Ten days have passed since the Lich King assigned his agents to wage war and conquer the nations of Stromgarde and Gilneas, Baron Titus Rivendare and his undead army arrive on the northwestern borders of the Arathi Highlands just across the southern Darrowmere River. The region was where Warchief Thrall and his orcish brethren last resided before they sailed to Kalimdor upon a fleet of stolen ships. It is also the same region of the ruins of Durnholde Keep, the former command center of the orcish internment camps where Thrall grew up as a slave under Aedelas Blackmoore. During the invasion of the Legion and Scourge in Lordaeron, the keep was rebuilt and taken over by troops of Stromgarde to keep watch for the undead that would come from the west and prevent them from invading the Arathi. Arriving at the outskirts of the recently rebuilt Durnholde Keep, Titus and his undead army prepare themselves for battle as they plan to attack and defeat the Stromgarde troops in Durnholde Keep before moving onto the heart of the kingdom of Stromgarde to the far southeast.
Titus: "So we are finally here at the vast open lands of Arathi. Our king commanded that we extend the hold of the Scourge from Lordaeron over to this realm, and we will do so! Like Lordaeron, the Scourge shall also take over these lands, and we shall do so by destroying the nation of Stromgarde! It is time that we once again bring death to the remaining living of this continent as we shall pay a visit to the house of Trollbane and bring their kingdom down! This will be a glorious battle for us! Stromgarde must fall! Their entire lands and their weak people shall be consumed by the Scourge!"
Necromancer: "Lord Titus, our scouts have informed us that there is a force of Stromgarde warriors residing upon the nearby Keep of Durnholde. Apparently, the stronghold had been rebuilt to watch over this region and to prevent any intruder from entering the mainland of Arathi on the southeast."
Titus: "Ah, Durnholde, the former center for the orcish internment prisons. So, they rebuilt the old fortress to protect the pass that leads into the heart of their lands. No matter! They will not stop us from conquering and scourging their kingdom! We shall head to Durnholde Keep and crush all the Stromgarde forces there! Afterwards, we will move on to the southeast and invade their mainland!"
Without having any base or any proper site to build one in the region, Titus leads a strong force of undead warriors that he brought with him all the way from Lordaeron. The Scourge troops of Titus consist of ghouls, plague eruptors, crypt fiends, necromancers, banshees, and obsidian statues. The Scourge forces led by Titus move through the forests and head for the location of Durnholde Keep. Along their way, Titus and his undead troops fought against various groups of neutral hostile beasts in the forests such as gnolls, murlocs, and golems. As the Scourge forces got closer to the Keep of Durnholde, they had encountered a few small groups of outlying Stromgarde scouts from the Keep.
Footman: "What the?! The blasted Undead Scourge are here! Send word to the fortress quickly!"
After easily defeating the small outlying scouts of Stromgarde soldiers, Titus and his undead forces eventually reach the rebuilt Keep of Durnholde. A new human base is built within the fortress, and is being protected by Stromgarde warriors that consist of footmen, knights, dwarven riflemen, and elven priests. The Stromgarde troops in Durnholde are being led by a powerful archmage called as Trelane. Having been warned by one of the scouts, the Stromgarde forces in Durnholde are already aware about the presence of the Scourge on the region. Wasting no moment, Titus leads his undead forces to launch a vicious assault against Durnholde Keep. A fierce war battle occurs as the undead warriors led by Baron Rivendare clash against the Stromgarde troops led by Trelane on Durnholde.
Trelane: "To battle! The wretched undead have finally arrived upon our land! Vanquish them all!"
Titus: "Foolish old wizard! You cannot stop us! The Scourge shall conquer the entire Stromgarde!"
Durnholde Keep is quite huge and is built with strong defenses. The Stromgarde defenders are also huge in numbers. The Stromgarde soldiers are well prepared for a war battle, and they do their best to defend Durnholde and to protect the pass leading to the mainland of Stromgarde. The Archmage Trelane uses his mystical power to fight the undead by casting his Blizzard spell, which calls down shards of freezing sharp ice to batter and rend many foes, and by summoning several hulking Water Elementals to fight for him for a time. The old wizard also exudes his magical Brilliance Aura that enhances his mana energies and all his allied spellcasters around him, particularly the elven priests.
On the other hand, without having a base and any form of reinforcements, the Scourge forces strike hard to push against the tough defenses of the Stromgarde troops in Durnholde. Titus also uses his dark power in battle by casting Death Coil to harm his living foes and by exuding his Unholy Aura. Whenever Titus receives severe harm from his foes, he also casts Death Pact spell, which sacrifices one of his undead servants and turn their unholy life energy to heal himself. Lastly, the death knight casts his most powerful necromantic spell of Animate Dead to bolster his undead forces for a time. As the war battle rages, the Scourge forces slowly gain the upper hand over the Stromgarde troops.
Despite the tough defenses of the Stromgarde troops in Durnholde, the Scourge have the advantage as they are able to bolster their forces in battle. The necromancers can raise fallen troops to skeleton warriors, the banshees can possess the strong enemy soldiers, and Titus has his most powerful spell of Animate Dead. Titus and his undead army manage to defeat the Stromgarde forces despite losing a considerable number of warriors. The Scourge had conquered Durnholde Keep, but they had not slain all their foes. Trelane and several Stromgarde warriors managed to escape when the archmage used his Mass Teleport spell to magically teleport themselves away at the last minute, but that did not matter much to the Scourge forces as they still stand victorious and successful over Durnholde.
Trelane: "Durnholde is lost, men! Hurry, we must head back to the Capital, and warn King Galen!"
Necromancer: "Lord Titus, they escaped! We were late to stop the wizard from teleporting away!"
Titus: "Let it be. It matters little in the long run. There is no other place for them to flee, but to the Capital of Stromgarde, and soon, we shall invade their entire kingdom! Conquering this fortress is a good start! The path to their mainland lays clear! Their pathetic nation will fall to our onslaught!"
