6 Incredible Heroes Divided By 3

Note: There will be no fighting in this chapter but this one will help set the stage for this story. This will foreshadow some future vents in the story and help set up the plot.

So Close Yet So Far

It was Thursday morning at the Parr house as Violet slept in her bed until her alarm clock woke her up and she turned it off with a groan. She sat up with a bedhead as her eyes cracked open and she stared forward with a tired expression for a moment. She got out of bed and walked downstairs to get a drink of orange juice before sitting down next to her brothers and eating cereal.

Helen smiled as she said, "Good morning Violet."

She kept eating her cereal as she tiredly said, "Morning."

Bob turned away from his newspaper and looked at Violet, noticing her demeanor as he asked, "You okay honey? You don't seem as active as usual."

Violet yawned as she looked at him out of the corner of her eye and said, "I'm fine. Just still tired. I was up kind of late last night."

Helen narrowed her eyes as she sternly said, "Up late? Doing what?"

Dash smiled teasingly as he pointed at Violet and said, "Talking on the phone with her boyfriend!"

She immediately woke up as she glared Dash and angrily said, "Shut up you little cockroach!"

Helen glared at them both as she sternly said, "Kids, no fighting during breakfast!"

They both obeyed as they said, "Yes mom."

Helen looked at Violet as she curiously asked, "Now Violet, were you talking with Hiro all night?"

Violet fiddled with her cereal before confessing, "Kind of. He heard about our fight with Underminer on the news, so he called me, and we talked for a couple of hours before going to bed."

Bob smiled before looking at her realistically while he said, "Well that's great honey, but you shouldn't be staying up late to talk to him, especially on a school-night."

Helen agreed as she solemnly said, "Your father's right Violet. It's great that you two are keeping in touch, but you need to not become to distracted by your feelings for Hiro. Especially with your midterms coming up."

Violet stared at her cereal as she admitted, "I know, I just really like talking to him."

Bob glanced at the clock before looking at her as he said, "Well you can talk to him later, but right now you need to get ready for school."

She got out of her seat and said, "Yeah I'm on it."

She immediately went to the bathroom and brushed her teeth before fixing her hair, smiling at her reflection. She then changed clothes and put on deodorant before grabbing her backpack and heading downstairs, just in time to catch the bus as she and Dash hurried out. Later, Lucius had finished packing his suitcase as he closed it and then headed down from his apartment and got into his car and started driving on his vacation. Despite his wife's protests he also packed his super suit in case there was an emergency, though Honey kept nagging him about it. Meanwhile at SFIT, Hiro was working in his lab while Baymax stood behind him and watched him with curiosity.

Baymax then curiously asked, "What are you working on?"

Hiro showed him blueprints he drew and said, "Plans for a stealth suit. It will make sneaking around easier for certain missions."

Baymax examined the blueprints and raised his right finger as he said, "This suit would allow the wearer to become invisible, much like the unique abilities of Violet."

Hiro chuckled as he looked away, blushing as he said, "Yeah. I'm hoping it might impress her when I get it working."

Baymax slightly tilted his head to this left as he stated, "Violet will not be impressed by a device that can do what she can do by herself."

Hiro was annoyed as he looked at Baymax as he sarcastically said, "Thanks for the support Baymax."

Baymax did not understand his sarcasm as he said, "You are welcome."

Hiro showed an amused smile as he shook his head and then looked at his blueprints in thought as he got an idea.

He then started drawing more on the blueprints as he said, "You know, maybe you're right Baymax. The stealth suit needs more."

He smiled as he started getting to work; meanwhile at West View High School, Violet was having lunch with her friends. They were talking about the Incredibles and Frozone's battle against the Underminer while Violet happily listened to them.

Kari smiled happily as she said, "They say that Incredigirl, Incredibaby, and the Incredible Dash beat him all on their own. You know people really need to give younger supers more credit because kids are the future, just like us."

Violet smiled in agreement as she said, "You're right Kari."

Lila smiled in excitement as she said, "Especially that baby! Look at all the things he can do! Imagine how powerful he'll be when he's Incredible Dash's age!"

Violet thought about the idea with a nervous expression as she said, "Yeah, good thing the other kids will probably be out of the house by then."

