The night's luminous eye, casted its silver gaze upon the world, the small balls of fire that were embedded into darkness's cloak shone down onto the landscapes. The clouds rumbled, spewing the contents of its interior as the strikes latched onto the tallest trees, the light splatter of rain coated the overgrown grass. Harry stood behind the treeline, his hair stuck to his forehead as he gazed down at the commotion below. Hundreds of people were walking together, all in a straight line as their hands were roped intricately around their wrists, preventing any possibility of escape. The rope was connected and interlaced with each person being yanked on as they were pulled forward by a dark figure. Several other cloaked figures surrounded the imprisoned group, watching for any signs of attack.

"Harry?" Sirius's muffled voice came from his pocket. He quickly withdrew the mirror and looked into the drenched and damp face of his godfather

"Sirius, are you in position?" Harry asked quietly, still gazing down at the scene

"Yeah, just waiting for Moody's signal" Sirius replied "Tonks are you there?"

"Im here" Tonk said, appearing next to Harry's side

"Stay with Harry" Sirius said firmly "keep him safe, understand?"

"Of course" She replied resolutely

"I'll see you both on the other side" Sirius said, the mirror swam and he was gone. The rush of wind soared through the trees, creating a loud whooshing sound as Harry began to grip his wand tighter. A bright crimson spark shot into the air, a loud bang following in its wake. The effect was instant: the cloaked figures raised their wands as spells from all over the tree lines shot towards them, the hostages instantly darted to the ground. A number of cloaked figures dropped to the ground either stunned or heavily maimed, but still a good twenty rained upright as they returned with their own attacks. Harry quickly showed himself as he sent bludgeoning hex at the back of a lone death eater who sailed through the air and landed on his neck with an almighty crack. The order forgoed their previous hiding places and instead chose to go for an all out assault. Several figures rushed down from the tree line sending non lethal spells, in case a stray one hit the hostages. Harry quickly rushed down from his hiding spot, straying towards different types of cover to remain hidden from view. He now stood only a couple of metres from the closest civilian. An older man rested on his knees, his body bowed as he covered the back of his head with his hands

"Come on, we go-"

"Please don't hurt me!" the older man cried as he curled further into his ball

"Hurt you? No we're rescuing you" Harry said quickly as he cut the ropes of the whimpering man "Take this knife, cut the others loos-" A powerful force crashed into his side and he was sent sprawling through the air and into the trunk of a tree. Stars sparked before his eyes, warm liquid dribbled down the back of his throbbing head as he stared up into the emotionless mask that was the Death eater's face. He raised his wand once more at Harry, who had only just begun to start making sense of things, before he was swiftly stabbed in the neck by the old man from earlier, blood spewed out and splashed the side of Harry's face. He gave the elderly man a quick nod as the last remaining death eaters were quickly taken out and subdued.

"Harry, are you okay?" Tonks asked as she ran over to the fallen boy

"Fine" Harry said rubbing the back of his head

"Im sorry, i got distracted there were two de- your bleeding, here let me take a look" Tonks murmured "Episkey" instant warmth filled Harry as the throbbing pain began to disappear. Harry instantly stood up and began to manoeuvre through the crowd, there were cheers and outright cries of relief as their restraints were cut down.

"Ron! Ron!" Harry called out as he searched the crowd for any signs of the redhead

"He isn't here" Moody's voice came from behind him

"I don't understand, our source said he would be" Harry said desperately as he continued to scan the crowd

"These things don't always pan out the way we want them to" Moody said, several pops filled the atmosphere as Ministry officials apperated in and began to treat the injured and fallen

"No it's not fair" Harry shouted back "Ron!"

"Harry" Sirius soft voice broke through his chaotic thoughts, the older man wrapping him in a gentle hug "its okay, we will find hi-"

"You talking about ginger?" A restrained death eater, called out as he was being moved by an Auror "We certainly had our fun with him… quite the screamer he is, want me to reenact it?"

