Two days had passed since Baron Rivendare and his undead forces attacked Durnholde Keep, they have finally reached the heart of the Stromgarde realm, which is mainland of the Arathi Highlands. They had built a new base near a goldmine at a central canyon on the northern area of the mainland. The entire region is a vast land of rolling green hills filled with lush pine trees. The terrains of the region are fertile, and there are several surrounding farmsteads that serve as the sources of food to the entire nation of Stromgarde. The ranches are being protected by groups of Stromgarde warriors.

There is also a large and heavily fortified human town in the east that it is being watch over by the old veteran paladin from Lordaeron, Saidan Dathrohan, and by the archmage, Trelane, that escaped from Durnholde Keep. Due to the news brought by Trelane and the other troops that survived from the assault of Titus and his undead forces in Durnholde, the entire Stromgarde populace are already aware of the Scourge presence on their land. Saidan and Trelane have prepared all their soldiers in fighting the undead with their full might as they vow to protect the people and lands of Stromgarde.

Baron Titus Rivendare is making his strategical plan of leading his undead warriors to conquer the region when all of a sudden, an old former foe turned to ally unexpectedly arrives at the scene. All of a sudden, a demonic shimmering portal appears on the undead base of Titus, and coming out of it is the dreadlord Varimathras. After aiding the Scourge in the defeat and capture of Sylvanas, the dreadlord returns at the scene to aid the Scourge once more, and this time, on invading the kingdom of Stromgarde, and to take his rightful reward that was guaranteed to him by Arthas, the Lich King.

Titus: "We are finally here on the vast mainland of Stromgarde. Here lies the various local villages where the bulk of the Stromgarde populace reside. Once we take over of this region, we can finally move against their Capital City on the far south and invade their whole kingdom for the Lich King! Based on the report of our scouts, there are several farming villages all around the region, and each ranch is being protected by Stromgarde warriors. There is also a large garrison that lies somewhere in the east. Well, invading this region will surely be a great challenge and give us a glorious battle!"

Varimathras: "Then it seems you will be needing extra help on taking over this land, death knight."

Titus: "Varimathras? It has been a while. What an unexpected surprise for you to come, dreadlord."

Varimathras: "I have come in behalf of your master for I shall aid you in crushing this entire nation. Consider it as part of my deal with your master. As a reward for my help on defeating and capturing Sylvanas, Arthas told me that he will grant me the lordship over Stromgarde once the Scourge take over the kingdom. So, I graciously accepted his offer and deemed it as suitable to one such as me."

Titus: "I see. So, this is what our master promised you as your award. Very well then, I shall accept your aid in conquering this kingdom, dreadlord. My quest here is to invade and destroy Stromgarde just as Kel'Thuzad and Gorerot are also assaulting Gilneas even as we speak. Given that he granted you the lordship over these lands, we will fight against our common foes and bring them all down."

Varimathras: "Right. I love it when a plan comes together. Now, let us begin taking over this land."

Given the new unholy alliance of Baron Rivendare and Varimathras, they assemble a vast army of undead warriors within their own base. The undead army consists of ghouls, plague eruptors, crypt fiends, necromancers, banshees, gargoyles, obsidian statues, and obsidian destroyers. Varimathras and Titus lead their undead army to move out of their base, and head towards one of the farmsteads on the region. The first farming village is called Northfold Manor, which is located on the west of their camp. The ranch is quite vast, and a small military outpost is built near the farmstead to serve as protection for the local farmers. On the recent times, the Northfold Manor has been attacked by ruthless bandits that aim to take the ranch, but the Stromgarde troops successfully repel the bandits.

Moving to the west, the Scourge warriors led by Varimathras and Titus encounter groups of neutral hostile ogres and forest trolls. The ogres in the region are from the Boulderfist Clan, and the forest trolls in the region belong to the Witherbark Tribe. After making a short work on the ogres and the forest trolls, the undead forces eventually reach the Northfold Manor. Upon arriving at the farming village, Varimathras and Titus discover that the ranch is being under attack by a group of renegade bandits. The Stromgarde troops are fighting the outlaws to protect the farmstead. Varimathras and Titus see an opportunity to easily invade the farmstead with the Stromgarde forces preoccupied on fighting the bandits. Wasting no time, the Scourge army launch a fierce attack on Northfold Manor.

