Marinette did not like the news Nathaniel and Mylene brought back from America. But even she was not as angry as Kagami was. The fencer had nearly gone to deal with the guilty party right away.

Her mother's company had built the boat that had fired on the heroes. It was even registered to the company. The evidence was too damning to do anything about.

Adrien had his arms crossed, looking worried for his partner.

"We need to stop her." Kagami hissed. "First, she tries to take me from Paris, where all my friends live! And now, she is complacent in a scheme to take out superheroes. I swear, if there was any way she could know about our identities, those things would be connected."

Zoe sat next to Marinette, quieter than usual. Marinette looked over at her girlfriend and wound their hands together. Zoe gave her a slight smile as she squeezed Marinette's hand.

"I'll be alright, Mari. It's just, I wish the crises would come one at a time."

Marinette knew what her lover said was true. There was a lot of problems stacking up at once. "You're right. Unfortunately, we don't have that luxury. Is there anything we can do right now?"

Adrien smiled, a troublemaker grin she knew too well from Chat Noir. "Sure. She just opened fire on two superheroes of Paris. That would not have gone unnoticed. Max, did you get what we needed?"
Max adjusted his glasses. "At your request, at 3 AM I will add, I looked up and found satellite footage of the boat firing on our comrades. The boat was in American waters at the time it fired, so this is an international incident. The Americans are already beginning to take legal action against your mother, Kagami."

Kagami blinked and then kissed Adrien on the lips. "Thank you, Adrien. I wouldn't have thought of that."
Adrien blushed. "Marinette would have, I bet. I only thought of it first because of where they were. I recalled how fast the heroes of New York responded to a planejacking over their waters."

Marinette grinned. "I knew keeping you as my partner was a good call. Well done, kitty cat. Now, Alya, please record statements from Polymouse and Caprikid. I want a response up right after criminal charges are delivered to Tomoe. I worry that Kagami can be deported for her mother's actions."

Chloe raised her hand from her spot. "No need to worry. Nathalie can offer Kagami sanctuary during the investigation. After that, we will need to see what options are available to us, but I think we can work around this. Sabrina where is that book on Parisian Law?"
Her girlfriend wordlessly handed her a heavy volume. "Here it is, Chloe."

Chloe got up. "If you need us, we will be researching ways to keep you in France, Kagami. Marinette, you focus on my sister's sperm donor and getting him dealt with."
Marinette gave Chloe a thankful look as the meeting broke up. Marinette went and wrapped her arms around her partner. Tikki and Pollen floated over to them.

"Sorry," Zoe sighed. "I feel like we are having too many meetings and not enough action."
Pollen patted her on the cheek. "When we have more, my queen, we can act. Action without purpose is wasted effort and that is beneath us."
Tikki smiled. "Pollen is correct, Zoe. We should preserve our own strength and ready ourselves for the encounter."
Marinette grinned. "Why don't we spar then, love? The action will get your stress out and you can be better prepared uncase a fight has to happen."
Zoe's blue eyes glittered with mischief. "Alright, I'm game. Pollen, Buzz on!"

That night, Zoe had passed out from fatigue at their long training session. Marinette longed to join her but she had a project that was due tomorrow for Nathalie. She was putting the finishing touches on it when there was a knock on her trap door.

She got up and headed over to the bed with her sleeping partner snuggled down on it. Chat Noir was standing there holding two steaming to-go cups. Marinette smiled and called for her transformation.

Chat backed up as she stepped up on the roof as Ladybug. "Hey Chat." She was careful to not call him Kitty anymore, since that was Zoe as Kitty Noire's nickname. "What brings you to my humble balcony so late?"
Chat handed her one of the mugs, which she took grateful. She took a swig and found hot apple cider in it.
"Where did you get this?" She asked as she took another drink.

"Kagami actually made it from a powder mix for us."

Ladybug smiled. "Shame she couldn't join us tonight, but it's nice to have a moment as just the OG team."
Chat walked to the edge of the balacony and looked out over Paris. "Ladybug, there is a strong chance even with everything we are planning, Kagami won't be allowed to remain in Paris unless she becomes a citizen. We talked about it, and I might go to Japan with her until we can either get her Paris citizenship or get married."
This revelation hit Ladybug hard. She looked at the man who was like a brother to her. "I won't lie, I would miss you both terribly. But if that is what is best for the two of you, I would understand of course."

He grinned. "I knew you would. We are going to fight tooth and nail to stay here, but we wanted to have a plan just in case. If we do go, you'll take Plagg and Longg back until we return?"
Ladybug nodded. "I mean, I wouldn't mind Kagami keeping Longg but you would need to trade Miraculous. I can't risk Plagg's powers without a Cure to undo any damage."
He blinked in surprise. "You would let us keep the Miraculous though we are so far away?"
"Chat Noir, Miraculous holders staying in one place is a recent and rare occurrence. A Guardian covers more than a single city. Eventually, I'll need to expand my influence and the range which we work to match the restored Order. Japan might be outside my jursidiction, but I'm sure any holders created in Japan would be grateful for two veteran holders."
Chat Noir hugged her. "Thanks, Bugaboo. We were ready to surrender them completely."
She laughed. "When we have space power-ups? Please, Paris to Japan is no time at all for us. Anyway, I need to go to bed. Have a good night, Chat. I promise I'll do all I can to keep Kagami in the country too."
Chat nodded. "We actually found some stuff from that legal book Chloe gave us. We are going to try something tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes."
Ladybug stopped at the trapdoor. "I'll hold you to that."
She softly dropped onto the floor next to her bed and released her transformation. Zoe was still sound asleep. Marinette could not resist joining her beloved in the warm and surrendering to sleep.
