Another sort-of one shot again, but with a different imo ^^
Plus, wasn't planning on leaving a certain character out of this story either
So as usual, feel free to comment your thoughts and enjoy
SUMMER SMILES
Summer of 2005 (Two Months since the Clash's defeat)
Toronto Seaside
Scott and Ramona (Current hair colour: Dark Green on top and Light Green below. Fun Fact: She'd dyed it a week after the Clash's defeat, though she hasn't done anything with it since) stood on the warm sands, embracing each other with nothing but the soothing sounds of the tide coming in. "Ramona..." Scott began gently, only to get gently cut off by his girlfriend, even with her eyes closed. "Shhhhh...don't you wish this moment could really last forever, Scott?" Ramona then asked, her voice becoming one with sweet and gentleness at the same time. "Yeah..." Scott then responded with a smile.
"Wanna make out?" He then asked. "Show me how." Ramona said, placing her arm on Scott's shoulder before leaning in closer to kiss him on the lips...only for a volleyball hit Scott in the face to Ramona's shock. "Hey! No shenanigans at my party, XXXXXXX!" Julie (Age: 23. Status: Still a XXXXX and a half as ever.) yelled in annoyance, not wanting to see Ramona kiss Scott under any circumstances in her sight. Recently, She had prepared a get-together on the beach for her 23rd birthday, and as usual, she wanted to make it perfect...for her, as Kim put it.
"You ok, Scott? You don't have brain damage, do you?" Ramona then asked after leaning over Scott and even helping him up as he rubbed his head. "I...I'm alright. Did anyone see what the hell hit me?" Scott then asked as he looked around. "It looked pretty huge." Ramona chuckled as Scott finally managed to get to his feet. "One thing, how is this your party exactly, Julie? I thought it was Stephen Stills'." Kim (Emotion: Annoyed at Julie as usual) asked, feeling pretty annoyed with Julie's claim. "Actually, I turned 23 last Tuesday and Julie's birthday is next Tuesday...so basically hers is active." Stephen explained, though Kim didn't drop her frown.
"Yeah, and the best part is that my aunt is letting me use her house in the beaches, Kim." Julie added while mildly treating Kim (Let alone the others) like garbage. "Hey uh...Neil, have you seen Knives anywhere?" Ramona then asked Young Neil, who currently sat on the beach and relaxed, seeing as how Knives was nowhere in sight. "She's over there." He said, pointing to Knives (Emotion: Positively happy. Currently Snapping photos too). Currently, Scott's high school ex was snapping a few photographs of both the horizon, the rockpools and even a couple of little turtles that swam by her. As soon as she took notice of her friends, she snapped a few pictures of them too.
Later on at the Boardwalk
The group walked on to find a place to eat, given how it was nearly dinner time for them all. "So guys, what are we gonna have for dinner?" Stephen asked everyone as he had his arm around Julie. "Oh, I know. How about Licks Burgers?" Scott suggested to his friends, and Knives sounded pretty enthusiastic about it too. "Yeah, I heard those are supposed to be soooo good!" She squealed in agreement, though not before Julie glared at her with offense. "Uh, excuse me?! Who's birthday is it, jerks?" She rhetorically asked the two in annoyance. "Ok, ok, fine. It was just suggesting. What do you want to eat, Julie?" Scott then asked, cursing himself for briefly forgetting that.
A moment passed as Julie thought, and then to her annoyance (And her lack of any thought on the matter), she also agreed to have Licks Burgers for dinner. It wasn't long before the evening began to approach, and by then the group all had their burgers, with Scott finishing his up and Ramona lovingly leaning against him. "I'm feeling so happy right now." Ramona admitted with a happy sigh. "I'll say." Scott added after munching another part of his burger. "Scott...I think you're the nicest guy I've ever dated." Hearing this from Ramona, Scott lightly smiled. "T-Thanks...wasn't trying to be, but thanks." Scott said, the words sounding so wonderful.
"Are you kidding me? That is so pathetic and sad, even for you, Ramona!" Julie exclaimed, pretty angered that Ramona would even think that about Scott despite being held back by Stephen, who, like Scott, also munched on his burger. "Hey! Who the hell asked you, Julie?!" Ramona asked angrily, defending Scott while also seeing the other side of Julie, the girl who claimed was her best friend. "Back off, XXXXX, it's my birthday. Besides, you don't even seem as cool as I thought you were anymore." Julie hissed while boasting (Ramona's Note: And being a total XXXXX and a half). And just like that, Ramona's happy moment was gone.
