Hey Guys! Crescent Rider here and I'm back with another chapter. Before you all begin, here are two questions I want to ask and I'm quite curious about the answers.
If you all recall the Quirk 'Copy', what would happen if Neo's Semblance turned Quirk was copied by a particular character? I'm mainly curious despite my assumption that it'll be like One for All and Rewind.
And my second question is what if I make another Neo Crossover Story, only this time she goes into the world of Mashle: Magic and Muscles? I won't tell you the details cause that would be spoiling.
Also, I want to thank those who stuck around for the story's plot. I'll try to make up for the lost time by updating it once a month or including it in a mass release.
That is all I have to say and enjoy the chapter!
Neo's Home
Half a week has passed and Neo is currently excused from class due to her encounter with that deranged girl. From what she told me, that girl was a dangerous criminal...
Two Days Ago...
After Neo provides an apt description, as well as a visual appearance of the deranged girl, to her mother, the latter resorts to calling a certain individual on the phone.
Sometime later, the person she had contacted was a detective who wished to meet her and Neo for their story. His name was Naomasa Tsukauchi.
Once again, Neo provides an apt description of her encounter as well as uses her quirk to show what the girl exactly looks like. After he matched their facial appearance to a description he reviewed, he told the two who she was...
"Her name is Himiko Toga, a teenage criminal who was behind several cases of murder," Naomasa revealed, "Though I wouldn't go into details of her crime, you noticed that she was near someone before she spotted you, correct?"
Neo nodded, and he continued with the following details, "Well, this girl in particular has been known for sucking out blood from her victims and a filed report states that a man was found in the same alleyway where you first encountered her,"
Neo felt chills crawling down her spine as she recalled her encounter as well as Himiko's gleeful words to her. And her reaction caught her mother's eyes...
"We don't find this conversation quite comforting, Detective," Neo's Mother clarified,
"My apologies, it's just that this girl has been evading both the Police and Pro Heroes for several weeks now," Naosama said, "And this discussion helps us on our investigation. More so, if you can provide us with a sketch of the culprit's face,"
Neo nods and uses her Quirk to visualize Himiko's face, and appearance. She also showed the exact expression to Naosama, and he started sketching down every detail in his notepad.
After that, he stood from the couch and bowed his head to them as Neo reverted to her original appearance, "I thank you for your time and contribution. We'll also have a few police officers travel around those parts in hopes of catching the culprit,"
Neo and her mother stand from their couches and the latter takes him to the door. But before he left, he'd offer his phone number to the two, "If there's more you'd like to discuss, please contact me through this number,"
"We will, thank you," Neo's Mother replied, and took his phone number,
As soon as he left, she would put the phone number near the phone and Neo memorized the number in mind.
Present
After that, she was allowed to stay at home for a few days since that encounter left quite a reminder of how eerie Himiko was. And she's certain that another encounter with her would inevitably lead to a fight she couldn't win.
She could rely on her quirk, but there are limits to what her quirk can accomplish and Himiko has learned a glimpse of her illusion. If she can evade the police and Pro Heroes easily, Neo is certain she would know how her quirk works and how to exploit its weaknesses.
In other words, she needs to improve on aspects other than her progress with her quirk, "Neo! Can you come down here for a moment,"
Neo turns to her mother's voice and goes out of her room to check what she wants.
She couldn't find her in the living room, dining room, or the kitchen. So she settled for the backyard and saw her mother wearing tight sportswear. She also performed a few stretching routines and the occasional crackling of knuckles before her.
Neo was clueless about what her mother was doing, and then the latter gestured for her to come close.
"After you're run-in with that girl the other day, I've somehow realized that with such people lurking in dark alleys and like. I've thought of preparing you for the trials ahead," Neo's mother explained, "Your quirk is by all means incredible, as well as that photographic memory of yours, but when you mentioned that you were attacked by her. You were helpless while the clone took your place,"
Neo grimaces at the thought, especially Himiko's glee in stabbing her clone, "Which is why we're out here! To train your body and teach you in the arts of combat!"
Back when Neo's mother was a teenager herself, she was a strong and resilient martial artist. One part of their shelves consisted of framed pictures of her youth, a gold trophy, and her martial arts uniform with a black belt stored inside a drawer beneath her framed picture and trophy.
Even without her quirk added to the mix, she can best most people with or without quirks through physical skill and prowess. Thus, she wasn't one to be messed with, or so she told to Neo through countless stories.
