AN: Hello everyone, I and my Co-Author Pyrohelixdrago1 are back with another chapter for this story.
I would also like to say again that Pyro and I are looking for another writer to join us in making this story, namely to help flesh out the character interactions and such…So far the search has not been very fruitful.
The campers had been walking through the jungle for nearly a half hour after having left the ruins of the camp. Despite having been walking for a while they hadn't even gone a few miles as a result of having to be as stealthy as possible given that they had no idea where the Indominus Rex was or if there were any other dangerous surprises lurking around.
Suddenly there was the sound of a twig snapping followed by Ben letting out a loud yelp which caused the rest of the campers to yelp as well except Naruto who pulled out his knife and held it in a reverse-grip like how Owen taught him, ready to strike at whatever the threat was.
"Sorry I stepped on a twig" Ben said sheepishly in embarrassment.
"Really Ben come on?"
"I dang near had a heart attack"
"I should step on you" were the group's reactions, Kenji having said the last one clearly more annoyed than the rest.
"It's okay Ben we're all on edge, just try to be a little more careful" Darius says calmly.
"Were also lost" Sammy said before Brooklynn snapped at her about her phone again saying they wouldn't be lost if she had it as it had a GPS, compass, and was obviously a phone in which they could use to call for help. This outburst resulted in Yasmina once more standing up in Sammy's defense having had enough of Brooklynn blaming people for her phone being lost.
"We're not lost" Naruto chimes in catching everyone's attention.
"We're not? Also since when do you have a knife!" Kenji asks in confusion before noticing the knife Naruto is holding.
"No, we are near the Carnotaurus Paddock. As for the knife I honestly forgot I had it on my belt until a little bit after we left camp" Naruto says, rubbing the back of his neck in embarrassment as it wasn't uncommon for him to forget he had the knife on him given how little he ever had to use it.
"Why didn't you use it before?" Ben asked.
"This little thing is like a splinter against something the size of that Indominus. Hell the only dinos a knife this big could take down range from Compys to maybe a Baryonyx though that's a stretch. I could POTENTIALLY take down a Carnotaurus if I got a direct hit in one of its eyes but wouldn't risk it as best case scenario if it doesn't one shot the Carno is that I lose my arm when the Carno rears back and chomps down on it." Naruto says with a shrug before sheathing his knife in his hip holster.
"Geez if losing your arm is a best case scenario then what's the worst case?" Kenji asks with a grimace.
"Oh worst case scenario is that the Carno misses my arm…and gets my head" Naruto said morbidly with a shrug causing the group to gulp.
"Not funny dude" Yaz says, shaking her head and crossing her arms not amused by Naruto's joke.
"I wasn't being funny, I was totally serious, that is the worst case scenario" Naruto says with another shrug.
The result of hearing this caused the group to gulp audibly once more as Kenji manages to squeak out "Dude…not cool".
"Meh, just the truth besides what are the odds we would end up having to face a Carnotaurus on our way to the main park?" Naruto said with yet another shrug as the odds of running into a escaped Carno in addition to the Indominus were quite low in his opinion.
"Well given how you just likely jinxed us I would imagine they are quite high now!" Brooklyn said a little heatedly not wanting to tempt fate given what they just barely escaped from.
"My fellow campers what we need in this situation is a leader. Someone who can make the hard call on what to do next and get us all to safety." Kenji suddenly said cutting Naruto off as he was about to respond to Brooklynn's comment.
"...I was under the impression that I was the leader, given how I have the most experience on the island and in survival situations?" Naruto said raising an eyebrow
"So was I/ That's what I thought/ Totally makes sense/ Umm same here/ Who else could it be?" were the responses of Sammy, Brooklynn, Yaz, Ben, and Darius in order.
"Well um" Kenji said blushing and sputtering a bit in embarrassment.
"Okay so everybody is in agreement and it's clear that I am the leader. Oh and Darius is my 2nd in Command. If I am away from the group, incapacitated, or well…gone he is in charge. Now why don't we just continue walking as this is getting pretty awkward? Once we reach the Carno Paddock it's only a bit further to Dr. Wu's Satellite Lab where we could stop and hopefully find help" Naruto says wanting to diffuse the awkwardness and the group began walking again.
Several minutes later they made their way through some tall grass and as they came out of it Naruto nodded "Okay so here is the…totally destroyed Carnotaurus Paddock" he said grimly as the group saw the mangled and broken remains of the paddock fence lying scattered around with two large sets of footprints one belonging to the Indominus the other belonging to the Carnotaurus leading off in different directions.
"That means that Toro is out here with us as well as the Indominus" Ben whispers out in fear.
"Yeah seems that…wait a minute back up. How the hell do all of you know about Toro?" Naruto asks going to answer the frightened teen only to realize what he had said.
"We all know Kenji told us about his and Darius's little excursion the day after we went to the lab" Yaz says with a shrug walking by the two boys.
Darius and Naruto look over to Kenji who chuckles sheepishly "In my defense saving Darius was pretty cool" he says with a grin causing the two to sigh heavily while Naruto also rubs his temples already feeling a headache forming for the rich teens comment.
"Well.." Brooklynn chimes in only to be interrupted as Naruto cuts her off "Brooklynn…don't say it" he says simply having a feeling that he knew just what the social media star was going to say especially given the scene in front of them.
