Note: Since I've been on a writing kick, I actually have two chapters for you today. Yep, it's a two-parter! Though I'm counting this as a side arc, really these next few chapters are gonna deal with the aftermath of the previous arc. And I think you're going to like it. Enjoy.
In the pitch black of night, when Weiss Schnee returned back to her dorm room, the first thing she did was give Ruby a kiss.
The second thing she did was panic.
In fairness, they were all panicking. There was a lot to panic about. No one had expected the weekend to be boring, but they certainly didn't plan for it to uproot all of their plans. So much had happened that it was difficult to even keep track. Weiss had latched onto the discovery that Ruby had a—and this was the quote she received—"scary Fable ghost" talking to her inside her head, and she spent the first several minutes back in her dorm cradling Ruby's head like a precious cub. Blake was ranting something fierce about Winter and the Schnee Dust Company, and Yang was talking on and on about Team JNPR, and it was all so much to take in that Ruby could barely explain her own discoveries from earlier in the day. Ruby herself was panicking over the bandage on Weiss's hand, and even when Weiss explained that Stiltskin helped repair the damage to the bullet wound, the story itself was enough to send shockwaves. When Ruby was finally able to calm them down somewhat, they agreed to work through the news systematically instead of freaking out all at once.
First: Winter Schnee was cured. Good news. Very good news actually. Everyone could agree to that.
Weiss had unlocked the powers of the Astral. Also good news. Any new Fable abilities were bound to be useful.
Team JNPR had discovered what they were doing. Probably bad news, but not new news. Ruby explained how she discovered Team JNPR's plan several hours earlier, but circumstances prevented her from warning her teammates. Obviously, Pyrrha telling Ozpin their plan would ruin everything, but both Weiss and Ruby seemed to believe it wouldn't come to that—though for conflicting reasons that would come momentarily.
Winter's scheme to overthrow Jacques. Big news. Confusing news. Ruby didn't mind switching plans; she and Blake had admittedly patched their scheme together with hot glue and duct tape. The consequences of changing tactics were significant, and Ruby didn't know the right path forward. On the surface, Winter's plan was impressive and empowering. Underneath, Ruby thought of all the ways it could self-destruct. Team RWBY would need to have a very long discussion to weigh the pros and cons before they acted too rashly. That perhaps was a conversation for another time, especially given the balance of power had already shifted.
Once it was Ruby's turn to share in full, the panic started to set in again. The four members of team RWBY sat around the floor in their pajamas. The lights were dimmed, but they could see the shifts of emotions in each other's faces. She explained the Mistran myth of the Y'llari and its ties to Rosaline, the fight between Ciel and Penny, the threats Ironwood laid down on them, and the desperate play she made to keep him from threatening them further. There was obviously a lot to take in. Blake leaned forward, eyes wide, and picked out something at random.
"Nora. Nora Valkyrie," Blake said with disbelief. "The fucking hammer girl knows about the Fables now."
Ruby laughed nervously. "I mean, the rest of Team JNPR knows about Winter."
"Yeah, by accident, and that was a mistake," Blake countered. "You purposefully ensured the crazy hammer lady knew about all of the most important secrets in Remnant?"
"She needed help, and we need allies," Ruby explained. "With Penny under lock and key, we need someone we can trust. Nora's reliable, and more importantly, she's furious with Ironwood. I think we can rely on her."
"We already tried relying on her once," Yang said. "It didn't go well."
"But that was when she didn't believe us," Weiss said, more comfortable than the others. "If Ironwood confessed, she'd have no choice but to see our side. And, considering the rest of Team JNPR is debating whether to keep our secrets, having her as an influence might be our saving grace."
"I really don't like putting my fate in the hands of Team JNPR, though," Blake said bitterly. "They're wildcards. Pyrrha nearly killed you back at Stiltskin's."
Weiss clenched her injured hand. It still burned, though she tried to remain calm. "No matter what path we take going forward, Ruby is correct. We need friends who can stand up to Ironwood. We can't just rely on Jacques or Sienna, or even my sister. I don't mind working with Team JNPR if we can ensure they are outside Ozpin's influence."
"A pretty big if."
"It is. I agree," Ruby nodded. "But I already got Nora's word she would help before Ironwood even gave me the files on Rosaline. I hate to say it, but even if she had regrets, I don't think she'd be able to turn back. She's in too deep now, and if we're the only people willing to help her, she's going to work with us. I know that's dark, but…"
Blake groaned. "Actually, let's change focus on that instead because that's really wild. You just told Ironwood you knew about Rosaline? And then he just gave you all the information you were looking for?"
