It all happens very quickly. The blue can't even defend himself. Felix is very skilled with a knife and knows how to defeat his opponent quickly.
The blue falls to the ground without a word. His hand runs over the wound as if he can't believe what has just happened. He wants to say something to Felix, but the blues voice turns into a cough.
He hears rattling from one of the quarters. "Don't make such a noise, man." Someone yawns, annoyed. The blues scream earlier must have woken another blue one. Felix knows it's time to make a run for it.
He's a little annoyed that he can't even check who he actually stabbed. Is it Tucker or Church, Felix wonders.
But then the door starts to open and Felix runs off. His disguise, the white bed sheet, gets caught on something. Felix curses quietly. The holes he had cut into it as eyes have slipped and he can no longer see anything. In addition, the sheet almost slipped off his head.
"What's going on?" someone asks. The voice is still far enough away. Felix is sure that the person has only spotted the blue on the ground. He should be far enough away.
Nevertheless, time is running out. He carefully pulls on the corner oft he fabric, that is stuck. The white sheet tears, but only in one small place. Finally he can continue running.
"Stop right there, you ... you ghost," someone shouts at that moment.
A blue comes running around the corner.
Damn, he's carrying a gun.
Felix keeps running. He holds the bed sheet as tightly as he can so that it doesn't fly off as he sprints. A bullet shoots past him and hits the concrete wall of the blue base. Felix runs around the corner. He has to take the other exit. Because Caboose could still be sitting at the entrance, where he came from. The exit finally comes into view.
Outside, idaybreak has already begun. Visibility is good enough for Felix to continue running at full speed without tripping over stones or anything similar.
He can't just run to the blue base, because his pursuer might guess his identity. So he heads for the secret rocky path he found on his last trip to the blue base. There is a cave system, he has seen on his last adventure. He didnt explore it back then, but Felix is sure, that there he can easily shake off the blue.
His pursuer has now given up aiming properly. He just shoots wildly. He has to reload again and again, which slows him down a little. But his pursuer is fitter and faster than Felix would have expected.
Another barrage of bullets whizzes past him. Much closer this time. A bullet rushes past, just a few centimetres from his arm. It tears a hole in the waving sheet.
"I hit it, im sure! How can that be? The Bullet went through it" The pursuer shouts, panting.
When Felix finally reaches the cave, he begins to run through the corridors seemingly at random.
But he remembers exactly which turns he has taken. After all, he wants to find his way out again later.
It will not be difficult for him to find his way out, because in Chorus he had also found countless secret passages in the underground base. Nobody knew about those hidden caves and tunnels except him. This meant he could always disappear unnoticed, when he had meetings with Locus or his employer. So he has a lot of practice navigating a dark cave system.
As he ventures deeper inside, the darkness is illuminated by blue fluorescent algae. Shortly afterwards, he finds a large cave room. In the middle is a small pond with clear, turquoise-blue water that glows strangely in the light of the algae. Almost like Chorus, he thinks melancholy. But why should he miss a place like this?
The blue one takes a dumber approach at the situation. He follows Felix he quickly becomes confused by Felix's unpredictable path through the cave system. Felix hears him mumbling to himself again and again. Things like: "I thought there were no ghosts." Or "Did the ghost vanish into thin air."
Felix finds a dark corner where no algae are growing. He pulls the bed sheet off his head and hides it behind him. Because the white is the easiest thing to see in the dark. The black of his underarmor suit is more suitable for hiding in the dark. He is pleased to see that he has almost completely merged with the shadow.
He checks again to make sure, that there are no footprints leading to his hiding place. But there are no traces on the stone floor, that could give him away.
The blue would have to get very close to him, in order to see him.
If that happens, Caboose will be the last blue left alive. It's almost a shame, because then the reds no longer have a real challenge. They could definitely handle Caboose without him, Felix thinks.
It's getting a little cold. Without the full life support system of his armor, temperature regulation also fails.
Nevertheless, Felix leans against the cool stone wall. Because the coolness at least alleviates his throbbing headache a little.
In fact, after a short while the blue enters the cave. Good thing Felix hid.
It's definitely safer than hoping that he doesn't accidentally bump into the blue in the cave system.
The shimmering red light is reflected in the turquoise armor of the blue.
Tucker… Felix thinks. He's not sure whether to be happy or angry. This means he stabbed Church, like he planned.
Felix wonders if Tucker will be sad now. But Tucker deserves it, right? After all, Locus only turned against him because of the Reds and Blues. It was only because of Tucker that he lost his most important ally. So it's only fair, that Tucker loses someone too. Tucker should feel just as alone as Felix does.
But somehow the whole situation doesn't feel as good as he expected. Felix wonders why. Did he act rashly? Maybe he should have monitored the situation for a while and act later?
Felix isn't sure why he doesn't feel excited about his successful plan. Maybe he's just tired.
Tucker holds the pistol at the ready and waves it back and forth as he looks around. His gaze also briefly falls in the direction of Felix's hiding place. But he doesn't notice him.
"F…. That's crazy. A ghost? But I saw it myself. What do I do now. And why am I so stupid and still run after this thing? What if it gets to me too? Nobody will find me here. Then it can eat me undisturbed or whatever ghosts do," Tucker thinks, shaking his head in frustration.
To a certain extent, Tucker is right, Felix thinks. Nobody would actually find him here. But Felix isn't in the mood for more revenge right now. Another time, he thinks to himself.
A drop of water falls from the ceiling onto Tucker's helmet. He looks up. "Oh how beautiful," Tucker exclaims and stares at the glowing ceiling. More bright algae grow here. In the places where they are not, the pond reflects a whirling pattern that seems to be constantly moving. "How nice. I can definitely impress chicks with this. Hopefully they'll send a woman to the Canyon sometime. Then I bring her here and hehe Bow-chicka – wow-wow…. "Hopefully the ghost doesn't bother me…" Tucker thinks to himself.
Typical for Tucker, thinks Felix and grins. Even in the past, he's still the same stupid blue guy.
