Title: The Attack on Carne Village
Alt Title: That was boring.
.
Got my test back. I don't have covid. Just a really bad viral infection.
.
AllahDeluxe: Um, I'm sorry? I hope you get better.
Aren Gisly: Damn! Good job! Out of curiosity, what doctorate are you going for. I have a degree in general sciences and was going for a bachelors in biology to be a zookeeper like my hero. Steve Irwin. But then the pandemic happened and my scholarship was dropped.
Aside from that what chapter of Kitsu did you leave off on?
T4ndoris: Meruem is similar to Shalltear and has a similar role in acting as a gatekeeper for the tomb. Stopping those who sneak in to steal information. As such he is a power build meant for PVP. And while his overall Base stat total is higher than Zamaina's. Zamaina has far more gear and abilities at his disposal. Most of his abilities being attacks and self buffs. In a fight, it would come down to if Zamaina could buy time to set up. Which, with his base speed. Is a guarantee.
Fernizer: Yeah, I learned it when studying ecology and how animal social structures work. Rudolph Schenkel deserves more representation! He was a true researcher! How many people do you know are willing to not only admit they're wrong, but go out of their way to prove it? All for the sake of accurate science!
As for your question. I intend to keep it close to canon in the beginning. And then drift further and further from it as the muse leads me down the path of the butterfly effect.
DancingLeaf: I study biology and animal behavior. (Not as a job sadly) so I'm well aware that with a certain degree of intelligence, comes degrees of cruelty. Wolves torment their prey during a hunt. Often only killing them just before they eat them or drag them back. African wild dogs eat their prey alive. Cats actively trophy hunt. And a recent study showed that cats aren't giving you food, they're showing off trophies. They put a camcorder on a bunch of cats and let them out into the wild. And watched as they hunted down animals. The one's they brought back? It wasn't the fattest or biggest. No, they only brought back the ones that were the hardest to kill. They're not saying 'Here human, you're so pathetic I got you this to make sure you don't wither away.' They're saying. 'Aye man! Look at this one! See how taught those muscles are!? Yeah, took me a good minute to get this fucker.'
And don't get me started on dolphins!
Rant aside, yes, Zamaina is a god. And that will come into play later on.
YeTianshi: Been awhile! In regards to your first review, what series is that? In regards to your second, I'm glad you like it.
.
Yes I am still using dots to separate because I still can't figure out how to use spaces. FFN likes squishing my paragraphs together when it's empty.

-Day 7, Carne Village-
.
.
Belius POV
.
"Urgh, so messy." I say to myself in contempt of the blood and gore everywhere. "No need to add myself, the rest have this well handled."
Soon we'll be back home, and I can add another acclaim to my name. Further proving that I'm the right choice for heir.
"Monster!" I hear one of the servants say as he runs past me.
"Oh, what is it? A goblin?" I roll my eyes as turn to.
"Hoooo by the six." I immediately turn and run with him.
Only for the giant sword to fly out and skewer the man. Surprising me and causing me to fumble.
"Ah!" I scream as I trip, rolling to my back as the monster stands above me it's blood covered sword raised. "No! Help me! Please, money, gold, land I'll give it to you! Just save me!" The sword comes down with blinding speed.
I can't die here! If I die my brother inherits the land! He'll ruin it! Squander its wealth!
In a blur. I'm no longer looking up at the abomination.
Instead. I'm looking down at it. I'm on a roof.
"So, you're their leader or something?" I hear from the man holding the collar of my armor.
"I uh, yes!" I lie, hoping my importance will encourage my savior as the hulking monster looks to me. Before turning to another and chasing him, tossing him aside with his shield. "You saved me!"
"Pathetic." The man's voice resounds.
"Huh?"
*Squelch*
Everything becomes a pulsing haze as I stare at the hand coming out of my chest.
Is that my heart?
"Even your blood reeks of piss stained cowardice." I hear as I'm shoved off the roof. Into the black void of Surshana's embrace.
.
.
James "Zamaina" Petrosky POV
.
Not even worth my time.
"Death Knight! That's enough!" Momonga calls as he floats above with Albedo.
He's wearing his mask of envy and some low tier battle mage gauntlets. As well as zipping up his gown.
