Carol and Maria were flying on modified spaceship above the clouds while Fury was petting Goose, Talos was looking at him uncomfortably and Bucky was reading a book.
"Passing 500 and climbing." Carol said.
"You know, you really shouldn't have that thing on your lap." Talos said.
"Our little alliance with you is tenuous at best. And as long as he continues to freak you out" Fury said, pick Goose up, shoved him towards Talos' face and Talos jerked backward in his seat. "like that, yeah I'm gonna keep giving him all the love and hugs he needs, right?"
"Can I ask you something? Do you just turn into anything you want?" Maria asked.
"Ah well, I have to see it first." Talos said.
"Can you all do it?"
"Physiologically, yeah. But it takes practice and, um, dare I say it, talent to do it well."
"Can you turn into a cat?" Fury asked.
"What's a cat?"
"What about a filing cabinet?" Maria asked.
"Why would I turn into a filing cabinet?"
"A venus fly trap. I'll give you $50 right now if you turn into a venus fly trap." Fury said and Talos sighed, annoyed at Fury's jokes while Bucky slammed his book shut and they looked at him.
"Enough Nick. Jesus, how the hell did they hire you?" Bucky said shaking his head. "I know for a fact that Peggy, Howard and Chester wouldn't if they were still there."
"Switching engines from Scramjet to fusion. Buckle up, folks." Carol said and pushed down a lever, causing the plane to suddenly climb further into the sky.
In the plane, everybody was pushed back into their seats.
"Hey. Is this normal, like space turbulence?" Fury asked.
"Pretty much." Carol said and smiled at his question, while Talos just looked towards him and shook his head.
The plane kept flying directly upwards, inside the plane everything started floating. Carol and Maria's hair started floating along with a few pens from the console between their seats, Goose was floating upside down until Fury extended his arm, which Goose eagerly grabbed onto and Bucky's old dog tags started to go up which he grabbed onto. Then Maria flicked a switch and gravity suddenly turned on inside the plane, and everything returned to normal.
"Locking in coordinate grid." Carol said.
"Where is it?" Maria asked.
Outside the ship was sitting in empty space with Earth below it.
"It's here. It's gotta be here." Talos said.
"Well, is it in front of all that nothing, or behind it?" Fury asked.
Carol realized something, pulled out the computer in her arm and after a few swipes, the computer lit up.
"Decloaking activated." she said.
Suddenly, a bright light appeared from the empty space and a massive laboratory became visible. The title "Mar-Vell's Laboratory, Kree Imperial Cruiser" appeared on the screen and Carol flew the spaceship into the laboratory and they disembark the plane and started walking through the corridors.
They walked into a giant room, with the something Bucky recognized immediately sitting in the reactor on one side of the room. Goose jumped onto the reactor and scratched it, intrigued by the bright light as Bucky, Carol and Maria followed behind him.
"Oh my god." Bucky said.
"Is that it? The core?" Maria asked.
"In her notes, she called it the-" Carol started.
"The Tesseract." Bucky said cutting her off and they looked at him.
"How do you know?"
"I may not look it, but I'm really 78 years old and a veteran of WWII. I worked with the Howling Commandos and when Steve disappeared, I took his place as the leader. Johann Schmidt had the Tesseract in 42 and then right before Steve disappeared in 45 he had it again and just, vanished. Steve said he was dead but it sounded to easy to me. I think he's still out there somewhere. I just don't know where." he said while Carol reached out and grabbed the Tesseract from its position in the reactor.
Then she threw it in the air like a baseball and walked around the room, beginning to observe her surroundings.
"Whoa. What was Lawson doing with all this kid stuff?" Maria said, picked up a lunchbox and opened it.
Then Carol put the Tesseract inside before closing the box and Fury coughed gesturing towards a cup of tea, still steaming.
"We're not alone." Maria said and Talos started singing loudly.
Suddenly, a swarm of scared Skrulls appear from their hiding places when a Skrull ran towards Talos and hugged him.
"Talos!" Soren said.
"He didn't come here for the Tesseract." Carol said and Soren called a child to come towards her and Talos so the child came willingly, and Talos leaned down to get a better look at him.
"It's okay. We didn't know what to do. Mar-Vell warned us not to send a signal for any reason or the Kree would find us."
"You did the right thing."
Once Soren noticed Carol, Maria, Bucky and Fury were standing in the room, she tried to back away but Talos stopped her.
"It's okay, it's okay. She's alright. She's a friend." Talos said.