Naruto proceeds to massages his temples more "I swear it's like the universe or karma hates me. I mean is this all payback for walking in on Roxie using the shower that time? I mean hell it wasn't my fault that Dave decided to switch the door signs as a joke…" he mutters trailing off near the end.
"Whoa wait back up…You have seen Roxie naked!" Kenji suddenly yells with wide eyes and a goofy grin before wincing and letting out a yelp.
"KENJI!" Sammy yells in anger her facing turning red at what he just said resulting in her having stomped on his foot with her cowboy boot.
"Ow what it was a valid question. I mean Roxie is smoking hot?" Kenji says hopping on one foot and holding the other in pain.
The girls just let out a collected groan in disgust at the comment while Darius and Ben just shake their heads and Naruto just sighs "No Naruto you can't leave him behind or use him as bait that would be wrong" he thinks to himself.
"Anway this enclosure is directly North of the Main Park and Wu's Satellite lab is between here and there. We keep heading straight and we will reach the lab and see if there is anybody there that can help us. If not then we will either stay hunkered down in there until help arrives, or if the building is compromised we will continue heading South to the Main Park" Naruto says reiterating their plan as he once more leads them back into the jungle.
"I don't think finding an adult is going to help. A terrifying dinosaur that can camouflage itself killed at least three people and destroyed our camp. No way they have a plan for that." Ben whispers quietly to Darius
"Ben I know it's scary but this is Jurassic World. Dealing with Dinosaurs is what they do so ofurse they have a plan for a situation like this" Darius whispers back trying to comfort the frightened teen.
"They didn't deal so well back at the first park, did they?" Ben counters in a slightly more panicked tone.
"Ben everything will be okay, trust me. All we need to do is find help and everything will be fine" Darius whispers back quietly as the group continue to head deeper into the jungle. However unknown to the group a few minutes after they left the destroyed paddock large thundering footsteps could be heard in the area as a large scaly foot entered the clearing and a low growling could be heard.
(Dave and Roxie)
The two camp counselors had made it to the park's operations headquarters to meet with Claire only to be told that she was busy so they had to wait in a small waiting room. Normally this wouldn't have been an issue for the two however that was now a couple hours ago.
"Ugh! This is taking forever! I know Claire is a busy lady but this is ridiculous and we can't leave the campers alone all day" Roxxie snapped out in annoyance as she paced back and forth in the small room.
"Wow, hittin the first names. You only do that when you're really annoyed" Dave said with a raised eyebrow at his fellow camp counselor.
"Of course I'm annoyed, DAVID. We need to talk to Claire and get back to the kids ASAP! I mean sure we left Naruto in charge but it's not like he can handle everything by himself. However instead of meeting with Claire they hove us in here and just tell us to wait for her before everyone just disappears!" Roxie rants before walking over to the room's sole window and peeking through one of the blinds "Where did they go…Something must be going on" she mutters to herself while thinking what could have happened.
"Look I'm sure Claire-Yeah that doesn't feel right-I'm sure Ms. Dearing will get to us when she can" Dave says optimistically.
"When! I mean we have been here so long that someone gave you a Birthday Card to sign!" Roxie counters in exasperation at the whole situation.
"Alright I think the real issue here is that no one else has signed the card. I mean that's just sad and cruel heck it only takes a second to sign it, poor…Eddie" Dave says as he looks down at the card to see who it's for "Dear, Eddie I don't know you but I am sure you're doing a great job…" he continues talking to himself as he writes on the card.
"Ugh will you put that down and help me look for a phone or radio so we can get a hold of someone, ideally Claire Dearing" Roxie asks as she begins rummaging through the room looking for said things as she comes to a locked closet.
"Maybe she is hiding so that she doesn't have to sign this thing and…are you picking that lock!" Dave begins only to yell near the end as he notices his fellow counselor pick the lock of the locked closet.
"What I watched Brooklynn's video where she went over hacks for when you lock yourself out of your hotel room…it was actually so good I subscribed…don't tell her" Roxie says as she continues to pick the lock until a click is heard signifying that she was successful.
"Mildly impressive" Dave says with a grin and nod at her success.
Roxie opens the doors to reveal two shelves of radio's sitting in chargers and turned on. As she goes to reach for one they all start transmitting sounds of screaming and gunfire "Shoot Her! Shoot Her!" "No! The order is to get–`''Get Wu out of-" "Keep out of the way!" are among the various chaotic sounds heard alongside the shrieks of a dinosaur and men screaming as the lights on the raidos begin turning red one by one signifying the destruction of the radio transmitting the message and likely death of the one using it and within seconds all the radio's lights are red as the emit static while all Roxie and Dave can do is look on in horror at what they just heard.
(With the Campers)
The campers had continued their trek through the jungle having walked a fair bit aways from the Carno paddock. As they walk Sammy was looking down at her interlocked hands thinking about certain things when she notices Brooklynn pass by her roughly nudging her with her shoulder as she passes a frown on her face
Sammy looks at the back of the younger girl with a sad look before she hears Yaz say "Don't let Brooklynn get you down. She's just being…Brooklynn" she says with a kind smile as she walks past the cowgirl. As Sammy watches the athletic girl walk in front of her she moves one of her hands to the one of her pants pockets feeling a certain item there which causes her to once more frown sadly.