"Yeah," Ruby confirmed sadly. "I was desperate. He was threatening me, and it was the only card I could play."
"I get that," Blake said worriedly. "But now that card is played, you know? Whatever leverage we had by keeping that secret is gone."
"I mean, it's not like we even knew what that leverage was," Yang pointed out. "Like, it's kind of hard to be confident when we weren't even sure it was useful. At least now we know that it's something valuable."
"Except we still don't. Not really," Blake sighed. "What do we know about her?"
"That she was a Fable," Weiss said, repeating Ruby's words back to them, "and that she was instrumental in defeating the Anti-Fable. That's the most relevant feature."
"And that she's apparently been talking to you," Yang said, haunted. "And to mom."
Ruby bowed her head in silence, shuddering as the old vision struck her once again. She shook it off and returned to strategizing.
"He seemed scared that I knew about her," Ruby explained. "If she was responsible for stopping the Grimm, that would make sense. That power or knowledge or whatever it is… he wouldn't want it falling into the wrong hands."
"A powerful super weapon that gives its user infinite power," Yang mused. "Yeah, I can see why he wouldn't want people knowing about that."
"Assuming that's accurate," Blake reminded them. "Half of what we know about Rosaline and this Holy Grail thing is from a Mistran myth. We already know we can't trust most things mythologies say. Otherwise, I'd be a Decum Luna follower."
Weiss scoffed. "You would literally never follow Decum Luna."
"Okay, true."
Yang shook her head. "I can't believe every religion is real enough to give us hints, but none of them are real enough to be useful. What kind of luck is that?"
"Our usual luck," Blake muttered.
"We'll just have to dig further, I suppose," Ruby sighed. "Although…"
Her teammates noticed the nervous shift in her body language. Weiss reached over and grabbed her by the arm.
"What's wrong?"
Ruby seemed embarrassed to be saying the theory out loud, though it wasn't any more outlandish than anything they had already faced. "Okay, so… about Rosaline. We know that she is a Fable now—or at least, she was. We also know that if my visions were correct, she was talking to Mom. The same way that she's been talking to me."
Weiss pursed her lips. "Yes, pause for one moment. Are you sure you're all right? Because hearing the voice of a Fable in your head seems really bad."
"Yeah, I'll second that," Yang said, raising her hand. "I mean, take it from experience… if Rosaline is really talking to you out in the open, you need to be careful. That can't be good for your mental health."
"I'll be fine. Just… just listen," Ruby insisted. "I'm trying to put all of the pieces together. Rosaline was a Fable, the one who ruled over the others and defeated the Anti-Fable. She has apparently been talking to my mom, and if my other vision was right, she may have been talking to other people, too. Ironwood is clearly scared of me talking to her. We also know that Decum Luna were Fables, and they had attached themselves to a bloodline, too. So…"
Ruby sighed. Weiss shook her head.
"Ruby, I know where you're going with this—"
"Okay, so maybe Ironwood didn't want me to know about Rosaline because she has useful information on how to defeat the Fables," Ruby reasoned. "But maybe… if she is a Fable, just like Decum Luna, then that means I could—"
"Summon her," Weiss finished the thought.
"Or at least talk to her," Ruby explained. "In the vision with my mother, she seemed to want… I don't know, acknowledgment. She reacted when Nora read the myth to me. Maybe I can reach out to her the same way your family reaches out to the Aspects."
"Except there is a pretty huge hole in that theory," Weiss said rationally. "My family's ability to summon the Aspects is our Semblance. Every member of the Saeva bloodline had the exact same Semblance ever since the creation of the God's Arm. You already have a Semblance. So did your mom."
"That doesn't necessarily mean anything," Ruby said hastily, almost rejecting Weiss's objection outright. "Rosaline is weird—or maybe Decum Luna is weird. Just because they are the only other example doesn't mean it has to work that way. Remember when the Reveler attacked me? It clearly saw something in me. Maybe I just have to bring it out."
"I don't think we should be using the Reveler as a basis for anything," Weiss countered. "We can't trust anything it tells us."
"But—"
"It's risky dealing in the matters of the Gods," Weiss stated. "Even if Rosaline worked like the God's Arm, engaging in those powers can kill you. It almost killed Winter when she used them too long."