"I'm not gonna hurt you." Carol said.
"She led me to you."
"I'm so sorry. I didn't know."
"Carol, this is war. My hands are filthy from it too. But we're here now. You found my family. This is just the beginning. There's thousands of us separated from each other... scattered throughout the galaxy." he said and his daughter walked over to Carol, held her hand and directed her towards the pinball machine in the corner.
When they got there, the child pointed to the high score in glowing lights, jumped excitedly and asked her to play.
"If I played the same pinball machine for six years I'd have some high scores too." Fury said.
Suddenly the doors to the lab opened, and Yon-Rogg and his team walked through.
"Fraternizing with the enemy?" Yon-Rogg said and Fury and Bucky drew their guns but Minn-Erva already had hers pointed directly towards him.
When she gestured for him to drop it, he raised his hands in surrender and returned the gun to its holster. Yon-Rogg walked towards Carol and threw Goose along the floor towards her. Talos positioned Soren behind her, Bucky, Fury and Maria were both unarmed while the Kree's surrounded the four]
"What did you do to your uniform?" Yon-Rogg asked.
"They got in her head. Just like we thought." Minn-Erva said.
"The Supreme Intelligence will set her straight." Korath said.
"You can see they're not soldiers, let them go. You can have me." Talos said.
"And the core?" Yon-Rogg said.
"You lied to me." Carol said.
"I made you a better version of yourself. What's given can be taken away." he said and she tried to light up her fists but they just sparked uselessly before eventually dying out.
The chip in her neck also turned off and instead of using her powers, she ran towards him and started punching him resulting in a fist fight between them. Quickly, he lit up a gadget in his suit. The gadget glowed bright blue and caused Carol to lean back in an attempt to avoid it. Around her, the Kree were attacking the Skrulls, forcing them to kneel. Then he jerked his arm away from her, causing her to fall onto the ground.
When she woke up, the Supreme Intelligence machine was attached to her kneeling with her hands bound in front of her. When she met the Supreme Intelligence, a record was playing beside her and a long table was sitting in front of her, a few meters away with Dr. Lawson sitting at the only seat.
"There she is. Seems like you time on C-53 jogged the old memory. This jacket? It's killer by the way." Supreme Intelligence said, stood up and started dancing to the music. "The music, it's a nice touch."
"Let... me... out." Carol said.
"No can do."
"If you hurt them, I will burn you to the ground."
"With what exactly? Your powers came from us."
"You didn't give me these powers. The blast did."
"And yet, you've never had the strength to control them on your own." Supreme Intelligence said and Carol tried to blast it with her energy blast, but when she it snapper her fingers and the energy disappeared, replaced with searing pain in her neck causing her to double over in pain.
On the spaceship the Kree were still surrounding the Skrulls, and Goose was being scanned with a Kree scanner.
"Species: Flerken. Threat: High." Scanner said and Bron-Char started putting a muzzle on Goose's head, but was met by protests from Fury and Bucky.
"It's a cat. Not Hannibal Lecter." Fury said.
"Species: Human male. Threat: Low to none."
"That thing is clearly busted."
"Oh for the love of God Nick! Just shut up!" Bucky said.
"Load the Flerken onto the heli. Eject the others into space." Minn-Erva said.
Back to inside the Supreme Intelligence Carol had just finished standing up after the pain in her neck.
"You did good, ace. Thanks to you, those insidious shapeshifters will threaten our borders no more." Supreme Intelligence said.
"I used to believe your lies. But the Skrulls are just fighting for a home. You're talking about destroying them because they won't submit to your rule. And neither will I." Carol said.
"We found you. We embraced you as our own."
"You stole me. From my home, my family, my friends." she said, ran forward and jumped to punch Lawson, but her hand traveled right through Lawson's skull.
Then Lawson threw her into a wall, leaving her hanging sideways.
"It's cute how hard you try. Remember... without us...you're weak." Supreme Intelligence said and Carol pushed herself behind the wall, and saw a screen of her younger memories on Earth playing. "You're flawed. Helpless. We saved you." it said and the screen of Carol's failures kept playing, until she dropped, falling into nothingness until suddenly landing on the floor. "Without us... you're only human."
"You're right. I'm only human." she said when a montage played, of her standing up every time after her failures.
"On Hala, you were reborn. Vers."
"My name... is Carol." she said and lit up her fist, but Lawson blast energy towards her first.
Lawson's energy surrounded her, but she managed to walk towards Lawson. On the spaceship, Carol's hands started to light up and burning the machine.
