Draco: Sorry to keep you waiting! #KidIcarusUprising

Alright, time for the Pokétopia Championship. As was the case in Battle Revolution, your opponents are a lineup of previous Colosseum Leaders (though there's not a separate Pokétopia Master this time, so it's the usual six battles). Unlike in Battle Revolution, Peak Colosseum runs on a whole pile of different rules than all the Colosseums prior.

To start, your battle format is not enforced; you are free to face the lineup in your battle format of choice (I will be writing Jeanne as fighting in Single Battles). What is enforced is your Pokémon's levels - the battle is fought at Level 50 All, even on your first time. Furthermore, this is a full-team battle; you're not picking three or four Pokémon, you are fighting with your entire team (though you do still choose the order they're lined up in, mostly to respect the fact that you can't reorganize your Pass in mid-Colosseum).

The order is Luka, Kaito, Meiko, Rin, Len, Miku. Miku serves as announcer for the first five fights, and then everyone else serves as announcer for the fight with Miku, rolling names at random each time a line comes up (with a couple of scripted bits where multiple Virtual Singers are speaking in succession). Everyone also has an additional empowerment item compared to the fights at their personal Colosseums. And I also like to imagine that they take a leaf out of Cynthia's book and pack ideal IVs for their movesets, with Miku's team also having beefy EVs to go with them. Since there's no battle modes exclusive to after you beat the Peak, let's make the Championship a real struggle to fight for.

I TOLD you this was gratuitous.

On Top of the World

"Ladies and gentlemen, the time has finally come! Welcome to the pinnacle of Pokétopia!"

Kaito's call to the crowd at Peak Colosseum was answered with the most excited cheers that Jeanne had heard in her whole stay at Pokétopia. "Now that's the mood we're looking for!" Meiko observed. "Our challenger has triumphed over every Colosseum thus far!"

"And now," Len proclaimed, "she will have the luxury of facing the best of us all..."

"...to prove that she can triumph over Pokétopia entire!" Rin finished.

Luka set a hand over her chest. "Rest assured, we won't be going down easily!"

Miku grinned. "It's the Pokétopia Championship!" she announced.

As the crowd exploded into excitement, the six of them started towards the red corner; Luka was the one that halted at the Trainer's marker, and Jeanne promptly stepped out onto the battlefield for herself. As she arrived in position, Luka offered a smile - a warmer smile than she had worn in Canyon Colosseum, perhaps, but one that nevertheless offered a challenge rather than a welcome.

She seized a Poké Ball in one hand and held it forward in both hands - light gleaming off the Mega Ring on her right hand and the Z-Power Ring on her left arm. "Don't think you know what's coming," she proclaimed. "Mark my words, I'll surprise you yet."

Jeanne drew a Poké Ball of her own. "Consider them marked."

The two sent out their Pokémon at once, and once again did two Water-types find themselves eyeing each other down as Miku spoke up from the announcer's seat. "In the blue corner: Primarina! And in the red corner: Octillery! Let's see it happen!"

"Zap her!" Luka commanded.

"Make some noise!" Jeanne proclaimed.

Primarina planted her flippers on the ground, unleashing a note of Hyper Voice as Octillery took aim. As the echoes passed her by, the Jet Pokémon unleashed a Charge Beam that slammed into Primarina's center mass even as she tried to dive away; with a growl, she hurled a Moonblast at Octillery in retaliation, hoping to KO her before a second shock could come her way.

It was of no use; Jeanne quickly recalled the knocked-out Soloist Pokémon, sending out Archeops to take her place. Octillery tried to unleash a Blizzard as the First Bird Pokémon soared forward, but the ice passed him by ineffectively as he closed the gap and bombarded her with talon blows, leaping away only once she had fainted.

"Acrobatics run circles around them!" Miku cheers as Luka withdrew the Jet Pokémon. "The blue corner has evened things up!"