"Well that was depressing. How's your burger?" Ramona then said before turning towards Scott, who had just about finished his burger. "It's good actually. If you want a bite then-" Scott tried to offer, only for Ramona to politely cut him off. "No thanks, I'm kind of a vegetarian. Actually not that much, I'm not really that hungry now." She said awkwardly. As the sun continued to set, Scott couldn't help but ask about something bugging him since the day before. "So...been about two months since we faced off against The Clash. Any idea where your other evil ex-boyfriends been?" He asked.
"Evil exes. And also, I'm not sure to be honest, guess they have lives like all of us (Fun Fact: This is more or less the case for most people, fictional or not)." Ramona admitted, to be fairly honest, she didn't even know when the next of her exes was coming. "Well you did say there were four left, right?" Young Neil then asked, unintentionally butting into the conversation after that moment. "That's pretty much what I heard." Kim added, though not before giving Neil a slight slap across the back of the head. "You could be right, Young Neil." Ramona answered back.
That night on
Scott, Stephen and Kim sung a song to the group for her birthday, and after they finished up, the trio got cheered on by Knives and Ramona, and somehow Young Neil. But for a particular someone however... "Stephen, that song really pisses me off." Julie snarled while glaring at her own boyfriend. "Why? I mean, we only played it for you, babe. Happy Birthday." Stephen then said, trying to be supportive to Julie despite being a bit (Scott's Note: More like a lot.) down. "Please...most of your songs just bore me to death, Stephen. But that one..." Julie began, hurting Stephen's pride in the process whole.
"It was about me! My own boyfriend thinks I'm a total XXXXX and a half!" Julie complained to everyone. Hearing this, Scott, Ramona, Kim and Knives looked at each other. "Well...maybe that's because you are that, Julie." Kim bluntly yet smugly spoke up, and Ramona snickered in agreement too. Scott didn't speak up, but deep down her also supported the girls against Julie (That and always thinking she was a villain deep down too). "Besides, it's a good song, and you're missing the tenderness. The narrator is sad and hurt. But the girl thinks about herself. It's brilliant." Knives pointed, standing on her feet whilst explaining a few things through gestures, occasionally accidently spilling a lot of her beer onto Julie slightly.
"Tell me, who's the dumbXXX who gave Knives the beer?" She then asked as Knives then sat down and blushed in embarrassment. Later on during the night, the whole group went back to Julie's aunt's place and most of them were sleeping on the floor or couch, the effects of drinking so much beer getting to them...well, all except for Scott (Who doesn't drink). "Guys...? Where'd Kim and Knives go? The two seemed pretty wasted..." Ramona drunkenly asked. "Kim and Knives? Why are you thinking about them right now?" Scott then asked in surprise. "I like 'em both..." Ramona then responded with a smile on her face.
"What...? You gonna marry one of them?" Julie asked, not even the affects of alcohol even able to affect her blunt personality. "Maaaaaybe..." Ramona drunkenly (Note: Man, can this night get anymore great...?) responded, annoying Julie already. "I think Knives is throwing up and Kim's trying to help her. She did have a couple of them after all." Stephen then assumed awkwardly. Hearing this, Julie hit him on the back of his head. "I told you not to give her the booze, guys!" She spat, not just at Stephen, but the others too. "Well I'm gonna go look for them if it makes you feel any better, Julie?" Scott then said before walking off to find the two girls.
"Hurry back, Scotty..." Ramona said to him in a merry manner. Scott was up the stairs where he began to hear voices, from Knives and Kim in one of the rooms. "-are boys always like that...?" Knives drunkenly asked with a hiccup in the middle. "Just who they are. They may suck like Scott, but half the time, like him, they're actually alright." Kim then responded with a slight chuckle. "Kim, I...I've kissed the lips that kissed you." Knives then said, appearing in one of the rooms and sitting beside Kim. As Scott peered in, he managed to catch a glimpse of Kim and Knives, kissing (Kim and Knives Status: Drunk & Making out), possibly under the influence of the alcohol.
He was about to head downstairs again after the two girls then hugged, but was spotted by Kim (Status: Surprisingly not that drunk), who glared at him hardly and ran her thumb across her throat as if to say Tell anyone about this, and I'll kill you. Back downstairs, Scott went into the living room with a straight face, getting spotted by Julie and Stephen the moment he walked in. "Did you find 'em yet, Scott?" Stephen asked with a groan. "I think they went out back for a while." Scott then lied, not wanting to reveal what he saw to keep Kim's and Knives' secret, and not to mention the fact that she'd probably kill him if he DID tell too.