"She's trying to break out." Korath said as Carol kept releasing energy waves from her hands causeing all electricity on the ship to malfunction.
Then Goose's cage came loose, the prisoner's handcuffs suddenly pop open and the cage full of Skrulls was opened.
"I've been fighting with one arm tied behind my back. But what happens..." Carol said and pulled out the chip attached to her neck, causing the energy from her fists to spread to cover her entire body. "...when I'm finally set free?" she asked and dropped the chip before flashing back to her absorbing the energy from the explosion before flashing back to the present day where the chip exploded off her neck like a bullet and she was released from the Supreme Intelligence, glowing and floating in the air.
Suddenly she blast energy from her hands, and sent four Kree flying backward in to the wall behind them. She grabbed the lunchbox with the Tesseract and found Maria, Bucky and Fury.
"You know you're glowing, right?" Fury asked.
"I'll explain it later." Carol said and opened the lunchbox to reveal the Tesseract glowing inside. "Take the Tesseract, leaving the lunchbox." she said as he unbuckled Goose's collar and held her.
"Me?"
"Yes."
"I'm not touching that thing."
"Me neither. I've done my time with that thing. I'm not doing anymore." Bucky said.
"Want me to get you an oven mitt?" Carol said when suddenly Goose lurched himself out of Fury's arms and giant tentacles emerge from inside his mouth, picked up the Tesseract from the lunchbox and swallowed it whole before returning back to a normal cat while Fury quickly dropped Goose in surprise.
"Ohh shit." Bucky said in shock.
"Get the Skrulls in the QuadJet and go. Take the Flerken with you." Carol said.
"What about you?" Maria asked.
"I'll buy you some time!"
"I'm picking you up now. I'm trusting you not to eat me." Fury said.
"You do that." Bucky said looking at Goose. "Just don't get sucked in to."
Later Carol was sitting on the railing of an overhead corridor holding up the lunchbox in front of her before jumping over the railing once she had the Kree's attention.
"Hey Guys. Arm-wrestle for the Tesseract." Carol said.
"I used to find you amusing. Let's put an end to this!" Yon-Rogg said and the Kree all drew their weapon, starting to advance on her but she simply blast her energy down the overpass, causing the metal to snap and four Kree to be incapacitated.
Then Carol proceeded to take on the Kree, attacking them individually. Each fight only lasted a few seconds, but always resulting in Carol dominating.
Then Maria picked up a gun and fired until Goose opened his mouth and the tentacles took the Kree soldiers, beat them up and swallowed them.
"Oh shit." Bucky said.
"Okay." Maria said.
"Good kitty." Fury said and Bucky looked at him.
"I'm really starting to thing you need to go to a mental hospital Nick." Bucky said shaking his head.
"You knew all along. Is that why we never hung out?" Carol said.
"No. I just never liked you." Minn-Eva said.
Meanwhile Bucky, Fury and Maria were running through a corridor on the ship when a group of Kree appeared behind them.
"Hey! In a hurry?" a Kree asked.
Back with the fight between Yon-Rogg and Carol Yon-Rogg was standing above Carol, about to attack her.
"Don't make me do this." -Lass said.
"Okay." Carol said and blast some energy, causing her to fly upwards and Yon-Rogg to fly backward towards a wall.
"Now! Come on! Do your thing. Come on! Dammit, Goose. Pick a side." Fury said.
"It's got the damn Tesseract Nick! What do you expect?" Bucky said.
"Take them to the hangar too. We'll blast them all into space." Kree said.
"Play it cool. Just like Havana. Do you have the thing?" Talos said.
"Flerken kitty ate it." Fury said.
"Come on. Move. Move!" Kree said.
"Follow my lead. Cover her eyes." Talos said to Soren and he shot the four guards escorting the Skrulls onto the ship, causing a distraction. "Get on the ship. Let's go, let's go."
Meanwhile the fighting between Yon-Rogg and Carol continued and eventually, Yon-Rogg pinned Carol to the wall with a mountain of metal from the walkway then opened the lunchbox to find a soup container sitting inside.
"Nice diversion." he said.
"I could've swore, I put it in there." she said and the fighting between them restarted with Yon-Rogg throwing loose pieces of metal at Carol telepathically.
Carol quickly escaped and ran towards the energy source but the Kree found the Skrulls had begun escaping and ran towards the hanger, shooting randomly at the ship. One of these bullets hit Talos, causing him to fall over in pain. Maria Rambeau started the ship and left the Laboratory with the Skrulls, Bucky and Fury.