Luka's next Poké Ball opened up to reveal a Dragapult, who wasted no time in lining up a shot as Archeops landed swiftly and rose back up with stones of Ancient Power. The rocks flew forward at the same time as the Stealth Pokémon fired the first Dragon Dart, the propelled Dreepy weaving through the assault and slamming roughly into Archeops; both Pokémon took the hits rather well, but the second Dragon Dart left Archeops barely able to hang on.

Jeanne was about to withdraw him when Archeops took the initiative for a parting shot, calling down a Rock Slide that battered down on Dragapult even at it charged forward; the Dragon-type was clinging to consciousness as she slammed into the First Bird Pokémon with a burst of dragon mist.

"A body blow by Dragon Rush!" Miku proclaimed as Dragapult soared away, leaving Jeanne to withdraw her Pokémon. "The red corner really wants this win!"

Froslass quickly emerged and assessed the situation, unleashing an Ice Beam at Dragapult even as she tried to fade out with Phantom Force. The cold knocked her out, forcing Luka to withdraw her, and an Incineroar was sent out to face off instead; he was halfway across the field for a Blaze Kick when Jeanne withdrew the Snow Land Pokémon, leaving his blow slamming into Goodra instead.

A point-blank Sludge Bomb flung the Heel Pokémon backwards, and his body was wracked with poison as he slammed his claws into the ground to slow his momentum. With a snarl, he charged forward again; Goodra unleashed a Dragon Pulse at his charging form, but Incineroar only took the blow and twisted into a Darkest Lariat, slashing at the Gooey Pokémon and leaving him twisting aside. He promptly rolled with the blow, turning back around for a beam of vicious energy that launched him backwards and didn't fade until he'd already hit the ground and tumbled to a stop.

"Annihilated by Hyper Beam!" Miku called as Luka withdrew him. "The blue corner pulls ahead!"

With a scoff, Luka sent out her next Poké Ball - a Magnezone emerged onto the field, took one look at the tired Goodra, and unleashed a Magnet Bomb to finish him off before he could even strike back. Jeanne quickly withdrew him and sent out Volcarona to take his place; the Sun Pokémon twisted into a Quiver Dance even as Magnezone unleashed a Discharge in all directions, voltage dancing across the field and battering her in mid-step.

As soon as the sparks faded, Volcarona leapt forward for a Fiery Dance, blazing the Magnet Area Pokémon with enough ferocity to leave it tumbling to the ground. Luka withdrew him and threw out her next one; a Lycanroc emerged on the field, with a Z-Crystal clipped to his mane in midday hues. As the Wolf Pokémon blitzed forward, stones flying forth from its mane, Jeanne quickly withdrew Volcarona with a curse, sending out Lucario in her place to take the Accelerock.

"Come on!" she encouraged, reaching for the Key Stone in her hair dec. "Let's make this count!"

"No you don't!" Luka snapped, crossing her arms in an X over her chest; her Z-Power Ring gleamed as she thrust her arms forward. "Give him everything you got!"

"No holds barred!" Miku observed as Luka braced her arms at her sides like a bodybuilder, then twisted down onto one knee to brace them again. "Let them have it, Luka!"

The light of Mega Evolution shattered around Lucario in the same time as the landscape of Peak Colosseum shattered around Lycanroc, lifting him into the air on a threatening cliff as massive stones like arrowheads began to rise up around him. The Wolf Pokémon leapt into the air and glared down at Lucario as the stones all turned their sharpest point towards him, and Luka brought her hands together like closing jaws as Lycanroc dove down amidst the Splintered Stormshards, prompting the Aura Pokémon to brace himself to endure the bombardment.

Rock struck steel as the smoke scattered across the battlefield, and when it cleared, the battlefield was more-or-less flat again; Lucario promptly brought his arms apart and lunged at Lycanroc, slamming a brutal Drain Punch into the Wolf Pokémon to sap at his vitality. With a growl, Lycanroc made to dash away, slamming its paws into the ground for an Earthquake that battered Lucario rather much harder than the Z-Move had; it wasn't enough to strike him down, however, and Lucario swiftly closed the gap for a more metallic blow to finish him off.