Ruby just scowled. She had some bitterness over Weiss being so eager to reject her opinion—the woman was literally just dabbling in the Astral, and now she was lecturing her about the dangers. But Ruby also felt some part of her upset that Weiss couldn't trust her enough to handle those powers responsibly. If they really didn't know what the threat was, why be so quick to shoot it down?
"Also," Yang noted, "according to both the myth and Ironwood… Rosaline is dead."
"But we can't trust those," said Blake. "And if she's talking to Ruby, clearly she can't be that dead."
"So then, I could try to speak with her," Ruby insisted. "If she's really reaching out, I can reach back. We could even try talking to her together. Now that she's talking out in the open, we could just get all the answers we were looking for, and then we don't even have to worry about what Ironwood thinks."
"I don't know, Ruby," Weiss. "Even if this was exactly like Decum Luna, that's more reason to be cautious. The Aspects are dangerous."
"Yeah," Yang asked pointedly. "I'm with Weiss on this one. This is actually kind of scary, Ruby. A Fable is trying to have a conversation with you, and we don't know what her motivation is, what she's capable of, or the real reason why Ironwood is acting the way he is. I mean, let's not forget: he just flat-out told you what Rosaline's past was. Is that not raising red flags for anyone else? Ironwood would never just give us something unless there was some hidden motivation behind it. He's obviously still hiding something."
"He's not the only one," Blake nodded. "You're saying that Rosaline talked to you in a dream? That's… well, that's vague as hell. If she really wanted you to know what's going on, she could have just talked to you like a normal person. This whole thing is really suspicious. You all understand that, right? I know I'm being a pain, but everything about this—Nora, Ironwood, Rosaline—this doesn't feel right. It almost feels too easy, you know? The answers just seem too obvious."
Ruby frowned and suddenly stood up. "Why are all of you so against this idea? We finally have a clear path in front of us, and you don't want me to take it?"
Weiss spoke defensively. "Ruby, that's not what we're saying—"
"Well, but it is though," Ruby said passionately. "Weiss, you're saying the Aspects are dangerous, but we know Rosaline isn't like Decum Luna. She defeated the Anti-Fable. Ironwood talked about how kind and virtuous she was. She's one of the good guys. And Yang, you spent years ignoring the voices in your head, trying to just pretend they didn't exist. That didn't get you anywhere. We have to be willing to confront them if we want to understand them."
Yang gritted her teeth. "I don't think these are comparable."
"And Blake!" Ruby said angrily, pointing at the girl in the shadows. "All you're doing is being negative. I know your plan with Sienna might not work out, but that's not an excuse to just shut down everything else. It's too easy isn't an excuse not to try. It's not like you even believe in karma or anything. My plan with Ironwood actually worked. You're just trying to hold us back from this opportunity because you're afraid."
Weiss sharpened her tone. "Ruby, I think you need to—"
Suddenly, she felt a hand on her shoulder, and she stopped herself. Blake was expressionless as she stood up, slowly walking to stand inches from her team leader. Ruby stood her down defiantly, ready to defend her beliefs, but Blake didn't challenge her. She didn't even frown. Instead, she placed both her hands on Ruby's shoulders and spoke gently.
"Yeah… you're not wrong. I am afraid," Blake admitted. "I'm afraid for all of us. I'm afraid for you. Ruby, we just found out that you are hearing voices. That's… super concerning. I don't care if the voices are real or not, or if Rosaline is alive or… whatever the hell she is. Something we don't understand is happening to you. I know it might look like we have easy answers, but we have to be cautious. Remember when we first came to Atlas? We all agreed that we would look out for each other, we'd listen to each other, and that we would be smart about our plans. I'm not mad at you for doing what was needed to keep Ironwood from hurting us. I get that. And I know this has to do with your mom also, and that's probably a whole big thing I can't even begin to get into. All I'm saying is… we're not in a rush. Let's think our next steps through carefully. I don't want to see anyone get hurt."
Ruby's fire was snuffed out by Blake's kindness. In fact, it shook her to her core. She had been acting rashly. Revealing Rosaline to Ironwood worked to her advantage, but it wasn't guaranteed. If it had gone wrong, she could have screwed over her entire team. What would have happened then? And now, with Rosaline peaking around the corners of her mind—was calling back to the void safe when there was so little she understood? In the visions, her mother seemed petrified of acknowledging Rosaline's presence. Even in near death, she was resisting Rosaline's call. There had to be a reason. The legends Ironwood told of Rosaline portrayed her as noble. Perfect. The ultimate good guy. But Ruby had Rosaline's memories. She had those dreams. And, well… Rosaline didn't feel like one of the good guys.