I'm in my human form and wearing a bandana around my mouth. The reason for the bandana being that I intend to masquerade as an adventurer. But I can't be connected to Zamaina.
That and, Enri and Nemu were pissing themselves in my presence. Literally. As funny as it is, it's kinda counterproductive to current goals.
Momonga was against me lowering my level to sixty for this. So I have a cash shop item on hand to cut the activation time of my transformation from one minute, to five seconds. As well as a saving grace totem. A once a day divine class item that brings me back to full health should I die.
Same kind as Shalltear's. Peroroncino was so smug about getting it that I went out, grinded for fifteen hours and got two just to spite him.
Only for the lucky bastard to have gotten another in that same timeframe by pure chance.
Anyway, it's an overall loose disguise. But this isn't the age of information that was the late nineteen hundreds, early two thousands. So it should do so long as I change my outfit.
I already plan to be an archer. My hunter classes make me uniquely suited to one. Able to use a bow, just not specializing in it. Around level thirty or forty with one while human. And again, that's not taking into account my natural speed.
As Momonga and Albedo touch down. The remaining knights freeze in fear. Many looking as though they don't know whether to surrender, or flee.
Good.
Hope I can get that one's heart. The one who's shakily reaching for his sword. Cowards blood taste like shit. And he either has the bravery of a shonen protag, or the stupidity of one to reach for his sword now.
'How do I know that?' I ponder. 'Thoughts for later.'
"Lay down your arms, and return to your supervi- er, masters." Momonga slightly fumbles. "And inform them that this village is now under the protection of Ainz Ooal Goan! Anymore attacks to the village, is an attack against our great name and will be returned with utter death. Now go! And make sure all know our name."
It takes a minute for them to register. And I let loose a little Bloodlust.
"You have your orders pests." I give out a commanding tone. Irritated at having to enforce Momonga's orders on these idiots.
Bloodlust is one of my two aura abilities. The other being Hunter's intuition. One causes debuffs to the enemy, the other buffs my perception. Useful, but only one can be used at a time.
I sit down on the roof I've been on. Uncaring of the blood I'm sitting in.
The knights scamper off. Running to, wherever. Probably back home. A small part of me wants to chase after them. Seeing them run in fear, it makes my muscles tense in a way that makes my human form somehow more uncomfortable.
I ignore it obviously. Much to my own irritation.
"Who, who are you?" One of the villagers asks, snapping me out of my fixation. "Why would you save us?"
"Hrm, repaying an old debt to a friend." Momonga says. "Call it a, moral obligation."
'He's talking about Touch Me.' I realize.
I can feel the tension of the people. No need to mention see it. A strange man in strange garb and a stange mask come along with the most armored individual they've probably ever seen? Not to mention the woodsman on the roof casually watching them.
Not even an idiot wouldn't be suspicious.
"Of course I don't do this kind of thing for free." Momonga adds. "I do expect compensation."
Again, how does he have self esteem issues? Without my meta knowledge, of which most I've forgotten over my thirty odd years of new life aside from some key plot points, I'd have never thought of that.
The rest is, unremarkable. A bunch of chatter and working of which I assist some.
Mostly burying the dead. Enri and Nemu are currently crying over the graves of their dead parents. And, I feel bad. Not, not like that.
I went out of my way to save Enri, she's mine. Like a pet. And no one likes it when their cat or dog is depressed.
But, as I get closer. Something, odd happens.
The closer I get to the graves. I, see things. Runes appearing on the stones. Runes I can read. And a misty fog on the ground. It's not there when I step back, and it appears clearer the closer I get.
As I step behind Enri, I see it in full.
(Don't mourn me my dears. Though I am happy that you care so greatly for me. I am overjoyed you are safe.)
And the one next to it.
(You are safe, thank all that is holy and right in the world. I can rest easy knowing you'll live on.)
It's the final well wishes of the dead. They had no regrets, save for not being able to see them grow old.
I kneel beside them. Not saying anything as they cry.
After all. There's nothing to say.
.
.
-Later, sunset-
.
.
"So basically, less trapped, more isekai?" I ask Momonga, who just got done speaking with the village chief.
Though I already know the answer.
"It would appear so." He says.
"I'm sorry my lords, I'm not sure I follow." Albedo says. "What is, isekai?"