"Fallen under a Meteor Mash!" Miku proclaimed. "The red corner is backed up to the wall!"

Luka withdrew Lycanroc, and a cold glare spread across her features. "We're not finished yet!"

She threw her last Poké Ball onto the field; Jeanne and Lucario both gave a confident smirk as they recognized the Banette that floated there, even as Luka drove her finger into her Key Stone to initiate the Marionette Pokémon's Mega Evolution. As soon as that prismatic sphere burst, Banette vanished into her shadow, reappearing behind Lucario with the tendrils of one arm flailing. The blow finished off the still-weakened Aura Pokémon, his own Mega Evolution subsiding, and Banette leaped back to the red corner as Jeanne withdrew him.

"I just need you to make one hit count," she whispered to her next Poké Ball.

A still-weary Froslass was sent out to take Lucario's place, though her exhaustion did little to temper her own ferocious glare. The two Ghost-types both hurled Shadow Balls at each other, the projectiles passing through one another to strike their targets; Banette took the blow without issue, but Froslass was knocked out, prompting Jeanne to withdraw her once more.

A grin extended across Luka's face... which quickly faltered when Jeanne drew her last Poké Ball and swept it out to her side. Light flowed out of her Dynamax Band, converging on the Ball, and it expanded before she threw it backwards with a yell of "Come on!" The zipper on Banette's face opened up to let her jaw fall as Volcarona emerged, wings spread to the heavens, and flames gathered before her before searign forth in a Max Flare to consume the red corner.

When the embers faded, Banette was collapsed on the ground, her Mega Evolution having faded when her consciousness did.

"What an amazing battle!" Miku cheered as Volcarona's Dynamax dispersed. "The blue corner just barely eked out that win!" The Sun Pokémon approached her Trainer as Jeanne gave Luka a parting grin, and she turned to high-five one wing before withdrawing her and starting back towards the entrance. "That's your first victory in the championship, challenger! Keep it going!"

"You know I'll keep it going!" Jeanne called, pumping her fist into the air.

+x+x+x+

Luka wasn't the only one sporting something new; Kaito and Meiko caught her off guard with their Gigantamax Pokémon as well as, and Rin and Len had gotten their hands on Key Stones of their own. Jeanne and her team had to earn every last victory, but before long, she was healing up for the last battle with the diva herself.

"Five battles fought," Kaito proclaimed, "and five battles won!"

"Our challenger," Rin cheered, "who has triumphed over every foe thus far..."

"...is set to face the greatest foe in Pokétopia!" Len concluded.

"If she should triumph here, she claims the title of Pokétopia Champion!" Meiko proclaimed.

"Without further ado," Luka prompted, "give it up for Hatsune Miku!"

The crowd exploded into cheers as Miku stepped out into the red corner, prompting Jeanne to emerge in the blue corner. As the two stood opposite each other, Miku raised her gaze with a smile.

"I've been looking forward to this," she proclaimed. "Arrival Colosseum was a welcome match, so I stopped myself from giving it my all. Not this time. This time, I show you what we can do! All we can do!"

"Right back at you," Jeanne replied. "I'm not gonna back down now. We've come a long way since Arrival Colosseum. Everything we've experienced in Pokétopia - we'll make you feel every single drop!"

Miku grinned. "That's a promise, then!"

She crossed her arms before her, the left one at the fore so her Z-Power Ring was unobstructed; then she lashed them out at her sides, exposing the glow in the Wishing Star of her Dynamax Band. Twisting into a spin, she brought an arm before her face, and the light gleamed off the Key Stone set into her hairpin; then she thrust her hand skyward, with a Poké Ball seized in her grip, and a spotlight shone down upon her.

"Let's make it last!"

Jeanne seized a Poké Ball off her belt, sweeping it over her head and then bracing it across her body.

"We'll have ourselves a blast!"