"Minn-Erva, take them down on a dropship." Yon-Rogg said.
"On it." Minn-Erva said.
Meanwhile Maria was pioleting the spaceship.
"You all right, friend?" Fury asked.
"Never... better." Talos said.
"We've got a bogey. Coming in hot." Maria said while Bucky thought about the last time he heard about the Tesseract and how he got into a huge fight with Howard, Peggy and Chester together.
Minn-Erva followed the Skrulls down to Earth in a space pod. Yon-Rogg entered a pod, too, just as Carol caught up with him, lit up her fists, preparing to fire, but Yon-Rogg dropped the ship, catching her by surprise and she activated her helmet and held onto the pod tightly.
Meanwhile, Minn-Erva started shooting at the Quadjet and Maria barely dodged the bullets while flying through the desert. Carol tried to shoot Yon-Rogg again, but was sent backwards by his magnitron device and fell down to Earth, but managed to calm and control her powers right before hitting the ground, allowing her to fly back up.
Meanwhile Minn-Erva kept chasing down the Skrulls, as the two spaceships entered a canyon. Maria evaded the bullets with ease and took a shortcut, allowing her to be in front of Minn-Erva's pod and destroy it with blasts.
"Ha ha!" Fury said.
"Yes! Boom!" Maria said until Yon-Rogg attacked the Quadjet, but Carol hit his pod in her flight.
"What the hell was that?"
Due to the damage taken, Yon-Rogg's pod crashed into the desert and the Accusers arrived outside Earth's atmosphere.
"Deploy ballistic warheads." Ronan said and all the spaceships launched the missiles towards Earth.
Carol managed to catch one with her hands and, using her newly discovered power, threw it back, causing it to explode destroying the rest of the warheads, while she flew right through the fire towards the spaceships.
"That's impossible." accuser said.
"C-53 doesn't have a defense system advanced enough to destroy our warheads." Ronan said.
"That's not their defense system, Ronan."
"Take her down." Ronan said and the spaceships deployed several drones which started shooting at Carol.
She avoided most of them and absorbed the energy of the blasts that hit her then kept destroying all the drones and one of the Accusers' spaceships, before flying in front of Ronan, showing her full power.
"Return to the jump point. We'll be back for the weapon." Ronan said.
"The core?" Accuser said.
"The woman." Ronan said and the Kree retreat while Carol returned to Earth confronting Yon-Rogg.
"I'm so proud of you. You've come a long way since I found you that day by the lake. But can you keep your emotions in check long enough to take me on? Or will it get the better of you, as always? I always told you... you'll be ready, the day you can knock me down as yourself. This is that moment. This is that moment, Vers! Turn off the light show, and prove, prove to me, you can beat me without…" Yon-Rogg said and she shot him with a small blast, sending him flying backwards, hit a rock and walked towards him, while he tried to crawl back.
"I have nothing to prove to you." Carol said, reached her hand out to him and he took it.
Then she dragged him across the desert, put him in the Kree pod which he crashed and she entered coordinates on the computer.
"Destination: Hala." the computer said.
"I can't go back empty-handed." Yon-Rogg said.
"You won't be empty-handed. I'm sending you with a message. Tell the Supreme Intelligence that I'm coming to end it. The war, the lies, all of it." Carol said.
"You can't do this." he said and she started the spacepod, but it couldn't take off because of the damage so she fired a blast at the engine, and the spacepod finally took off.
Meanwhile Fury was inside the Quadjet holding Goose.
"That was a close call, huh, Goosey? Huh? The bad guy's still in there somewhere-" Fury said when Goose scratched his eye. "Oh! MOTHER FLERKEN!" he yelled and Bucky burst out laughed.
"Oh my god!" Bucky said trying to catch his breath.
"You okay?" Maria asked.
"Yeah. It's just a scratch." Fury said showing a serious scratch on his left eye.
"A-a scratch my ass!" Bucky said and kept laughing.
"No…" Talos said.
Later everyone was at Maria's house gathered for dinner.
"I can't believe you got into the raddest dogfight ever." Carol said.
"I'd say you arrived just in time." Maria said.
"That's some nifty flying you did out there. SHIELD could always use a good pilot like you." Fury said.
"He's right. I can try and get you in if you want." Bucky said.
"I'll consider it. As long as you don't call my flying nifty again. How's your eye?" Maria said.
"Getting better every second." Fury said and Bucky snorted.
