[Log File #012 – Dark Agon, Dark Aether] With my arm cannon armed and ready, I began looking around for the source of the cry I had just heard. I spotted a dark mass moving around on the ground nearby, traveling like a fluid on a flat surface. The mass stopped, and a black creature emerged from it. My heart stopped at the sight of this beast.

This creature was similar in appearance to the ones that had attacked me shortly after arriving on Aether. Remembering the image that the Luminoth U-Mos had shown me, I knew that this beast was part of the Ing army. My scan visor quickly confirmed this theory. The creature was classified as a Warrior Ing. By that name alone, I knew I was in for a tough battle.

A strange orb appeared in the air next to the Warrior Ing. Instinctively I stepped to the side, managing to dodge the beam of energy that came from the orb. Charging my Power Beam for a few seconds I fired at the beast. The blast was a direct hit, but the creature didn't even seem phased. My combat visor locked-on to it, but the Warrior Ing morphed back into its liquid-like form. While it was moving around in this state I took the liberty to prepare my missile launcher.

The Warrior Ing morphed back into its beast form. Before I could fire any missiles it morphed again, this time into a cloud of dark particles. The cloud flew directly at me and latched onto my Varia Suit. The particles didn't stay very long, and as they flew away my visor displayed a message: "Ing possession attempt failed. All systems intact."

As the particles reformed back into the Warrior Ing I fired a volley of three missiles. They all hit their target, and the beast let out a long shriek of agony. It stumbled around a bit, then collapsed on the ground. I had killed my first real Ing.

I looked over the data obtained from my initial scan of the Warrior Ing. The log showed that all of the Ing shared a common weakness – light. While I had no knowledge of how to utilize this to my advantage at the moment, I had a feeling that I would figure it out eventually.

Closing the data file, I moved on. With each step outside of a light zone, the air of Dark Aether pressed on my body, draining my suit's energy reserves. I knew that if the meter hit zero, I'd be finished. I couldn't let that happen.

After a few minutes of exploring I found an area that looked like the spot where I had first encountered the Space Pirates on Aether. There was a Light Crystal in the center of the chamber, so I made my way to it. As soon as I entered the light zone I heard another cry, similar to the Warrior Ing I had just slain. I got ready to fight, expecting an easy fight. What I got, however, was not what I had expected…