Bandit: "Say your prayers! We shall sack the town!"

Footman: "Bandits! Stand and fight, men!"

Farmer: "The dead had come to the village! Save us!"

Knight: "The blasted undead have arrived! Destroy all the enemies! For the king!"

The soldiers of Stromgarde and the renegade outlaws cease fighting one another, and directed both their attentions to the Scourge forces led by Varimathras and Titus. A fierce war battle occurs as a three-way fight with the undead warriors facing the Stromgarde soldiers and the bandits. The local farmers on the village also took up arms as simple militias to give support to the Stromgarde forces. However, despite the efforts of the Stromgarde troops and the outlaws, both mortal forces are still no match against the full Scourge army led by Varimathras and Titus. After a short yet fierce battle, the undead army eventually defeat both the Stromgarde troops and the bandits while losing only a light number of warriors. The entire farming village of Northfold Manor has been razed and burned to the ground. Varimathras and Titus lead their undead forces to find the bandit hideout and destroy the rest of the outlaws before they move on to the other ranches at the far eastern area of the region.

Falconcrest: "Ambush! Get them, boys! Slaughter them all!"

The den of the bandits is not far from Northfold Manor. The outlaws are being led by a bandit lord called Lord Falconcrest. Wasting no time, the Scourge forces attack the hideout of the bandits. The outlaws hold several precious items and valuable resources in their camp, which they had somehow managed to stole. The bandits are less in strength and numbers compare to the Stromgarde soldiers. The outlaws prove to be no match against the undead army as they fell quickly in just a short battle. The Scourge forces decimated the bandit den, and Lord Falconcrest was killed by Titus through a deadly bolt of Death Coil. After crushing the outlaws, Varimathras and Titus claim all the precious items and resources that the bandits had stolen. Upon finally dealing with the outlaws, Varimathras and Titus lead their undead army to move due east towards the other farming villages on the region.

Varimathras and Titus made a short stop at their own base to marshal some undead reinforcements. After reassembling their undead army, the dreadlord and the death knight lead their forces towards the eastern route. The Scourge army eventually reach the second farming town on the region called Dabyrie's Farmstead. Like Northfold Manor, Dabyrie's Farmstead is huge ranch where the farmers that work for the rich Dabyrie family grow food to the kingdom. The Dabyrie brothers: Fardel and Marcel, watch over the farm operations. The ranch is also being protected by the Stromgarde forces with a military outpost built near it. Wasting no time, both Varimathras and Titus lead their undead army to launch their full assault against Dabyrie's Farmstead. A fierce battle occurs as the Dabyrie brothers call upon the Stromgarde troops and even the farmers to fight against the invading undead.

Fardel: "The vile undead forces have arrived! Guards, we need help! Let us drive them out!"

Marcel: "Arm yourselves, men! We must not let the vile dead claim and corrupt our lands!"

Just like in Northfold Manor, the local farmers armed themselves with simple weapons and shields, and turn into fighting militias. The Dabyrie brothers equipped their sword and armor, and become well fighting warriors. The Stromgarde troops bravely battle against the vast undead forces despite being outnumbered. However, just like on Northfold Manor, the Stromgarde forces are overwhelm by the entire Scourge army led by Varimathras and Titus. After a short yet fierce battle, the undead army eventually defeat the Stromgarde warriors and raze the entire ranch whilst losing only several numbers of warriors. Fardel and Marcel were killed during the battle by Varimathras with his Rain of Fire spell. The entire farming village of Dabyrie's Farmstead has been burned and corrupted by the undead. After conquering Dabyrie's Farmstead, Varimathras and Titus lead their undead forces to the south towards the ranch of the Go'Shek Farm, which is the last farming village on the region.

