Meanwhile, upon the new stronghold of the Scourge upon Icecrown in Northrend, Arthas, the Lich King, is pleased as he senses the success of his lieutenants and armies in Lordaeron. The Lich King is assured about the victory of the Scourge upon taking over the nations of Gilneas and Stromgarde. As the Lich King gloats about the domination of his undead minions over the northern lands in the Eastern Kingdoms, the Crypt Lord Anub'arak comes to inform Arthas of an important information. Anub'arak tells Arthas of a group of strange mutated nerubians that recently managed to crawl out from the collapsed ancient subterranean kingdom of Azjol-Nerub, which he fought and killed, and has now brought the corpses to Arthas. The Crypt Lord also informs the Lich King about the bones of an ancient powerful dragon buried deep beneath the ice at the eastern edge of Icecrown Glacier.

Lich King: "Yes! All is going as I intended! Death and ruin are upon both Gilneas and Stromgarde! Yes! You have all done well there, my lieutenants! The domination of the Scourge is unstoppable!"

Anub'arak: "Hail, Great Lord Arthas! Forgive my sudden disturbance with your visions, my king."

Lich King: "I sensed your coming, Anub'arak. You brought something that you wish to show me."

Anub'arak: "Indeed, my lord. I come to present you corpses of some nerubians that we have killed recently. These nerubians came out of my former kingdom of Azjol-Nerub. Apparently, they have managed to tunnel their way through the collapsed chambers, and crawled out the exit at the Upper Kingdom just as we did before. However, there is something else about them, my lord. They appear strangely different to most of my kind. They have somewhat magically mutated, and became more dangerous. I sense strange dark magics that have grown upon them. It is quite similar to the powers of the ancient awakened faceless ones that we have faced down at the depths of the Old Kingdom."

Lich King: "Yes. I do sense a strange dark power on them even as they lay dead, Anub'arak. They possess power derived from the magic of the forgotten monsters that we had fought. It would seem they were transformed by the ancient horror that awoke deep below. You did well in bringing them to me, Anub'arak. I shall raise them all, and they shall fight for me as new warriors of the Scourge!"

Arthas, the Lich King, brings out his Frostmourne and points it upon the bodies of the dead mutated nerubians. The blade of the Frostmourne glows blue as the Lich King casts his necromantic powers to raise the nerubian corpses into the state of undeath. Upon reanimating the corpses with his dark magic, the mutated nerubians rise from the dead as they have finally become undead warriors that will obey the commands of Arthas. The new mutated undead nerubians are different from the crypt fiends that have long been fighting as mighty support warriors of the Scourge. The mutated undead nerubians are called crypt viziers that possess dark shadowy and poisonous based magical powers.

Crypt Vizier: "Hail to the almighty Lich King! We are reborn and are granted with eternal life. We acquired these transformations and new powers as we tried to find our way out from the depths of our kingdom. Many scattered bits of flesh and blood of the ancient forgotten one that you killed at the Old Kingdom spread its corruption throughout the depths. We were afflicted by the corruption, which mutated our bodies and granted us our new dark powers. Now, we will use these new powers against the foes of the Scourge! We stand to serve and fight in your name and glory, King Arthas!"

Lich King: "Then arise, my minions. You are now part of the Scourge and harbingers of my wrath! The new powers that you possess shall serve our cause well. You have done well by bringing them to me, Anub'arak. More of your kind are now one with the Scourge. Our forces are increasing, and our victory in Lordaeron draws near! By my rule, the Scourge shall dominate this wretched world!"

Anub'arak: "I did only what is best for the Scourge, master. However, if the corruption caused by the forgotten one can empower my living kin, then old tales about my race are true. The rumor that we, nerubians, were created from the power of the ancient forgotten old ones from the deep. I have always thought them only to be myths until we faced them ourselves recently. I am certain that the awakened faceless ones are trying to escape on the surface, and we must not let that happen, master. It shows how powerful creatures they are, and we must prevent them from ever leaving the depths."

Lich King: "I have no plans of letting the ancient monsters from reaching the surface! By my will, the Scourge shall rule over this world! None shall stop us; not the humans, not the orcs, not the old faceless ones, and not even our demon creators of the Legion! Death will come to all our enemies!"

Anub'arak: "Your warriors will always follow your command and fight at your will, master. There is also another matter that I wish to inform you. Far to the east by the edge of glacier near the high mountains of Storm Peaks lies the bones of an old mighty dragon buried deep beneath the ice. The dragon was said to be a former consort of a Great Dragon Aspect. Search the remains of the dragon and raise it to serve you, master. Its strength and powers would even be greater than of Sapphiron."

Lich King: "I am pleased by your exceptional service to me, Anub'arak. You truly are reliable and an asset of the Scourge. Very well! I shall seek and raise the bones of that ancient dragon to become our mightiest frost wyrm! The dragon shall unleash terror from the skies as I command it with our forces to slay all who would oppose me! My reign is supreme! The Scourge shall be unstoppable!"
