Thank you to everyone who read or left kudos for the last chapter. I appreciate it. This is the first chapter you see that I wrote post-surgery and my mother's death. But it's actually the second one I wrote. I was initially going to put this in the middle of the next chapter, but it didn't quite work there. Then I was going to add it to the end of conversation 68. But it didn't quite work there, either. Also, once I decided to add personal letters to Natasha, it definitely needed to be its own chapter.
After writing the rough draft of these two chapters, I realized I was too traumatized to work on them. The situation in these chapters was too similar to what I was processing at the time. I decided to take a break and ended up writing enough Ugly Betty chapters to get me to summer before going back and even doing the rewrites on these chapters, let alone writing more. I'm glad I wrapped up Letters I Could Never Send before everything happened. That story would've been even more traumatizing than this one.
I had an internal debate on whether to call this a report or an email chapter. It contains both. I finally decided on a mission report.
Mission report 4: Meanwhile, On Asgard
Message to Wakanda/Malta Avenger Natasha Romanoff from UN Avenger member Agent Daisy Johnson
I thought I would check in, sweetie. I miss you. I hate when we are not working together. It's taking a little while to adjust to the current team. At least I have Robbie and haven't quaked your ex-boyfriend yet. Valkyrie is also mostly sober, so I'll take it.
We are about 30 minutes out from Thor's house. Yes, we have a plan to kick out the super-evil sister, which is to distract her and get everybody else on the ships. I forgot to tell May that we managed to get several more than the other timeline which baby bird sent instructions to do. I hope that means that we will have more survivors than last time.
I've never done an evacuation like this before. I should ask Thor or the ex-boyfriend if this was like what they did in Sokovia. Although even then, they still missed people.
So, Thor is mad at me. I didn't want to tell him what happened to Loki in the other timeline, and he found out because beta timeline Thor told him. He's being super overprotective. He wants to go with Loki to start the fire and get the New York ring pop, but I need him to be part of the distraction team.
I'm going myself. One, it will be faster with both of us there. Also, there is probably a 50-50 chance that the Beta Thor may have told Loki what happened in his letter. I know Loki received a letter, but Ana refuses to tell me what it says. Considering the glares I received from Loki for most of the last meeting, I think it's highly probable they know. I hope that doesn't compromise the mission.
Wish us luck. We are going to need it.

Avenger mission report of Agent Daisy Johnson, UN Avengers member
Location: [redacted]
Time: [have Ana figure that out later]
Let me begin this report by saying that we have all survived the battle of Asgard. Like in the other timeline, we burn the place to the ground or rather let the other guy do it. Hella has been neutralized.
Since we knew that was the plan going in, we focused on evacuation and distraction. Nobody lost any body parts this time, so it was a good strategy.
I went with Loki to retrieve the NYC ring pop. Someone had to for various reasons, including Thor being super clingy. By going together, I got the NYC ring pop as Loki took care of the other thing. Please thank the Princess for creating a containment box. At least I can touch it.
Thor wasn't happy about my decision not to be part of the distraction team, mostly because he wanted to stay with his baby sister.
Thankfully for us, Bruce agreed with my decision, even though he still doesn't know that Sylvie is Loki. We're not telling him now since he survived the battle in Bruce form. I want to thank whoever had the good sense to go through the other timeline report and change all the Lokis to Sylvie. Bruce still thinks that Loki died during the London incident. It's not hard for Bruce to believe Thor has another sister that no one knew about. If you have one secret sibling, why not another one? He does think daddy dearest is an asshole.
Robbie really liked going up against Hela. The Rider was in his element. Robbie, Valkyrie, and Thor were able to keep her sufficiently distracted while Bruce helped with the evacuation with some of the other people we liberated from S.
Per Ana, we have 283% more refugees than from the beta timeline. So, I'm glad we listened to the baby bird and got more ships. Once we settle all the refugees; Robbie, me, and Loki will leave for Plan B while the others travel to earth.
Thor thinks that they can settle in Norway. That might be a problem. Maybe in the original timeline, Norway could take in the displaced Asgardians, but we have nearly three times as many refugees. (Actually, six times if you factor in the Snap.) I am glad War Machine argued for protections for displaced aliens and other interplanetary refugees. Is there a contingency plan for this many refugees? The King may need to help with this.
The majority are children. Also, not all are Asgardians . The planet had a substantial immigrant population. We were able to rescue more than in the beta timeline. I'm also hoping that by separating, all of them will actually make it to Earth.
We will see if that happens. I will send another update once I have separated from the main group. Heimdall will send additional updates.

Hey, I thought I would write you another separate message—one with details not suitable for the actual report. Again, nobody was hurt, and no eyes were lost this time. Although, Valkyrie is currently crying now that the person who killed her lover is gone for good. So I'm writing you this with one hand.
Things would be much better if you were with me. If the other team could spare you, I would like you to come. Loki is pissed at me. Yes, Beta Thor told them, and they are furious at me for keeping that secret.
They're upset that I wouldn't let them retrieve the Tesseract because that's what they did in the beta timeline. Not that anybody knew what they were getting when Loki went to trigger Ragnarok.
Loki said I didn't tell them because I didn't trust them. I'm willing to acknowledge there might be some truth to that. However, I trust Loki more than I did when we first got stranded on Sakaar. Honestly, I wouldn't have minded if Loki took advantage of the chaos on Asgard and got the hell out of there. Except not with the blue ring pop because, per the ex, it can be tracked that way. So really glad we got another ship, and the Princess's case shields the ring pop's energy signature. So, we're going to be untraceable that way, at least. I hope that's enough.
No, I don't think Loki will run away with the ring pop. They want to get back at the purple one. I am worried that now that they know, we will make all the same mistakes that led to Loki getting their neck snapped. Maybe if you do come, Thor will stay behind with the refugees. I think Earth is going to need him to help with resettlement. There's a plan for that, right?
I'll send another report when we separate from the refugee ships. Bruce or Heimdall will continue to send updates as the ship makes the journey to Earth. With extra jumps to avoid purple hotspots, they may take as long as a month to reach earth.
Anyway, I hope you're somewhere you can respond quickly.
To be continued…
