Meanwhile, upon the far southwestern end of the continent of Lordaeron, the lich Kel'Thuzad and the flesh beast Gorerot reach the southernmost borders of the Silverpine Forest. Having built a new undead bastion near a goldmine by the edge of the forests, Kel'Thuzad and Gorerot look upon the high colossal Gilnean stone wall called the Greymane Wall that stands on the south. The great wall is strong and cannot be easily destroyed, and the huge gate is also securely shut. There are a number of guard towers and cannon towers built across the top of the wall, and as well as, multiple dwarven riflemen and mortar teams that vigilantly keep watch for any foe that might go to the massive wall.
In addition to the great defenses of the Greymane Wall, there are also a squadron of dwarven flying machines that are patrolling the skies over the border of the wall. The regions behind the great wall are the Gilnean forest called the Northgate Woods, and just on the west of it is a hillside cliff called the Northern Headlands. There are two large Gilnean bases built behind the wall that stand on each side of the wilderness. The camp at the Northern Headlands is being overseen by a mighty dwarven mountain king called Vanndar Stormpike. With such strong defenses all over the high wall, gaining an open entrance towards the kingdom of Gilneas will prove to be difficult for the Undead Scourge.
Kel'Thuzad: "Ah we are here at last, Gorerot, at the border of Gilneas itself. There, as you can see, stands the great Greymane Wall, the wall that separates their kingdom from the rest of these lands."
Gorerot: "Stone walls very big! Too strong to crush! We not go inside and destroy weak Gilneans."
Kel'Thuzad: "That is nothing to worry about, Gorerot. I have already thought about this before we came here. I have a plan to bring down the wall and shatter the main gates. Even with the firepower of our meat wagons are not enough to destroy the wall, and so we need something more powerful, and these loads of explosives that we pillaged on Lordaeron are exactly what we need for the job."
Gorerot: "Lots of bombs! Big fire explosion! Gate crush to pieces! Huge wall no match to bombs!"
Kel'Thuzad: "Yes, Gorerot. We must eliminate the guardians over the wall first, then we will place the barrels of explosives at the foot of each post near the main gate. That would create an explosion so powerful that can break the wall posts and bring the gate down, granting us the entry to Gilneas."
Within their own base by the edge of the Silverpine Forest, Kel'Thuzad and Gorerot marshal a full army of undead warriors that they will lead in attacking the Gilnean soldiers at the Greymane Wall. The undead army consists of ghouls, plague eruptors, crypt fiends, necromancers, obsidian statues, obsidian destroyers, gargoyles, and meat wagons. The numerous barrels of explosives brought by Kel'Thuzad lies at their base for they shall use them to demolish the wall gates at the right moment. Wasting no time, Kel'Thuzad and Gorerot lead their army of undead warriors to attack the heavily guarded Greymane Wall. A fierce war battle occurs as the Gilnean soldiers on the wall fight against the invading Scourge in defense of the great wall that protects the kingdom of Gilneas on the south.
Rifleman: "The cursed hordes of undead are attacking! Quickly, stand your posts and begin firing! Send word to the base for reinforcements! We must the defend the wall and blast all those undead!"
With such heavy defenses upon the Greymane Wall, the Scourge forces strategize their attacks on an effective synchronization. The undead flyers fight against the squadron of flying machines in a fierce aerial war battle. The range crypt fiends also provide invaluable support to the undead flyers as well as attacking the Gilnean guardians upon the wall. The meat wagons provide siege firepower in destroying the multiple fortified towers built over the great wall. Kel'Thuzad uses his dark spells of Frost Nova to kill some of the wall guardians, and his Death and Decay spell to deteriorate some of the wall towers. The Gilnean army tried to retaliate by briefly opening the main gate and sending some soldiers out from their base behind to fight the undead outside, but the Scourge invaders push their attack hard in a serious manner of killing all the defenders and destroying the Greymane Wall.
Despite having great defenses upon the wall, the Gilnean troops are losing the edge upon the battle. The Scourge forces led by Kel'Thuzad and Gorerot have shown a fierce and effective mass assault despite losing a great number of undead warriors in the tough siege. The Scourge forces eventually gain the overall upper hand as they manage to destroy all the fortified towers and kill the defenders upon the wall. Having finally gaining the perfect moment and opportunity to shatter the main gate, Kel'Thuzad and Gorerot quickly head back to their own base to pick the barrels of explosives and place many of it at the foot of the support posts near the main gate. Upon placing all the bombs by the base of the posts, the Scourge forces stand back and watch as all the explosive barrels blow up. A massive fiery explosion occurs are the loads of bombs detonated altogether that instantly shatters the wall posts, and demolishes the entire main gate and even a large portion of the great stone wall.
Kel'Thuzad: "We finally done it! The wall is broken! Its gate is shattered! The path to the kingdom of Gilneas is open! We are now free to enter their land and conquer their nation for the Lich King!"
Gorerot: "Slay! Rend! Feast on weak Gilneans! We now go inside! We go tear them all to shreds!"
The huge fiery explosion that damaged the massive wall gate had been directly seen and heard by the nearby Gilnean warriors that are based in the Northgate Woods and in the Northern Headlands. The defenders at the borders are all in utter shock and disbelief to see the great wall that has isolated and protected the kingdom for several years is now widely open as a huge portion of wall has been blown up and its main gate has been shattered to pieces. The defenders near the broken wall quickly send word back to the Capital City of Gilneas to inform King Genn Greymane and the other leaders of the attack of the Undead Scourge and the destruction of the Greymane Wall due to the explosion. On the other hand, Kel'Thuzad and Gorerot went back to their own camp by the edge of Silverpine to muster a new army of undead warriors that they will lead in invading the entry border of Gilneas.
