A\N: Okay, so I'm not the only person who ships Clary and Alec together seeing as I've read several of fics that have Clalec as the main pairing. I know in the books and TV show, Clary ends up with Jace and Alec ends up with Magnus, but the actors who play Clary and Alec in Showhunters have amazing chemistry, even more so than they're romantic partners.

I have several Calec stories planned in my head, some oneshots, some multi-chapter. But for my first Clalec story. I hope you enjoy my first Clalec oneshot, Angels.

She left without telling anyone, she left unarmed with only her phone, her headphones, her Stele and one tiny Seraph dagger to defend herself, should she need to.

She isn't in the Institute, he's looked everywhere for her: her room, Izzy's room, the training room, the greenhouse, the Ops centre, the roof, even all the little alcoves she finds to sit in and draws. She's not anywhere, and he's starting to get worried about her. He knows he can easily track her using a tracking Rune but he knows she would hate that. And she obviously left to get some space, and after everything that's happened to her, after everything that he's done to her, the girl deserves some time alone.

He whips out his phone, goes to his contacts and scrolls to her name and presses it, holding the phone up to his ear. The phone rings and rings before her voicemail reaches his ears.

Hey, you've reached Clary-

He hangs up mid voicemail and groans, pocketing his phone. "Where are you, Fray?" He asks himself before it comes to him. She was raised as a Mundane. The places he's been looking are in the Institute, a place she's only been living in for a few months, she lived in the Mundane world for 18 years. He needs to think about the places she spent time in her world. Starting with the Brooklyn Academy of Art. The place she retreats to when the Shadow World gets too much for her, something that only he, Magnus, Izzy, Luke and Simon know.

Walking out of the Institute with his bow and arrows glamoured on his back, the eldest Lightwood boy sets out to search for the redheaded girl who was once a pain in his ass, and bring her home.

Alec growls as he sees the empty art room at The Brooklyn Academy of Art, but smiles slightly at the painting in front of him. It's a Fray original: it's of the New York Institute from her eyes, from how she sees it from her point of view. So she has been here, her comfort place for when things in the Shadow World get too much for her. He felt honoured when she told him that this is her safe place as she called it. But he suspects that she only told him in case they needed her and she wasn't at the Institute. Walking over to the painting and drawing a Rune on the top corner, Alec watches as the painting goes to the Institute, before he leaves the Brooklyn Academy of Art.

He checks everywhere she mentioned she liked to hang out before she discovered the Shadow World: the coffee shop, Java Jones, the park, the police station, Simon's house, no Clary Fray/Fairchild/Morgenstern at any of them.

There's one place he hasn't checked, the one place he knows she could be, but memories of what happened last time flood his mind.

That's why you need to check the loft. In case she's hurt. One part of his brain tells him. Of course she's hurting, just not physically. The other half of his brain shoots back.

Making up his mind, Alec makes his way to the loft, hoping he finds Fray there. If she's there, he has no idea where she is.

He uses an Unlocking Rune to unlock the door and makes his way to the loft. His footsteps are the only noise as he enters the still destroyed loft. He walks to her bedroom and sees Clary looking at her burned bedroom. His heart goes out to the redhead. She's had her world turned upside more times than he can count.

"Fray." He says, leaning against the door frame. Clary turns around and their eyes meet. Blue and green lock together, tears are falling down her face, her red hair is in a ponytail. She looks a mess.

"Alec, what are you doing here?" She asks. Alec sighs and crosses his arms over his chest.

"You left the Institute." He answers simply. Clary nods, turning her head, breaking their eye contact. "I'm sorry. I just needed to be out of the Institute." She says, It's him who nods now.

"Don't apologise." Alec says, walking towards her. "You okay?" He asks, he knows she's not okay, the entire Institute knows she's not okay, but sometimes people need to be asked whether or not they're okay.

Clary scoffs and leaves her scorched and blackened bedroom, Alec following her. She goes to sit on the couch. "I have no idea what the hell I'm doing, Alec. My mom is dead, it's not your fault so don't even try to apologise. You were possessed by a demon that Valentine made sure would infiltrate the Institute undetected, Valentine is my father, Jace is my brother, my best friend is vampire, the man who helped raise me turns into a werewolf which is an overgrown puppy, and my mom had Magnus erase any and all memories of a world which I never knew about. I'm an art student, Alec, not a Shadowhunter. Maybe I should leave the Shadow World, maybe Magnus would erase my memories again. I don't belong anywhere, Alec. Maybe Jace should've let me die when that Eidolon demon attacked me." The way Clary's speaking chills the eldest Lightwood to the bone.

He's never heard her speak like this before and it scares him. He looks at her, his blue eyes narrowing. He doesn't know what to say so he moves closer to her and wraps an arm around her shoulder, smiling when she curls into his side.

"You do belong in the Shadow World, Clary." Alec murmurs to her. Clary shakes her head as tears start to fall down her face.