Tony smiled as he joked, "Yeah! I'd hate to see what he'll be like when he hits puberty."

Violet nodded in agreement with a tense expression, then one of Tony's friends smiled and said, "You guys, ever since superheroes became legal again, there have been lots of cool new supers. Any of you hear about that Voyd lady?"

Violet smiled as she said, "Yeah. I've seen her on TV. Her powers are pretty cool."

Lila smiled with admiration as she said, "Personally, I really like that He-Letrix guy."

Tony smiled as he wagged his finger and said, "I think that Screechy owl guy is pretty good too."

Kari smiled as she glanced around and said, "There's so many new supers now! So many young ones too! You know one day they'll all become as awesome as the old supers!"

Lila smiled in agreement before turning to Violet as she curiously said, "Yeah! Hey Violet, who do you think might become the best superhero?"

Violet smiled as she thought and said, "I think Captain Hero of Big Hero 6 is the best one now, so he'll probably grow up to be the best hero, or at least one of the best."

Kari smiled up toward the sky as she dreamily said, "Yeah. He is amazing."

Violet rolled her eyes with a smile on her face when Lila looked at her and said, "Oh that reminds me, how's your long-distance relationship with Hiro going?"

One of Tony's friends looked at Violet as he curiously said, "Hey yeah, everything okay between you two?"

Violet smiled as she honestly said, "Yeah, things are going good. He called me last night and we talked a while before bed."

Kari smiled adoringly as she said, "You two are perfect for each other."

Lila smiled with respect as she said, "I gotta admit, I'm amazed by how strong you two are. I mean you two live in different cities and are so far apart, but you're still so close. I don't think I could do a long-distance relationship like that."

Violet's eyes widened before she looked down at her food, somewhat down, and she said, "Yeah, we're just so close."

Kari smiled as she pointed her left finger and stated, "Good thing too, since you never really get to spend any real time with each other or do anything special together, because you hardly ever get to visit each other."

Violet repressed her annoyance as she said, "Yeah, good thing."

Later at SFIT, Hiro was with his friends as they worked on projects in the lab with no one else around when Fred came in.

He excitedly showed them his phone as he said, "Guys! Guys! Check this out!"

They looked at a video on his phone showing them fighting Yama in his robot and Honey Lemon asked, "Is that an old news report?"

Fred smiled as he scrolled to show them a website and said, "No! It's this awesome new website called 'Super-Vision'. It's where witnesses post their own recorded videos of heroes and villains fighting each other! It's so cool!"

He showed them a menu with different videos and Wasabi said, "Wow, there's a lot of different supers there."

Honey Lemon smiled with delight as she said, "I never realized there were so many heroes out there."

Go Go scowled as she said, "Which means there's probably a lot more villains out there too."

Baymax raised his right finger as he stated, "More supervillains would mean increased threats to innocent lives."

Honey Lemon pointed her fight finger at them both as she optimistically said, "Yeah but the other supers can stop them and help people, just like we do."

Hiro smiled hopefully as he looked at the phone and asked, "Are there any videos of the Incredibles fighting the Underminer?"

Fred smiled as he scrolled on the screen and played a video while he said, "Oh yeah! Check this out!"

A video played showing the Incredibles knocking the Underminer off his giant drill before they confronted him.

Hiro smiled at the video and remained silent when Go Go elbowed him and teasingly said, "Your girlfriend sure is incredible."

Wasabi chuckled at her pun while Hiro showed a sheepish expression, but then he smiled and said, "Well… Anyway, this is really cool Fred. We could maybe use this to keep up with the other supers and maybe learn about the other villains out there."

Fred smiled proudly as he said, "Oh, you can count on me to keep you guys informed about the world of supers."

Hiro shrugged as he admitted, "Well the world is changing. We have to prepare for the future."

Meanwhile at Frederickson Manor

Stan was sitting in a chair in his secret superhero lair with Heathcliff while they both watched a news report about supers. The TV showed a female reporter while showing profile pictures of different identified villains, including Yama, the Underminer, the Red Menace, Oni, and Sickness. Then the screen showed pictures of different superheroes and teams, such as the Incredibles, Big Hero 6, Frozone, Voyd, Brick, Screech, and Reflux. Then a map was shown of the continental United States with red dots in certain locations across it to mark certain cities.