"Sure it is Nick." Bucky said and took a sip of his drink.
"Just so I'm clear, you were Soh-Larr, and the SHIELD agent?" Carol said. "Because I believe this one seeing his dog tags." she said pointing to Bucky and his dog tags.
"Keller. Tied my boss up, stole his identity." Fury said.
"I borrowed his likene"ss. I'm no thief." Talos said.
"It's a little like thief." Soren said.
"Whose side are you on?"
"You're good to go here til you recover, but you and your family will need a new look." Fury said.
"I could go back to being your boss."
"Please don't."
"Come on. I love sporting his beautiful blue eyes."
"No he's right, besides, I have more power than anyone there. I've been a part of SHIELD since it went as SSR and knew the founders. They left me everything in it to take care of. I just decline all the offerings of a promotion." Bucky said.
"No way, you guys have the best eyes. Don't ever change your eyes." Monica said.
"I'll help you find a home. Finish what Mar-Vell started." Carol said.
"They can stay here with us, can't they, Mom?"
"They won't be safe here, baby. Auntie Carol is right. They need their own home." Maria said.
"I'll be back before you know it." Carol said.
"Maybe I can fly up and meet you halfway." Monica said.
"Only if you learn to glow, like your Auntie Carol." Fury said.
"Or maybe I'll build a spaceship. You don't know."
"He doesn't."
Later Carol and Fury were washing the dishes while Bucky left back to SHIELD after being called.
"Keep the Tesseract on Earth. Hidden." Carol said.
"You're sure that's what Marvel would want?" Fury asked.
"Mar-Vell."
"That's what I said."
"It's two words. Mar-Vell."
"Mar-Vell. Marvel sounds a lot better. You know, like the Marvelettes?" he asked. "Oh, yeah, wait a minute Mr. Postman. Ay, ay, ay, ay, Mr. Postman. Not ringing any bells?" he sang.
"Keep singing. Maybe it'll come back to me." she said and took out his pages with her symbol on it. "I upgraded it. Range should be, a couple galaxies, at least." she said and offered it to him, but before he took it, pulled it away.
"What? You think I'm gonna crank call you?"
"For emergencies only. Okay?"
"Well, if you're ever passing back through this galaxy, be sure to give a brother a shout." he said and they fist bumped, and she teasingly electrocuted him, laughing it off.
Later outside of the house Monica gave Carol her leather jacket.
"We got the ketchup stain off." Monica said.
"Thanks, Lieutenant Trouble. It's hard for me to say goodbye, too." Carol said.
"Go on." Maria said and Carol took off and flew up to Mar-Vell's laboratory, where the Skrulls were waiting for her.
She looked at the Earth one last time before flying inside the spaceship. As soon as she entered, the ship started moving at light-speed, towards other galaxies.
The next day Bucky was in his office at the computer looking at all the videos he could find including the Tesseract, HYDRA or both from WWII he could find.
"OK Zola, Schmidt, what did you do while or before we were fighting you fifty two years ago?" he muttered and hit it.
Norway, May 1942 Jan ran. Erik set a molotov down and checked his rifle. The molotov toppled on the cobblestones. The ominous clanking rise until a huge tank and the Land Krueger, crashed through a building.
Erik paled at the HYDRA logo and ran, but machine guns cut him down.
At Castle Rock Tower Jan raced toward the front door of a lonely stone tower.
Then slammed down a timber crossbeam, locking the door.
"They're coming!" Jan said and an old tower keeper rushed downstairs.
"They'll never find it." tower keeper said.
The two men turned as the ominous clanking rises outside. The land Krueger punched through the wall. Bricks timber rain down, knocking the Keeper back. When the dust subsides, the Keeper struggles to His Feet, Only to find Jan dead amidst the rubble. HYDRA troops pour in, Surrounding him.
At Castle Rock Tower a Modified car pulled up, it's hood Ornament a HYRDA Skull. Gleaming Jackboots step out onto the cobblestones.
The HYDRA Soldiers threw the Keeper down in front of a stone sarcophagus in an ornate crypt and tried but fair to push the coffin lid.
"Quickly, before he-" HYDRA Lieutenant said.
Then they heard footsteps and snapped to attention as a HYDRA officer, Johann Schmidt, stepped through the rubble. His eyes were sunken, his skin pale and waxy.
"It has taken me a long time to find this place. You should be commended." Schmidt said and stood before the tower keeper. "Give me what I want, and you will find the Reich most appreciative."
"I give you nothing." Tower Keeper said.
