*Kuro POV*
Those words have stuck with me ever since I started this death game. I've met many guys wanting to be someone's knight in shining armor, the hero that saved us from despair. The ones that do, either see reality for what it is and quit while they can, or die trying their best to imitate something they are not.
*Flashback to the 1st Floor Boss*
A knight is seen being hit with a devastating attack by the first floor boss, Illfang the Kobold Lord.
"DIAAAAAVVVVEEEEELLLLLLL!" ? shouted.
"Damnit! Should've warned him sooner" ? stated.
A player is seen dashing straight in Diavel's direction, while another player is trailing behind. The screaming player kneels down next to Diavel.
"Diavel, you idiot, what were you thinking?!" The player shouted
"Well… I guess I… wasn't thinking at all…" Diavel said while laughing
"You wanted the last hit bonus on the boss didn't you?" The player behind him said.
"*Laughs* Nice observation...First try too…Should've expected you to find out… Kirito."
The player behind them looks shocked and says "How do you-"
The player looks in his inventory for a potion. It's the last one he has left. Hesitant at first, he grabs it and is about to use it on Diavel until Diavel stops him by grabbing his arm.
"Didn't I say… to stock up on items and supplies? Jesus Kuro… even after the training we went through… you still manage to ignore my advice."
"Save that potion for yourself… I'm already dead anyways. One thing that you should know before I die. I…was a beta tester…" Kuro's eyes widened as he heard the news. "When I first met you…at the Town of Beginnings…you were…the spitting image… of a noob." "Is this really the time for this Diavel?!" Kuro says.
"Let me finish Kuro… I was determined to make you my student. I wanted to make you…into a hero… Someone who the scared people of Aincrad could rely on. Someone I could call my rival…But none of that matters now…Seems like It's finally time." Kuro, Kirito and others watch as Diavel begins to dissolve into polygons. "Oh and promise me one thing…" Diavel says.
"Kuro… promise me… you'll be… the hero I couldn't be."
*End of Flashback*
"That day changed me for the better, or worse, I can't really tell…I am all by myself now so no one can tell me…if I had or not. But one thing is for sure…. I loved…the journey…the adventures…the events that I did with my friends…Oh yeah… I hope they all made it out safe and sound…. Damn that Kayaba…I'll find a way out. I swear!"