While these were shown the reporter spoke calmly and said, "In the past year since the return of supers many new and dangerous villains have risen up around the country. Fortunately, the legalization of superheroes has allowed both old and new supers to protect us from these threats. However, many unknow villains are starting to emerge and the supers are spread far across the country, each protecting their own cities. Though powerful and brave, the heroes of our country are still divided and spread thin, making it difficult to protect everyone."

Stan showed a serious expression as he hummed in thought and then said, "Heathcliff, it's time to get organized."

Later that night, Hiro was working in his lab at SFIT while Baymax watched him and then said, "Hiro, I am receiving a call from Violet."

Hiro immediately became interested as he turned and said, "Oh great! Answer it!"

Baymax then projected the live video of Violet on his chest and Hiro happily said, "Hey Violet."

She waved at him and glanced around at the lab and said, "Hi Hiro. Is this a bad time?"

Hiro smiled as he glanced around and waved his hand down as he cockily said, "No, I'm not working on anything important right now. My final semester project isn't due for three weeks so I've still got plenty of time to work on it."

Violet smiled as she glanced to the side and said, "Good to hear. My midterm exams are in three weeks too. I'm feeling pretty good about them, even algebra."

Hiro pointed at her with a generous smile as he said, "I'm sure you'll do great, but I could help you study if you want."

Violet smiled with appreciation as she said, "Thanks, that means a lot."

Hiro smiled as he held his left palm up and said, "Hey, that's what heroes do."

Violet smiled with interest as she curiously asked, "So what have you been working on lately?"

Hiro smiled as he glanced around and answered, "Oh some new stuff for me and my friends for our superhero missions."

She smiled as she leaned closer with interest and said, "Really? Like what?"

Hiro smiled as he held his palms up while looking up and said, "Oh nothing much, just some underwater gear for me and my friends, a stealth suit for Fred, and a cycle for Go Go."

Violet was very impressed as he said, "That's really cool! You make the best gadgets Hiro."

He smiled cockily as he said, "Yeah, I know."

Violet was startled when Helen's head appeared on Baymax's screen behind her as she stretched her neck and sternly said, "Well don't get too sucked into your super stuff. You kids don't want to procrastinate on your schoolwork."

Violet turned around as she annoyedly said, "Mom!"

Her neck returned to its usual shape as she stepped closer to Violet and her computer and said, "Hi Hiro. How's your aunt?"

Hiro smiled politely as he replied, "Oh she's good."

Violet was still annoyed as she complained, "Mom, this is our private chat!"

Helen smiled as she raised her right hand and said, "Calm down honey. I'll get out of your hair. Tell Cass I said 'hello' Hiro."

He smiled politely as he said, "Will do Helen."

Helen walked out of Violet's room and she looked at her computer as she rolled her eyes and said, "Does your aunt ever bug you like this?"

Hiro shook his head with his eyes wide open as he tensely answered, "Oh no. Aunt Cass is way worse. Trust me."

Violet chuckled at his reaction and then looked down at her desk and said, "I should go. I still have more homework to do."

Hiro stepped closer to Baymax as he smiled hopefully at Violet and said, "Okay, sure. Talk again tomorrow?"

She smiled and nodded as she answered, "Definitely! Bye."

He waved and said, "Bye."

She hung up and Baymax's screen turned off and Hiro frowned before turning around and walking toward his desk.

Baymax stared at Hiro and said, "Your heart rate has slowed and your skin conductance has lowered. This indicates you are sad."

Hiro stared at the wall as he said, "It's just rough not being able to spend as much time with Violet as I'd like to."

Baymax blinked as he kept staring at Hiro and said, "You frequently communicate with each other almost every day."

Hiro turned and leaned against the desk as he said, "Yeah, but I wish we could do more. Talking to her in Metroville isn't the same as being with her here or there."

Baymax kept staring at him as he added, "Fred arranged for you and Aunt Cass to visit them during your Thanksgiving break."