"Yaz there's something I…" Sammy begins to say only to gasp as she sees everyone stopped in front of her looking at the carnage in front of them. Off to the side is the totally destroyed wreckage of a Gyrosphere, its bulletproof glass sphere of safety shattered all across the ground like it were a simple window, the actual structure of the ride not faring much better.
Off to the side however was Naruto kneeling next to the carcass of an Ankylosaurus, his hand resting on its armored back. The dead dinosaur's legs were sporting large deep gashes that were still bleeding staining the grass and ground red. Its neck was clearly broken and barely still attached to its body given the massive teeth shaped puncture wounds covering nearly the entire neck and the fact that its head was bent so far back that the dinosaur's forehead was touching its own armored back, its eyes wide and lifeless.
"The Indominus Rex was here" Brooklyn whispers out in fear at the brutal and grim scene before her.
"This doesn't make sense. Predators don't kill prey and then just leave without feeding" Darius comments as he looks at the scene in fear, sadness, and confusion.
"Not all Predators are alike Darius. Not to mention that it's possible the Indominus has some kind of mental disorder given it being a hybrid. Hell, depending on what they used to make the damn thing it could be a full blown psychopath that is killing simply because it likes to kill" Naruto says with a steely tone as he gently closes the eye of the Ankylosaurus.
"Wait so you're saying Dinosaurs can have personalities?" Kenji asks in confusion.
"Yeah when it boils down to it they aren't that much different from say dogs, cats, even people as they have their own personalities and behaviors. Take Toro for example, he is extremely aggressive, territorial, and has even killed a fellow Carnotaurus when it was brought into his first paddock. However there are a few other Carnotaurus in the park that are by no means friendly as in you obviously can't walk up to them and pet them...They at least coexist with their fellow Carnotaurus in relative peace and harmony. I mean sure they have their occasional scuffle or fight but nothing major and more like one just telling the other to quit doing something" Naruto explains thoroughly and shocking the campers.
The blonde then stand up and rubs his hand along the thickly armored back of the dead dinosaur as if he was paying his respects "I will say this though that from what I have observed the smarter a dinosaur is the more complex their personalities can be" he says.
"So something like the Raptors have a much more advanced and complex personality than something like a Compy?" Darius asks in curiosity, finding the information fascinating given his love of dinosaurs.
"That's an understatement to say the least" Naruto says with a chuckle "Hell even among the raptors they each have vastly different personalities. Blue is calm and collected as you would expect given she is the Beta of their group under Owen. While she may be prideful and get a bit of an ego at times due to her placement as Beta but she is quick to understand that isn't healthy and reigns it in.
Delta is kinda temperamental as at times she is pretty laid back most the time but when it comes to the protecting the pack or hunting she would be the first one to jump into a fight if Blue didn't regin her in, though I will say she REALLY REALLY seems to hate Vic Hoskins and for his sake I really hope she never gets loose as I have a feeling she would chase him to the ends of the earth if she was given the chance.
Echo is a bit of a wildcard as she is playful like a puppy and very curious about stuff at times but can swap to a no nonsense hunting machine at a moment's notice.
Finally there is Charlie who is actually very timid and shy compared to the other raptors but FIERCELY loyal to those she views as her pack and will not hesitate to absolutely eviscerate anything she sees as a threat to her pack if Blue doesn't tell her to stop or hold back" Naruto says explaining how the raptors are.
"So what would you make of the Indominus then?" Yasmina asks in curiosity as she was eager to hear how he analyzed the Indominus after hearing him describe the raptors.
Naruto brought his hand up to his chin as he thought for a moment "It's EXTREMELY aggressive even more so than Toro. It apparently kills both for food and sport/because it wants to based on how we saw it eat that one worker and how it didn't eat anything of this Ankylosaurus. It also appears to be quite intelligent as based on the carcass here it started its attack by slashing and biting at the Ankylosaurus's back before it moved on to going for the legs likely with its claws. Then it looks like it flipped the Anky on its back leaving it helpless before going in for the kill by attacking the head and neck with a single precise bite. Based on all of this evidence I believe that the Indominus is Hyper Intelligent with a Psychopathic Personality combined with Sociopathic tendencies…Basically it's a killing machine" he finishes causing the campers to gulp in fear at the breakdown.
"Jason Vorhees the Dino" Kenji says with wide eyes due to his fear.
"Meh personally I think it's more like Michael Myers with a smidge of Freddy Krueger thrown in" Yaz says with a shrug getting a nod from Naruto.
Naruto meanwhile had turned his attention back to the dead Ankylosaurus and was thinking about its armored hide. Darius saw the look in the spiky blondes eye and how he was looking at the dead dinosaur "Naruto are you thinking about salvaging the armor plates?" the dino loving teen asked.
"Yeah I was initially but I'm not sure I would be able to cut some of them off. Even if I could, only the larger pieces would be of use as they could be used as chest armor and it would take too much time to not only remove them but fashion them into a protective vest. Not to mention they would likely weigh a decent amount making it hard if not impossible for all but Yaz or myself to wear them which would counter Yaz's strongest ability which is her speed" Naruto explains while shaking his head as while it would be a good thing to have the vests would take to long to make in their current situation.
Before anyone could say something in response a low groaning followed by the sounds of grass moving came from the nearby tall grass causing the campers to run and hide wherever they could. Ben, Darius and Sammy chose to hide behind the wrecked gyrosphere, Kenji behind a tree, while Yaz, Brooklyn, and Naruto chose a bush.