"I'm alone, Alec. My mom is dead, my brother doesn't want anything to do with me, my best friend is a vampire and has his own stuff to deal with, Luke is running the largest wolf pack on the East Coast." Alec just sighs as his lips brush over her ponytailed hair.

"You're not alone, Clary. You have Izzy, you have Magnus," he winces when he says his ex's name. "And you have me. I'm not going anywhere." He tells her softly. Clary nods against him.

"Thank you for coming after me, Alec." The redhead says as she gets off the couch. "I'll always come after you, Fray." He says. He lets a smile grace his lips when he watches the youngest Fairchild scurry around the loft, picking things up. He gets up off the coach, following her to her mothers room where she runs to the closet, taking clothes and shoes and perfumes and the pillowcase off the pillow on her mothers bed before closing the door and locking it with a Locking rune.

Taking her Stele out of her boot when they return to the living room, a backpack full of things from around the loft, Clary creates a portal, holding out her free hand which he slips his palm into, wrapping his fingers around her hand.

"Ready to go home, Fairchild?" Alec asks, Clary gives him a smile that lights up the entire room as she takes in her former home one last time.

"Take me home, Lightwood." She replies.

Together, hand in hand, Alec Lightwood takes Clary Fairchild back home.

The portal dumps them in a heap on the floor in Alec's room.

The first thing she notices about Alec's room is that it's tidy.

The second thing she notices about Alec's room is that the painting she did at the art school is on his bed.

Alec releases her hand and helps her to her feet, bending down to retrieve the backpack, handing it to her. Clary puts the backpack on her shoulders before looking into Alec's blue eyes.

"Thank you for coming after me, Alec." She says quietly before stepping towards him. Alec gives her his smile.

"You know I'll always come after you, whether you want me to or not." He says, Clary leans forward and captures his lips in hers and kisses him softly, he hesitates for a second before he kisses her back.

The kiss is over before it really begins and before Alec can speak, Clary flees the room, going to her own and locking the door and breathing heavily.

"What the hell have I done?" She asks herself as the kiss replays in her head over and over again.

Clary's avoiding him. She has been for the last three days, since she kissed him in his bedroom. He's tried cornering her but she always turns and runs back the way she came. He's spent the last three days battling his feelings for the girl who his ex-boyfriend watched grow up and loves like his own, his little sister sees like a sister and is his Parabatai's little sister. The dark haired boy likes the redhead, and not like another sister, not anymore.

It wasn't Magnus he loved, it was Clary Fairchild, the pain in his ass, the girl he would go after any day of the week, the girl who made throw the rules he's spent his whole life following out the window. He loved Clary Fairchild and he didn't even know it until she kissed him.

He's in the Ops centre when he spots her walking and laughing with Izzy, Izzy's phone in her hand. Now's your chance. His brain tells him.

He walks up to the two girls, hooks his arms around Clary's waist and kisses her in front of the entire New York Institute. Much like he did three days ago, Clary hesitates before kissing him back and loops her arms around his neck. They tune out the cheers and claps coming from the Shadowhunters around them, particularly Izzy.

It's Clary who breaks the kiss, leaning her forehead against his, staring into his eyes.

"I love you, Clarissa Fairchild." Alec says, Clary smiles, biting her lip.

"I love you too, Alexander Lightwood." Clary replies before kissing him again. God he could kiss her for eternity.

The two of them don't see Izzy with her cell phone in her hand, recording everything.

Epilogue- 3 years later:

She has two new rings adorning her finger, and two new permanent runes on her body, one on the back of her hand and one over her heart. (Alec wanted her to have the Mundane wedding as well as the Shadowhunter one, because she came from both worlds.)

Clary Fairchild-Lightwood-Fray (she kept the Fray to honour her mother who gave up her life to make sure she was protected from her father) spots her husband with a little girl on his hip, talking to Luke with Simon, Magnus, Izzy and Jace in the Ops centre.

She walks over to her family and kisses her daughter on the cheek and gives her husband a long kiss.

"Mmm, that was one good good morning kiss, everything okay?" Alec asks, concern shining in his blue eyes. Clary nods and leans her head on his shoulder.

"Everything is perfect." The redheaded Shadowhunter says. "I'm just thankful that you went after me and brought me back home three years ago." She tells her husband who hands their daughter to Grandpa Luke and stares at her with all the love in the world.

"I will always go after you and bring you home, kicking and screaming if I have to, Clarissa Fairchild-Lightwood-Fray." Her husband tells her firmly before kissing her like he did three years ago in the Ops centre.

Alexander Lightwood is so damn happy he went looking for his now wife and brought her back home three years ago.

A\N: This is my first Calec oneshot! Even though I love Clace and Malec, I think Calec had a lot of potential especially in the TV show.

Next Thursday is Halloween so Shadowhunters is the perfect show to watch, and I'm spending my Halloween watching one of the best and underrated TV shows ever and writing more Calec stories. I already have two more on the go while writing this Author's note.

I hope you Angels have a good weekend and enjoy my first Calec oneshot.