Hiro showed a brief smile before frowning while he said, "That was nice, but I wish we could spend more time together. Fred and the others try to help us get together, but we can't just drop everything and go back and forth between Metroville and San Fransokyo, no matter how much we might want to."

Baymax walked up to Hiro and then said, "Relationships can be complicated, but also rewarding. The rare moments you and Violet are together make your talks more special, and make your interactions more memorable."

Realizing Baymax was right, Hiro smiled up at him and said, "Thanks Baymax."

He briefly hugged him before getting back to work while Baymax watched him, meanwhile a car pulled up in front of a hotel in San Fransokyo. Lucius got out of it and smiled as he looked around at the city before he walked inside to check in while Honey waited in the car. Once they were settled into their room Lucius went onto the balcony and smiled fondly as he looked at the city.

He kept smiling as he jokingly said to himself, "Say 'uncle' Marcus."

In the room, Honey angrily shouted, "You'd better not be planning any heroics! This is our vacation and you're not gonna work on it!"

While she said this, Lucius turned and looked into the room with an annoyed expression as he let out a small sigh of frustration.

Later at the Parrs' house

Helen went to each of her kids' rooms as she checked on them to find them all sound asleep, which made her smile. She walked to the kitchen where Bob was emptying the sink and loading the dishes into their dishwasher while smiling.

He turned to his wife as she proudly said, "The kids sure are growing up fast."

Bob smiled in agreement as he leaned back on the counter and said, "Yep. It won't be long before they're fighting crime on their own. And they'll probably have kids of their own who might have powers too."

Helen frowned as she looked down and said, "Yeah. You know I do feel bad for Violet and Hiro. They call each other almost everyday to talk, but they never get to spend any time together."

Bob looked down as he sympathized and said, "It is hard to be someone you can't actually be with all the time."

Helen moved her hands around as she glanced back and forth and vented, "I know! Frankly I think they're made for each other, but the problem with a long-distance relationship is they can't spend enough time with each other. San Fransokyo is a long way away, we can't just drop everything and go visit them whenever we want. It's a ten-hour drive, and Violet and Dash have school. They just don't have the time."

Bob glanced up in thought before looking at Helen as he said, "Maybe we could go see them for a few days when Violet finishes her midterms."

Helen put her hands on her hips with a weary expression as she said, "That would be nice, and I'm sure all the kids would enjoy it, but even if we did that wouldn't fix their problems. Hiro and Violet would only get to spend a few days with each other before we'd have to come home. If only we knew a way they could spend more time together."

They both frowned as they looked down when suddenly the phone rang, Bob answered it and smiled as he said, "Hello? Stan!"

Fred's father was on the other end as he called from his mansion and happily said, "Bob, have I got a deal for you!"

Bob listened and then smiled eagerly as he looked at Helen while pointing at the phone saying, "Honey! It's Boss Awesome!"

Helen smiled as she said, "Wow, his ears must be burning. Tell him I said hi."

Bob smiled excitedly as he waved his hand for her to join him while he said, "No he wants to talk to both of us!"

Helen curiously walked to him and Bob held the phone between their heads as Helen said, "Hey Stan. What's new?"

He kept talking over the phone as they both listened while glancing around and then their eyes widened in shock.

Helen smiled in delight as she said, "Really?! That would be super!"

Bob smiled in agreement as he happily said, "Yeah! Just what the doctor ordered!"

In his mansion, Stan held his phone with a smile on his face as he knew what they would answer as he asked, "So, what do you say?"

Bob and Helen smiled at each other before nodding and then they eagerly said, "We're in!"

Author's note: That's the end of chapter 2. I wanted it to be a little longer but I suppose this is good, especially since there was no fighting in it. Anyway, this helps set the stage. Hiro and Violet are a little depressed about not getting to spend much time together, and in this story we're going to see them face challenges with their relationship. Also, we learn from the news about their being so many new heroes and villains around the country, and this gives Stan an idea. One small spoiler, this also relates to what the villains will be planning in this story, but you'll have to wait for that. I had to refresh myself with my previous 6 Incredible Heroes story, so I made a small change to my first chapter. So they're nearing the end of their semesters as Hiro and Violet prepare for their midterms, they've got a while but they're in for some surprises along the way. Please review.