Harry snapped. He rushed forward, threw himself on the unsuspecting death eater, grasping with his fingers like claws. He found the man's throat, squeezed, and fell to the ground on top of him. He straddled the man's torso and began to rain punch after punch, arms grabbing him from behind, yanking him away from the whimpering man. Blood crusted his knuckles as the muffled shouts of the witnesses reverberated in his mind. Everything went black.

Harry's consciousness was awakened, the hard feel of concrete littering his back and the smell of charred wood filled his nostrils. Slowly one eye opened and then the other. The starry night gazed down upon him, a twinkling star mischievously winking down at the boy. Harry began to sit up groggily, the wind sweeping his hair back revealing his infamous scar.

He stood up, looking up and down the street. It was empty. Harry decided to follow the smoke that arised from the building that sat at the end of the street, the roof of the house was blown off and the shards from the windows were scattered along the garden. The house seemed familiar. He couldn't quite place it.

—-

Harry rolled to his side, clutching his pillow as he tried to burrow back into the land of dreams. The whirring from the roof fan created a comforting sound, only to be ruined later by the creaking of his door. The sound of footsteps entering his room rang in his ears, the weight of an extra person settled at the end of his bed and began to rub his blanket covered legs. He hoped Moody wasn't back from the mission. Harry couldn't help but smirk at the thought

"Finally awake?" Harry opened his crusted eyes, covering them as the morning sun scorched his pupils.

"Time is it?" Harry said his voice raspy from hours of undisturbed sleep

"About twelvish, Sirius is cooking up lunch" Harry's eyes adjusted, his girlfriend sat at the end of his bed, her beautiful blonde hair shined excessively in the sunlight as it manoeuvred through the window. Her bright blue eyes sparkled with delight as she gazed at the boy before her and her plump lips cracked slightly revealing her perfect white teeth. The summer had done her some good, her usual pale skin now supported a healthy tan, expressing her feminine features more so than ever.

"Your here early" Harry said, taking a sip of water that sat beside him on his bedside table

"I couldn't wait… so how did it go?" Daphne asked quickly

"He wasn't there" Harry said morosley as he laid back down once more

"Oh, well that's alright… he will be home soon" Daphne said pulling up the covers and slipping in beside him

"You know if your parents found out you were in bed with me, i have no doubt your dad would kill me before Voldemort even gets a chance"

"That's if he found out… but I have no intention of telling them, do you?" Daphne asked. Harry shook his head quickly

"Good" then she was kissing him, her lips moving desperately against his as he dropped his hands down to her waist and pulled her closer. Each second was like liquid fire being poured down his throat. Harry opened his mouth and deepened the kiss further. She pulled away quickly

"You really need to brush your teeth" Daphne chuckled, pulling away with a grimace

"On it… but this ain't finished" Harry closed the bathroom door, Daphne's laugh coming from the other side. Harry grasped his toothbrush, squeezing a layer of toothpaste onto the bristles and beginning to cleanse his mouth. Two minutes later, Harry spat into the sink and washed his brush before placing it into its holder. He took a quick shower and dressed into casual day-to-day clothes. He opened the door and stepped out into his bedroom. Sirius and Daphne were talking but stopped as soon as they heard the latch on the door unlock and Harry step in.

"What's going on?" Harry asked

"Nothing i was just going over what happened last night" Sirius said

"Oh" Harry said, memories flashed from the night before and his knuckles gave a pang of pain as he took in their bruised form. "Sorry, i hadn't meant to lose control like that"

"It's fine, nobody blames you… besides now we know not to piss you off" Sirius chuckled as Daphne moved over and began to caress his knuckles

"Yeah, its to bad Malfoy wasn't there to see it" Harry smiled at the thought

"Maybe you can… school starts next week" Daphne said softly

"School? I'm not going to Hogwarts… not with Ron out there"

"Your going" Sirius said firmly

"No im no-"

"This isn't up for discussion" Sirius said firmly "How do you expect to get any job in the future without any qualifications"

"Qualifications? Sirius, do you hear yourself? Look around you, everything that's going on and you think the best thing to do is go back to school"

"Yes i do" Sirius said "especially with everything that's going on… this isn't just your war to fight"
"Of course it is," Harry said. "The Prophecy was made about me, remember? Either must die at the hand of the other"

"I do remember" Sirius said, irritation seeping into his voice "But i also remember that the most powerful wizard in the world currently resides as headmaster and has offered to train you during the school year"

"Dumbeldore… offered to train me?"