"Umu, Zamaina is more the expert in this field." Momonga says. "He has more, acclaim in it than I."
Which is his way of saying. 'I don't know, but he does.'
You learn to see through bullshit like that when you attend weekly business negotiations for more than a decade straight. Four out of five times it's to save face. The rest is just the person you're dealing with being lazy. And a good three fourths of them all are incompetent.
"Isekai is a phenomenon that was, I guess you could say more, prevalent?" I try the term. "Yes, that works. It was more prevalent a rough century ago. To put it simply. It details a phenomenon where individuals or groups are moved from one world, to another. Often against their will and knowledge, and more often than not, with no way back."
"That seems, I'm not sure how to process that." Albedo says.
"All things considered. We're rather lucky." I say. "Rarely is a group isekai'd. And even rarer is that they stay so whole. That the entirety of Nazarick was transported, tomb and all. Is a blessing."
"I was under the assumption that groups were more common?" Momonga says.
"No, just more, well documented." I stress to keep the discussion more audience inclined.
"Hey there." One of the villagers greets as he carries a log past us.
We watch him pass. And Momonga turns to address Albedo.
"You don't much care for humans, do you?" He asks.
"What's there to like?" She says. "They're pathetic and weak. Even their strongest and smartest can barely reach a passing minimum. Well, save for a very few."
'She must be talking about Aureole, Tsukune, and Komugi.' I realize.
It's no secret that Tsukune was originally human. But it's not exactly public either. Albedo being the Guardian Overseer would know of his lore. And everyone knows about Komugi. Even if there are those who have, mixed, feelings over it.
"Hmm, not surprising." I say impassively. "Personally I see them as animals. They make for fun prey, and cute pets."
"I suppose everything does have its use." She says.
"Albedo, I want you to treat these humans with kindness." Momonga says. "Act if you have to."
"It'll be good practice." I add. "What with how we're bound to interact with them more in the future."
"You're right my Lords!" She says reverently with a bow.
'Damn, NPC's and their zealotry.' I think with annoyance.
Don't get me wrong. I like the attention and worship. But, it gets a little, over the top sometimes.
"Still, we can't hold off any more." I hear in the distance.
Looking over to the sound. I focus in on the chief with a group of villagers. All discussing current, and arriving, issues.
"Hmm, it seems that if it isn't one thing. It's another." Momonga says as he walks towards the group. "What seems to be the matter gentlemen?!"
"Ah Lord Momonga." The Village Chief says with a smile.
That's another thing. Because I'm here, he never took up the name Ainz Ooal Goan for himself. So he's still going as Momonga.
Which means flying squirrel! Ha! At least my name is cool!
It's a just Lighting with the syllables flipped around and a single letter changed. Inazuma, Zamaina.
"Gather everyone to your house." Momonga says after the chief explains the situation. "Zamaina."
"Hmm, whatcha need boss?" I ask.
"I'd like for you to hide on one of the nearby roofs." He says. "Keep an eye on the chiefs house. Shoot down any you believe to be approaching with, unsavory intent."
"Running security." I say. "Got it."
It only takes a single jump to find a roof I can blend in with. Though, as I jump I just feel, wrong.
I hate this human form! I'm so constrained and weak. I feel like I'm sick. Like, despite knowing how fast and strong I am. My body just won't reach that level. It's frustrating as all hell.
Sooner we're done here, the better.
I watch as all the villages pile into the chief's house. And I hold back a chuckle at how silly it seems. I can't explain it.
Regardless, I take out my bow and go prone.
My classes actually lend me a lot of leeway when it comes to using weaponry. I'm a bit of a jack of all trades, master of none so long as it's ranged or bladed. Except for bearded axes and gauntlets. Those are my specialty.
I tried to swing a warhammer a few days ago in the arena. It slipped right out my hands and flew into the nearby forest.
I watch and listen as Gazef rides up to Momonga and the village chief. I can almost hear them. But not quite. What I do notice, is the unnatural movement in the tree line to the distance. Focusing on that, I see small specks of light flashing, as well as white against the green and brown.
"That's cute." I find myself grinning. "They think they're being slick."
[Yo, Momo.] I message.
[Zamaina? What is it? You didn't get trigger happy and shoot a knight did you?] He asks.