Later on during August (Moving Day: Kim Pine)
"Alright, as you guys know, I'm going to be moving in with Hollie and Joseph today. If you're here, that means you volunteered to help out, so let's do it." Kim said to her friends. After a while of just putting up with her former roommates, Sera, Emily and Tracey, Kim decided she'd had enough and moved out. Scott, Stephen, Young Neil and Knives (Status: Feeling slightly awkward around Kim) gladly decided to help her out. Soon enough, unpacking was well underway and despite the awkward interactions between Kim and Knives, things seemed to be going smoothly, or at least, until Scott noticed another guy helping unpack his car.
"Hey uh, who the heck is this?" He asked in confusion. "Jason Kim, Scott. You met him like...four times." Kim pointed out bluntly as Jason Kim waved at Scott. "Yeah. That's my name. I own the car." He then said while shaking Scott's hand. His name, on the other hand, sparked a little bit of Scott's interest. "Wait, his name's actually Jason Kim (Scott's Note: As in Kim's first name?!)?" He asked. "Wow, that's so funny." Knives added with a slight, yet awkward, laugh. "Yeah, yeah, you guys did that the last time. Can we please just get on with this?" Kim then asked with embarrassment. Scott got hold of a huge box before Jason Kim gave him another box, but huge.
"Hard to believe your moving Kim. I mean, why are you doing that?" Scott then asked in confusion. "It's ordinary, Scott. Plus, I hated my old place, especially Sara (Kim's Note: Who's a huge XXXXX)." Kim pointed out, and if she was honest, she was glad to be rid of Sara. "Kinda blowing my mind and stuff." Young Neil then said, feeling a little sad. "Yeah, I'll say." Scott added in agreement, only resulting in Kim growling with annoyance. "Can you guys just carry the stupid boxes?! Oh, and it's the right-hand door on the landing." She said in a threatening tone, almost like she was about to kick the boys' XXXXX, though she was nice enough to say where to go.
Inside the house, the boys found Hollie (Kim's New Roommate. Status: Making iced tea) making iced tea. "Hey there, guys. Been a while." She greeted with a smirk. "Hollie? You actually live here?" Neil said, slightly oblivious to what Kim said before until Hollie nodded at him to say yes. "Guess that makes a lot of sense." Scott said with approval. "I'll say." Stephen added as he helped carry one of the larger boxes into the house with Knives. "Glad you guys like the idea." Hollie said, flattered by the guys liking the idea. "Hey uh, Scott? Which room is Kim's?" Knives then asked, looking around for any sign of Scott in possibly Kim's room.
"Scott...? Where are you?" Stephen then asked after a moment of nobody answering both him and Knives. After getting up one flight of stairs however, the two noticed a room. The two looked inside to see a home recording studio, and the owner of said studio was none other than Hollie's Roommate, Joseph (Age 24. Status: Recording a song). The instant they saw this, the two were completely star struck (Yet another understatement). "Hey...are you...recording music in here?" Knives asked with amazement, just as Joseph turned towards them. "Uh, pretty much." He responded gently.
"A home studio...oh my god!" Stephen then exclaimed, heck even Knives (Emotion: So excited and quite on the verge of fainting out of awe) gasped dramatically, though more on the side of excitement. "Is...is there something I can help you two with?" Joseph then asked gently in confusion. "Joseph! Can you record an album for us?!" Stephen then exclaimed, almost sounding like he was begging Joseph much to the latter's shock. "Sex Bob-Omb literally needs to record an album or two!" Knives added after putting down her box. "Yeah, we've gotta take it to the next level! Besides, you did see us play in the last chapter right?" Stephen added after Knives.
"We don't really suck that much! Please?!" Knives (Ever the heart of Sex Bob-Omb.) then asked whilst pleading Joseph, resulting in a moment's silence. "Ok. I'll do it, because I find you attractive and with you in the band, you guys didn't suck." Joseph then said, accepting the offer, causing both Stephen and Knives (Achievement: Get Sex Bob-Omb it's first ever album.) to cheer with excitement.
Back at Scott's and Wallace's Place afterwards...
The two roommates had just gotten back with a load of shopping. Scott complained about not getting mayo with garlic despite the fact that Wallace (Scott's cool gay roommate. Status: Still gay. And oblivious to the fact that he was getting a lot of stuff.) literally said they couldn't afford the extra. But after seeing into the fridge, Wallace realised that they were out of mayo. "Uh Wallace, why the hell did you take your pants off?" Scott then complained after realising that Wallace was actually in his underwear. "It's hot, can you blame me? And plus, I'm hot too." He admitted with a smirk, making Scott grumble in annoyance about how he doesn't run around naked all the time.