"Yes… don't you think that your best chance at defeating the Dark Lord is under Dumbledore's tutelage"

"I guess" Harry said "But how can i do th-"

"Harry, trust the order they will bring Ron home" Daphne intervened

"I trust the order" Harry said firmly "i just think my time can be spent better elsewhere"

"Better than preparing for your future? I don't think so" Sirius said "Now eat your eggs before they get cold"

"Fine" Harry mumbled, as he pulled the plate onto his lap and began to slice into the yolk "But any news on Ron, you tell me straight away"

"Of course" Sirius said right away, closing the door behind him "Clothes on!"

Harry chuckled while Daphne blushed a deep crimson red, he quickly finished his breakfast and made his way downstairs, putting on his trainers and stepping outside with Daphne by his side.

"Ready" Harry asked

"Yeah let's go" They set off in a light jog, the breeze causing goosebumps to cascade along their skins as the humid sun caused perspiration. Their panting grew heavier as they passed the park and began to run up the incline of a tall hill.

"Harry, wait stop" Daphne hunched over resting her hands on her knees

"Come on, were so close" Harry stopped, clutching his stitch as he continued to jog on the stop

"Just go on without me" She gasped

"No its fine, we will just have to try beat it tomorrow" Harry quickly fell to the ground, laying on his back as he tried to catch his breath

"I feel dizzy" Daphne said "i hate this!"

"It was your idea to get into better shape" Harry said standing up and outstretching his hand

"I know that" Daphne said testily, taking his hand "doesn't mean i have to enjoy it"

"True" Harry replied "but look how far we've come… we were pretty much dead after five minutes and now look at us"

"I suppose your right" Daphne said as they strolled back to the house, their hands interlocked

—-

"-things have been difficult at home with everything that's happened" Mr Weasley sipped his tea, sitting down in the dining room as Harry and Sirius listened intently "Molly has been going spare, hardly eating or sleeping. She spends most of her time looking at the clock, hoping it switches from mortal peril. She really hoped he was with the others during the raid"

"We all did" Harry mumbled "But we cant give up hope, that's what he wants"

"There's a natural order to things, okay things happen the way they do… we may not know why at the time but there must always be a reason, now i believe that… i've had to believe it" Sirius said "We will get him back Arthur"

"I know" Mr weasley sniffled, taking a long sip from his tea and wiping his glasses with the end of his shirt "I just miss my son"

"Me too" Harry whispered "Excuse me"

he stood up and began to quietly leave the room, closing the door gently behind him. He climbed the stairs quietly and twisted the door knob that led to his bedroom, he got onto his knees and pulled out a small mirror that resided under his bed

"Daphne!" The image began to swim and Daphne's face appeared. She looked to be in a bright room, sitting against what looked like presumably the headboard of her bed, The sound of clanging dishes came from afar

"Harry, what's up?" Daphne asked

"Nothing i just felt like talking to you"

"Oh well that's sweet but its actually not a great time for me" Daphne said distractedly

"Is everything okay?"

"Yeah, it's just my grandparents are staying over and they don't get along with my mum so it's like world war three down here"

"And I'm guessing you're the peace negotiator?"

"Right in one" Daphne said, a loud muffled shout came from the mirror "Okay, i've seriously got to go"

"Okay see you" The mirror swam once again and Harry was left staring at his own reflection. His features looked tired and his hair was tousled, the crescent moon reflected in the background and through the window. He bent over placing the mirror back underneath his bed, his hand sliding against the rough and thick newspaper that had come in the morning. He hesitated before grabbing it and sitting back on his bed.

HARRY POTTER: THE CHOSEN ONE?