They flung their Balls forward, filling the arena with light; as it faded, a towering blue canine found himself standing opposite a sparkling pink-haired... or rather, pink-mawed figure, both with Mega Stones bound to one arm. "Lucario in the blue corner!" Luka proclaimed. "Mawile in the red corner!"

"Let's see how this turns out!" Rin cheered.

Jeanne immediately reached for her Key Stone, and as that prismatic light enveloped Lucario, she quickly called out, "Hit her for the fae!"

As soon as the light subsided, the Aura Pokémon charged forward - and she was confused to find Miku making no effort to activate her own Key Stone. Wait, why would you send out a Mega-capable Pokémon and not immediately-?

Realization struck just as Lucario was getting into attack range; Miku's Pokémon turned around, shadow dancing around her fist for a Sucker Punch even as Lucario made to bring both paws down for a Meteor Mash. His attack connected in the air above Mawile's head - from which the Illusion shattered to reveal a white-and-red figure with its claws in Lucario's ribcage.

"Oh!" Meiko called. "The Illusion falls away!"

A sinister grin rose on the Zoroark's face, and she raked her claws skyward up Lucario's body as spectres lunged out of the earth beneath him, leaving him stumbling back. With a growl, he thrust his paws outward to unleash a Dark Pulse that threw the Baneful Fox Pokémon backwards; combined with the Meteor Mash from earlier, it was enough to knock her out, and Miku swiftly withdrew her. A Sirfetch'd was sent out to take Zoroark's place, and Jeanne didn't dare to take any chances; as soon as he lunged forward for a Meteor Assault, she withdrew Lucario and deployed Froslass to sub in.

The Wild Duck Pokémon couldn't stop his momentum soon enough to prevent his leek-blade from crumpling ineffectively against her kimono. He looked up at the Snow Land Pokémon with an awkward grin; Froslass offered a brief smile of her own before unleashing a point-blank Blizzard, striking him harshly and leaving enough ice on his webbed feet that he was sliding across the battlefield rather than tumbling. Recovering, he drove the pommel of his sword into the ground to slow himself enough that he didn't collide with Miku, quacking furiously before propelling himself forward once again; Froslass moved to take aim with a Shadow Ball, but the edge of the leaf-shield was slammed into her throat, sending her reeling backwards and connecting with the ground.

"Silenced by Throat Chop!" Kaito warned. "The red corner evens up the field!"

Jeanne withdrew her while Sirfetch'd was breaking the ice off his feet, sending out Archeops to take her place; the First Bird Pokémon quickly dove forward, and a raised shield wasn't enough to stop his Acrobatics from bombarding the knight into unconsciousness. Miku hurriedly withdrew him, sending out a pale blue Ninetales to take his place, but Jeanne equally withdrew Archeops before he could take a hit, deploying Volcarona to catch the incoming bombardment of Icicle Spears. She and Ninetales both twisted into dances, one to press the advantage and one to mitigate it; storm clouds brewed over Peak Colosseum, but the rain had not yet begun to fall before the embers blazed across the Fox Pokémon, nearly wiping her out already.

Volcarona unleashed a Bug Buzz to finish her off, and Miku withdrew Ninetales with a grin. "That's it!" she proclaimed, thrusting another Poké Ball forward. "Push us to our limits! Make us work for it! No one's holding their breath for an easy win!"

"Go for it, Miku!" Len cheered as the light of Dynamax spiralled out of her band. "Maximum effort!"

The Poké Ball expanded under Miku's hand, and she stepped forward to curl her arm under it before it hit the ground and then fling it backwards with a skyward swing. As it landed and opened, a twisted figure emerged and expanded, and Jeanne grit her teeth as a Porygon-Z emerged upon Dynamax and gave a distorted screech that sent raindrops flying in every direction away from it.