"Oh by the way, we have to go see Peter at some point about our rent. Either this week, or the next or whenever we can." Wallace then brought up on a more serious note. "Our landlord? Why do I have to go?" Scott then asked, almost sounding scared. "My landlord actually. And for the record, I let you crash here one time and you never left (Fun Fact: This was noted in the anime too). But since you're here, then I guess it's your place too." Wallace admitted as he rolled his eyes. "You know that guy scares me, plus, don't you always do all the talking?" Scott then pointed out with literal shivers running down his spine.
"Come on, his bark is worse than his bite. All he is is a little intimidating, given how he controls our destiny (Scott's note: In WHAT way is that a little intimidating?!)." Wallace said, attempting to at least make Scott a little less scared of their landlord. "A little..." Scott admitted whilst before Wallace turned on the blender to make some ice-cold margaritas. Heck, Scott was even offered one given how he mentioned he was hot, or in that case, Wallace only mentioned he was hot. "Anyways, I'd better get going. I said I'd meet Ramona at her place." Scott then said as he got off the sofa and was just about to head out the door.
"Talking of which, how are you two lovebirds doing?" Wallace then asked his buddy. "Oh you know, we've never been better." Scott then said calmly. "Did you say the L-word yet?" Wallace then asked, confusing Scott and giving him the wrong impression. "L-word? You mean...lesbian?" He asked, right before realising that he'd unintentionally said what he'd seen from Kim and Knives. "I meant the other L-word. Not lesbians." Wallace pointed out in annoyance whilst sipping his margarita. "You mean Love? Not just yet. Man, why the hell is this so complicated sometimes?" Scott then groaned, realising that he had jet to admit his love to Ramona, worried that she'd reject him.
"Come on, if Rammy is really the girl of your dreams, then you have to let her know. Overcome any and all obstacles in your path. this is your destiny." Wallace then said to Scott, giving him a lot of motivation (As well as a pat on the back and a confident smirk)...until then he got scared again and ran into the bathroom to hide for an hour.
Over at Ramona's place (2nd Floor, rear balcony)
Scott and Ramona (Status: Both on another date. Yay!) were both having lunch at their place, and it's here that Scott decided to ask about Ramona's hair once again. "Hey Rammy, you know your hair?" He asked. "Yeah, what about it?" Ramona replied after looking at her hair slightly and feeling it too. "Well, you haven't changed it, I mean, dye it or do anything with it, since Lee's Palace." Scott then pointed out, and Ramona couldn't help but chuckle at this. "I guess I'm letting it grow slightly, but I'm thinking of dying it again, probably orange." She then said, having a good idea on what dye colour to use on her hair next.
"Always onto the next dye after 3 weeks. Nice. Man, one of the things I like about you, Ramona. I'd say it's worth understanding you." Scott then complimented. "Speaking of which, why do you like me, Scott?" Ramona then asked after the thought just popped into her mind. Scott didn't answer for a moment while chewing on his own food. "I mean, I like you because you're nice, confident, quick to action and willing to fight for others." She then revealed to Scott (All thanks to the combo of the novels, movie, game and anime being written as a fanfic as we speak) before he spoke up.
"Nice to know. I think you're nice too. You're confident too, beautiful, strong-willed, a little mysterious, but other than that, you're caring and selfless at the best of times." Scott admitted with a smile. "Mysterious? I mean, the two of us have been dating for like four months. Shouldn't you know me a lot more than that by now?" Ramona then asked, arching an eyebrow in surprise and confusion. "I know you a lot better like I said. You rescued Lil' Gideon from the streets, you refused to get back together with that one guy after he thought he defeated me, you and Knives get along so well together, you've got seven evil ex-boyfriends, with only four left to beat and so on." Scott explained from so much he'd learnt about Ramona.
"Evil exes." Ramona pointed out in slight annoyance. "And you're 24 years old. By the way I completely knew that by accident. Just wanted to point that out." Scott then added sheepishly. "It's fine, Scott...probably wouldn't have told you soon enough anyway." Ramona responded after chuckling slightly (Scott's Note: Kind of a relief, in a way). "Though seriously, you can ask me anything you want. I'm always an open book." She then added with a warm smile, the kind that made Scott feel comfortable. "Alright, well...just thinking about it, unlike me, do you ever keep in contact with your family?" He then asked Ramona.
The question itself, however, made Ramona's eyes slightly widen with both surprise and worry before she took a deep breath and spoke. "That book's closed..." She managed to say, though not before glancing away. Scott was sure something happened between her and her family (Scott's Status: Wondering what happened between his girlfriend and her family. Q: Does this have something to do with the League of Evil Exes? A: Unknown...), though he didn't press the question any further.