Rumours continue to fly about the mysterious recent disturbance at the Ministry of Magic, during which He Who Must Not Be Named was sighted once more. "We're not allowed to talk about it, don't ask me anything," said one agitated Obliviator, who refused to give his name as he left the Ministry last night. Nevertheless, highly placed sources within the Ministry have confirmed that the disturbance centred on the fabled hall of Prophecy. Though the Ministry spokes wizard have hitherto refused to even confirm the existence of such a place, a growing number of the wizarding community believe that the Death Eaters now serving sentences in Azkaban for trespass and attempted theft were attempting to steal a prophecy.

The nature of that prophecy is unknown, although speculation is rife that it concerns Harry Potter, the only person ever known to survive the killing curse, and who is also known to have been at the Ministry at the night in question. Some are going so far as to call Potter the 'chosen one', believing that the Prophecy names him as the only one who will be able to rid us of He Who Must Not Be Named.

Harry folded the paper, chuckling as he threw the paper into the bin. One minute the community despised him and called him a liar, the next they were worshipping him like the next merlin. Sirius gave an especially long laugh when the owl had dropped it in front of his breakfast, much to Harry's dismay. In all honesty Harry was secretly looking forward to returning to school, he hadn't had a second to himself as his constant worry distracted from anything enjoyable. He just wanted it to be like any other school year but he knew without Ron there that it was unlikely.

"Harry, remember were up early tomorrow" Sirius voice came from the otherside of the door "make sure your dressed and have everything packed"

"Okay"

"goodnight"

"Night" Harry said

—-

MInistry cars pulled up the next morning, picking up Harry and Sirius as they made their way down to Kings Cross Station. Two bearded aurors awaited their arrival, giving them a slight nod as they crossed through the barrier, the Hogwarts express coming into plain view.

"Have a good year, dear" Mrs Weasley said her voice quiet as she gave him a gentle hug

"I will… if you need anything just write" Harry said rubbing her back. She gave him a sad smile in return. He gave the order a quick goodbye as the train gave a loud whistle signifying its departure. Harry dragged his luggage down towards the end compartment, Neville staying close behind him as he rambled on about his new wand.

"- it feels a lot easier to control my magic… all these years i just thought i was hopeless, who knew it was my wand that was causing so many problems"

"Well if we had known it was your dad's, we probably would have been able to tell you sooner"

"I might have been able to put up a better fight at the Ministry"

"You already did great, Nev… saved my ass"

They entered the compartment and placed their luggage on the top rack and settled down into the soft chairs. Daphne and Tracey (who looked like she hadn't slept in months) entered the compartment. Daphne quickly kissed Harry, taking her seat next to him and sliding underneath his arm while Tracey gave a quiet greeting to Neville as she sat next to him.

"Where's Hermione?" Daphne asked

"She wrote to me saying she would be in a Prefect meeting, so she won't be joining us for quite a while," Harry said, burying his nose into Daphne's sweet smelling hair. Maybe this year won't be so bad. That didn't mean he wouldn't do anything in his power to save his best friend

—-

The room was unilluminated, the rustic smell of metal permeated the air and the sound of rustling chains echoed down the dungeon

"I must admit, your loyalty to your friends is… admirable" Lord Voldemort said "but it's only a matter of time before you break"

"Your just as mental as Harry said if you think i would turn against them" The frail whisper, came from a gaunt freckled and ginger boy who sat in a dark corner, his wrists and ankles shackled to the wall "But i guess you aren't really known for your sanity"

'Crucio!" Voldemort shrieked, a piercing scream rang through the air as the redhead began twitching repeatedly. Voldemort ended the curse allowing the boy to regain his bearings

"If your just gonna kill me get it over with" Ron gasped out

"Kill you… why would I do that… I have far greater plans for you" Voldmeort releases a high pitched cackle "Your going to help me destroy Harry Potter once and for all"

Arthur notes: I hope you all enjoyed the chapter because I certainly didn't…. This was the hardest chapter I have ever written. I have mapped the story out, I have got the ending and certain climax points but writing so I can reach certain events is going to be tricky so bear with me. I'm tired of getting reviews where the reader doesn't put themselves in Harry's shoes, sure a solution may seem obvious to us but if you're fighting for your life, you're not going to be thinking clearly. So please think before you review and i hope you enjoyed the chapter