[Nah, not yet anyway. Don't tempt me.] I tease. [Just thought you should know there're a bunch of guys in robes in the forest to the south. They think they're being stealthy.]
[Ah, much appreciated.] He says. [Do you believe them to be from the group earlier? Or with this one?]
[Okay, one, you can drop the regal act. It's just me. Two, earlier. They look like they're preparing spells and crap.]
[Sorry, once I get into it, it's kinda hard to stop.] He says. [Thanks for the info though. And it seems the chief warrior, that's the guy with the shiny armor, is here to protect the people by the way.] Momonga says as he breaks character.
[He got a name?] I ask.
[Gazef? I think it was.] He says.
[Cool, whatdya want me to do?] I ask.
[Hmm, wait where you are.] He says. [I need to think. Keep an eye on the mages and let me know anything noteworthy.]
[Got it.] I say and cut the line.
And so. I wait.
About an hour later Gazef is riding into battle. And I pull out a scrying orb to record it.
They're in game, game footage recorders with a decent amount of storage. Almost no one got them. The Divegear could record on its own so all you were doing by buying a scrying orb was saving storage space.
Now they can be used here to record events!
And the other guild members laughed at me when I paid for these! Who's laughing now you jerks! I'm in dream land with a fantasy camcorder!
…
I miss them.
…
Back to the fight and away from my depressive thoughts. I watch as jumps off his horse and attacks an angel.
This would be a lot more impressive if it didn't seem so slow to me.
Before long, about four minutes, his entire squad is dead. And he's all that's left against twenty something angels. Don't get me wrong, he's putting up one hell of a fight. But he is by no means winning.
[Zamaina. Do you have visual?] Momonga messages.
[Front row seat to the new asshole Gazef is being torn.] I say.
[Pfft, pah ha, oh, okay that, hmm damn. Anyway, I'm about to switch in with him.] He says.
[Contingency totem?] I ask.
[Yep.]
A cheap gacha item that only works in open world. Basically a swap places button with a ten minute cooldown that can't be reduced. Great for strategy, if you can pull it off.
I sit here and wait as Momonga is wordlessly swapped with Gazef. No light, no sparkle effect. Just, pop. Gazef is now Momonga and Albedo.
'Why did she swap as well?' I question. 'In game it only works with one person at a time.'
Again, questions for later.
[Keep an eye out.] Momonga says, switching to leader mode. [Stay on the line.]
[Got it.]
I watch as Momonga utterly stomps the opposition. It's so sad, it loops back around to being funny. Just, one spell and all the angels die. They're panicking now and launching spell after spell.
And one mage decides to say 'Fuck it.' And grabs a fucking rock. Okay, I get desperation and all that, but if the veritable seizure procedure that was your flurry of spells didn't work.
What made you think throwing a ROCK would do anything!
[BOOM! Headshot!] I call as Albedo steps in and bats a homerun onto the guys face.
[Pfft, come on man. I'm trying to be cool here.] Momonga chuckles.
[Hey, I call it as I see it. Let Albedo know that was an awesome shot.] I mentally shrug.
…
[She says she's honored to, hang on. The guy with the weird eyes is talking.] Momonga stops as he looks up to the guy.
[What about?] I ask after a bit.
[Just wanted to know who you were, that junk and all. He's kinda freaking out.]
[What'd you tell him?] I ask.
[That we had a sharpshooter in the village who can speak telepathically. By his reaction, [Message] is not a well known spell.] Momonga explains.
[Good, gives us a major advantage.] I say.
[He doesn't believe me.] Momonga says.
[Good, I was bored anyway.] I say and nock an arrow.
Then put it back and nock three for the hell of it.
And, go.
Three, two, one.
Three of the mages drop.
[Nice!] Momonga says. [Holy crap I think he's pissing himself.]
As Momonga relays that. The blonde guy sends his Principality of Observation after Momonga.
'Seriously!?' I think to myself.
Principality of Observation is a support class! Hell! It's attacking power is on par with the Archangel Flames. Just higher defense and health with lower speed.
[This guy's an idiot.] I transmit.
[More like desperate.] Momonga replies.
A hellfire spell later and it dissipates.
And he brings out a crystal.
[Shit, might need you soon. If this is a Seraphim then I'm out.] Momonga says.