Scott walked along a strange forest road with a little elf to learn the secrets of the forest. "Do you know the code, Scott? The forest holds many secrets." The elf asked whilst also giving wisdom to Scott...which he felt annoyed about.
"I don't know the stupid cheat code, ok Forest Elf? Besides, what's wrong with learning the forest's secrets the old fashioned way?" He then said to the elf, following the road towards the caves...only to encounter his girlfriend after the two nearly bumped into each other. "Funny dream I found you in, Scott." Ramona said after looking around her boyfriend's dream with a chuckle.
"Look out! Random encounter!" The elf exclaimed to Scott in panic, only for the latter to gently push him out the way. "Ramona! Hey, uh...didn't know you were invading my dreams this early." Scott said, feeling slightly embarrassed that Ramona saw the dream for herself. "I'm working right now actually. Also for the record, it's not that early." She then explained to Scott, who felt a little tired of this, but not that much.
"Oh man, I hope I'm not interrupting your work." Scott then exclaimed, believing he'd just costed Ramona a lot of time from work. "You aren't, but maybe get a job just in case. At least, that's what I'd suggest to you." She then suggested to Scott, a pretty good suggestion...and then a loud RINGING was heard.
The next Morning
Scott (Emotion: Cranky) woke up groggily to the sound of the phone ringing. He then picked it up phone, wondering just who in the hell was calling for him at this hour. "H-Hello...?" He asked groggily. "Scott! You've gotta get out of bed!" Wallace's voice spoke on the other end of the line. "W-Wallace...? Why are you-?" Scott tried to ask, only to get cut off by his buddy. "We got a heatwave warning, so I'm ordering you to get outta our apartment and get some air or else you'll die." Wallace said, ordering Scott out of the house...though at least he meant well about it. "Ok ok, I'll go. God, I'm so sweaty already." Scott then groaned in annoyance as he got out of bed.
At that moment, Ramona's suggestion came to Scott's mind and almost immediately, he decided to ask Wallace the question. "H-Hey...uh, are there any, you know...jobs at your job?" He asked, the question of which surprising Wallace almost immediately. "As in available for you? I mean, do you even know where I work?" Wallace then asked Scott, slightly annoyed at this. "Uh...no?" Scott responded back sheepishly. "Gotta go. But seriously, go someplace cool and maybe find a job somewhere there, ok?" Wallace then said back to, even suggesting he get a job like Rammy suggested, before hanging up.
Once outside...
Scott walked over to the coffee chain on St. Clair street. On the way there, he felt his thirst level dropping, slowly but surely (The kind that would make Scott die of thirst if left unchecked). Looking into his pockets, Scott tried to see what kind of cash he had on him...only to find the results of said attempt didn't exactly please him.
CONTENTS OF SCOTT PILGRIM'S POCKETS:
Candy Wrapper
Rock (From the beach)
Single penny
Lint
Guitar pick
also lint
Couch w/face of dog
Groaning in annoyance, Scott shoved the stuff back into his pockets, but then remembered that knowing his own sister, he'd usually get his order on the house, so at least his luck had somewhat turned around. Then as he walked into Second Cup (Julie and Stacey both work there), Scott was about to walk up to the counter until he came face to face with Julie. "Aah! Julie!" He exclaimed as her glare peered right into his soul. "That stopped being funny so long ago, Pilgrim." Julie then said to him in annoyance whilst putting her earphones in. Apparently she was taking the day off for some reason, so at least Scott felt that was a positive.
"Anyways, do you even know what's going on tonight?" Julie then bluntly asked Scott. "Well, we're recording an album at Kim's new place and then maybe we're thinking of hitting Sneaky Dee's?" He then responded, the answer of which made Julie very annoyed. "Great...recording. As if Stephen didn't have anything else to do." She muttered to herself while walking off. Feeling pretty relieved, Scott then went up to the counter where he saw his sister, Stacey, working her shift. "Hey Stace. Is it possible you could make-" He began, only to get cut off by his own sister gently.
"Lemme guess, your usual free order, an Iced Late? Already ahead of you, little brother." She said, already doing her brother's order in a matter of minutes. Seeing this, Scott remembered the advice he was given by his buddy and girlfriend. "Also uh...are you guys, hiring?" He then asked, sucking it up and bravely deciding to ask for a job at his sister's workplace. "Hiring? You mean here at the Second Cup?" Stacey then asked in surprise as she turned to face her brother. "Sort of." He admitted (With fingers crossed). Sure, he was planning on taking the advice he was given, but as to what job he wanted, well...he planned to just roll with the punches.