Heading due south, it did not take long until the Scourge forces reach the Go'Shek Farm. Like the other ranches, the Go'Shek Farm is quite vast and a military outpost is built near it. The Stromgarde troops are protecting the local farmers that are tirelessly working the fields. A soldier captain called Field Marshal Oslight leads the soldiers in the defense of the third farming village. The Stromgarde troops vigilantly protects the ranch from the den of the trolls and the ogres that lies to the south of the farmstead. Arriving at the last ranch, Varimathras and Titus lead their undead warriors to attack the Go'Shek Farm. Once more, a fierce battle occurs as the Stromgarde warriors fight the invading undead forces. Like in the previous farming villages, the local farmers cease their farming and take up arms as fighting militias to support the Stromgarde soldiers in the defense of the Go'Shek Farm.

Oslight: "We shall fight for Stromgarde, for King Trollbane! Get your swords, brothers!"

The Stromgarde forces fight hard in defense of the last farming village. However, the undead army has the advantage due to their numbers as well as the combined strength and powers of Varimathras and Titus. Like in the previous farmsteads, the Stromgarde forces in Go'Shek Farm are overwhelm by the entire Scourge forces. After another short and fierce battle, the undead eventually defeat the Stromgarde troops and burn the Go'Shek Farm while losing only several numbers of warriors. The captain, Field Marshal Oslight, was slain in battle by Titus by his bolt of Death Coil. With Go'Shek Farm now razed and corrupted by the Scourge, all of the farming villages on the region have fallen. The only remaining defense of the Stromgarde forces in the region is the large fortified base in the northeast called Hammerfall. The huge town is heavily protected by numerous Stromgarde soldiers led by Saidan and Trelane. However, Varimathras and Titus decide to lead their undead army upon the south to crush the villages of the ogres and the forest trolls first before heading for Hammerfall. Moving onto the south, the Scourge forces eventually arrive at the mound of the Boulderfist ogres.

Kor'gresh: "Me smash you! Ogres crush all of weak undead!"

The leader of the Boulderfist ogres in the region is called Kor'gresh Coldrage, which is a physically strong and powerful ogre mage. The Scourge forces fiercely attack the ogre den as Kor'gresh leads his ogre clan to fight back against the undead warriors. After a short and vicious battle, the Scourge forces had destroyed the Boulderfist ogres with Titus killing Kor'gresh by a bolt of his Death Coil spell. After defeating the ogres and claiming the treasures that they hoarded in their lair, the undead army move to the east towards the forest troll village. It did not take long before the Scourge forces reach the village of the Witherbark forest trolls, which is situated near the small southeastern lake. Just like with the ogre den, the undead forces launch a fierce assault against the Witherbark village.

Ojin'ba: "Undead heads will roll! We kill you! Vengeance for Zul'jin!"

The chiefess of the Witherbark forest trolls in the region is called Ojin'ba, which is a cunning and powerful witch doctor. A vicious battle occurs as the Scourge army battle against the hostile forest trolls of the Witherbark tribe. However, just like the Boulderfist ogres, the Witherbark forest trolls are overwhelm by the large numbers of the undead. After a short and intense battle, the forest trolls fall to the Scourge with Varimathras killing Ojin'ba by his Rain of Fire spell. After destroying the Witherbark forest trolls and decimating their village, Varimathras and Titus claim whatever useful artifacts they found in the ruined troll lair, and reassemble their undead army. With the destruction of the Boulderfist ogres and the Witherbark forest trolls upon the region, the Scourge army proceed to finally move on to the northeastern route towards the large fortified human town of Hammerfall.

Heading for the northeast, the Scourge forces eventually reach the large town camp of Hammerfall. The human base is built with many defensive towers and fortified structures, and is being defended by a huge number of Stromgarde soldiers that consist of footmen, knights, dwarven riflemen, elven priests, and dwarven gryphon riders. The archmage Trelane and the paladin Saidan vigilantly keep watch of the security of Hammerfall. Having already heard about the attacks of the Scourge on the various farming villages in the region, Trelane and Saidan strengthen up the defenses in their town. As the undead forces arrive right outside of Hammerfall, Trelane and Saidan come forth to confront Varimathras and Titus in the open. Upon seeing Saidan Dathrohan, Titus recalls him as one of first paladins of the Silver Hand alongside other known old heroic paladins such as Uther and Turalyon.

Varimathras: "We finally we made it to their main camp. I grew tired of toying with mere farmers!"