Ruby had to stop and wonder—those dreams and memories weren't her own. She wondered if her desperation to answer was hers, as well.
"You're… you're right. All of you," Ruby said, gently removing Blake's hands. "I don't know what's gotten into me lately. I guess I've just been so excited to get answers I wasn't thinking clearly. We should be playing this safe, especially with so much else going on. I'm sorry."
"It's fine," Blake shrugged. "We'll figure something out once there's less chaos."
"Yeah. We're here for you," Yang said. She cracked a smile. "And if anything… it's nice to know that I'm not the only one in my family who's crazy."
Ruby stammered. "I don't think that's appropriate to say."
"Hey! I'm the one with Branwen's disease. I can make jokes."
Blake crossed her arms. "So, both your moms heard voices. Your dad really knew how to pick 'em."
"I said I could make jokes, Blake."
"You opened the floodgates. It's fair game."
As Blake and Yang playfully bickered with each other, Weiss sat on the floor in silence. She hated seeing Ruby struggle, and while she was glad they agreed to slow down, the problem of Rosaline was ever-present. She knew eventually, Ruby would try to get her answers. What would happen when Ruby crossed that boundary was anyone's guess, but she needed to be prepared for it. Either that, or she had to come up with an alternative to keep Ruby safe. Fortunately, a pathway had just presented itself to them in the form of her Astral abilities. If she could master them, she could peer inside Ruby's head and get the answers herself. She would have complete control—and if Rosaline was connected to Ruby's mind somehow, maybe Weiss wouldn't mind giving the troubling specter a visit.
That was a problem for the future. She would keep the thought to herself until she was ready to use it. No need to rush into things. For now, she could just enjoy the time she had reunited with her girlfriend, and plan for the future.
In the pitch black of night, when Team JNPR returned to Atlas Academy, Pyrrha received a message from Professor Ozpin. Come to my office. Let's discuss what you saw today. Pyrrha gave him a weak reply about being tired. She needed to sleep on her discoveries before she revealed anything. Jaune and Ren were supportive of the idea. None of them quite knew what to make of Winter's condition, and getting their stories straight before they acted would only benefit them in the long run. It was with that decision that Team JNPR returned to their dorm, hoping to put all of the drama of the day behind them and get a relaxing night's sleep.
They had no such luck.
When Pyrrha opened her door room, she nearly screamed. The room was trashed. Beds were overturned, mattresses and pillows torn to pieces, their closet's contents spilled out over the floor—several large holes and been punched into the walls. The curtains on the window lay in a heap. The desks had been flipped and their contents spilled as well, creating so much clutter there was hardly room to stand. Nora was in the corner of the room with her back to the group. She had dislodged the radiator from the wall and was currently shoving her hand deep into the crevice behind it. When she noticed her teammates standing in the open doorway, she let out a manic cry.
"Shut that door!"
"N-Nora? What are you—"
"Shut it!"
Ren complied, forcing the door closed. Pyrrha and Jaune entered the room, horrified at the mess made of their living quarters. Pyrrha saw all of her clothes crudely discarded, and the sight of her damaged belongings cut her deeply.
"Did you do this?" she asked. "Why did you—"
"Wait!" Nora screamed. Her face lit up with a triumphant cockiness, and she pulled back her arm. "Don't any of you say a word yet! Almost done!"
Nora ran into the center of the room, holding something tightly in her palm. She threw the object down into one of the only clear spaces on the floor. The others didn't recognize it, but it seemed to be some small recording device. They only had a few moments to study it; Nora grabbed her sledgehammer, and without any warning, she smashed the small machine to bits, panicking her teammates. With the machine in ruins, Nora breathed a sigh of relief, planted her hammer, and leaned on it for support.
"Phew! Pretty sure that's the last one," she said confidently. "Took forever to find all of them! Now you can talk."
"Nora, what the hell are you doing?" Pyrrha asked, outraged.
"Saving our bacon, that's what I'm doing!" Nora declared. "I have had a day, let me tell you. You have no idea what kind of shenanigans go on in this Academy, baby. No idea!" The others only just noticed how… off Nora seemed. The thunderous Huntress was always slightly off-kilter, but there was a distinct twitch of her eye, a tremor in her knees, a fidgeting in her arms that had been possessing her for hours.
"Are you okay?" Jaune asked politely. "You look a little… unhinged."