[Preparing my Hourglass] I say as I grab my cash shop item. Ready to transform and tear shit up.
Albedo guards Momonga as they summon the angel. Gotta say, IRL it looks impressive. But still. All flashy and feathery.
But still. Even though I knew this would be, anticlimactic. It still doesn't lessen my disappointment.
[Hey Momo.] I say tiredly.
[Yeah?] He asks in the same tone.
[I'm just gonna grab the guy. Take him back to Neferpitou and Neuronist for questioning.] I say as I hop down from the roof.
[Yeah, okay. See you there.] He says as he cuts the line.
"Fuggin, gettin my hopes up. Piece of shit." I mumble as I put my bow away.
I trudge over to the field where the light show is going on. Smite, black hole, blah blah blah.
I activate my invisibility as I get close and Momonga takes off his mask.
The guy pisses himself as he begs for his life.
"Shut up before I kill you." I say as I grab his neck and open a gate to the tenth floor.
Security measure. Only those with a guild ring can teleport inside the tomb. And the only location that can be accessed from the outside through teleportation is the throne room.
And only those with the throne rooms coordinates can teleport to it.
"See ya later." I say with a wave as I walk through the swirling purple vortex.
I step into the throne room. Eight edged assassins already surrounding the man as two of the homunculus hide behind pillars and CZ212 Delta aims her assault rifle at the man.
"At ease." I say.
CZ212 Delta then aims her gun at me.
"Move and you die." She says.
'Cute.' I think in agitation before remembering I'm still in my human disguise.
"Drop your weapon Delta." I say as I start shifting back.
She does so. Literally dropping the rifle as she prostrates herself.
"I'm sorry my lord." She says monotonously. "Please, take my life as payment for my actions."
"I will not." I say, feeling much better now that I'm not so, constrained. "You were doing your job. For that, you will never be punished."
"M-m-m-monster!" The human cries in terror as he stares at me.
"At least say something creative." I say as I grab him. "Delta, I'd like this area cleaned."
I teleport to Neuronist Painkill's tortu- special questioning room.
"Hmm?" Her warbled voice sounds out as she looks to me and away from her instruments. "Oh my! Lord Zamaina! Your radiance and beauty! Oh, to grace me as such, I am humbled in your presence."
She finishes with a clumsy bow.
Oh yeah, when I'm human. Neuronist is a maybe on my list. And a part of dies knowing that.
"Neuronist, I'm sure you're eager to serve." I say with a grin as I hold up the still sputtering man.
"Freaks! Abominations! My gods will wipe your kind from-" I tune him out.
"Oh my!" She says, bringing her perfectly manicured nails to her mouth. "Is that for me? Oh Lord Zamaina you know just how to treat a lady."
"Well, I was figuring you and Neferpitou could work on him together."
She deflates a bit at that.
"Of course my lord. Two is more effective than one." She says.
"Of course, it'll still take some, hang on." I say and pinch the mans jaw. Crushing his back molar, nerve and all.
He wouldn't stop talking! It was distracting. I much prefer the white noise. Easier to tune out.
"Right, where was I. Oh yeah! I still need to go get Neferpitou, nothing says you can't have some, pleasure before business." I say as I toss the man to her.
"Oh!" She exclaims. "Hello there handsome. Lets have some fun before I have to work? What say you sweetie?"
"AAAAAAAGH!"
"Oh, such a handsome voice." She says as she walks away with him.
"Have fun you two!" I wave before teleporting to the third floor palace.
I land in the entrance hall of the palace. Though, it's a palace in the same way as the ninth floor is. Structured in a way that a palace would be. But it's just and extension of the tomb with no outdoors.
Though there are windows with illusions to give the impression of an outside. Don't try to go through them though.
I still have that footage of a level fifty jumping through one to escape Menthuthuyoupi. Only to wind up with Kyouhukou.
Or I did! Fuck! I transferred it to my dive gear!
Oh well.
I walk through the halls of the palace. Ornate in most places. But there are areas that show a state of disrepair. Tapestries hanging from the walls, all detailing the adventures of Ainz Ooal Goan. Designed by Yamaiko and Tabula. All apart of the aesthetic.
I pass several of the pop spawns. Zombies. All coded to look like human soldiers infected with a fungal virus. Cordyceps to be exact. A few of the more intelligent spawns bow as I pass.