She made to raise Volcarona's Poké Ball - but the Sun Pokémon shook her head, unleashing a Bug Buzz even as Porygon-Z's limbs whirled around it. The sound struck the Virtual Pokémon and left it ears ringing; then the earth cracked around Volcarona, and burst in a shining Max Strike that illuminated heavenward to knock her out amidst the rain. Jeanne quickly withdrew her and sent out Lucario to take her place, and the Mega-Evolved Aura Pokémon assessed the situation with a growl before launching himself into the air to leap at the Dynamaxed foe.

Porygon-Z's limbs began to whirl again, and this time flames gathered before it. Light gathered around Lucario's paw as he slammed a Drain Punch into the Virtual Pokémon's body a moment before the Max Flare connected - and the vitality sapped from the Dynamax was enough to let Lucario endure the blaze, if only barely. The rainclouds parted, and blinding rays shone down on Peak Colosseum as the flames burst around the still-airborne Lucario.

The water pooled on the ground was reduced to steam as the Aura Pokémon started to fall... and then halted, launching forward with a burst of energy. The Virtual Pokémon had no chance to launch another Max Flare; Lucario drove another shining paw into Porygon-Z, and as the attack connected it blast with the termination of its Dynamax. The light chased Lucario as he leapt back to Jeanne, landing on a hand, a knee, and a foot with enough force to crack the earth, and he barked in pain, leaving a dark stain on the earth even as the stolen light reached him to try and heal his wounds.

"Drain Punch robs the advantage!" Luka exclaimed. "The blue corner is clinging to this lead with a death grip!"

Miku withdrew Porygon-Z once it had fully reduced, turning back to face Jeanne as she readied another Poké Ball. "There's nothing like this!" she yelled. "The crowd roaring for us! Our hearts pounding with our backs to the wall! Nothing compares!"

She brought the Ball back, hurling it forward, and into the sunlight emerged a bright pink Pokémon, who spread her petals to reveal a Z-Crystal clipped to the topmost one. With a growl, Lucario made to get to his feet, but Miku crossed her arms in an X and then thrust them forward, forming a heart with her fingers and then sweeping them out at her sides to strike a pose.

"Hold nothing back!" Meiko encouraged as the Z-Power converged on Cherrim. "Light the way to victory!"

Fairy light flooded the Colosseum as Cherrim twisted into a spin, and then she lifted off the ground, her petals becoming wings as she soared forward with all haste. Lucario had only started to gather aura to attack before she was in his face, weaving left and right before slamming her whole body into the Aura Pokémon; his Mega Evolution subsided as he was flung backwards, the light dispersing even as Jeanne raised his Poké Ball to withdraw him.

Cursing under her breath, she sent Archeops back out, who quickly took the opportunity to dive forward, even as sunlight rapidly gathered around his opponent. A Solar Beam descended from the radiant skies, but the First Bird Pokémon powered through and bombarded Cherrim with Acrobatics. Unexpectedly sharp blows rapidly had the Blossom Pokémon falling to the ground, and Miku withdrew her with a seething grin.

"We are notes in a song!" she proclaimed, seizing her last Poké Ball. "Trainers and Pokémon both - solitary, ephemeral notes in the fleeting melody of battle! So play your part like you mean it, and make sure this song resonates across all the world!"

It was really Mawile that emerged from this Ball; no sooner had she appeared on the battlefield with a sparkling flourish than Miku reached for her Key Stone, and the Deceiver Pokémon turned around with a confident glare as that prismatic light wrapped her form.

"Limits broken!" Luka proclaimed. "You can do this, Miku!"

The light shattered to reveal Mawile's transformation, the maw of her hair having become two, and she cried out to echo across the Colosseum before throwing herself forward. The First Bird Pokémon had no opportunity to press the advantage before Mawile had leapt in front of him, her head consumed in a metallic light, and as she slammed her brow into Archeops' beak, her tails whipped forward to come down on his wings and throw him brutally into the ground.

The sunlight was starting to fade as Jeanne withdrew him; she quickly drew her next Ball in her right hand, and light coursed into it from her Dynamax Band. "Give it everything you've got!" she yelled, hurling it backwards - and as it struck the ground, Goodra emerged with a loud, triumphant cry. Voltage converged in the sky as Mawile made to close the gap, coming down on the Deceiver Pokémon in mid-charge and consuming her in a bolt of Max Lightning.