"Well it's nice of you to ask, but...we kinda gave our job opening away." Stacey then said to her brother in an apologetic manner. Scott was surprised and kind of relieved in case he didn't want the job. "You did? To who?" He then asked. But before Stacey could explain, Scott was immediately handed his order by another employee who worked at the place. "Hey Scott!" Knives (Occupation: High Schooler and an employee at Stacey's workplace?!) said to Scott with a smile as Scott took his Iced Latte from his ex. "K-Knives?!" He exclaimed in shock. Since she was still in high school, Scott assumed Knives wouldn't look for a job until she as about 19 or 20.
"Guess what, I totally work here!" Knives explained, her positive attitude radiating as brightly as ever. "She kinda asked for a job here yesterday." Stacey then mentioned, a sheepish look appearing on her face. But Scott didn't really mind that much. "Oh, well ok then." Scott then responded. "Hey. Maybe Kim might help you get a job at her place? I can walk you over if you want so-wait, I have a shift right now." Knives then suggested and even offering to walk Scott over (But completely forgot about about her shift). Ok, maybe No Account Video was probably one of the last places he'd go to work, but Scott could at least try.
"Don't worry, Knives. I'll take care of the shift." Stacey then said reassuringly. The two then walked over to No Account Video where Kim worked. Along the way down the street, the two were catching up, with Knives explaining she took the job at Second Cup to help out their band out a little further apart from recording their very first album. All the while, as Scott brought up why he wanted to get a job in the first place, neither of them noticed a figure with black hair and shades (Identity: Unknown. Q: Is he Ramona's evil ex? A: Looks to old for that.) stalking them both.
Soon enough, the two arrived at No Account Video and went inside where they both saw Kim (Emotion: Laughing? Can she actually do that?!) on the phone, talking to someone on the other end. And Scott could've sworn he saw Knives tense up a little. "Ha! She actually said that to your face? That's so hilarious." Kim chuckled while on the phone, seemingly oblivious to the arrival of Scott and Knives. "Kim! Customers!" Hollie then yelled in annoyance, catching Kim's attention and causing her to turn towards the two. Upon seeing both Scott and Knives, her expression changed back to her usual sarcastic one.
"Uh...hey there, Kim." Scott then greeted sheepishly. Heck, even Knives was nervous to see Kim after that night at Julie's aunt's place. "So what brings you guys here?" Kim then asked, trying not to sound as rude since Knives was also present. "I was thinking about getting a job here." Scott boldly explained to Kim, who somewhat smirked at Scott and what he was after. "I wanted to help him out a little." Knives awkwardly added, trying not to make contact with Kim as best as she could. Kim (Note: He's not for real is he?) merely just smirked at Scott after hearing him out. "Yeah...it's pretty stupid, isn't it?" He asked sheepishly.
"What gave that away? The fact that you're unprepared, have no resume and owe us a tone of late fees? I'll call you later, Jason." Kim pointed out to Scott smugly before hanging up the phone. "Wait, Jason? As in, that guy with the car?" Knives asked in surprise, mostly because she didn't know Kim had a boyfriend. "Never mind that, Knives." Kim then said to her bandmate with slight embarrassment. "O-Ok, so uh...about the job here." Scott then asked, before getting stared at by Kim once more. "Not happening. Sorry. But...I just happen to have some info for you." She bluntly said. However, she was nice enough to at least give Scott a batch of good news.
"Wait really? And what's that?" He began as Kim came out from behind the counter. "The place where Stephen Stills works is hiring, and you might have an in. I'll walk you guys over, besides...this place seems dead anyway (Not-So Fun Fact: It usually is sometimes)." Kim then said before offering to lead them over to Stephen's workplace. "Oh cool, thanks Kim." Scott said gratefully as he and Knives followed Kim. "Hurry back, Kimmy." Hollie then called to Kim from the backroom. "Yeah, yeah, whatever." She then responded in annoyance before the trio began walking down towards Stephen's workplace.
"So you really think Scott could get a job at the bank where Stephen works?" Knives then asked, hoping she was right about the outcome. "Actually, he works in a restaurant. Good attempt at a guess though, Knives." Kim then said gently before awkwardly placing her arm around Knives. The same figure from before, all the while, continued to stalk the trio.
At Stephen Stills' workplace
It turned out Kim got it right. Stephen Stills worked as a cook at a restaurant called The Happy Avocado, and was a vegetarian one at best. It even looked pretty good too. "You guys heard right from Kim. We actually do have an opening for a dishwasher position. You could do that, Scott, and at the same time I could teach you prep on the side, so basically, you could work your way up from there." Stephen (Status: Working his shift.) explained to Scott, explaining what would happen if Scott took the job. "So, it's like a video game kind of job system." Scott then nervously asked, though his choice of words didn't impress Stephen in any way possible.