A HYDRA guard moved to clock the old man, but Schmidt waved him off. He leaned over the tower keeper.
"You are a man of great vision. In that, we are much alike." Schmidt said.
"I am nothing like you." Tower Keeper said.
"Oh, no, no. I don't suggest that." Schmidt said and saw his men struggling with the coffin lid. "But what others see as superstition, you and I know to be science. The oldest science."
"What you seek is just a legend."
"Then why do you try so hard to hide it?" Schmidt said and strides to the coffin.
Then he heaved the heavy lid aside and it smashed to the floor.
Inside, a desiccated corpse olds... a crystal cube.
"The Tesseract was the Jewel of Odin's treasure room." Schmidt said, turned it over in his hand, curious then dropped it on the floor and it shattered. "It is not a thing one buries." he said and lifted the old man by the shoulder, hissing in his ear. "But it is close, yes?"
"I cannot help you." the tower keeper said.
"Bo. But you can help them." Schmidt said and turned the old man to see the tank pointing at the town. "You have friends out there. Grandchildren, perhaps. I've no need for them to die."
Terrified, the tower keeper let his eyes flick to a wall.
Schmidt let the old man down and searched the wall, finally landing on the carving of a tree.
"Yggdrasil, tree of the world. Guardian of wisdom..." he said and scanned the roots, finally alighting on a serpent. "And fate." he said and pushed the snake's eye, releasing a wooden box carved like a Snake.
The old man sagged, defeated.
Then he opened the box. Blue light illuminated his face and gazed, enraptured. The old man stared, awed.
"And the Fuhrer digs for the trinkets in the desert..." he said and looked over at the old man. "You've never seen it, have you?"
"It's not for the eyes of ordinary men." tower keeper said.
"Exactly." Schmidt said and shut the box.
The light disappeared. He glanced over at the cannon, almost distractedly.
"Commence firing." he said.
A soldier called out and the cannon erupts. Enraged, the old man lunged but was held back by soldiers.
"Fool. None of us can control that power. You will burn." Tower keeper said.
"I already have."
Schmidt drew his Luger with speed. The Keeper dropped. The old man's blood spattered Schmidt's HYDRA lapel pin. His tentacle death's head was now a red skull.
When he was done Bucky sat there rubbing his forehead.
"All the way back to 42. Jesus Christ." he muttered.
Later Fury and Bucky were in Fury's office and Fury was wearing an eyepatch writing on his computer about "The Protector Initiative" when Phil Coulson entered the room with a suitcase in his hands.
"Glad to have you back, sirs. This came for you." Coulson said and Fury opened the suitcase to reveal prosthetic eyes of different colors and Bucky looked disgusted at them. "So, is it true? That the Kree burned your eye out because you refused to give them the Tesseract?"
"I'll neither confirm nor deny the facts of that story." Fury said and Bucky snickered.
"Understood. I'm sorry to report that we still haven't found the Tesseract."
"I'm sure it will turn up somewhere." Fury said and looked at Goose, now living with him.
"I'll let you know when it does."
"Then what?"
"Sir?"
"We have no idea what other intergalactic threats are out there. And our one-woman security force had a prior commitment on the other side of the universe. SHIELD alone can't protect us. We need to find more." Fury said and Bucky looked at him confused a little offended.
"More weapons?" Coulson said.
"Wait, hold on!" Bucky said.
"More heroes." Fury said.
"You think we can find others like her?" Coulson asked.
"Hey!" Bucky said but they ignored him.
"We found her and we weren't even looking." Fury said and Bucky got annoyed.
"Get some rest, sir. You got a big decision to make." Coulson said and left while Bucky looked at Fury with his arms crossed.
"Um, excuse me? SHIELD has been doing just fine since it went by SSR." Bucky said.
"I know, but what if someone comes out like her?" Fury asked.
"The Howling Commandos took down HYDRA in the 40's when Steve was leading, they took them down when I took the lead after we lost Steve and we took down plenty more! We had no technology like we have now, I didn't use my damn serum like I do now and all that. We don't need people that are like me to save our ass. Pegs, Howard and Chester would say the same." Bucky said. "If you want it, you're on your own. So leave owe out of this." he said and left slamming the door.
"You'll see. We'll need this one day Barnes. And you'll be leading them." Fury said, looked through Carol's file and found out she was nicknamed "Avenger" and decided to rename his project "The Avengers Initiative".
Later Goose jumped on Fury's desk, vomited the Tesseract on the desk and started grooming herself.