Moments later the grass parted and a baby Ankylosaurus with a light blueish-green coloring as its skin color came bounding into the clearing with a squeal. Ben's eyes lit up at the sight of the baby dino "Bumpy!" he yelled in joy as he ran over to it and hugged it
"And drooly, and smelly, besides how do you even know that's the same dino?" Keni comments in a snarky tone.
"Her big head bump. Dr. Wu said she is asymmetrical but he's wrong about it being a bad thing. There is nothing wrong with being different, or bumpy, or getting tired after reading an overly thrilling book! And maybe if her parents had listened to her, she wouldn't have come here and gotten attacked!" Ben says yelling near the end of his little rant.
"Are we still talking about the dinosaur? Because it feels like we're not still talking about the dinosaur" Yaz whispers to Naruto.
"Your guess is as good as mine…and how does someone get tired from reading a thrilling book?" Naruto whispers back with a small silent chuckle getting a slight giggle from Yaz.
"As great as this little reunion is, shouldn't we keep heading south?" Kenji chimes in wanting to get back to moving asap.
"I don't know about the rest of you but I'm not spending another hour walking through the jungle, hoping that we don't run into the Indominus, Toro, or whatever else could be lurking around out here, we need a new plan" Brooklynn states.
"We have a solid plan in that we are heading towards Dr. Wu's satellite lab to see if there is anyone there that could help us, in the event there isn't maybe there will be a vehicle we could take to get to the main park faster" Naruto says before a faint roaring was heard off in the distance setting the campers on edge.
"Fine whatever let's just get out of here, the further away from that noise the better" Brooklynn says quickly in an unnerved tone.
"What about Bumpy?" Ben asks as the others start to walk off causing them to pause and look at the timid boy still kneeling next to the baby dinosaur.
"She's a dinosaur bro she belongs out here in the wild" Kenji says with a sigh.
"And she will just slow us down. You heard that roar for all we know it could be the Indominus and it could be headed this way we need to move now" Yasmina reasons feel sympathy for Ben but figuring their safety is more important than Bumpy's.
Ben looks down sadly at Bumpy who squeals and grunts softly as she nuzzles up against his chest before looking up at him with wide eyes "But she could keep up I mean Darius you said the other day that Ankylosaurs are fast right?" he reasons trying to convince the others to not leave Bumpy behind.
"Well yeah technically they are when they are full grown but Ben she is just a baby she won't be as fast as an adult" Darius says.
"Look we are wasting time and there is no telling how far off or where the Indominus or Toro are so we need to leave now. Ben, Bumpy can come with us but she has to keep up, if she starts falling behind or gets lost we can't go back for her is that reasonable?" Naruto says inserting himself into the discussion to speed things up. Ben hearing this nods in agreement and with that out of the way the campers resume their trek to the genetics lab.
After having walked for roughly another half hour Darius started to mutter to himself "Is this the right plan? I mean going to the genetics lab instead of the main park?" he says.
"Meh its like Naruto said the genetics lab is closer than the main park and it's not my problem as I am not the leader so if someone gets eaten it's not my fault" Kenji says with a smirk and shrug.
"Yeah but if I made the wrong decision, the person getting eaten could be you Kenji" Naruto says, tilting his head and looking over his shoulder back at Kenji causing the boy's smirk to disappear.
"Why are we moving so slowly, let's pick it up people!" Kenji says panicking slightly as he walks faster pulling ahead of the group.
Darius shakes his head seeing this before he looks around and his eyes widen "Wait guys…where's Ben?" he asks, causing the others to stop and look around and sure enough the timid boy was missing. Only for him to back out of some bushes struggling to pull Bumpy along.
"Ben, what was the deal we made?" Naruto says with a sigh hating the fact he has to make the boy leave the baby dinosaur behind.
"Bumpy was keeping up, she just stopped for a moment to eat some berries!" Ben pleads not wanting to leave the baby dino behind.
"Ben you're not thinking this through Bumpy is not only too slow, but she also gets distracted based on what you just said" Brooklynn counters feeling bad for the boy but her self preservation instincts were overpowering her sympathy for him.
"Then...then we'll put her in the Van!" Ben says trying to think of a reason that can help him convince the others to not abandon Bumpy as he looks around.
"What Van?" Sammy asks skeptically.
"That one!" Ben says before pointing off to the side behind the others where a black van is parked in the middle of the dirt road much to everyone's shock.
"...How the fuck did I miss that?" Naruto asks blinking owlishly as he had been looking in that general direction mere moments ago.
The kids walk over to the van and open up the back of it to see nobody in it "It's an ACU Transport, that stands for Asset Containment Unit. Got the…"Kenji begins to say and boast only to lurch forward a bit as Naruto lightly smacks him upside the back of his head.
"Kenji…now's not the time" Naruto says with a frown "The fact that this vehicle is abandoned like this isn't a good sign" he adds on while hoping that the ACU Troops that used it managed to get to safety as he respected several of them pretty highly like Commander Hamada, Lee, Craig, and Spears as he had worked with them a few times in the past like the Gallimimus incident.
"Is that a tablet!" Brooklyn suddenly shouts upon seeing one resting on one of the side seats in the back of the van rushing in to get it as everyone begins climbing in the van.
"What did they tell us? Oh right channel 6 for emergencies" Sammy says picking up an abandoned radio and turning it on "Dave, Roxie can y'all hear us?" she yells into the radio only receiving static as a response.