"See you guys." He bluntly said, trying to leave before Scott called out for him. "W-Wait, sorry. I'm just a little nervous and excited at the same time." He said, admitting his nervousness. "Well it's glad to see your not as much of a clueless idiot." Kim then muttered to himself despite the roll of her eyes, even Knives rapidly nodded her head up and down, showing her support. "Scott, now answer me clearly. Are you going to work? Do you have what it takes to become a serious dishwasher? And maybe the best dishwasher that ever was?" Stephen then asked as he leaned towards Scott (Note: Wait, was that a Pokémon reference?), almost like he was about to judge his soul.
"I'll do anything! Just give me a chance!" Scott said, determination rising within his very soul. "In that case; Hey Dominique? Can my friend have that dishwashing job?" Stephen then called over to his boss, Dominique. For a moment there was silence, the worried faces of Scott, Kim and Knives looking as if something was about to go wrong or something. "Sure. Just be sure to come in on Monday Morning at 11 am sharp." Dominique then said without a hint of enthusiasm, and hearing this, Scott exploded with excitement. "YES!" He said, and even Knives cheered for him too.
SCOTT PILGRIM GOT A JOB!
+500 EXP.
"That was surprisingly easy." Kim said bluntly, though she couldn't help but chuckle a little at Scott's enthusiasm on finally getting his first job. "I'll say." Stephen responded out of boredom, though at least he was happy enough for Scott, though he couldn't help but wonder if he'd ever be able to cope.
Over at the Dufferin Mall (Not exactly an exciting mall)
Scott, Kim and Knives (Status: All on break) sat on a bench while Scott smiled at his accomplishment today. Knives had gotten the rest of the day off to celebrate and Kim decided to tag along since she was pretty bored of her working day at No Account Video. "I can't believe I got a job!" Scott exclaimed with excitement, unable to contain it before Kim slapped him on the back of the head. "Seriously, normally I'd say if your life had a face, I would punch it, but all the same...congrats." She bluntly said, though smiled at how mature Scott was for actually getting a job for once. They would've actually gotten a meal to celebrate...but Scott forgot he was almost broke.
"Scott...? Kim...?" A girl's voice spoke from the right of the trio, causing them to turn and see a blonde woman, in her 20s and wearing a yellow dress and knee high boots, looking at them in surprise despite the confusion of Scott himself. "Scott Pilgrim? Kim Pine?" She then asked, her surprise then becoming one with realisation. "Uh yeah? Can we help you?" Kim asked, confused herself about who the woman was...or at least, until she rushed towards the two and hugged them both. "Oh my god! It is you! What the heck are you both doing here?!" The woman then asked, amazed at seeing Scott (Has no idea who she is) and Kim again.
"Uh, just celebrating Scott getting a job. But wh-Wait, I know that face anywhere..." Kim then began, only to then recognise the face of the woman. "It's Lisa Miller, from High School, remember?" The woman, or better yet, Lisa (Scott and Kim's old High School Friend. Age: Possibly same as Scott. Status: Currently in the mall shopping from what Scott could tell), said, and then Scott remembered her. "Wait, Lisa?! Holy crap, it is you!" Scott exclaimed. After all this time, he never thought he'd see his high school friend again, even if he'd forgotten her slightly.
"I can't believe you're even here either! Seriously, after all this time...I'm glad to see you again." Kim (Status: Hugging Lisa after recognising her.) said, showing a genuine smile for her friend. "I'm amazed too, Kim! This can't be a coincidence. Do you guys come here often?" Lisa then asked, showing so much enthusiasm, even after all these years. "Not really..." Scott admitted. "Understandable. I'm only here to get outta the heat, but not here for long given that this place is full of XXXXXX teenagers!" Lisa then said whilst glancing towards a couple of teenage girls.
Scott, of course, felt slightly uncomfortable the way Lisa was dressed...though he didn't complain about it (And for good reason too). "Anyways, what are you guys up to? It's been like four or more years." She asked after a moment. "Well aside from having his own girlfriend and just getting his first job, nothing else." Knives (Note: Who the heck is this girl? Another of Scott's exes?) pointed out to Lisa despite having just met her and the fact that Scott never once mentioned her to her. "Wait what?! Ok, I have a lot of questions, but first, have you guys eaten? Why don't we get some mall food." Lisa then suggested after seeing Knives and hearing all of this new info.