Still, it didn't sound like a bad idea since Neo could use some experience in self-defense. And if she were to encounter Toga again, the better.
"The schedule is quite simple, but your training will be difficult," Neo's mother clarified, "So don't expect me to go easy on my daughter, you got it!"
Neo nodded and what followed were long days of school work and training...
Neo's mother was a strict and disciplined teacher in martial arts and athletics. There were times she was given a few notable pointers for executing moves and flips and there were times she was pressured under a stopwatch.
If she isn't under the required time limit, Neo will repeat it until she is under the required time limit. But even as her teacher, she was still her mother as certain moments where Neo would hurt herself were met with proper care and an appropriate amount of rest.
Though Neo wished to continue her training despite the obvious strain, her mother made sure that rest is important in one's training. Without it, it'll only harm instead of improve. Thus, Neo relented and listened to her mother's instructions.
School isn't any different than it was at home. As more and more work is done, Neo strives to do her best in studying through her lessons and improve her overall performance in physical education. But despite all that, she still had time to impress her growing audience with magic tricks and establish a few friendly relationships with fellow schoolmates.
When going home, she memorized routes across every street and alley and kept her guard and quirk up for a potential run-in with the serial killer, Himiko Toga. The way she recalled her gleeful expression and her psychotic view of friends, she couldn't help but shudder at the thought of being a potential target of interest.
From the articles, she's read to the number of victims in her record. It wouldn't even be a coincidence if Himiko turns up at an alleyway near Neo's way home, and it puts her on edge since the police consider her a dangerous threat to society.
However, she sometimes wonders why Himiko would have the gall to slice people up and drink their blood like some vampire. Neo assumed that it was either a quirk responsible or a habit she developed in life. As many as they are, Neo set them aside and focused on getting home before the sunset on the horizon.
Unknown Location...
While in hiding, Himiko fiddles with her knife after another victim fell to her. She listened to today's news about her exploits through her earphones, then came an interesting headline.
"As the investigation continues regarding notorious killer, Himiko Toga. Local Authorities were provided with a recent sketch of the killer who had run in with a victim that managed to escape a few weeks before today," News Reporter explained,
Himiko soon stopped fiddling with her knife and pulled out her cell phone to get a good look at the sketch. That's when she saw it, the very same gleeful expression she gave when she first encountered Neo at an alley.
To know that she had given an accurate appearance of her expression, Himiko did not resent her. But appreciated the details she had given to the public and got all giddy on her worn couch. Additionally, it piqued Himiko's interest with Neo ever go great and run her encounter with her all over in her mind.
"I'm really glad to have met you there. Though I hope we'll again after we become best friends," Himiko said, and took a quick screenshot of the sketch,
She also used it as her wallpaper, a clear reminder when she wants to meet Neo in the future...
Six Months Later...
Just as Neo adapted to her school schedule and her mother's training. She showed incredible promise as Neo honed her skills in Martial Arts and her academic knowledge and physical performance had put her in the school's top five ranking students.
If she were to maintain her rank until graduation, she'd be guaranteed a shot at UA's recommendation list and be part of their school's curriculum.
However, Neo was more oriented in a variety of kicks and quick evasion as she fluently avoided most of her mother's attacks and countered or retaliated with a few of her attacks. She even remarked that Neo was like a young slithery snake that knows when to coil around its prey and strike with hooked teeth.
But it didn't mean that she was without her flaws as moments of triumph often act as a window to leave Neo defenseless which is evident by how she was about to do an axe kick while her mother was on her knees. She has a brief period to recover her energy and block the attack with arms raised in an X-formation that pushes her into falling on her back.
With the tables turned against her, Neo's mother quickly positioned herself on top of her daughter and a fist at the ready. But she wouldn't land the decisive blow since this is a sparring match, not an open fight.
"You've let yourself open again, when will you learn not to judge a fight so quickly?" Neo's Mother remarked, stood up, and stretched her hand,
Neo would take it, and stand just as her mother pulled her up to her feet. The former felt somewhat ashamed of herself, and the latter ruffled her hair.
"Seriously though, you ought to be more cautious. Even the slightest chance of losing is still a chance, and villains aren't going to pull their punches like I do to you," Neo's Mother clarified,
Neo just sighed, or rather mentally, and took her mother's words to heart. Strangely enough, this sense of arrogance may come from her new school as well. Even with all her magic shows, academic performance, physical skill, and Quirk capability, she never once established a friend in school like she did with her old school.