Vanndar: "By the Great Titans! Those damned undead have managed to shatter the wall! No! They broke the gates wide open! Send word back to the Capital City and tell the King of everything that happened! We must remain here to defend the borders! We cannot let the undead get into the city!"
After reassembling their undead army, Kel'Thuzad and Gorerot lead their entire Scourge forces to step foot into the land of Gilneas for the first time. Entering through the widely open shattered gate of the Greymane Wall, the Scourge army arrive upon the dark thick forest of the Northgate Woods. Upon entering the northern forested border of Gilneas, the Scourge forces move through the woods towards the first human encampment on the region. Along the way, the undead warriors encounter few groups of neutral hostile beasts lurking in the forest such as kobolds and sasquatches. Not long after, the Scourge forces finally reach the large Gilnean base on the Northgate Woods. The base is built with fortified defense, and is protected by a strong force of Gilnean soldiers. Wasting no time, Kel'Thuzad and Gorerot lead their vast undead army on fiercely attacking the human encampment.
Kel'Thuzad: "Onward! Slay those humans and level their structures in the name of the Lich King!"
A fierce war battle occurs between the Scourge forces and the Gilnean troops on Northgate Woods. The Gilnean forces consist of footmen, knights, riflemen, mortar teams, and flying machines. With the main gates of the Greymane Wall now destroyed, the well prepared Gilnean defenders do their best to defend the border and prevent the Scourge from advancing to their Capital City in the south. The Gilnean forces are putting up a strong defense as they fight hard to defeat the Scourge invaders. However, the Scourge warriors eventually manage to claim the upper hand on the heavy war battle.
The Scourge forces have the advantage due to the strength and powers of Kel'Thuzad and Gorerot. After a while of gruesome war battle, the Scourge eventually break through and defeat the Gilnean army while losing a moderate number of warriors. The Scourge forces have razed the human camp in the Northgate Woods. Upon claiming the victory, Kel'Thuzad and Gorerot rally their remaining undead warriors and move to the west towards the second human camp located at the hillside cliff of Northern Headlands. The Mountain King Vanndar Stormpike oversees the second human camp as it is the last line of defense of the Gilnean soldiers in the northern entry borders of their kingdom.
Moving up the slopes of the western hillside cliff, the Scourge forces fought against few groups of hostile neutral creatures along their way. Moving along the hillside, it did not take long before the Scourge forces finally reach the human encampment at the Northern Headlands. The base is larger and more heavily defended than the previous human base in Northgate Woods. The entire camp is built with fortified towers, and is protected by a great number of Gilnean soldiers that are all ready to fight the undead. Vanndar Stormpike also stands as a strong leader and powerful mountain king. Kel'Thuzad and Gorerot lead their undead forces in an aggressive assault against the Gilnean base.
Vanndar: "Those rotting undead bastards are here! To arms, warriors! Let us run them all through!"
Kel'Thuzad: "Come forth, warriors of the Scourge! Slaughter them all! Leave no one standing!"
Gorerot: "Rend and tear weak Gilneans! Rip them all to pieces! Kill and feast on meat!"
Another heavy war battle occurs between the Scourge forces and all the remaining Gilnean soldiers in the northern region of the kingdom. Vanndar uses his deadly battle powers in fighting the undead by hurling his hammer so hard and unleashing it as a powerful Storm Bolt that severely harms and stuns any foe, and by also using impactful Thunder Clap upon viciously slamming the ground and unleashing destructive shockwaves to harm and daze any foe around him. The Mountain King also sometimes strikes with such fury of Bash technique that could crush and stun any of his foe. Lastly, Vanndar uses his most powerful skill of Avatar to grow in size and strength with physical attributes of carved stone, which makes him impervious to all magic and have a greater durability for a time.
The Gilnean forces are giving a very strong defense. However, the undead warriors are determined to win the battle as they press their attack hard to destroy the Gilnean defenders. The Scourge still have the upper hand due to the strength and powers of both Kel'Thuzad and Gorerot. After a while of relentless war battle, the Scourge succeed in defeating the Gilneans despite losing a considerable number of undead warriors. All of the Gilnean defenders are killed, and their camp on the Northern Headlands is destroyed. Vanndar Stormpike was slain by Gorerot during the battle. Upon claiming the second victory, the Scourge successfully defeated all the Gilnean forces on the northern border of the kingdom. Kel'Thuzad and Gorerot plot their next move to invade the Capital City of Gilneas.
Kel'Thuzad: "At last, victory is ours, Gorerot! We succeeded on breaking through the defenses of their great wall and crushing their entire forces on this region. After everything that they put us all through, we have entered, and conquered the northern borders of Gilneas. Our king shall be pleased in knowing our success here. This is a good start for the Scourge as we conquer their whole nation."
Gorerot: "Gorerot still hunger! Not enough! Must tear more meat! We must crush more Gilneans!"
Kel'Thuzad: "Indeed, you shall, Gorerot. This is only the beginning. Our invasion is far from over. It is time that we move on to the next step. We shall now head for the south towards the Capital of Gilneas itself. There, we will conquer the very heart of their kingdom and bring their nation down."