After a few moments, Scott and the girls got their food and while having it, talked about countless things, how Knives was briefly Scott's ex and now the newest member of a band that Kim and Scott became a part of, even bringing up how well they rocked. Scott also mentioned Ramona, but nothing about the evil exes just in case (Scott's Note: In case one of the exes got smart and kidnapped her to draw me out. Wait...will that happen in the future?). "And that's pretty much you caught up, Lisa." Kim finished. "Wow, you actually rock big time?" Lisa said with amazement.
"You bet. Many people loved us, and that was the best night of my life." Knives explained, even sighing at the memory too. "That's awesome. I seriously can't wait to hear you guys play." Lisa said, amazed at how far Scott and Kim had come since High School. "Seriously, we have to hang out all the time! I mean, if that's alright with you of course." Kim said, and boy she was so enthusiastic (Status: Positively out of character) to hang with her high school friend. "Well, I think I'll be here till the end of summer, so it definitely is. By the way, do you have a cell phone, Scott?" Lisa then said before asking if Scott had a cell phone. The question, of course, made Scott confused, mostly because he didn't own a cell phone.
"Uh never mind. I'll write my cell number down so you can call me without having to disturb my crazy-XXX sister." Lisa said before writing down her phone number and giving it to Scott. "Man, you guys go way back?" Knives then asked Kim, a little sad she never heard about Lisa until now. "You'd better believe it, Knives. If it wasn't for her suggesting we form a band in the first place, we probably wouldn't be here now." Kim then explained to Knives (Emotion: Suddenly surprised. Currently wondering if Lisa was the whole reason Sex Bob-Omb exists today).
Meanwhile...
Within Gideon's Lair
Gideon (Status: Discovered something new about Scott Pilgrim.) watched Scott speak with Lisa, Knives and Kim, assuming that Lisa was another one of Scott's exes. In fact, given how Scott had a lot of exes, it was the perfect timing for sending the next ex after him. "So...have your own Harlem do you, Pilgrim? Well then...why don't we turn things up a notch?" He said to himself before his interns (Identities: Unknown. Gideon's Note: Like I'd ever tell you guys who they are) approached him gently. "Get miss Richter on the line. And tell her...it's finally her turn. Also, did you precure the sample of Scott Pilgrim I requested?" After he spoke to his interns, Gideon was then handed a single hair that came from Scott, causing Gideon to smile, and not the best kind either.
Later on...
Back at Scott's and Wallace's apartment
Wallace arrived home to see Scott, sitting on the couch and playing one of his video games while sweating really hard. "Scott, seriously? Have you been here all day?! Didn't I tell you to go somewhere cool?" He complained to Scott, who barely managed to turn in his roommate's direction. "Hey...I was doing stuff, at restaurant and mall, then I came home and...yeah, kind of." He then said to Wallace in annoyance. "Man, you're so lucky to be alive, Scotty, and have someone like me." Wallace then said before pouring two glasses of water and handing on to a nearly dehydrated Scott.
"By the way, I think we should go see Peter Monday." Wallace said while Scott was trying to gulp down all of his water in one go. The words of which caused Scott to spit out on shock. "Wait, as in we actually see our landlord on Monday?! Come on, why don't you do it yourself?!" He then exclaimed in shock. "I need my wingman, don't I? Also, you if you've got a job then you need to be out of here to work." Wallace then said before asking a very strange question to Scott while also pointing out a good point. "Ugh, fine...just as long as we're not in there any longer than half an hour." Scott groaned, giving in and deciding to accompany Wallace to his amazement.
Elsewhere...
In the shadows of what seemed to be a Japanese garden, a woman was stood atop of a pole balancing on one foot while at the same time, seeming calm...or at least until her cell phone ringtone (aka The Hamster Dance. Fun Fact: She loves this song. Don't make fun of her.) went off. She became so annoyed that she stopped her training to answer it. "What is it?! I'm busy training ninja stuff! Obviously!" She then asked the caller on the other end. "Looks like you've finally got your turn to fight Scott Pilgrim." Gideon said to her, the words immediately making her smile within an instant.
"Seriously?! Alright! Looks like the rooster's finally about to crow." The woman said before jumping down from the poll and even doing a three-point landing (Not-So Fun Fact: She wanted it to be a four-point landing) on the ground. "Whatever that means...just don't screw this one up, Roxie." Gideon then warned the woman, called Roxie, as she got her katana and put on a red mask with fangs. "Oh trust me, Gideon...Pilgrim won't know what's coming for him!" Roxie then said before slicing a photograph of Scott Pilgrim in half with her katana, causing it to fall to the ground in two pieces.
Well, looks like we're all set up for the next chapter