"Unhinged? Ha!" Nora said with a toothy, over-eager grin. "You got no idea. We are way past hinges, Jaune. This door's got no hinges. No one does hinges anymore. Do you think Ironwood does hinges? Ironwood is a freakin' hinge-hater. He has no respect for the hinges, so why should I? Stupid, flippin' hinges… always hinging things."
Ren happened to notice that there were several mugs on the floor, only one of which had any liquid remaining. The color immediately stood out to him.
"Nora, were you drinking coffee?"
"Needed the energy," Nora said, waving her arms around far more than she needed to.
"How much coffee did you drink?"
"Eleven cups."
"What?"
"Yep. Needed the stimulant. Need lots and lots of energy, because I have just been running a mile a minute, Ren. I have seen things, guys. My mind is processing the fucking stratosphere. I have uncovered the secrets of the universe, and they are spicy. My eyes are wide open, and it's like I'm seeing whole new dimensions. I am alive!" Nora suddenly closed her eyes and let out a terrified, bloodcurdling scream. It echoed in the room and rocked her teammate's senses. A few moments later, Nora straightened herself out and smiled once again. "Sorry. Just needed to do that."
Her teammates stared at her quietly, considering if they should get help. It wasn't lost on them Nora was supposed to have the easy job. Sit in her room, don't cause trouble, and wait for them to return. Had their exclusivity damaged her ego this badly? Ren took a deep breath, trying to speak to Nora's heart.
"First of all, Nora, if you're worked up, you're supposed to take a depressant."
"Am I? Eh, tomato tomato."
"Second, maybe you should sit down—"
"No! No way! Not before you know the truth!"
"And that truth is?" Jaune asked nervously.
Nora threw her hammer to the ground—it landed safely in a pile of Jaune's shirts. She threw her arms up in the air, her eyes growing wide, her mouth nearly frothing, and she screamed directly into their faces.
"Ironwood and Ozpin are fucking crazy!" she declared. "Team RWBY was right about everything! Those two maniacs have been lying to us our entire lives, all of humanity is a lie, and they're going to try to kill us unless we team up with Team RWBY right now!"
Pyrrha frowned but bit her tongue. More of this anti-Ozpin nonsense, especially after what she had been through today…
"Nora, what are you talking about?" Ren asked gently.
"Ironwood told me everything," Nora explained, her words blurring together. "There was a huge fight between Penny and some other student, and we all got called up to Ironwood's room, and the dude went nuts. He started accusing me of reading classified information, he blew your cover to Ruby about your mission—which I'm pretty sure was a load of bullshit that you never should have gone on—and then he started threatening to expel me. And then Ruby started talking some weird coded stuff, and she and Ironwood were having this whole conversation that I couldn't follow, and then he spilled everything. Guys, all of Human history is a freakin' lie! He showed me the documents, and the artifacts, and—"
"I am so lost," Jaune said glumly. Nora realized her other teammates were no better following along. She grunted in frustration. Okay. Focus. Start over. Her mouth felt funny from the caffeine.
"All right, look," she said. "You all remember that time a few months ago when Weiss made us do that weird ceremony freaky thing with the big blue man and the frogs and the crystals and the stuff? And we were like, 'Wow that was a wacky Semblance, but it was all in our heads because that's what Semblances do?' No! No, it wasn't! That was real! All of it! Every single last smacking detail was totally a real thing that happened to us! The big blue man was a literal god that they actually summoned down, and all of the stuff we experienced really happened to us in an alternate dimension!"
"Um…"
"Except it wasn't actually god! None of them are gods! There are no gods! God isn't real!" Nora stated. "Human beings actually descended from a race of super powerful beings called the Fables! Ruby explained all this to me! We were birthed from the remnants of an ancient civilization—oh my god, wait… is that why it's called Remnant? Okay, hold on, never mind. Not important. It is important, but it isn't. Fables. Okay, there were these Fables right, who existed like a billion years ago, and that's what the not-Gods are. They were some kind of proto-people that had like a whole empire over the whole world, and then they were all murdered by the Grimm. That's what the Grimm are! Ruby told me this, too. Grimm are like biological superweapons meant to destroy gods, and they did! They destroyed all of Fable civilization, except for a few of them, who went on to form the foundation of every major religion on the planet! Do you guys get that? Every religion is real except they aren't!"
"Did you just say every religion is real?" Jaune asked.
"Except they aren't!"
