I don't know if anyone paid attention to it but Colette tried to hit Linguini twice in the movie, once actually do it. The second time when he said that Remy is controlling him during cooking, she raised her opened hand like she wanted to hit him. But did she have a good reason to do it? Where did she get that habit from? That story explains my theory and point of view.