I pass a few low level area guardians as well. So of mine. Like the level twenty kiwi bird in a ninja outfit that kept throwing darts at me. Some belong to the others in the guild. Like that abomination of a hentai rape fetish Luci * fer made that patrols the dungeons.
Eugh. He made it after Tabula made Nigredo. Purely to piss off several people in the guild. And it worked.
So, stay out of the dungeons if you don't want every hole you have to be defiled. And then have new holes made to just to be deflowered. And then eaten.
I'm making myself sick.
I come across Neferpitou's room. An area with torn tapestries and ruined pillars. All set to conceal Neferpitou as she controls the area and targets those from cover.
As I reach the center of the dimly lit room. I sense her. Neferpitou is a Chimera. So she has a mix of abilities from other races. The key ones being enhanced perception, acrobatics, darkvision, targeted telepathy that only works with others who have it, (A mind flayer passive) and a few others I can't remember. But the important ones are the stealth passives.
"You can come out." I say as I look at her.
Hidden behind a tapestry. She pokes her out. Before bounding to me on all fours and stopping before me. Rolling onto her back with her arms and legs curled up.
"Yes master~" She says playfully with a blush.
…

Bio- The most dedicated of the royal guards. Shaiapouf is a man of meticulous planning and great intellect. Everything he does is through an unquestioning loyalty to his King and the Great Tomb of Nazarick. Despite his intelligence, Shaiapouf is exceedingly arrogant and prideful. Believing that any and all not directly created by the Supreme Ones of Ainz Ooal Goan are inherently inferior.
As such he greatly dislikes Komugi, who he views as an intruder. But will not act against her, for despite his personal feelings. He would never take an action that he knows would displease his masters.
Through this same logic, he has an indifference towards Gargantua. Knowing that, while not a created being. Is more a tool.
Shaiapouf is intelligent enough to recognize his flaws. And as such has a great insecurity over them. With a tendency towards being overly critical of himself. Hyper fixating on any perceived failures he may have committed. As such, he constantly strives to improve himself in every way he can. For every one failure, he needs at least ten successes of equal or greater measure to make up for it.
It is through this insecurity that he has become a master of every string and woodwind instrument. As well as having mastered painting in the style of Rococo, Fauvism, Realism, Romanticism, and Watercolor.
A master orator and highly skilled at organization. He strives for nothing else than praise from his masters.
In battle, Shaiapouf is a trickster. Using mind control as well as illusions of sight and sound to trick the enemy towards various ends. Leading them to traps and turning allies on each other.
He finds great pleasure in serving his masters. And in outsmarting lesser beings.
He'd be counted as one of Nazaricks geniuses if not for his insecurities holding him back.

Bio- The most unquestioning of the royal guards. Menthuthuyoupi masquerades as the most emotional and violent of the royal guards. However, he is in fact the most calm and methodical. His raging and violent outburst are a disguise he uses against enemies. Only his allies know his true, calculating nature.
Philosophical, reflective, and emotionally unintelligent. Menthuthuyoupi does not understand personal desire. All he understands are his orders, and that's all he needs to understand.
Though he usually lacks any form of initiative. If he believes it's for his King or the Great Tomb of Nazarick. He will do it. As such if not given an order, he will usually be found standing or sitting guard in his area. Or rearranging it to better look like he threw a tantrum.
In battle, he attacks as though he is a raging beast. Lashing out wildly and screaming almost incoherently. This is all a rouse. He is meticulously attacking enemies and destroying cover. Routing and shepherding them into his path though a series of attacks while disguising it as an outrage in a series of events that requires a level of multitasking few can match without his single-minded dedication.
He has no strong feelings towards others outside of loyalty for his allies. Devotion to his King and Ainz Ooal Goan. And a cold, seething hatred for those who would make themselves enemies of the tomb.

Chimera is a homebrewed race class I came up with. Each level in it allows you to take a trait from another race and add it to your character. So long as your overall level allows for it.
Examples being things like, Darkvision, Waterbreathing, Wings, Immunity to poison. So long as they are basic or advanced race traits and not rare, epic, or unique. And you get the leveled equivalent. The trade off being that you don't get any other race classes and it's capped at twenty.