"It's no use Sammy reception on the island has always been spotty hence why to counter it my dad had signal booster towers built throughout the island. However its a safe bet that some of them are likely down due to the Indominus probably trashing them so we will likely have to get closer to the main park in order to a signal" Naruto says shaking his head as even when all the signal towers were online it still didn't cover the whole island.
"UGH! And of course this thing doesn't have communication enabled!" Brooklyn screams out in frustration "Because why would it, if I had my phone..-ENOUGH ALREADY!" Darius yells, cutting off Brooklynn's rant and surprising everyone at his outburst.
"There are Bigger things going on here than your phone!" Darius says having had enough of the pink haired girls complaining about her phone being missing given everything that's happened so far.
Darius's outburst causes Brooklynn's eyes to widen before she looks down in shame having realized how she has been acting. Her eyes once more wide when she sees what's on the screen of the tablet "There's a map program with little moving dots on it?" she says in confusion not understanding what she is looking at.
"All the dinosaurs are chipped so that we can keep track of them. You see that dot there is us as that's Bumpy's dot" Naruto says as everyone gathers around to take a look at the tablet "And over there is a herd of Brachiosaurus…ah crap" he says after realizing something.
"What's wrong?" Yaz asks not liking the way Naruto reacted seeing where Brachiosaurus were.
"The herd is currently located near the northern part of the island but their habitat/grove is located way down just above the main park. The fact that they are so far from their area means that the fences are down" Naruto explains, causing the others to gasp.
"Just…just how many of the fences are down?" Sammy asks nervously not liking the implications of what the fences benign down would mean.
"Judging by how far they are from their area and the number of fences we have in between I estimate that around 50-75% of the park's fences have been breached though there is no telling the extent of the breaches as it could be an entire section down or a single hole. Even if it is just a single hole in each fence that's still not good as it would have to be a pretty sizable one for a Brachiosaurus to get past meaning that any dinosaur on the island could get through the holes as well" the spiky haired blonde says grimly causing the others to gulp as they thought about just what that meant.
The campers were suddenly snapped out of their thoughts when they heard Bumpy growl lowly before she began squealing loudly as she jumped up and down looking at the treeline in front of her. Ben seeing this hopped out the van and knelt next to her "Bumpy what's wrong?" he asked worriedly before a rumbling was heard.
"Ben get Bumpy in the van NOW! We need to leave!" Naruto suddenly snaps out his eyes wide as being around dinosaurs for so long he was able to tell what that rumbling was.
"What? What is it?" Ben asks in terror looking back at the others before another rumble was heard.
"Something big is coming this way" Darius remarks in slight fear.
"That's weird whatever that is it isn't showing up on the tablet" Brooklyn comments looking down at the map program to see that the only dot near them was Bumpy.
"What kind of dinosaur wouldn't have a transponder?" Yasmina asks in confusion.
"Dammit guys we need to leave get bumpy in the van before-" Naruto starts saying only to get cutoff when Bumpy lets out another loud squeal before a loud roar was heard after it "Fuck" he says simply.
"We gotta go now!" Darius yells out as everyone scrambles to take a seat and buckle up in the van with Ben closing the back doors after getting in himself once he helped Bumpy up into the back. "Wait doesn't anyone know how to drive a van!?" Darius asks in realization upon seeing everyone buckled up in the back and no one up front in the driver's seat.
"I only know how to drive a motorcycle. I was going to learn how to drive a jeep but well there was an incident and my dad said I needed to wait before trying again" Naruto says.
"We drove gyrospheres, it can't be that different" Sammy says as the roaring can be heard getting louder.
"Gyrospheres had joysticks and a Jimmy Fallon tutorial. I don't even have my learner's permit!" Ben snaps back at her.
"I do!" Kenji suddenly says as he unbuckles himself and climbs over into the front seat "Hands at 10 and 2" he mutters to himself gripping the wheel.
"DAMMIT KENJI DRIVE!" Naruto yells as the thundering footsteps can be heard picking up speed and getting louder.
Kenji turns the van on and puts it in gear slamming his foot on the gas pedal just as the Indominus Rex breaks through the treeline and roars at the fleeing vehicle before giving chase.
The van speeds down the dirt road with the Indominus right behind it and getting closer "It's gaining on us!" Sammy yells in terror as the Indominus can be seen through the windows on the back doors of the van.
"GO FASTER!" Brooklyn screams in terror.
"I don't know how!" Kenji yells back, doing his best to keep the van on the road and ahead of the dinosaur behind them.
"You're in the wrong gear!" Yaz screams from the back as she looks forward at Kenji.
"Well how do I shift gears!" Kenji screams.
"How should I know!" Yaz screams back before sliding to the side crashing into Naruto who braces her as Kenji takes a sharp turn around a corner nearly flipping the van.
The Indominus continues to gain ground on the van getting so close that when it roars spittle sprays the back windows. It reaches out with one of its arms and is about to grab the back of the vehicle ensuring the deaths of the campers. However in the nick of time Yaz reaches forward and grabs the steering wheel out of Kenji's grip giving it a hard turn sending the van off road and through some bushes before it launches into the air off a rock at the top of a hill.