Titus: "Yes! A worthy battle that will bring the Scourge glory! Razing this huge town will be fun!"

Trelane: "You foul wretches have done enough damage! You shall all pay for ravaging these lands! My brethren and I have prepared for the coming of you, vile undead! This time, you shall not win!"

Titus: "We meet again, old wizard! I thought a weak coward like you would never show up again!"

Saidan: "You foul pests will not claim this land! We will crush you all here! Justice will be served!"

Titus: "You look familiar, old paladin. Yes, I remember now. You are the noble Saidan Dathrohan. One of the original paladins from the Silver Hand alongside that great fool, Uther. I must admit, I am surprised to see you here. I thought that you would have already died on Stratholme long ago."

Saidan: "I also know who you are, Rivendare. You are nothing, but a paltry mongrel fanatic of that cursed, traitorous and murderous Prince Arthas. You are the one that took over my beloved city of Stratholme! You defiled my home by raising the bodies of the poor folks that were killed by Arthas after the plague spread throughout the city! So, tell me, foul death knight. Where is that vile wretch of a scum prince now? Is he dead? Last I heard, he no longer rules on Lordaeron, or perhaps he is hiding somewhere? Afraid to meet justice for all his crimes against his father and his own people!"

Titus: "Foolish old man! You clearly have no idea of what has become of the master! He is beyond anything that you could fathom! He is far greater now than anything all of you could ever achieved. Lord Arthas is now our Lich King, the supreme ruler of the Scourge! And he ordered us to conquer these lands and bring death to the wretched nation of Stromgarde! By his honor and will, we shall!"

Saidan: "No! You cursed wretches will cause no further destruction on these lands! We shall stop you all here! We will not let Stromgarde fall to the Scourge like Lordaeron! As for your petty king, I do not care of what comes off to that spoiled brat Arthas! I assure you, one day, he shall fall, and so shall the rest of the Scourge! It shall begin with us here defeating his undead servants, especially you, death knight! You shall feel the wrath of the Holy Light, Rivendare, and so shall you, demon!"

Varimathras: "Your hollow bravado does not impress me nor does your threats, paladin! Ever since the Legion step into this world, my kin and I have slain many of your countrymen. The two of you shall only add on the list of paltry heroes that we vanquished before! Now, prepare to die, mortals!"

At that moment, Varimathras and Titus lead their vast undead forces to viciously assault the human town. Saidan and Trelane rally their troops in Hammerfall to defend their base and fight the undead invaders. A heavy war battle occurs between the Scourge army and the Stromgarde forces. Though the undead warriors outnumber the Stromgarde troops, the town of Hammerfall is built with heavy formidable defenses that cannot be easily breached by the Scourge. Both human leaders used their great powers on fighting the undead. Trelane casts his mystical spell of Blizzard to damage various undead warriors with raining shards of freezing sharp ice. He also summons several hulking Water Elementals to fight for him. The Archmage also continuously exudes a magical Brilliance Aura to enhance his mana energies and those of his allied spellcasters around, including the paladin Saidan.

Saidan uses his divine powers to cast Holy Light spell to heal his comrades and also damage enemy undead and demon. Empowered by the Light, Saidan also casts his Divine Shield spell that encases him in an impenetrable barrier that prevents him from being harmed physically and magically. The paladin also instills great courage and inner strength for he exudes his Devotion Aura that increases his defensive capabilities and all those of his comrades around. For his most powerful divine spell, Saidan invokes the grandeur of the Light and casts his Resurrection spell to bring his recently slain warriors back to full life and fight once again among the living. With the combined leadership and powers of Saidan and Trelane, the Stromgarde forces in Hammerfall offer a strong defense against the Scourge army. The Stromgarde troops are showing tough resistance upon the heavy war battle.

Saidan: "Strike with great vengeance, men! For the Silver Hand! For Stromgarde!"

Trelane: "To battle, soldiers! Now, victory shall be ours! In fury for star serah!"

