Sirius Black had returned from missions of the Order. Don't know why, but he felt he should take a look at Peter. Maybe he was worried about his friend, thinking this he convinced himself. Sirius had made Peter the Potters' secret keeper a few days ago, thinking that this would be his greatest move, but he didn't know how wrong that was! Anyway, Remus was also on his mind, but there were two reasons for not choosing him. Firstly, he was on a mission to get the Werewolves with him and secondly, he suspected him of being a spy even though he didn't want to. This was the reason Peter was chosen as the secret keeper. The plan was that when Sirius returned from the mission, he should tell Dumbledore that the secret keeper had been changed.
But all this went out of his mind when Peter was not found at his home. Sirius got scared and took his flying motorcycle and left straight for Godric's Hollow. Actually Potter Manor would have been chosen but due to size , it could not fit inside the Fidelius charm, and there was one more problem the manor was a secret and not even Dumbledore knew about it, James himself was a kid when he lived there as they moved to Godric's Hollow as Charles Potter , James's dad never wanted to live an isolated life in a manor because according to him , they should live in a village full of people. Charles had different views about life. James would have been told about the manor but before that the Potter elders were killed by death eaters. At present only Gringotts Goblins knew about Potter Manor.Maybe the Potters would have survived in the manor , but what's done is done. So the Potters started hiding in their Godric's Hollow cottage. And his fear turned out to be true. James and Lily were no more. There was a mark and a wound on Harry's forehead. He was crying a lot. The house was ruined.
When Harry saw this, he started crying and screaming loudly, "Unca Pafoo, Unca Pafoo!!!" Sirius was also crying but he composed himself and then pacified Harry. "No problem Harry, you have Padfoot. I will not let you happen any harm. Remember Harry, your mom and dad love you a lot. Uncle Padfoot also loves you a lot. Uncle Moony and Uncle Pet..." saying this he pacified Harry.
But now he understood, that scoundrel Peter has betrayed the Potters. There was no sign of Peter struggling at home, the bastard. Sirius mentally abused him. Then Hagrid came there. After a lot of coaxing, Sirius finally let Harry go. He had faith in Dumbledore. And he also had to settle accounts with Peter. He also gave Hagrid his motorcycle. Then he regretted that he should have told Hagrid about the secret keeper. He even tried to send a message to Patronus but he did not have the strength to gather such happy moments. He did not have any power to write a letter either. And anyway, his condition was not something to think about at that time. There was fire, pain and anger in his heart and he took the step which he should not have done.
The result was that he was arrested, Peter trapped him by cutting his finger, he ran away and even 12 Muggles lost their lives in the chaos. And if this was not enough, he was sentenced to Azkaban without trial. Sirius was sad about only one thing, now what would happen to Harry?
On the other hand, the tabby cat had become bored after sitting on the wall all day. But she was determined, finally she wanted to break the news of Lily's death to Petunia herself. Lily and James were some of her favourite with whom she had developed a bond. The Potter family also looked at her in the same way. This was the reason why Lily had even tried to get baby Harry to call Minerva 'Granma' whenever she could meet them before going into hiding. James even tried to get him to call herq 'Granma Minnie'.
James was mischievous but he was also smart and one who supported goodness. And to her horror, Harry had started calling her Gran Minnie. She had come quite close to them. After James, Lily and Sirius, she was the next one to hold Harry in her lap when he was born. As neither Lily nor James had parents alive at that time, Minerva was happy to fill in.
McGonagall was very happy and proud when she came to know that James accepted Sirius as his brother and gave him a place in his house while Sirius' own family threw him out.
She could not even imagine what would happen to Sirius now. He should not do something wrong. He would have to take the right step for Harry. But even if he didn't, who could blame him? After all, Black was destroyed in one night. His family was wiped out, but Harry was still alive, his godson.
All this was very difficult for McGonagall to believe, and after all how could she believe it, whatever she had heard was all hearsay, so until she was completely convinced, she could not tell Petunia.
And Petunia!! What a family they were, the Dursleys. Such a spoiled child, a gossiping mother, and a wicked father. She had never seen worse Muggles than this till date. It was hard to believe that Petunia was not only Lily's sister, that too her real sister.
But then she saw that Dumbledore had come, and her bad dreams were true, everything she had heard was true. She even asked Dumbledore to keep Harry with him but he did not agree and did not tell anything about Sirius either. When she insisted, Dumbledore told some stupid famous and all reason . McGonagall agreed but she did not give up, she knew that there was something else.
After they leave from there, little Harry turns on his side and tightly grabs the letter in his hand. Harry is perhaps sleeping peacefully for the last time, unaware of the coming tomorrow, unaware of the fact that the safety of an entire world will now be a burden on his shoulders, unaware that where he has lost his family, hundreds of wizards are making a toast to the Boy Who Lived. But he now had a life, full of problems and sorrows, but still there was hope.
