuzad: "A glorious victory for you there on Northrend, my king. Unfortunately, many things have changed back here on Lordaeron. A huge civil war had occurred between many of our former warriors. In your absence, that traitorous banshee Sylvanas had surprisingly managed to defeat the three cursed dreadlords and all their armies. Now, she and her rebellious lackeys named themselves the Forsaken, and they have taken over the Capital of Lordaeron, your own rightful land, my king!"

Lick King: "So, Sylvanas had managed to survive once again. Hahaha! She is stronger and cleverer than I thought. And now, she dares to rule over my own kingdom? It is time that I remind her who owns her soul! I created her! I raised her into a banshee to fight for the Scourge. Soon, I shall teach her a harsh lesson for her treachery and defiance! She shall pay and suffer the fury of the Scourge!"

Kel'Thuzad: "Of course, my king. I have been creating a new powerful force that can serve us well in defeating Sylvanas and her rebellious minions. There is no way that they can match our power!"

At that moment, Kel'Thuzad presented to the Lich King, Arthas, the latest terrifying and monstrous undead creation of the Cult of the Damned, the Flesh Beasts. The horrifying undead monsters were created by one of Kel'Thuzad's agents in the cult called Putricide by the means of sewing up many various corpses into a bigger, stronger and more twisted version of an abomination. In addition to the great strength of the new horrid Flesh Beasts, Kel'Thuzad has imbued them terrible foul powers that came from corrupted waters of the Sunwell in Quel'thalas, which had caused the Flesh Beasts to mutate in a more horrible form. The Flesh Beast is more than just mere stronger variation of the abomination for they shall be considered amongst the same ranks of the elite heroes of the Scourge.

Kel'Thuzad: "Behold, my king! I present to you, our new terrible creations, the Flesh Beasts! They are far superior to our abominations. Stronger and more powerful, they will serve you without any question, my king. They shall be of great help to us in leading the Scourge, and conquering all our enemies in your name. They are the symbol of the new terrors that we will unleash upon all living!"

Lich King: "Hahaha! A truly pleasing gift, Kel'Thuzad! With those monsters that you created, we will crush our enemies with ease, and bring death to all that oppose the Scourge! We will begin by retaking my own rightful lands of Lordaeron from Sylvanas! It is time that we put her in her rightful place! Kel'Thuzad, you shall prepare our forces there in besieging Sylvanas and her lackeys in my Capital City! Bring those mighty Flesh Beasts with you, and show them the power of the Scourge!"

Kel'Thuzad: "It shall be done, my king. The rebel fools will not see of what is coming upon them."

Lich King: "And you, my trusted follower, Titus Rivendare. I also command you to join along this upcoming battle against Sylvanas! Summon our forces there in Stratholme, and prepare them war!"

Titus: "It has been a while since I have last been in action, King Arthas. It shall be my pleasure to crush our enemies in your name! I will unleash my armies from this city and lead them to victory!"

Lich King: "Go forth, my servants! You have your tasks to complete! The time of the Scourge has come as my reign over this whole world begins! By my wrath and power, death shall come to all!"

At that moment, the magical psychic vision of the Lich King dissipated as Arthas finally ended his telepathic conversation with his major lieutenants. Having instructed each of them about their task, the Lich King sits upon his Frozen Throne as he plots his domination of the whole of Azeroth. On the other hand, Kel'Thuzad, Baron Rivendare and Anub'arak rally the rest of their undead warriors and prepare them for the next dark move of the Scourge. With their first task of defeating Sylvanas and her Forsaken forces, Kel'Thuzad brings with him the first Flesh Beast that they created, which they had called Gorerot. The Death Knight Baron Rivendare also marshals his undead forces upon the ruined city of Stratholme, and prepares to rendezvous with the rest of Scourge from Quel'thalas led by Kel'Thuzad and Gorerot as they will make their move against the Capital City of Lordaeron.