Nora was about to split at the seams, but her teammates weren't reacting. Maybe her words had been poisoned by too much coffee. Maybe they were unconvinced by the lack of physical evidence. Or, maybe, she wasn't making any damn sense. It was the same reaction they had when Team RWBY tried to explain themselves on their first day at Atlas Academy, only Nora was the one on the receiving end of their doubts. In some sense, they all should have believed her. They had seen the effects of this Fable firsthand. The Grimm were real and had torn through the City of Vale. But it was the grand scale of the conspiracy that held them back from believing the overly hyper Huntress student.
"Nora, really… you should sit down," Ren suggested. Nora just laughed.
"Oh, I get it. You all think I'm crazy. Don't worry, I think I'm crazy, too. Reality is crazy."
"You're saying that you've uncovered the lost history of Humanity and that General Ironwood—"
"And Ozpin. Ruby says he's in on all of this."
"You think both of them have known about this all along, and they just… decided to tell you?"
"They didn't have a choice. Ruby threatened them," Nora explained. "Ironwood thought we had been screwing around with classified info, and he was going to punish us. Ruby stepped in and said something to him that changed his mind. You have to understand how scared he looked. She basically blackmailed him into spilling all his secrets. It was awesome… and horrifying. Actually more stressful than awesome or horrifying."
Jaune shook his head. "I am so confused."
"That's what I said!"
"So… what did Ruby do to blackmail Ironwood?"
"I don't know. She said she talked to a lady named Rosaline, who apparently was some kind of Fable empress. She said she'd explain more of that later."
"And why did Ironwood think you were reading classified information?"
"Because of this!" Nora bent down and picked up the scraps of the small machine, holding them out in her palm for all to see. "The freak was spying on us! This whole time! There were like five of these little recording devices spread all around the room! He saw everything we were ever doing, and he and Ozpin were keeping it to themselves like little creeps! And that's not even the craziest part…"
"Wait."
Pyrrha's suspicions softened. The last bit caught her attention. The conspiracies, the religions, the Fables… she couldn't believe any of that. But here was a piece of evidence she couldn't ignore. For all of Nora's ramblings, this was something real.
"These are… recording devices?"
"Yes!" Nora promised. "See, Ruby and Penny came here asking about some old Mistran myth. I told them what I remembered from my childhood, and then a huge fight broke out—not my fault by the way—and we got called to Ironwood's office. When we were there, he played back the entire conversation we just had! These things had literally been recording everything we had ever done in the dorm. And probably elsewhere."
"What do you mean?" Pyrrha said. Her brow furrowed as Nora continued, and none of them were aware of the increasing tension in her shoulders.
"Ruby gave me more stuff. Lots of stuff," Nora stated. "Blake shared with her a bunch of text messages that Professor Goodwitch had sent her while she was working here. Guys, they are bad. Like, I can't even show you them because they might get me arrested. They have cameras installed in the showers. Goodwitch was sending Blake nude photos of herself, along with all other sorts of crazy shit, and Ozpin knew all along. He was in charge of her, he had to! Not only that, she called them and threatened to kill them. Ruby played me the audio recording like an hour ago!"
Pyrrha didn't say a word, but her gaze narrowed, focusing on the smashed recording device. She slowly tuned out Nora's words, instead becoming consumed by her memories of her Headmaster. She remembered when he promised he would never harm his students—and he lied. He withheld information about their whereabouts—a lie. He said Goodwitch acted out on her own—a lie. Actually, he said he fired Goodwitch after the God's Arm several months earlier, and yet she was still employed when they came to Atlas. What was with that anyway? He never explained it to them. He never bothered to justify why this woman had a job after she almost got them killed through her negligence.
He said they were going to get into trouble—was that a lie, too? Did he really not know what they were up to? If he had recording devices in their rooms, he would know what Team RWBY was planning all along. He sent her to stop them anyway. He sent them to hurt Weiss's sister, who just conveniently happened to be working with him.
And why hadn't he punished Team JJWL for attacking them yet? She knew they received special treatment… did he not care enough to stop them?
And he was threatening her teammates… even if it was Ironwood, there was no way Ozpin wouldn't know about it.
He was spying on them. Were there recording devices in her room at Beacon?
He always knew what to say to her, almost like he knew what she was thinking…
Nora was taken aback when Pyrrha snatched the recording device out of her hand. She didn't say a word as she abandoned her teammates and stormed out the door. She didn't respond to their calls. She didn't think through her actions. She barely kept herself from screaming.
Ozpin wanted to talk with her? Well, she was going to have a very long talk.