On the other hand, the Scourge forces push on their attack hard to conquer the town of Hammerfall. Varimathras and Baron Rivendare also use their dark powers in fighting the Stromgarde defenders. In contrast to the icy Blizzard spell of Trelane, Varimathras casts Rain of Fire spell to harm various Stromgarde troops with raining fiery rocks. He casts his Sleep spell to put any foe on a trance-like sleep state. Varimathras also exudes a magical demonic aura called Vampiric Aura for him and his melee allies to gain life with every attack. Finally, the dreadlord casts his most powerful fiery spell of Doom to burn an enemy warrior to death and magically spawns a doomguard out from the ashes. The dreadlord unleashes all of his terrible demonic powers in fighting the tough Stromgarde forces.

Titus casts his Death Coil spell to heal his undead minions and harm his living foes. He also exudes Unholy Aura to make him and his allies around to move and regenerate life faster. The death knight also casts his Death Pact spell that sacrifices one of his undead servants and heal himself whenever he takes severe harm on the war. Lastly, Titus casts his most powerful dark spell of Animate Dead to bolster his army with a small force of reanimated undead that shall fight for him for a short time. The fierce heavy war battle continues as the Scourge invaders press their attack and the Stromgarde soldiers defend their town of Hammerfall. Despite the tough defense of the Stromgarde forces, the scales slowly turn in the favor of the Scourge due to their effective assault with the means of heavy attrition and numbers gain. The undead forces are bolstered by every Stromgarde warrior that falls.

Titus: "Let terror reign! All of you mongrels shall know endless torment! Glory for the Lich King!"

Varimathras: "Vanquish the weak! None of you can oppose me! I will feed on your souls, mortals!"

The Scourge army manage to gain the upper hand as they are able to bolster their numbers in battle. The necromancers can raise slain troops into skeleton warriors, the banshees can possess the strong enemy troops, Titus can reanimate corpses through his most powerful spell of Animate Dead, and the powerful doomguard minion of Varimathras does a lot of damage upon their foes. After a while of relentless heavy war battle, the Stromgarde forces lost the edge as they are overwhelmed by the might of the undead warriors. The tough defenses in Hammerfall had been breached by the Scourge with many Stromgarde troops killed and many buildings in the town razed. The Scourge eventually managed to defeat the Stromgarde forces despite losing a heavy number of undead warriors during the war battle. Varimathras and Titus succeed on conquering the Stromgarde town of Hammerfall.

The archmage Trelane was killed in the battle by Varimathras with a wave of his Rain of Fire spell. The paladin Saidan Dathrohan rallies all his standing warriors and desperately leads them to escape the town. Wasting no time, Saidan and his few surviving soldiers from Hammerfall directly run to the far south towards the safety of the distant Capital City of Stromgarde. Victorious in their battle in Hammerfall, Varimathras and Titus paid no attention to the few escaping warriors for they know that Saidan and his soldiers have no choice, but to run back to the Capital City of Stromgarde itself. Varimathras and Titus plan their next move of heading to the Stromgarde Capital City, and conquer the kingdom once and for all. The Capital City or better known as the Stromgarde Keep stands as the last defense of the nation as it is now their only bastion on the mainland of the Arathi Highlands.

Titus: "Finally! Their defenses have fallen! We have conquered the town! Victory to the Scourge!"

Saidan: "Light curse you all rotting monsters! This is not over! Retreat, men! Hammerfall is gone!"

Varimathras: "The paladin and his warriors are on the run! We must slay them before they escape!"

Saidan: "Retreat now! Quickly, we must run back to the Capital! The young king must be warned!"

Titus: "No need to be hasty, dreadlord. Let them flee like the weak cowards they are. They are just delaying the inevitable. There is only place left where they can run, the Capital City of Stromgarde. Soon, we shall launch our attack on their Capital, and there, we will slaughter them for good along with all the denizens of the kingdom and their king! No one is safe from the wrath of the Scourge!"

Varimathras: "Very well, I suppose it is futile to waste our energy in rushing to kill them here with their kingdom soon to fall. Yes, defeat is upon them, and all these lands will soon be mine to rule!"

Titus: "Well, dreadlord. Clearly, our king is wise to have granted you the honor of ruling this land once we claim it from the people of Stromgarde. With your great powers, we were able destroy all our foes in this region, and soon, we will finish them all in their Capital. As promised, you will be taking over this kingdom just as we crush their entire nation! The Scourge will consume them all!"