As they fly through the air the campers all scream but grunting as the van slams back on the ground and begins driving down the rest of the hill and onto another road not noticing they zoomed past a sign saying "Research Lab" with an arrow pointing straight ahead. The Indominus sees the vehicle getting away from atop the hill and lets out a roar before walking off. Meanwhile the van continues to barrel down the hill bumping up and down along the rough terrain sending the campers flying in their seats before it starts skidding to the side and nearly flips over only to be stopped by a large tree it slams against sideways.
The campers all breath heavily from the ordeal thankful to be alive "At least we seem to have lost the Indominus" Brooklyn pants out.
"Yeah but where do we go now?" Yaz asks trying to catch her own breath and quickly moving her hand and hiding a blush as she notices that in the panic she had grabbed Naruto's hand.
"We could try the genetics lab?" Ben says pointing in front of them causing everyone to look out the windshield to see the genetics lab around 50 feet in front of them. Everyone deadpans and looks back at the germaphobe who just shrugs "It's a gift" he says casually causing them all to sigh.
After exiting the vehicle the campers and Bumpy made their way into the genetics lab only to find all the lights off except for the emergency lighting and the place abandoned. Walking deeper into the lab they entered the main area and stepped inside to find a rather odd sight.
"The fuck?" Naruto says, quirking an eyebrow at seeing the untouched birthday cake complete with lit candles sitting on a lab table "This totally screams the Cake is a Lie" he adds on getting a snort from Yaz.
Suddenly a man in a lab coat wearing a birthday hat bursts up from behind the table with a scream and grabs a desk lamp shining it on the campers who yelp "Not dinosaurs, you're not dinosaurs…this is the worst birthday ever" the man pants out before slumping against the table.
A few minutes later the campers are all taking a piece of the now cut birthday cake thankful for the snack given they have been running non-stop for the last couple hours and missed lunch "Again we are so happy we found you as things are crazy out there. There is this giant camouflaging dinosaur called the Indominus Rex rampaging all around also regular dinosaurs obviously. We've been hoping to find someone–You're sure you closed the door behind you right?" Darius says only to be cut off by the scientist who had been nervously looking out the room's window.
"Uh yeah dude I think I closed it" Kenji says finishing off his piece of cake before grabbing another.
"You think! Or you know!?" the scientist snaps back harshly.
"Hey Professor Paranoia chill the fuck out. The only dinosaurs that we know for sure have gotten loose are that Indominus Rex thing, a Carnotaurus, and some Brachiosaurus. All of which are too big to get in the building with one of them not even being a danger to us. That being said, who even are you?" Naruto snaps finding the scientist's attitude not helping the situation.
"My name is Eddie and I am one of Dr. Wu's assistants not that it matters anymore as the dinosaurs got out and no one bothered to tell me; they just ran" Eddie says narrowing his eyes at Naruto.
"Ugh there's no dial tone!" Brooklynn exclaims in annoyance as she slams the receiver down on the table.
"Don't bother all the landlines are down, radios are spotty at best, and cell service is a total crapshoot" Eddie comments with a scoff.
"But the park obviously has a plan for something like this. So what's the plan, what do we do?" Darius asks optimistically.
"You're asking me?" Eddie says in disbelief before he begins chuckling which quickly turns into a crazed sounding laughter.
"I am going to hazard a guess and say that's not the good kind of crazy laugh" Yaz comments warily at Eddie's clearly showing signs of a mental breakdown.
"Do you not get it yet? We're doomed, no one is coming to help and we are all going to end up torn apart and eaten alive!" Eddie snaps, taking a step towards the kids.
"But what about Dr. Wu or Masrani-" Kenji begins before stopping as Eddie's head snaps towards him.
"Wu, Masrani? Who do you think is to blame? They got greedy and instead of Dinosaurs they built monsters!" Eddie snaps gesturing towards an incubation machine where several dinosaur eggs were sitting and being attended to by a robotic arm.
"Hey this isn't my dad's fault jackass! He just wanted a new attraction to keep the dwindling interest of the people! As for Dr. Wu he was just doing as he was asked to. If anyone is at fault for this shit show it's society in general and their ever shortening attention spans. I mean how the fuck are actual living breathing dinosaurs fucking boring!" Naruto snaps in defense not only his dad but also Dr. Wu.
"Oh sure I am sure all the families of those who died and will die today will appreciate that, "Oh sorry your loved one was brutally torn apart and eaten but blame society for us having to make the monster to begin with" Yeah I am sure they will just love that" Eddie snaps back at Naruto causing the teen to clench his fists in rage so hard that his knuckles turn white and his knuckles can be heard popping. "As for Wu, you really think Dearing or even Masrani really know what he is up to. Nonsense they are completely clueless to what has really been going on and after everything I did for the other guys-" Eddie continues on rambling.
"What other guys?!" Naruto suddenly snaps, narrowing his eyes dangerously, his hand slipping towards his sheathed knife as the group's eyes widen in shock behind him.
"It doesn't matter anymore Jurassic World isn't a park, it's a powder keg that has been struck by a spark and is now detonating all around us end of story!" Eddie says dramatically, spreading his arms out.
"No you have to know what to do, you're an adult!" Darius says.
"Quiet Darius! Now I am going to ask this one more time…WHAT…OTHER…GUYS!" Naruto snaps quieting the dino nerd as he turns his full attention to Eddie who audibly gulps at the predatory if not killer look in Naruto's eyes the swirling mix of red and blue along with the slit pupils only adding to the look.