Dumbledore found it difficult to understand what to do next. How Harry was saved was a puzzle for the others, but Dumbledore had recognised the old magic, but it was certain that Voldemort was not dead yet. Harry had to be kept safe. That's why he placed blood wards on Privet Drive, which was an old magic.
He made Severus the Potions Master and also took a statement from Severus about Harry's protection. He also gave testimony in Severus's favour, which proved that Severus was on his side. On the other hand, Fudge was made the minister. Dumbledore was sad when Sirius did not get a trial but all the evidence was against him.
Minerva had many questions in her mind. When she found out that Sirius had betrayed the Potters, she could not believe it. Dumbledore also did not tell anything. There were many questions.
One day she went to Dumbledore's office. "Albus, I came to tell you that I am going out of school for a few days." she said. "No problem. Can I know why? You have never asked me anything like this in all these years?" Albus asked. "Oh ha! I am going to meet Harry." " I am sorry Minerva but you cannot go there. And before you ask anything, keep in mind that whatever I tell you, no one should know about it. Actually Harry was saved because of Lily. Because of her sacrifice Harry is alive today. And this is the reason why Harry has to live with those Muggles. Because as long as Harry stays with a blood relative and calls their house his home, till then Harry will be safe from external threats i.e. Voldemort and his Death Eaters. But, if wizards go there then there can be weakness in the wards, Since Lily's sister is not a witch, although we can't say anything with surity about it, but Harry's life is more important than all this, so please don't take this risk. Once Harry turns 11 and his magical core is stable, then this won't be a problem, but Harry will have to stay there till the age of 17. This is the reason why I have also forbidden Remus from going there, and Remus has some personal reasons too." Now Minerva was understanding everything. She could not meet Harry even if she wanted to. And even if she writes a letter, what will she do when Harry asks her to meet him, no she will have to wait for Harry to come to Hogwarts.
"And Sirius, how can he do this and he hasn't been given a trial, Albus!!!" Minerva said on her mind. "Yes, that's it, have you heard about the Fidelius charm?" Minerva agreed, but then her eyes widened in horror, "Meaning, Sirius betrayed them?" "Yes, Minerva, that's true, that's why I didn't put much effort in getting him a trial. Crouch would not have accepted it , anyway." Dumbledore said with sadness. Minerva agreed and left. She was still wondering how Sirius could do this. Deep inside her heart she knew that Sirius was innocent.
A thought comes to his mind that whether he is doing the right thing, but it is important for Harry to be safe. Only Dumbledore knew that Harry would be the one who can kill Voldemort. For the first time he was regretting hearing this prophecy. But if it had not happened then maybe Harry would not have been there today. Even after trying a lot he could not save the lives of the Potters. Dumbledore did not want to play with Harry's life, but he did not have any other option. If only Sirius had not been a deceiver then maybe Harry's responsibility would not have fallen on him. Dumbledore sighed.
Remus was now broken, his family was destroyed. His best friends James and Peter were dead, along with Lily, and Sirius betrayed them. Harry, his beloved Harry was abandoned. If he had not been a werewolf then maybe, maybe he would have raised Harry. But no, he was afraid, still after Dumbledore's convincing, Remus agreed not to have any kind of contact with Harry. He knew that Harry's safety was very important. Now he had to spend a long life alone. How would he meet Harry even after 10 years? Maybe he had no other purpose now. And Remus decided to leave England and never thought of returning. But fate had some other plans, he never knew that in a few years fate would again take him to Harry and Hogwarts.
He has placed Harry with the Muggles hoping that he would be safe. Although he knew that Petunia did not love Lily but he hoped that at least she will treat Harry fairly if not equally, but how wrong he was! Still, Dumbledore would have to keep an eye on Harry, but how if a wizard was placed there, the wards could be in danger and if a Muggle was kept to keep an eye on him, how would he contact Dumbledore during an incident and neither would he be able to understand the magical events. Dumbledore was in a dilemma. Then he thought of his old friend Arabella Figg. Yes, she will be perfect, because she is a Squib. Finally Dumbledore found a way.
Soon Dumbledore shifted Mrs. Figg to his house in Privet Drive and asked her to keep an eye on Harry. He said that since Petunia does not like magic, she may not treat him properly, but if anything gets extreme then she should contact him.
Now Dumbledore relaxed a bit, now Harry would be safe. And even if something goes wrong then Figg will tell him, but again how wrong it was!!! The Dursleys were smarter than they appeared.

Well I am a big Hinny shipper and when I was writing my other story , which is a reaction Book I made a little changes to make it a Hinny story from start but still sticked to canon , I got this idea that what if the story would actually have taken that way but this time not to stick with canon but instead work it out in a different way. I know that I said I am busy and not uploading chapters in other story frequently but I am still there and fyi I am planning for new chapters in detail before publishing so that the story could be as perfect as possible. I have already planned about 40 chapters for Petunia story and still more are to be done and then planned to make Vial of Memoirs a less chapter story by covering each book in two or three parts while the way to Second chance as a very big 200 chapter long one.
