For the second time of the month, Salutations.
I don't know what it is about this October as my mind is teeming with activity even though November is the month for people to write stories/novels.
But in any case, please enjoy the continuation from the last chapter.
I do not own RWBY.
My apologies. I was not expecting guests in my place this soon, so this is the best that I could do, Weiss said.
On the table, there were two cups filled with a dark-colored tea and a plate of small cookies, to Ruby's delight.
Weiss had since changed from her nightgown to a white frilly dress and was sitting across from the silver-eyed fairy.
That's ok, Ruby said. I did come into your house unannounced. So what do you want to ask about?
Right, Ozpin said that you were doing a trial. What kind of trial? Weiss said.
I guess you can call it a rite of passage for all fairies to become recognized as an adult. A fairy comes to the human world and complete good deeds for the people here, Ruby said who was munching on a cookie.
Good deeds? Weiss said, not understanding what the fairy is saying.
Yep. When we finish a good deed, a coin appears and we put it in the bottle that we get, Ruby said who gets up and grabs her bag.
Coin? Weiss said, who looked more confused.
Reaching into her bag, Ruby brings out a clear, glass bottle that was taller than the fairy beside it.
Inside the bottle were silver coins with images unfamiliar to Weiss. It was barely a quarter full.
I see, Weiss said.
Yep. And once we have done a thousand good deeds, we can become an adult, Ruby said, her small frame leaning against the bottle.
A thousand good deeds? Weiss said with surprise in her voice. That sounds….
A lot, I know, right? Ruby said.
Is that how it works? Weiss said, who was less than convinced. Wait, you said come to our world. Does that mean fairies have their own world?
Yeah. Most of us live in what we call the fairy realm and come here for a number of reasons, Ruby said, doing her best to explain. I have only been in this world for a few weeks, so I am still new here and haven't been to every place in the city.
And from the way you were talking to Ozpin, it sounds like you have been to Beacon University? Weiss said.
It was the first place I saw when I came here. It was a huge place and I have never seen so many people, Ruby said, who looked excited. That's right, you said that you were a student there.
Yes, I am studying to earn a degree in Business Administration, Weiss said.
Ohhhhh, sounds like you are going through your own trial, Ruby said.
… You could say that, Weiss said whose expression became melancholy.
So, do you have something that you want? Ruby said, leaning forward.
….I want to live my life through my own strength, Weiss said in a low voice.
But aren't you doing that already? Ruby said, tilting her head.
….It's complicated, Weiss said, averting her eyes from the red fairy.
Is that so? Ruby said, her expression droops slightly before perking up. Well, since we are partners now, I will do my best to help you.
I don't know how you would be able to help me, but the gesture is appreciated, Weiss said with a small smile when her eyes then turn to the clock on the wall. Anyway, it's almost time to go to my classes, so I am going to be out of the apartment for some time. What are you going to do?
Obviously, I am going to look around for anyone who needs help, which will take up most of my day, Ruby said as both of them clear the table.
Then, we can meet again in the evening for dinner and talk some more, Weiss said, putting on her high-heel white shoes and grabbing her bag. Make sure you lock up before you leave.
I will. Have a safe trip, Ruby said, waving at the human as they left the room. Sooner after, Ruby grabs her cloak and bag before going out through the window, closing it behind her.
[Meanwhile]
You seem to be an active person, Blake said.
While helping out with breakfast, Blake notices that the blonde fairy doesn't use magic, but rather move the kitchenware with her own hands. Despite being so small, the fairy was able to lift things much bigger than her.
Of course, I happen to be a hand-on type of person and I like to move my body whenever I can, Yang said, curling one of her arms to show her muscle.
The two was sitting at the table in the kitchen area with Yang literally on the table, eating breakfast.
I can see that, Blake said with a small laugh. So now that we're both comfortable, I wanted to ask a few questions if that's ok.
Ask away, Yang said, wiping her mouth with part of a napkin.
Well, Professor Glynda mentioned some kind of trial. What was she talking about? Blake said.
To give you the short story, all fairies have to do this trial to become adults, where we accomplish a thousand good deeds, Yang said.
Good deeds, as in like helping other people? Blake said, who looked a little confused.
Exactly, Yang said, who gets up and dig into her bag. And every time we finish one, we get a coin like this.
Out of the bag, a clear glass bottle was placed on the table. From what Blake could tell, the bottle was half full with silver coins.
Wow, it looks like you have been busy, Blake said, her chin resting on the table to get a better look of the bottle.
Yep, Yang said, empathizing the p with a 'pop' sound. Also, there is no time limit to finish the trial, so we can take our time in getting it done. Ah, but since we are partners, I am not able to get coins from helping you. But hey, you get a free helping hand.
I see, Blake said before remembering what Yang said earlier. You said something about grim. What is that?
Grim are…, Yang said, whose expression had changed solemnly. Creatures that are born from negative emotions and they are attracted to people who have them. Like fairies, most people can't see Grim, but when they are strong enough, they can cause misfortune and real harm to everyone around them. We fairies have the power to destroy them, so we have been fighting them for a long time.
Oh brothers, Blake said before making another horrifying revelation. And they were in my room last night?
There was a bunch, but I was able to kick their butts, Yang said with a confident smile.
…Thank you, Blake said with a gentle smile.
Still, I can do a lot more when I become an adult. Until I finish the trial, I won't be seen as a grown up, Yang said, referring to her child-like form. We don't even get our last names until we become an adult.
So that's why she called you Miss Yang, Blake said, remembering the way Professor Glynda was speaking to Yang.
Now that we got the big questions done, it's my turn to ask you something, Yang said.
Well, since we are getting to know each other, I don't mind answering some questions, Blake said with a smirk, both of her cat ears twitching.
As you already know what I am doing here, I was wondering if you have anything that you want, a goal or wish that you are working on, Yang said.
What I want… Blake said, pausing before speaking. ..is for Faunus to be treated as equals. So that no one would have suffer injustice just because of what they look like.
Yang whistled. That sounds like a pretty big wish. If you like, you can always ask me to help you out on that. Afterall, fairy magic is pretty handy in a lot of situations. Although there are some things I can't do with magic, what with all the rules that we have.
….I will keep that in mind, Blake said, as it didn't occurred to her about that possibility. And I am sure we can talk more, but my classes are starting in about 30 minutes and I don't want to be late.
Getcha. I am just going to do my own way, so I will be returning here later in the evening, Yang said as she puts on her hat. So let's meet again for dinner then?
That sounds like a good plan, Blake said with a wry smile. And don't forget to stay out of trouble.
Yeah, wouldn't want Miss G on our butts again, Yang said with a huff. You be safe as well, Blake.
After fastening her bag onto her back, the blonde fairy flew out through the opened window that was then closed by the cat faunus before heading out of the building.
[To be Continued]
As with Team RWBY, I have stories of the other RWBY characters that I am hoping to introduce, either as part of the main story or separately.
That being said, it's going to be awhile before I post again on any of my stories as my work schedule is being overhauled, so stay tuned for the next chapter.
Reviews, comments, and suggestions are welcomed. Thank you for reading.