"But Naruto we drove all the way here!" Darius begins causing Naruto to turn to look at him before his eyes widen as he notices the others eyes widen as well when they see Eddie make a run for the door.
"Um guys…I left the keys in the van" Kenji says suddenly before they all begin running out of the lab in pursuit of the fleeing scientist.
Upon making it outside they saw in despair as Eddie was nearing their sole form of transportation "What are you doing!" Darius yelled in disbelief, unable to fathom how the man was just seemingly leaving them to their possible deaths.
"I'm getting the hell outta here alive!" Eddie yells as he reaches the van and quickly gets in the driver seat, starts it, and begins driving away.
As the campers continue to give chase to the fleeing vehicle Naruto and Yaz begin to close on it due to their athleticism while the others start falling behind. Suddenly Naruto grabs Yaz from behind, halting her in place much to her shock "What're you-mmph" she begins to say looking over shoulder at him before he covers her mouth with his hand and brings his finger to his lips in a shushing motion.
Suddenly from the trees along the side of the road the Indominus Rex bursts forth with a roar slamming into the van with its head sending it skidding off the road. The hybrid then takes several steps before headbutting it again, sending the van spinning around before it slams into a tree.
Inside the van Eddie recovers from his dazed state due to the sudden stop and shakes his head before forcing open the driver side door and getting out in an attempt to flee. However the Indominus comes around the backside of the van and upon seeing the dinosaur the man jumps back into the van narrowly avoiding the hybrid's jaws as it wedges its mouth through the open door. The man makes a mad dash over the seat into the back of the and throws open the back doors only to look up and see the Indominus now peering over the top of the van.
Eddie falls out the back of the van onto the ground and crawls under it in an attempt to hide only for the van to be slid to the side as the Indominus moves it before staring down at the helpless man. Eddie flips onto his back and stares up in complete terror at the creature above him which roars at him bringing its head closer "No!" he screams holding his arms out in a worthless attempt to halt the beast. This action only results in the Indominus biting off the man's arms in a brutal and bloody bone crunching chomp causing the man to scream in untold pain as his stumps now gush blood. However his pain only begins as the Indominus then begins to tear him apart with its jaws piece by piece and eats him alive while all the doomed man can do is scream as the sounds of his bones crunching and flesh tearing fill the air joining said screams.
"We need to go!" Naruto says quietly to the others as they begin running away from the grisly scene as the Indominus is distracted by its kill. However in their panic instead of running back into the the genetics lab the campers run into a nearby area filled with shipping containers next to the building only to come face to face with a dead end in the form of a heavy duty park fence…that is fully intact.
"Are you freaking kidding me we came across what could very well be the park's only intact fence!" Kenji yells in frustration before they all hear the Indominus roar.
"Quick we need to hide" Naruto said before the group ran to a nearby bunch of large rocks and hid behind them.
"Naruto why did you stop me I could have reached the van" Yaz asked quietly in frustration.
"As we neared the van I felt the impact tremors of the Indominus running and by the time I grabbed you it was right at the treeline. If we had made it to the van we would be right there along side of what remains of Eddie which I imagine isn't very much" Naruto says giving his reason.
"Wait you could feel the Indominus running?" Darius asked.
"Yeah at first I didn't notice it and just thought it was the impact of us running. Then as we got closer to the van they became more intense and I was barely able to pick up the sounds of trees creaking over the van which clued me into it being something big and probably hostile moving towards us at a rapid pace" Naruto said further explaining himself.
The explanation was cut short as the roar of the Indominus was heard again this time louder signifying it was closer. Naruto peaked out through a gap in the rocks to see the hybrid stalking its way through the stacked shipping containers hunting the campers "If we remain quiet it should lose interest and move on" Naruto whispered to the others who all nodded.
However Bumpy seemed to have a different idea as she began to squeal loudly in distress alerting the Indominus to the fact that they were in the area as it continued its hunting. Naruto peeked out around the corner of the rocks and noticed the van sitting a few dozen feet away. The blonde gives the 'Follow me' signal as he begins stealthily making his way followed closely by the others towards the van using the shipping containers as cover.
Naruto peeks around a shipping container only to pull back quickly as the Indominus comes into view from behind another stack before taking a sniff and heading towards the containers they are hiding behind. With a roar the Indominus brings its head behind the container where the campers are only to see nothing as at the last minute they had moved to the end of the container except for Kenji, Ben, and Bumpy who only had time to hide behind two barrels next to the container.
The two boys cower in terror as the Indominus brings its head down right next to the barrels mere inches from seeing them and sealign their fate. Seeing this Darius quickly acts and picks up a rock and throws it out towards another set of containers which it hits making a loud clanging noise catching the hybrids attention as it growls and starts walking off in the direction of the noise.
With the savage dinosaur distracted the campers begin making their way to the van which is a straight shot from where they are however in the process Brooklynn trips over a rock hidden in the grass and falls to the ground losing her grip on the tablet which starts beeping alerting the Indominus to their location as it roars and starts charging them.
"Brooklynn!" Sammy yells before rushing and helping the pink haired girl up as they make a mad dash towards some containers wedged together and squeeze into the small gap narrowly avoiding the killer dinosaurs snapping jaws as the two cower in fear as their only way out is blocked by the Indominus.