Even as electricity extended across the battlefield, Mawile refused to yield, forcing her way through the shocks to charge once more. Huge Power coursed through her every motion as she leapt at Goodra's Dynamaxed form, and Fairy light burst under her feet as she ascended the Dragon Pokémon's body in a bombardment of blows. It didn't take long before one such connection blast, the blows forcing Goodra into unconsciousness, and Mawile leapt clear as the Dynamax subsided.

"Can't handle when they Play Rough!" Rin called as Jeanne withdrew Goodra. "Both corners are down to their last Pokémon!"

Jeanne quickly threw her last Poké Ball, and Primarina opened her eyes at the same moment as Mawile landed again upon the charged battlefield. "Come on!" she called, crossing her arms over her chest as her Z-Power Ring shone and then thrusting them forward. "One final song!"

She swept her arms to one side and then to the other, and Z-Power converged on Primarina as she stood up upon her tail; Mawile made to charge, and found her motions slowed, looking down to realize the goo that still clung to her from her contact with Goodra. The Soloist Pokémon's hair came unbound, and she sung a powerful note that left water surging skyward from the battlefield around her.

Then Mawile got close; her maws Crunched on Primarina's flippers, and she drove a ferocious Iron Head into her stomach, cutting her next note short.

Struggle between the two, each trying to overpower the other; then Primarina managed to wrench her flippers free, forcing Mawile back. As the Deceiver Pokémon stumbled, she found herself beneath a massive sphere of water, as though the liquid of an entire storm were about to descend at once. And descend it did - Jeanne raised her fingers to signal, Primarina swung her scarred arms skyward, and a ferocious note coursed across the battlefield as the water came down in a merciless deluge.

When the song subsided, a shower emerged from above what had been the epicenter of the drop. For a moment, fear took root in Jeanne's heart as she saw Mawile still standing upon the battlefield... but then her Mega Evolution began to subside, and she fell forward, collapsing onto the ground.

Draco: Ohhh, I needed that.

Arena details - Peak Colosseum will have perpetually clear skies, Camouflage will make your Pokémon a Rock-type, Nature Power will turn into Power Gem, and Secret Power may cause flinching. Colosseum Mode battles take place at midnight, and as mentioned, battle format is not enforced for the Pokétopia Championship. I did plan out full teams for each Virtual Singer, though I couldn't really write all six battles.

As shown, Luka packs a Z-Power Ring in addition to her Mega Ring; her team is Octillery, Magnezone, Incineroar, Dragapult, a Midday Form Lycanroc with a Lycanium-Z, and a Mega Banette.

Meiko wears both a Dynamax Band and her Z-Power Ring; her team is Polteageist, Klinklang, a Hisuian Arcanine with Thunder Fang and an Electrium-Z, Metagross, Kommo-o, and a Toxtricity with the Gigantamax Factor.

Len has a Mega Pin as well as his Dynamax Band; his team is Electivire for his preferred Dynamax, Pangoro, Roserade, a Mega Scizor, Blacephalon, and a Galarian Darmanitan.

Rin has a Mega Charm as well as her Dynamax Band; her team is Magmortar for her preferred Dynamax, Beartic, Florges, a Mega Lopunny, Stakataka, and Sneasler.

Kaito wears both a Dynamax Band and his Z-Power Ring; his team is Vanilluxe, Gardevoir, a Malamar with Flamethrower and a Firium-Z, Tyranitar, Flygon, and a Duraldon with the Gigantamax Factor.

And, finally, as shown, Miku packs all three empowerments - Z-Power Ring, Dynamax Band, and a Mega Dec. Her team is a Hisuian Zoroark, Sirfetch'd, an Alolan Ninetales, Porygon-Z as her preferred Dynamax, Cherrim with Play Rough and a Fairium-Z, and a shiny Mega Mawile.
