Hello! I'm sorry for not updating any of my previous fics, but this idea came to mind and next thing I knew I'd already written 3000+ words about it so... yeah... So, I hope you enjoy this little brain baby I had!

Anyway, leave a like and review if you have anything to say. Constructive criticism is appreciated, but please try to avoid flaming. Don't just say "This fic is boring" or "Well this fic sucks" or something like that. I've gotten a few reviews like that, and they aren't very helpful; they can also be hurtful. Say what you found boring or didn't like, and maybe suggest a way you feel it could be fixed. If possible, also include positive things so it doesn't just feel like you're tearing into someone.

For example: "The suspense got really intense this chapter, and I loved the soft moment between the two lovebirds! I can't wait to see what happens next. However, I feel like some of the characters are a bit too repetitive. You don't need to state their goals every other line and include it in every conversation, or randomly bring up their tragic backstory every few sentences. A little repetition is fine, but there is a point where it makes the characters feel kind of flat. Otherwise, I enjoyed this chapter, and I hope you have a nice day!"

Being respectful and thoughtful in your reviews can really make a writer's day, and it can also help them improve so they can release better content. Getting a post like "Nice fic" or "I love this" is fine, and there's nothing wrong with doing so, but if there's something you found that you particularly liked, or if there's something you notice, leave it in your review. In my opinion, it makes that review really stand out in a good way.

Now, moving on from my mini comment-coaching session, I do genuinely hope you enjoy this chapter!

Chapter 1: "Rebirth and the Horrors of Being a Baby With Awareness"

It came to him more as a feeling than anything. One moment he was peacefully relaxing on the bolder Tanjiro had split just a few days ago, and the next, a sudden peace washed over him like a gentle wave.

It wasn't just him, either. All the other murdered children had also felt it if the relieved laughs and sighs were anything to go by. It was at this point Sabito just knew that he, Makomo, and the rest of Urokodaki's children had been avenged.

The hand demon had been defeated.

One by one, the children started to fade, passing on to the afterlife, the next life, or whatever awaited them on the other side. Sabito let himself smile beneath his mask as the kids moved on. Some had died younger than others, and it felt nice to see the younger ones finally get their chance to move on to what was hopefully a better place.

He'd gotten the chance to learn their names during his time as a ghost child, and they had all grown close, bonding over their love of Urokodaki and their shared demise via the hand demon. The more morbid ones of the group even compared deaths, and there was a small competition going on between them to decide whose death was the most gruesome. At the moment a kid named Takeshi was winning, apparently.

Sabito would miss these kids. Maybe they'd see each other on the other side?

Makomo, who was standing in her favorite spot beside the boulder, smiled her usual calm smile, but her shoulders, formerly holding a slight tenseness, had relaxed. He could see in her eyes that she was happy and relieved like the rest.

As she faded and walked off to the unknown that awaited them all, she sent him a gentle smile of reassurance.

Sabito returned the smile, even if she couldn't see it, watching her back as she walked off.

Unlike the others, he stayed a moment, looking back at the clearing he and Giyuu had played in, fought in, trained in, loved in...

Nothing too adult, of course, they were still kids, but the night before Final Selection, Sabito had gathered together the courage to do something Urokodaki had told him about once: kissing, on the lips.

It was a sign of love, and Sabito loved Giyuu, so he made sure Giyuu knew. Who knew what would happen during Final Selection, after all.

Sabito was glad he'd taken the chance to kiss Giyuu. It was the first and last kiss they ever shared.

There was a new strange feeling encompassing him, now. Was this a sign he was about to move on?

Sabito stood from his little perch on the boulder and turned his back to the clearing. Urokodaki once said to him that there was just another adventure after life. Sabito hoped his would be fun. The world began to fade around him, and as his vision went dark, he hopped off the boulder, taking a leap of faith into the next adventure.

...

His eyes opened again, only to close immediately afterward.

Everything was so white! He was blinded by this light! Why was it so bright? It was supposed to be night!

... Right?

AND WHY WAS HE RHYMING!?

A wailing sound reaches his ears. It's high and shrill. Another voice, much more pleasant than the ear-piercing screams, says something in a soothing tone, but he can't make out what it is. The cries are too loud.

It takes him an embarrassing amount of time to realize those loud cries were his. In fact, it wasn't until his face is pressed to something soft and his mouth was guided to... something... that he quieted.

It took him a moment longer, when some sort of fluid began entering his mouth for him to come to a horrifying realization.

He was... he was... Oh no... Oh nononono this was not happening! Holy Kami-sama, this was so embarrassing!

Why was he being breastfed?! He was thirteen!

Well... he was a spirit for a while and was probably around twenty-something when he finally got closure, but he died at thirteen and his body was thirteen so... Wait. If he was thirteen (twenty-one, his treacherous brain corrected, finally figuring out the amount of time he'd been a ghost), then why the hell did he feel so tiny? And why was he being breastfed?

Hadn't he already asked that last question? Oh, well.

He felt tired. Why? Had his crying really exhausted him that much? Well, maybe a nap will help him get over the embarrassment of... well... that.

Right before he gave in to the realm of sleep, he heard a woman's voice. The voice was tired but sweet; it brought back brief memories of a different woman with a different voice, yet bearing the same tone, but he pushed that thought away.

This time, he was able to make out the words.

"I think we should name this one... Sabito. Hinata Sabito."

Me: Welp! There's the first chapter! This was originally longer, but I felt it would be best to split some of this into a second chapter.

Sabito: Now onto a Taish-, well... Modern Secret! Electric lights are a thing now!? You don't have to light any matches or anything; just flip a switch thing! So cool! What's next? Doors that open on their own?!

Me: (Should I tell him...?) Now that Sabito is done with his little fanboy moment, the next chapter will be... "Early Years and Making New Friends".