"HEY UGLY OVER HERE!" Naruto yells banging on the side of a container getting the dinosaur's attention as it starts running at him "GET TO THE VAN!" he yells running into the stacks of containers the hybrid hot in his heels
The rest of the campers make it to the van with Yaz pushing Kenji out of the driver's seat "Out of the way I'm driving!" she yells quickly starting the van as everyone piles in the back and buckles up "Wait where's Naruto!" she asks upon looking back and not seeing him in the van.
The blonde haired teen ran for his life the Indominus hot on his heels and gaining fast to the point it could feel its hot foul breath on the back of his neck. Naruto suddenly made a turn running down between two stacks of containers narrowly avoiding the snapping jaws of the hybrid as it lunged at him. He quickly took another turn to the left, running down another row of containers only to slide on his knees leaning back nearly parallel to the ground in order to avoid the jaws of the Indominus once again as its head burst out from between two containers.
Getting back to his feet Naruto resumed running the Indominus once more behind him. The blonde ran up a wooden plank now running on top of a row of containers, the Indominus catching up to him to where he was eye level with the beast. Suddenly the hybrid slammed into the containers nearly causing Naruto to lose his balance if it weren't for him jumping at the last moment and grabbing a pole sticking from a container and slingshots himself to the side past the front Indominus passing through its open jaws nearly cutting himself on its razor sharp teeth.
The blonde collides with another container feet first creating a dent in it from the impact before he uses all his strength to leap off it like a frog and twist his body in the air delivering a brutal flying double kick to the side of the dinosaurs head one of his feet actually hitting the hybrid in the eye causing it to screech in pain. Naruto lands on the ground before reaming his mad dash to safety, the dazed dinosaur shaking off its pain with its rage and roaring as it resumes pursuit of the blonde pure hatred visible in its eyes.
Naruto sees the van only a little ways from him but feels the hybrid getting closer and closer and knows he won't make it at this rate. However he spots a container leaning against another creating a gap and gets an idea "Really hope this works!" he thinks before running into the gap and sliding with the Indominus wedging its head under the resting container trying to snap at him its teeth mere inches from the blonde.
Looking back for a split second Naruto can see the hybrid is momentarily stuck so he wastes no time and capitalizes on this chance getting to his feet and running to the rest of the way to the van going as fast as he can before diving into the back of the van. As soon as he is in Sammy and Ben slam the backdoors shut and Yaz guns the throttle as they tear out of the area in a cloud of dust. The Indominus finally manages to pry itself free from the gap and seeing its prey gone lets out a monstrous roar of rage.
Breathing heavily Naruto manages to sit up in the back of the van before putting his hand to his face as he starts laughing "Holy shit that was close!" he says as he laughs not sure why he is even laughing as that was the scariest thing he has ever done. Not even being face to face with Rexy was as terrifying as running from the Indominus just now.
His laughter proves infectious as soon the other campers are laughing before the radio they have crackles to life with Roxie's voice "Kids are you there please pick up? There is something going on stay at camp, we're heading back to you" she is heard saying.
"Negative!" Naruto says quickly grabbing the radio.
"Naruto! What do you mean!" Roxie is heard asking.
"An asset is out of containment and its a mean fucker something called an Indominus Rex I think its the new dinosaur my dad had made for the park. We have already seen it kill 4 people, and take down a Brachiosaurus as well as an Ankylosaurus. Camp is trashed and we just now barely escaped the monster for a 3rd time. We have stolen an abandoned ACU Van and were headed to the main park as we speak. You should see us on an ACU tablet, if you have one and we should be at the main park soon!" Naruto says quickly recapping their situation to Dave and Roxie.

Dave and Roxie are speechless at what they just heard over the radio before they race out of the room they are in.
(Back with the campers)
"Were getting out of here!" Brooklynn says with a cheer which the others join in on even Bumpy who squeals and grunts happily with a grin on her face.
"Whoo! Driver en route!" Yaz cheers with a grin as she continues driving the van.
Kenji looks back and grins at Naruto "Thanks for not getting me eaten bro" he says thankfully.
"Meh best not to thank me until we are fully safe as you never know what could happen yet" Naruto says causing Kenji's grin to fall and his face to pale "I'm kidding dude we are in the clear" he adds with a teasing grin causing the rest of the group to snicker while Kenji pouts at having been played.
In a show of no hard feelings Brooklynn holds her hand out for Sammy to high five causing the cowgirls eyes to widen before she smiles "We did it Camp Family and not a moment too-" Sammy begins as she reaches out to high five Brooklynn only for the van to hit several rocks in the road sending it jostling roughly side to side and something to fall to the floor of the van with a clatter.
Everyone in the back of the van looks down to see Brooklynn's cellphone on the floor of the van it's screen completely shattered rendering it useless.
Brooklyn's eyes widen as she sees her phone before she looks up at Sammy her eyes blazing with anger "My phone…I KNEW IT!" she yells in rage
"Sammy?" Yaz says looking into the back of the van and as a result not watching the road as teh Van begins to swerve off of it.
"WATCH THE ROAD!" Naruto yells frantically causing Yaz to snap her gaze back at the road only for it to be too late and the sound of metal crashing is heard.

Quick AN: Hello everyone Pyro and I hope you enjoyed this chapter. Now I would like to say that Yes this chapter is a decent bit shorter (Little over 9300 words as of this AN compared to almost 14K for the previous chapter) than the first one and as a result covers less in the number of episodes but the trade off is that it has a bunch more detail that we think really help makes the story feel more alive in a sense.
