Arcanine nudged me along, as we kept walking through the forest. I had been seriously worried about attacks from the sky from my lovely father. Remembering some of Skarmory's attacks shot steel feathers at their opponents… Arcanine seemed to think the same thing the way his head was on a swivel, keeping an eye on everything.
As we walked, or stumbled moreso in my case, I tried to keep my thoughts from spiraling. This is nothing like the media portraying Pokémon in my past life… observing Arcanine, there was nothing cartoonish about him. Rippling muscle, a canine form more akin to a mixed giant Great Pyrenees and German Shepherd, his teeth and claws I would bet a lot of money could cut through steel easily. His eyes though, that sealed the deal to me that he was far more intelligent than any animal in my past life. The spark of intelligence there was beyond most humans I'd met I was sure!
Arcanine stopped suddenly, going completely still. I froze, fear making my small form tremble at what would cause this state in Arcanine. Then I heard it, thudding steps walking noisily towards us. The ground started trembling as whatever Pokémon kept approaching us. I couldn't control my breathing and started hyperventilating, clenching my fists and my eyes, burying myself into Arcanine's side. 'Damn this uncontrollable body!' I thought to myself.
The thudding footsteps stopped. I could feel Arcanine nudge me with his head, trying to get me to gently move forward. I opened my eyes, still breathing erratically and looked in front of me. Then looked up, and up until I beheld a Pokémon standing at least four meters high. The draconic head, orange colored scales, blood streaked on its claws and mouth, bright blue intelligent eyes, wings that seemed too small… and the strangest thing, it was smiling friendly at me.
"That's a dragonite…" I softly said, then everything went black.