They always remarked on how Neo was one of the school's best and the rest envied her position in the top five. But she didn't want such acknowledgment, it came to her just as arrogance followed.
With that in mind, she and her mother finished today's lesson with a bit of stretching and it showcased their likeness in flexibility.
"How about we go out for today? We could use an outing after months of training," Neo's Mother suggested, and Neo agreed with a nod,
Mall
With casual clothes on, the two stroll around the mall with hands held and surveyed a few shops and restaurants. This was all new to Neo since she'd never been anywhere else after her transfer, and this felt like a new change of pace.
When it was time for lunch, they went to the nearest fast-food restaurant and ordered a simple meal. As they were about to eat, however, they heard the people panicking and the two turned to the source. They saw what appeared to be a criminal with a scorpion quirk wreaking havoc and causing so much damage to his surroundings.
"Great," Neo's Mother muttered in disdain, "Just when it's during lunchtime,"
Neo raised an eyebrow at her mother's reaction and pondered to herself whether it was intentional or just a comment.
However, this villain would set his sights on the two. Though he was more fixated on Neo than her mother, "Oooh... I've never hunted one of those before!"
He madly dashes his way toward Neo with malicious intent while her mother stands up, grabs the seat, and smacks the scorpion villain hard on the head before he gets the chance to hurt Neo with his claws or his stinger. However, she unintentionally broke the chair from its legs and her response was to throw aside before commenting on the concussed villain, "There's a time and place for these little antics. Now isn't one of them,"
Neo was dumbstruck by her mother's casual attitude and saw the latter sitting down on a different chair after she pulled one from another table. She knew she was strong, she never anticipated to see her in action.
When her mother saw how dumbstruck she was, she smirked then leaned forward, "You never saw that coming, didn't you?"
Neo shook her head, and her mother giggled at her reaction before taking a sip of her soda. Then came the heroes as they rushed into the scene, though one of them recognized her as he walked towards her, "Who knew we'd meet like this,"
Neo's mother casually lowered her cup and turned to see a hulking man with short crimson hair, a tight bodysuit, and flames as a makeshift mask. This was the Japan's Top Second Hero, Flame Hero: Endeavor...
While her mother paid no attention to his presence, Neo just stared at him from top to bottom. He was as intimidating as most people say about him, but some say that such an upfront is fitting for a hero who's second best compared to the top hero, Symbol of Peace, All Might. Or that was what her mother told her whenever they saw the heroes on live television.
As she remained silent, Endeavor glances at Neo and the latter feels on edge that she instinctively pressed her back on her chair. Even though it was brief, Neo would burn this encounter deep into her mind while Endeavor turned to her mother.
Grown weary of their silence, Neo's mother turns to him with an indifferent look on her face, "How's your wife?"
Endeavor doesn't flinch nor was he fazed at the mention of his wife. He just stares at her cold eyes and keeps silent before closing them and turning to his fellow associates, "Have this villain in custody,"
"Yes!" His heroes replied and took the scorpion villain away while Endeavor walked away from the scene.
"Not even a thank you?" Neo's Mother questioned, still sitting on her chair,
Endeavor doesn't spare a glance, but is bothered enough to raise his hand with acknowledgment as he leaves with the villains in tow. She would drink out of her cup and turn to her daughter with a question she gestured, "Do you know each other?"
Neo's Mother sighed, and put down her cup to gesture the following, "No. But I know his wife,"
Neo was taken aback by this, then gestured, "Wife?"
"My Senpai," Neo's Mother replied, "Rei Himura,"
Neo had become curious about her mother's past before, now she's fully invested in finding out how deep this story is and where til' lead from that point onward. Whether or not she'll like it, she'll see through like she did before...
That is it for this chapter! As for the next chapter, I will reveal the name of Neo's Mother. It took a lot of consideration, but I hope it'll fit as the story goes by. The same applies to her connection with the Todoroki Family.
Also, I want to let you all know that I'm aware that Shounen 'My Hero Academia' is over. I won't side on whether or not it ended well, what matters is that'll continue this story until I've reached its potential end.
Lastly, for those who've noticed. Yes, Neo's muscle memory did come naturally to her as she trained with her mother and so did her weakness of letting her guard down. The latter could've been fleshed out if I wanted to, but I added it in there because it's been a notable weakness of hers in the RWBY franchise.
As for her being academically smart. Assume on what you imagine is true, mine would be the influence of her Semblance turned Quirk...
That is all I have to say and I'll see you all in the next chapter!
